Who would be able to harness it’s power?
What type of impact would in have in the universe?
What other outcomes would there be?

Awesome! My battle request got accepted! I really don’t know that much about Warhammer 40K, I just wanted to see the opinions of other people on this site. Regardless, I think the Sun Crusher could do some significant damage to their universe.

What is a Sun Crusher?

Well, I’m not entirely sure what a Sun Crusher is, however.. it would need to be pretty powerful to have a serious effect on the Warhammer 40K universe.

@PaleoTyrantus
The name describes what the ship is capable of doing.

Sun Crusher. Impervious to most types of damage present in the 40k universe, namely kinetic (bolters, some las fire etc); explosive (again bolters, rockets); heat (las fire, plasma); and quite possibly psyker damage. However, I have little doubt that the Necron Gauss tech would flay the armor of the SunCrusher, one atomic layer at a time. It’s main weapon could possibly do uber damage to unprotected regions of the galaxy, I am sure, however, that a high levelastropath would be able to predict its course of action.
And not to be too much of a pain in the ass, but imagine if you were teleported to a new universe in a spacship. First, you would shit your pants- its a new damn universe. Second, who is an enemy? Would you recognize anyone? Probably not haha. So you might shoot first and ask questions later. But think about this- you would have no repair stations, refueling stations, ammo caches, and you might not even be able to eat the food or drink the water. Pathogens common in this universe might destroy you. All in all you wouldn’t last very long, and in the end unless you made some friends you would die. So perhsps shooting off a sun-crushing weapon at the first fucking civilization you come into contact with isnt the brightest idea!
So, yes it could do some damage. Likely the Suncrusher would get corrupted by chaos, destroyed by the Necrons or offered help in exchange for tech swapping by the Imperium or the Tau. Good idea, though

It lasts a while by virtue of being indestructible until some random psyker mindrapes the pilot. The race that discovers it then proceeds to dominate the galaxy by virtue of having a type of faster-than-light travel that doesn’t involve getting eaten by Daemons, and doesn’t take months.

I doubt that. The ship would be stuck at sublight speeds because Hyperspace most likely doesn’t exist in the 40k universe. Even if it could go into Hyperspace, it still would not surpass the Necron’s near instantaneous FTL travel.

I read about the sun crusher in a book and i know a few things about it: 1; It can kill planets. 2; It can move very fast and makesharp turns. 3; It can take on the Death Star and win. 4; It depends on the pilot.

I am somewhat amazed this topic has not generated more feedback. Fascinating.

There’s no guarentee that hyperdrive won’t work, and in such debates, it’s best to assume both sides technologies work in each others universes, otherwise most debates become stupid. For example, “Mephiston replaces Master Chief” would boil down to “Mephistons head explodes because there is no warp OLOLOLOLOL”.
And by dominates the galaxy, i mean the galaxy at Status Quo. Obviously the Necrons will simply pimpslap whoever the want to.

Necron tombship comes out and unleashes overlapping bursts of stored solar energy, blinding the pilot, and then proceed to send out scarab swarms, shoot the main gun then get the hell out of there. Necrons don’t fight to the end.

it would have absolutely no effect as the C’tan will destroy it in a matter of seconds

“RED ÖNES GO FASTER”
Orkz all the way baby. Since they are the most widespread civalization, chances are,the orkz will get this bad boy first, chop up the useless crew and pimp that shiaaat up. Next, while da boyz paint that mahfah firetruck red, da techboyz will jump start the ships controls so that even a warboss can use it. As it is common knowledge that if orkz belive it,then it is so (e.g. Red unz go fasta…and it actually works, for the orkz at least!!). So,with this heas sun crusher, the warlord would round da boyz up, ‘ave em grab their choppaz an’ deir shootaz coz he’ll be about to lead his clan on one helluva Waaaaaaaaagh, with a fleet of rockz led by the ship, the warboss would proceed to give da humies and da chaos boysz da fight o’ dere mizerable livez! And…as everyone knows…da bigga da Waaaaagh, da more orkz uz gonna get

Who ever gains the Sun Crusher is going to be force to use Warp since it would take decades or centuries to map out safe Hyperspace routes that don’t have a mass shadow to pull the ship out.
But Orkz with a Sun Crusher? Ouch, don’t know much about 40k but this is going to give the IoM a run for its money.

The Sun Crusher sounds like a Talisman of Vaul/Blackstone Fortress, only not cursed. And a bit less powerful.
