What would happen in Empire City?
What would happen to infected NY?
Would their powers be diminished?
What other outcomes could there be?

Are these two switching universes while empowered or as average humans?

cole doesnt have many assets against the infected
mercer was overpowered and still prototype had its hard moments.
cole isnt as overpowered, his powers constantly need recharging unlike mercer.
although cole might be able to procure more allies in ny.
on the other hand, mercer would porbably be a god in coles world.
he has more powerful powers than cole (mostly)
his powers dont need recharging
he can run REALLY fucking fast
he can cross the city a lot faster
the enemies in infamous dont seem as much of a threat as the FUCKLOADS of zombies SHITLOADS of US army soldiers/tanks/helicopters and BLACKWATCH
also, mercer isnt a moral guy, the only directly good thing he did in prototype was saving new york from a nuke, and even then, i think he did it to save his own ass.
so basically, cole is trapped in a city where every enemy comes in groups of hundreds, his powers are not sufficent to combat half of these enemies and he is screwed.
mercer is trapped in a city where he is more powerful than anyone else, with mabye one or two beings powerful enough to consider facing him, he is a god amongst men.
that being said, cole could blend into the population, but then he would get nuked…

@ I dunno: Actually, outside of game mechanics, Cole would be able to kill any of Prototypes enemies with a single shot.

the helicopters… those fucking helicopters…
even at mercer speed running, you get the fuck shot out of you, cole doesnt run at those speeds so the chances of him evading them…
and yes, he could kill a hunter, a blackwatch soldier or even a tank, but in prototype all of these things come in groups, fucking large groups of anywhere between 5 and 50.
cole could wait it out as a civilian, in hiding. but if the infected arrived and he decided to defend himself from the zombie hoards, the military might mistake his powers for those of ZEUS (mercer)

He’d be able to take out the military peeps with one shot but the infected are some tough mufuckas. His best bet would be using hammers and shock grenades too off/stall them to get enough time and power going for a lightning storm.
As for mercer, yeah everybody’s fucked. His only competition was sasha (location unknown), Alden (presumably dead), kessler (deseased), and cole (running for dear life from fuck loads of zombies)

Cole can ignite the powder in guns by just touching them, so the hordes of Military companies won’t be too big a deal for Cole since a live bolt would have the same effect (this is going by story not gameplay), the tanks and such may be in numbers, but I think the most appropriate one to deal with those would be megawatt hammer and lighting storm obviously.
As for Alex, if the big bosses are no longer present, then no there is no sort of resistance to him. If they were present he’d be screwed against Kessler for certain, I don’t know the extent of Alden’s powers against humans or non-mechanical things so I can’t say. I think Alex can knock Sasha around easily enough though.
But I don’t forsee either having too much trouble with the vast amount of fodder enemies, Cole pretty easily blocks bullets and is even healed by them via polarity shield, and with the exception of Kessler and Alden I don’t think anyone in InFamous is going to be harming Alex, although those teleporting conduits and stuff might be odd given Alex’s melee style of fighting, however I don’t think the have any offensive capabilities that would get past Mercer’s armor.

Wouldn’t Kessler be be moved to the Prototype universe aswell?

Hard to say, they’re already the same person existing in the same time, I don’t see why they couldn’t stay split up

They’re not really switching universes as they are switching places so were kessler still alive, he’d still be in empire city.

I don’t know how Mercer would hold up in the inFamous game, but I think Cole would get swarmed. I’m sure he could put up a great fight, but I think the large numbers of enemies would overwhelm him and eventually take him down.
It is hard fighting 3 helicopters, 4 tanks, 2 APCs, 20 marines, and 50 infected all at the sime time without massive area of effect attacks, and whats more this is a common place circumstance in Prototype. Cole would have to be able to do this regularly; he might just have his batteries die on him during one of those fights and, well, die too.

Mercer’s powers seem much more balanced overall. He’s a better package than Cole’s (despite the result of their match between each other) Cole’s defensive capabilities are much more limited than Mercer’s and there’s no way Cole is going to be able to block all the bullets from all directions. One guy pounding him with a machine gun from an angle Cole didn’t expect would be much more devastating to him than to Mercer.

Thing is though, Cole wouldn’t go picking fights with the military like Alex. He’d probably be more inclined to help the military halt the infection like he did in his own universe.

lke i said, with mercer missing from new york, the blackwatch might just mistake
cole for mercer, although the codename ZEUS would be far more fitting this time.
also, cole cant jump as high as mercer to my knowledge. jumping seemed to help a lot in prototype.

