    Pillar of Autumn Vs SDF-1

    Suggested by overlord

Here we have the Pillar of Autumn from Halo up against the SDF-1 from Robotech.

For this battle, the upgraded Pillar of Autumn is being used. Also, neither ship has taken any damage prior to the battle. Any fighters on board are fully armed and in standby.

    The PoA also has an escort of 100 AV-14 Attack VTOL’s, 50 Dropship 77 Heavy-Troop Transport ships, 100 C709 Longsword-class Interceptors, 50 Sabre’s, 100 Open Frame 92′s, 50 F99 Unmanned Combat Vehicles, and 50 AC-220 Gunship’s.

While at first glance, it appears that the PoA will make an easy stomp (overlord’s comments, not mine, Admin), the battle will be long because note that the SDF’s vehicles double as mechs.

Despite what the Halo fans will trot out, the SDF-1 will absolutely destroy the PoA in little time. Even with all the mechs that can be set against the Super Dimensional Fortress, the UNSC is clearly outmatched in this fight. Since overlord took the time to list the load out for the Pillar of Autumn, here is what the SDF-1 carries:

    Weapon Systems:

    Main Reflex Cannon
    4 Rail Guns
    1 Large triple-barreled Laser Turret
    8 Large Laser Turrets
    12 Long Range Missile Turrets
    48 Medium Range Missile Turrets
48 Dual Barreled 40cm Auto Cannons
    48 Laser Cannons

    Vehicle/Mecha Complement
    36 Excalibers
    24 Gladiators
    72 Raidar-X’s
    56 Spartans
    24 M.A.C. II’s
    200 VF-1A’s
    50 VF-1J’s
    40 VF-1S’s
    12 VF-1D’s
    6 Armoured Veritechs

Even if Master Chief was piloting, there is no way the PoA makes it out alive.

Zentradi Flemenmik Nousjadeul-Ger Battle Suit Vs Zeon MS-07B-3 Gouf Custom

    Suggested by Enoirin

Here we have a nice match pitting a Zentradi Battle Suit up against the Zeon Gouf Custom from the Mobile Gundam Wing series.

While they are both packed with firepower, I think the Zentradi mecha offers more mobility which I think would be the determining factor in this match.

Zentradi Vs United Federation of Planets

    Suggested by Enoirin

This is a battle that I had been hoping someone would suggest for quite some time, and I’m very pleased to present a battle between the Zentradi of the Macross/Robotech universe up against the United Federation of Planets from Star Trek.

For this match, the Zentradi are from the Macross continuity, before the collapse of the Stellar Republic.

The United Federation of Planets for this battle is from the 24th century.

I think all of you know who I am rooting for.

    Which side wins?

    Carl Macek Tribute

I know that pretty much no one who reads this site will know who Carl Macek was. He passed away this past Saturday (April 17th) of a sudden mass heart attack. Simply put, he was the producer who took three series The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeada and created what we today know as “Robotech.”

The Robotech story has three “wars” but was intertwined by Macek and his production team.

I think we all have a moment in time that we can look back at and point to as what started up on our journey as a geek. Prior to discovering Robotech, I was force fed the likes of G.I. Joe, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Voltron and the Transformers. Not that they were bad, but shows like Transformers were created to sell toys, and cared little for any real sense of a story.

An element of Robotech that got me hooked was the fact that people actually died in the show. And not just any “red shirts” either. In the first war, Roy Fokker who was a major character, actually died – and they even showed how it happened. As someone used to always seeing the hero escape death or have the ship they were in blown up while they safely parachuted out to safety, it was quite shocking.

It also marked the journey we all take from the innocence of youth to adulthood as we realize the ugly truths that exist in our world.

It is also a show of overcoming seemingly impossible odds to deserve victory. It is about the driving spirit of human nature and how despite what lies up ahead for any of us in our journey in life, that we can overcome.

My favorite “War” is the Invid Invasion (AKA the New Generation). It has the all the classics of story telling – a misfit group bands together in order to fight off the Aliens that have invaded Earth. There are double-crosses, traitors, stories of redemption, forgiveness and sacrifice. None of these elements were happening on G.I. Joe. All they had was the “…And knowing is half the battle” segment at the end of every episode. I guess that was how they could justify advertising cloaked as a cartoon.

To give you an idea of how much of a geek I am for Robotech, I am one of the original members of the Robotech.com site, when it opened in July 11th of 2001. My handle there is ‘fusionaire’ – and one of the very few Lieutenants on the site. And yes, I am well aware that Toby Maguire bought the live action movie rights and I *hope* that they do it justice.

So, while I know that Robotech has been passed by many other shows in terms of graphics, story-telling and freshness, I will be hard pressed to find another show that had that much of an impact on my life – and Carl Macek was an enabler who brought that to the world.

    UEF Mongoose Vs Spartan Destroid

    Suggested by OriginalA

Both of these mecha are making their debut on FactPile. The UEF Mongoose is from the Supreme Commander franchise, while the Spartan Destroid is from Robotech.

For my money, the only way the Mongoose could win is in a mid-range fight. The Spartan has the range advantage with the missile capacity, and in close combat, they are extremely flexible and fast.

Is there any chance for the Mongoose to win?

    SDF-1 Vs Super Star Destroyer

Here we have a match in where I am taking the complete fanboy route and pick the SDF-1 from Robotech to win while I wait for L-W’s reply to show me at least 13 ways in which the SSD is superior.

But take it easy on the old Admin, he’s celebrating his birthday!

    Master Chief Vs Scott Bernard

    Suggested by War Wizard

Making his first ever appearance on FactPile is Scott Bernard from the Robotech franchise. I know most people will hardly care about this match, but like I heard someone famous once say: “It’s good to be the king!”

Anyways, for this match, it takes place on Earth, Scott has a fully equipped cyclone with no issues of Protoculture to worry about.

Great Mazinger Vs Robotech Shadow Fighter

    Suggested by War Wizard
Well, this is a very tough match to post. While Robotech is my clear favorite “anime” series, I don’t think there is much hope for the Shadow Fighter against one of the greatest Shogun Warriors. Mazinga (The West version) just has too much for the fighter to handle. Still, I think it would be a decent fight.

Invid Royal Command Battlroid Vs Megatron

For the sakes of this match, it does fall under the “Mecha” category, despite the fact that Megatron is an intelligent life form and the battloid is is piloted by a living creature. Regardless, I don’t see Megatron having much of a chance against the Invid. With it’s ranged weapons the Royal Command Battloid can attack from a safe distance inflicting damage to Megatron. Should it get to physical combat, I think the Transformer could win the fight.

    Robotech Vs Star Trek

    Suggested by Matapiojo
Well now, my all-time favorite sci-fi series in Robotech going against the powers of Star Trek. With all powers of all entities in play, Robotech couldn’t withstand whatever the Q Continuum wanted to do. However, should “Q” find the micronians interesting enough and let them battle un-impeded, Robotech would be able to take care of the Star Trek universe in time.
