What's to stop him getting a job and working his way uo? His equipment may be damaged but he probably has the most comprehensive military training in the Fallout universe when he enters, he gets a job, earns money, kills baddies, gradually repairs his armour and acquires weapons and eventually takes out the Enclave. This is MC. In Fall of Reach, without power armour, he and a few other Spartans took out a whole compound guarded by exoskeletons. If the 101 dude can unite the Wastes, MC can do it with EASE. He'd spend a decade or so becoming powerful, another decade leading a massive campaign against the Enclave, raiders, muties etc, create a wasteland nation, and eventually die of old age after killing more bad guys than 101 could dream of.
