Dark Light
The Scarecrow Vs Mysterio
The Scarecrow Vs Mysterio

Suggested by Who?
Two more characters making their FactPile debut in this match. For this fight, the Scarecrow in play is the one from the DC universe. After looking up on what these characters can do, I’m not sure that The Scarecrow could do to win this match, but I’ve been wrong many times before.

What say you?

Well both villains use hallucinogenic gasses and both have devices that protect them fom the effects. However Scarecrow has trained in his own unique fighting style which is a combination of the crane style of kung-fu and drunken boxing. Since it likely would come down to a physical fight and whoever could disable or remove their oppenents protection first i have to give this to Scarecrow

First things first, I’d like to thank Admin for putting this thread up.

“Isnt Mysterio like a actor and he uses sleeping gases or something.”

Quentin Beck was a master special-effects and stunt man who turned to crime. He utlized various toxins (sleeping-gas, hallucinogens, poisons, etc.) and was “The Master of Illusions,” most of which could fool even Spidey’s advanced senses. And as a result of his years as a stunt man, he could take one hell of a punch. Let us not forget how some of his plots have put Spidey on the brink of insanity, and almost convinced Daredevil to kill an innocent little baby, who thought it was the Anti-Christ. Hell, in an alternate universe, Beck’s illusions made Wolverine kill the entire X-Men, though this is non-canon… It should be known that Beck was killed off several years ago, but has now somehow returned from the dead… BOO!

I’ll wait for other posts before choosing who will win, but I’m leaning toward Mysterio… I’m obviously bias.

i would believe scarecrow would win as most of mysterio’s illusions are physical only using gases to help create as sense of realism where in scarecrow’s are hallucogenic’s slowly drive the subject insane with their own fears meaning that the victim creates his own nightmare wherein mysterio has to guess in what he thinks will effect them however if came down to a fist fight mysterio’s stunt training might give him the edge

as well as scarecrow has honed his skills against one of the most deductive minds and strongest wills in the dc universe

however i am judging my choice on what have seen on television and films so any infomation from the most canon source the comics would be a help

I think Scarecrow would win if he could get the fear gas he uses into mysterio’s air stream then it would be over for mysterio. If mysterio got scarecrow into a illusion I think Scarecrow could get through it based on his so much experiance with fear, and if it came into physical combat I think scarecrow would take it because he uses that style of his that Inarto talked about mysterio migght have some hand to hand skills as a actor, but most of it probly just be basic moves of fighting. So all in all I think Scarecrow will take this.

“i would believe scarecrow would win as most of mysterio’s illusions are physical only using gases to help create as sense of realism”

Hmm… I sense a certain underestimation on some of Mysterio’s own hallucinogens. While I’d dare to say The Scarecrow’s ‘fear gas’ is more potent than most of beck’s hallucinogens, I wouldn’t say by VERY far…

After all, in one story, Mysterio’s illusions and hallucinogen gases had Spider Man believe he was only six inches tall, in another, Kraven the Hunter’s son (who’s name escapes me at the moment) accidently inhaled some of Mysterio’s gases and was convinced that he was the super villain Hob Goblin… There are plenty of other crazy things these gases are capable of…

However, both Mysterio and The Scarecrow utilize air-filters… Soooo…

“I think Scarecrow would win if he could get the fear gas he uses into mysterio’s air stream then it would be over for mysterio.”

Just as if The Scarecrow gets too close to Mysterio, chances are they are going to be enveloped in a thick concealing gas… Too bad Mysterio can see through it with his fish-bowl…

“If mysterio got scarecrow into a illusion I think Scarecrow could get through it based on his so much experiance with fear,”

Meh, I’d have to agree that Scarecrow could overcome his fears against some of Mysterio’s illusions on account that Dr. Crane probably won’t be effected by the hallucinogens via gas mask… However, being that some of Mysterio’s tricks come in a physical form, some trouble may arise… Plus Dr. Crane has a seveir phobia of birds, whick is ironic considering the fact he’s a… scarecrow.

On an odd note, in spite of his phobia, he has a pet crow.

“and if it came into physical combat I think scarecrow would take it because he uses that style of his that Inarto talked about mysterio migght have some hand to hand skills as a actor, but most of it probly just be basic moves of fighting.”

    ’shrug’

Beck has taken on Spidey before. With or with out his gases and tricks, he was able to hurt Spidey with his bare hands… before being subdued himself. Plus, unlike the Mysterio wannabe puss-burgers introduced over the years, Beck was actually able to take a fair beating from Spidey. Berkhart was an okay Mysterio I guess…

If we take his latest appearence into account, the demonic Beck was able to conjure ‘hellfire’… Just throwing it out there. Oh, and Mysterio has some sort of energy beam weapons in his gloves as well. Sort of like the Green Goblin.