“the blackwatch might just mistake cole for mercer”
Doubtful. Cole can’t pick soldiers up over his head and rip them in half, and he would be able to to move anonymously past the vitral detectors. If anything, the Military could view Cole as a potential weapon against the virus if they saw his powers.

I wouldn’t write Cole off as useless in the Prototype world, like I said with his chain lightning attacks and ability to ignite gunpowder, as well as pretty simple method of blocking bullets (his polarity shield never breaks) the military isn’t going to be too big of an issue for him, save for the tanks in large groups maybe.
The masses of infected also aren’t too big of a problem, I can see the shockwave or any lightning attack dealing with them. The hunters are just piles of organs and muscle, so electricity would be a pain in the ass for them as well.
However, providing that Kessler and Alden are gone Alex is going to perform better in the InFamous world I think. But if the two of them were present, Alex would be royally screwed. Kessler for sure, Alden is said to have telekinesis not just control over metal. So if he really is a super-powered telekinetic, then I don’t see him having any issue with Alex since he can rip bises like nothing. And Kessler wins over Alex for obvious reasons.
Overall though, I think Alex is in less danger in InFamous than Cole is in Prototype, unless the Military isn’t after Cole in full force, but the infected won’t be causing too much issue.

during the new york incident/outbreak, no one really knew the full extent of mercers power.
its likely that blackwatch could assume that mercer had unlocked new abilities.
or they might pass cole off as another runner, or they might capture cole for research, as blackwatch really arent above that sort of thing

and if the fight with kessler is any indication of his capabilities, im pretty sure that mercer could take him, lets not forget that mercer is very fast

Even though Kessler is faster. And is already far more powerful then Cole. And it’s been established that Cole could take Alex.

Considering that if Kessler killed Cole he would have ceased to exist, it’s safe to say that Kessler wasn’t intending to kill his younger self.
Now, can we get back to the subject at hand?

hold on, kessler had this mystery opponent who he ran from with his family whilst this opponent ravaged humanity, this opponent was never named and gradually grew more powerful.
couldnt this be mercer?
also, as mercer is basically a walking blacklight hive, couldnt he start an outbreak
of the blacklight virus in coles world?

Yeah, Alex could. Alex would do more damage overall in Empire City than Cole would in New York ‘unless’ Kessler or Alden were around.
This topic is kind of odd to debate, unless your asking “Who would survive longer/dobetter/cause more havoc” then the answer is Alex.
But both universes have the characters or means to kill Alex and Cole.

I don’t recall Alex ever infecting another person with his strain of the virus. The only problem that could pose is if a sample of blacklight ended up in Empire citys tar-infested water supplies.

hmmm… cole probably wouldnt last too long he is best at fighting individuals or small to medium groups. but the infected are just too many and attack at any time of day.cole will eventually get too tired to fight on and he lacks the speed to get away if he got into trouble…
alex would do better simply because there isnt anyone in infamous that could put him down for good.
except maybe kessler but i havent seen him use any attacks that are fast enough or powerful enough to campare with coles..(i know they are the same person but because the attacks are so different i think that he is simply a different version)….. cole could kill the bosses quicker but the average characters would swarm him and mercer would beat them all but at a slower pace

Clearly Alex is total, complete, raging madness in Empire City. You’ve seen what he could do in New York. As for Cole, I have not really played for long in the game since I don’t own a PS3 and could only play my friends’. Damn Exclusives.

For Alex: Provided there was no Kessler Alex WOULD OWN in empire City And After That he could Get Bored and Infect someone (Alex can do that but chose not to in NY >see Web if Intrigue)
for Cole Yeah he could probobly fuck a hunter up with an electrical charge but 60+ At the same time???? So he would have to lay low and be careful to not show his powers Oh and is this before Elizabeth green is realised (cus if it is all Cole has to worry about is Military) if not yeah….not pretty as for him helping the military BLACKWATCH would experement on him Faster then you can Say BLACKLIGHT!!
so um in short Alex = ruler of world Cole = in hiding in NY and/or Escaping NY to live a relativity normal life

@Sapper
i kinda enjoyed the prospect of killing someone transforming into them then killing their family or dragging soemone up to the top of the empire State Building and watching them plead before throwing them of the top or pretending to be part of the military fighting the infection also the story was a bonus (Web of Intrigue i mean)
