    John Williams Vs Ennio Morricone

This is truly an epic battle.

These two are responsible for some of the best known soundtracks music in cinema history.

While I love the Star Wars theme, nothing beats “Ecstasy of Gold” – I still get chills when I hear that tune.

    Kiss Vs Metallica

Here we have the marketing masters of Kiss up against the former heavy metal gods known as Metallica.

For this match, the winner should be determined by popularity, career, influence and who is your personal favorite.

I’ve said this before. I think Kiss does a amazing job at promoting themselves. They are a mediocre band that has manged to hang around forever and make bank like crazy. Metallica has clearly influenced more bands and has endured some hardships that has ended other bands.

I think it’s pretty clear who I’ve chosen, what say you?

Insane Clown Posse Vs Cypress Hill

This match marks the debut for both Cypress Hill and Insane Clown Posse on FactPile.

While we can also add in whoever is our personal favorite, the winner of this match should be determined by popularity, influence, legacy, and success.

While I do enjoy some of ICP’s music, to me they fit more into a “Weird Al” style of music (Of which Weird Al is the un-disputed Master) which is not to be taken all that serious (Like 2 Live Crew). So, for me, it’s easily Cypress Hill who wins in every way possible.

    Eminem Recovery Review

I know that this genre is not something I typically review, and I don’t get enough hip-hop to qualify as any type of critic for this music, but this album is something fierce.

Eminem was starting to slip into the trap of resting on his laurels and letting his name carry the music instead of pushing the boundaries of what he could do.

Simply put, “Recovery” is his best album since the Marshall Mathers LP. “Going Through Changes” lifts a chorus song by none other than Ozzy Osbourne and adds a nice sound to Eminem’s song list. The song “Not Afraid” is a great track that essentially encapsulates the entire reasoning behind the album. “25 to Life” feels like the follow up to “Kim” from the before mentioned Marshall Mathers LP. There are two tracks that harken back to days of Eminem calling out people for how he perceives them and the acts they put on with “Almost Famous” and “Untitled”.

But for my money, we really get to see a peek at the inner demons he has been fighting on the LP’s two best tracks: “Love the Way You Lie” (featuring Rihanna) in an ironic role singing to what could easily be taken as a message to Chris Brown. For those with a short memory, he beat the hell out of her.

And the absolute gem in my mind is “Space Bound” – it’s about as close as a love song that you’ll probably ever get from Eminem.

This is an album that you’ll listen to 10 years from now and it’ll still resonate: 10/10 – It’s an instant classic.

    Ozzy Osbourne Scream Review

So, I recently was able to listen to the latest album from Ozzy and I have to admit that I found myself liking it much more than his recent releases.

Say what you want to about Oz, but you gotta give it up for him. Unlike many acts that have reached his status, they spend their time re-hashing their “hits” and just playing safe tours going to cities that they know their fan base will attend.

So, to the tracks. For me personally, I always enjoy listening to the entire album to see if there is some theme (like a Green Day or Muse album). What qualifies a good album to me is at least three good songs. Great albums will have more and there are an elite few where every song is great.

This is probably the best album from Ozzy since No More Tears (1991!). He’s got a new hotshot guitarist in Gus C., but the problem is that Zakk Wylde wrote all the tracks, but Gus recorded them, so the true testament of his axe skills will have to wait until the next release.

So, there are a few duds, I applaud Ozzy for taking the chances he did, and as a result produced some great tracks like “Time” which has a killer guitar solo. “Life Won’t Wait” sounds like radio gold and even has an Iron Man riff in it. “Diggn Me Down” is a good overall song, but my favorite track is easily “Let Me Hear You Scream” – it’s got a killer guitar riff and the tone just kicks ass.

Overall, I’d give it a 8/10. Here’s to Ozzy taking chances and getting rewarded for doing so.

    Muse Vs Queen

It’s been a while since we had a celebrity battle so here we go.

Without a doubt, I think Queen has left it’s stamp on Rock history. But like all things, time stand stills for no one, and we are always seemingly looking for the “next one”.

While I’m not saying that Muse has earned that status, they certainly seem to have all the ingredients to make it there.

So, given a choice, which band do you prefer?

    Pantera Vs Megadeth

So I am a fan of both bands and have seen both of them live.

For this match the winner is to be determined by who’s sound and lyrics you like better.

For me, this isn’t even close. I do think the Countdown to Extinction album is perhaps Megadeth’s greatest work, they just can’t match the Vulgar Display of Power (pun intended) that Pantera had. Sure, Dimebag is gone, but I’d take any track from Pantera just about everytime.

    Ice Cube Vs Ice-T

Here we have two debuts to the ‘Pile.

I’ve been listening to both of these artists for quite some time. While Ice Cube came on to the scene as a member of N.W.A., Ice-T was making a name for himself with his then hardcore style. While I personally think that “AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted” by Ice Cube is a classic, I also loved the Heavy Metal turn that Ice-T took when he was the front man for the band Body Count.

Then they both have some nice acting work – the “Friday” franchise for Ice Cube, and “Law and Order” for Ice-T.

While it ultimately comes down to personal preference, I would take Cube for the win.

    Kid Rock Vs Beastie Boys

While we all know that when it comes to music, we all have our own styles that we prefer, I think these two combatants have at least one song that no matter what genre you prefer, you probably like at least one of their songs.

So, given a choice of either artist performing for you, which one would you pick?

Excellent idea here. While I truly enjoy my smart phone and all it has to offer, there is no way it will ever replace my trusty pc. My computer just offers much more power and ability to get things done. I know I couldn’t run FP without it!
