This won’t happen with any regularity but as opportunities appear, postings like this will be presented.
So, I went to see Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen last night. Most places around the web tell you how terrible this film is. I’m not sure what those critics were expecting. Most people know that action movies aren’t destined to become Hollywood classics. Instead they are snapshots in time of the current pop culture and reflect that energy in the film.
Most viewers of the film knew what they were going to see with this film – lots of action, explosions. robots and Megan Fox. On that note, the film provides “hero moments” for each.
This was the first time I’ve ever seen an action movie where the audience applauded at the end. I suppose that’s cool, I certainly didn’t expect it.
The story is put together just enough to make it realistic in the sense that being a film that also is pushing a new line of toys has to be at a certain level that children can understand. There was some language used that while funny, is not quite appropriate to target the next generation of fans.
Putting the fanboy cap on, the movie was AWESOME. Just about everything you’d expect from the franchise, with some new canon (if you want to accept it or not, that’s not for me to decide). They left it open to make a third movie with no problem and I’d bet that if the movie makes at least 250 million, we’ll see another one in the future.
So, at the end of the day the key is would I recommend this film? If you like action, robots, punchy one-liners or just the movie theater experience, this movie will be fun for you. If you’re expecting the next Jaws, forget about it!

Saw it last night as well.
I am in the same camp as admin, so there is no real point in saying much else without spoiling it for others. All I have to say is that Optimus says one very important line in the movie:
“I’ll take you all on!”
And you know what? He did. Optimus pwned major ass.

I thought it was sweet. The CGI, like the first, was amazing. But it could’ve been a little shorter than it was. Other than just that, the movie was spectacular!

i didnt like the movie. i liked number 1 because of the fight scenes and the humour from the main guy…
but in this one his humour was halved most of the action scenes were too close for a majority of people to tell the difference between the good and evil transformers
and with no lead on from the other movie all of a sudden the decepticons have gone covert and turned into people…which made me wonder… if you had the power of a pissed off north korea and could destroy cities with your portable arsenal why not drive the world you hate into chaos instead of knowingly be slowly hunted.
then there was a lot of character that just didnt need to been in there. like his colledge room mate… he did nothing as a co-star and was mostly just annoying
and my least favorite of the needless characters was the midget egyptian border guard when i saw him i just said to myself wtf! why is this here!!!
and for the dialog of the transformers it seemd to me that the writers tried to make verything said by them either overly meaningful or overly ignorant
but with all of this the only saving grace that i found was the action scenes…while they were too close to under stand the difference between the decepticons and the autobots were very powerful and the amount of destruction was fun to see
but overall it was a fail of a movie that should only be seen by people that have no care for anything other than violence

I felt it was a worthy follow up to the first one I would have liked to see some more emphasis on some of the transformer’s personality’s but felt the increased action made sense because less back story was nesecary. All in all I was pleased.