“However, both Mysterio and The Scarecrow utilize air-filters… Soooo…”

scarecrow has been shown to inject his fear poison into people so that might get round the air filter problem

however if mysterio’s comeback as some kind of demon well that might change things but didnt scarecrow make some kind of deal that turned him into a scare-beast im not sure of the validity of this so if anyone knows any more it would be a great help

“scarecrow has been shown to inject his fear poison into people so that might get round the air filter problem”

Oh, right. I forgot about that tidbit… Still, The Scarecrow would have to first get through the thick cloak of gases to do that…

“however if mysterio’s comeback as some kind of demon well that might change things”

Meh, I’m not convinced he killed himself. It will probably be revealed what happened in the upcoming issue thats set to have a Beck appearance… But, that’s just my thought. until the truth is revealed, Beck is a creepy demonic Mysterio…

“but didnt scarecrow make some kind of deal that turned him into a scare-beast im not sure of the validity of this so if anyone knows any more it would be a great help”

The Scarebeast has only appeared twice. And if memory serves, it was only because of somthing the Penguin did, I don’t think Dr. Crane can control it at will…

On a side note, has anybody else noticed the resemblence of old-school Beck…

“The Scarecrow would have to first get through the thick cloak of gases to do that…”

it states on wiki that “His immunity to fear (brought about by frequent exposure to his own fear gas)” so he would have little problem getting close to beck and robbing him of one of his greatest strengths yet stil if mysterio is a demon crane might be fucked unless he can trigger the scare beast transformation somehow so this is a closer match then a first thought

“it states on wiki that “His immunity to fear (brought about by frequent exposure to his own fear gas)” so he would have little problem getting close to beck and robbing him of one of his greatest strengths”

What I’m saying is that Dr. Crane won’t be able to see Beck, not a matter of the hallucinogens getting to The Scarecrow. These thick clouds will merely hide beck from Crane. Unless The Scarecrow utilizes the same visual tech that Mysterio has in his helmet…

I’m almost inclined to say both villains have done somthing similer to that… But with both teamed up pulling of a master plan like that, it would be the end for most heroes and villains alike… Therefore I once again must say badass.

Walking in graveyards shouldn’t be scary. The things under the ground there are dead. They can’t hurt you now.

It’s the lively places, the carnivals and theaters, places where people gather and crowd and swirl together.

    Those are the feeding grounds.

Doesn’t Scarecrow have any firearm? A back up gun? I only ask because now he has to deal with a demon hybrid…

Either way, what can normal Mysterio do to Scarecrow? The glove blasters seem to be the only real threat…since Scarecrow is immune to fear

  • shaun182

  • Who?

“Either way, what can normal Mysterio do to Scarecrow? The glove blasters seem to be the only real threat…since Scarecrow is immune to fear”

He can distort The Scarecrow with his holograms and illusions.

For instance, Crane sees Beck and deceides to charge at him with his scythe. Once he reaches Mysterio and swings, the scythe makes contact with nothing. It turns out that this Mysterio was an illusion. This may even baffle Crain, which might end with him being blasted by the real Beck…

Keep in mind that Beck can create dozens of ‘Mysterio’ illusions at once, and even hid amongst a group of Mysterios…

Mysterio has also been known to frequently use holograms to alter the enviroment… One moment Crane and Beck might be in an abbandoned warehouse, next they might be in the rainforest, or some lively Arabian market, or even Planet X…

Mysterio is one of the trickiest villains fought by Spidey… If not the most…

I forgot all about spellbinder! That would be an intresting fight… Though Mysterio might get him on account that Spellbinder doesn’t wear a gasmask as far as I’m aware… Still, nice suggestion!

  • ss

    #41

maybw he would….but spellbinder uses different ways of illusion, that mysterio cant avoid

  • Who?
    November 3, 2009
    #42

Thats true… It might be closer than I thought. Well, if the match was modified anyway. After all, with the current incarnation rule in play, Mysterio is kind of undead. And the fact he can attack with hellfire, I’m almost inclined to say he’s a demon of sorts…

But still, Spellbinder’s weapons fire some sort of hypnotic beam… That could screw Beck over pretty good…

  • The Chosen One

Well i vote mysterio after Who?’s argument. I see where your going when you bring up that mysterio can beat spiderman in hand to hand combat. But really Spider-mans purpose is to lose over and over again no matter who he fights eventually spider man gets everyone by using his enviroment. Example: Trapping Juggernaut in cement.

    @itisburgers

Hmm… Do you believe that this fight in particular will cause Scarecrow enough emotional duress as to transform into the beast? Or would he be fried before that happens? There are plenty of variables to consider…

Yeah, it truly was a great issue… If I remember correctly, Mysterio also had some sort of highly corrossive spray in his gauntlets that could give off the illusion of him stopping Spider Man’s webbing in mid-air… This stuff could disentigrate Spidey’s webbing, and other such strong materials over the years…
