Another reader suggested match up. Johnny 5 looks understandibly upset at the fact that a shrimpier version of him gets some animated love, a Pixar makeover and a blockbuster of a film. So, which bot has what it takes to emerge from this scrap?

Johnny 5 will just roll over wall-E and crush him.
Johnny 5 is a military robot, and has a powerful laser (the shoulder thing) whereas wall-E is a toy that can recycle.
Johnny 5 also has some kind of ability to remote control other electronics, so could possibly just take control of wall-E.
And I don’t know if this (or whether it was the reason for the battle or not) but they may be making a remake of short circuit!

There’s some information missing, which I might need to answer this one:
1. How many megabytes of data has Johnny 5 consumed?
2. Has Johnny met “Los Locos” yet?

Even though Johnny 5 has a clear size advantage and was built by the military, he is a pacifist and not to mention slow. WALL•E is much more durable, agile and is fitted with a laser gun that would slice johnny 5 into Johnny 2.5/2.5. Johnny 5’s little laser shot might knock a bit of rust off WALL•E, but he is due for a paint job anyways.

Wall-E totally looks like the robot from “Short Circuit”… minus the cheesy 80’s style of course

I will probably watch Wall-e on TV when it makes it there, but due to the fact that he looks like a cheap rip off of good old Johnny 5, I will not be venturing as far as the cinema on this occassion.

Johnny 5 pwns stupid Wall-e. Short Circuit was the bomb, admittedly I did quite like Wall-e, but c’mon, he is a blatant rip off of Johnny Five!

Is this before he meets is “rouge” girlbot, or after? If is is before, I think he still win because he would just run around all day untill that storm thing came and go in his house, then the other robot would be blown away and simply brake. If after, Wall-E would yell for his girlbot, which I have totaly forgot her name, and she would pull out her gun thing and blow him up up into meare protons, electrons, and nuetrons.

I figured it out: EVE is his girlbot’s name. Or as Wall-E calls her: EEE-VVV-AAA!

I just read the wikipedia entry for Wall-E (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WALL-E) and it does mention the the director was influenced by Short Circuit: “The director also acknowledged he may have been subconsciously influenced by Johnny 5 from the film Short Circuit, which he saw once.”

WALL-E would dodge Johnny 5’s lazers, and disable his treads with his lazer; after that, he just has to wait until the next rainstorm or sandstorm, and bye bye Johnny 5.
But it’s unlikely. They don’t seem like the type of ‘bots that would fight each other, as neither would like to take part in any sort of fight. In fact, it’s more likely that they will try to make friends than fight.

First Johnny Five would read wall e’s manual in like 1.5 seconds, then he would disassemble him in five seconds, then use his laser to melt the resulting scrap to make a love swing for him and eve.

It’s all moot anyways. Johnny 5 was built using 80’s technology when the fastest desktop computer was a 386 with a 20mhz processor. With only a few of his models in existance, he would have no source for replacement parts unlike WALL-E who has a whole army of broken down WALL-E’s to source parts from. Sure, Johnny 5 could probably figure out how to make some mechanical parts, but lets see him fabricate multi-layer PCBs and silicon processors. No way Jonny 5 would have lasted the 700 years WALL-E did. And that doesn’t even include the 100+ years between 1986 and when WALL-E was built.
A point of interest: Short Circuit was released the same year PIXAR was founded by Steve Jobs.

Its funny that history repeats itself. Technically speaking on a storyline level, Johnny 5 wouldn’t meet WALL-E because he is from 817 years into the future. If WALL-E ever met Johnny 5, he would be a rust heep.
Speed wise, both bots are the same, but WALL-E with his small size move inside cracks, that Johnny five can’t.
I think that Johnny 5 would not be pissed off, but honoured to the fact that an animated film was based on him. The two would make fast friends.
With Johnny 5’s love of input, I would not be surprised that he would find ways to repair himself. In a matter of fact, with technology in the 29th century, Johnny 5 would probably acquire the knowledge of transfering his CPU to another bot (probably another WALL-E model). Of course, this all would not happen if Johnny 5 is still active as Grant stated eariler.
With regards to the laser comment many people are referring to with Johnny 5, remember that Johnny removed it (Short Circuits 2) because of the destruction and death it represented.
But getting back to the original question at which bot would win in a fight, my money does to WALL-E. Johnny 5 without his laser would make him quite helpless.

One day, a man goes to the doctor, complainig about his “family jewels”. The Doc said: “No problem! We’ll replace them with a wooden one and a steel one”. The procedure was ok.
):)):))
After ten years, they meet again.
the Doc asks: “How are you? Are you feeling fine?”
The man answers: “I’m ok. In fact… I now have 3 kids.”
the Doc: “Oh… really?!”
the man: “Yes… one Pinocchio and two Terminators.”

Wall-E and J-5 are both sweet and nice robots that are not really into violence. Why would they fight? The only reason I could possibly think of is may be J-5 would be lonely and try to steal EVE away. Unfortunately, she loves Wall-E and would never leave him so poor J-5 would remain alone. It is sad. Wall-E and EVE will be together forever, or until they rust away. J-5’s friends (Stephanie, Newton, Ben, Sandy, Fred…) all will die of old age and he will be alone.
J-5 does have hope in the remake, but you can’t beat the original.

If this were EVE VS 5, EVE. But this is just WALL-E. Jeeze, what a curbstomp for Number 5.
