Rules of the Match:
-6 of each vehicle enter in a competition:
-1 on 1 in a Demolition Derby.
-2 on 2 in an obstacle course (rough terrain, water, jumps, etc). All the while there are plasma turrets firing on them.
-3 on 3 team in a large open field where there are 20 plasma turrets for each team. Each team has to take out all their turrets (which are shooting back).

The survivors of each side face off in the obstacle course.

Which vehicle comes out on top?

Making it’s first appearance on Factpile is the Argo Buggy from the Star Trek Series. The other is one of the favorite rides of the Halo Series, the Warthog. Sadly, I have no clue on either series or vehicles, but there is a ton of information for the Warthog. The Argo Buggy, not so much… But from what I gathered, they’re pretty similar. Though with the stipulation being a four course meal of vehicle combat, it should be an exciting battle!

Very interesting match here matching up Cortana from Halo against Data of the Star Trek Universe.

There are two ships of the same model; they are made of completely alien design, technology, and language. Data and Cortana have to take over their respective ships, then destroy the other.

The shields can withstand a 5 minute barrage before caving.

Who figures out their ships systems first?

Who ultimately destroys the other?

While I know that this could’ve been classified as a Group Battle, I decided to place it into the Mecha category since I think it’s better to compare the ships themselves.

Neither franchise is new to FactPile with the UNSC already having a few matches of their own, but technically, for the Star Trek Universe, this is the first time we are looking only at Starfleet in a match.

For this match, both are at their height in power and numbers.

While I’d like to think that the UNSC has a chance, I really don’t think they would be able to hold out for very long.

This is a battle that I had been hoping someone would suggest for quite some time, and I’m very pleased to present a battle between the Zentradi of the Macross/Robotech universe up against the United Federation of Planets from Star Trek.

For this match, the Zentradi are from the Macross continuity, before the collapse of the Stellar Republic.

The United Federation of Planets for this battle is from the 24th century.

I think all of you know who I am rooting for.

Very interesting match here.

Both ships house incredible powers and have no hesitance in using them to help ensure victory.

While I’d like to think that the Protoss have this in the bag, I don’t think it would come easily.

Without knowing too much about all the capabilities of the SG Atlantis universe, I would have to lean towards the Trekkers on this one.

Scenario for this match:

Both sides are aware of the other and have 50% of all troops currently engaged at the ‘mid-point” of the collective universe.

Both sides have around 25% of their troops as reserves and the remaining 25% are scouting out enemy positions.

Which side would win?

While I think it’s agreed that just about anything Warhammer 40K is ultra-powered, I think they might have a good fight on their hands here.

Where most universe matches can be drawn out and bring many combatants, this one might be over in a blink.

Well, I was hoping to write up an amazing story of how it was fantastic to create my own race of aliens or craft my character in just about any shape I wanted, personalized in just about every type of polygon bliss available.

But my friends, it didn’t turn out that way.

I have to say that I was hesitant on learning about this game about getting it. I know World of Warcraft is tremendously successful and millions play it. I know that I’ve always have been a fan of the Star Trek franchise and the idea of playing an open world game in that universe was really cool. So without thinking too much more than that, I decided to pick up a copy.

As I placed the DVD rom into the drive and was prompted to go online and get started, I was hoping that this would be the experience I think a lot of us felt was missing from the previous games in the franchise. The screen prompted me for a username and such, and after about 1/2 hour of trying to create an account, I was finally able to fire up the game. So I thought.

After logging in, it told me that I needed activate my key. I was easily able to enter the randomized code provided that I know in 3 days will have some keygen crack ready to go on all the warez sites, and was hit with the whammy:

Please activate your subscription – select a billing option.

Let me get this straight – you want to get my credit info before I even play the friggin game? On the box it says it comes with a 30-day free trial. But apparently you have to provide all your credentials before they even let you see what you’re getting. But wait, I already paid $50 just to get the game, and before I can even create a character, you are hitting me up for more cash? REALLY?!

I could understand if somehow I could acquire some cool ships or exclusive content via download, return the game and screw someone else out of some goodies – but to not even let me test drive the game is absurd. And for the record, I don’t get any of this crap I review for free. I pay for all of it so I am coming from a ‘real’ person’s perspective, not some review site where I have to say good things to get a paycheck. Yes, I know that you enter your billing information now and they won’t bill you until 30 days from the date you join. It’s not about that – how do you expect to get me ‘hooked’ if I can’t even play your game? Since the experience requires me to go online to play, you can easily turn off access at any moment, if I don’t pay – so why not let me play for free?

Cryptic and Atari, you have an epic FAIL here. We all know the model works provided you have a good game. Perhaps it’s this type of thinking is what lead to the downfall of Atari previously. To be fair, since I haven’t gone in to play the game, I suppose the actual game play review can be handled by all the ‘big boys’ who get to beta test and provide glowing reviews on another turd of a game.

At least I was able to get my reserve for God of War 3 which comes out March 16th, 2010 and I guarantee right now will not suck balls.
