While we all know that when it comes to music, we all have our own styles that we prefer, I think these two combatants have at least one song that no matter what genre you prefer, you probably like at least one of their songs.

Excellent idea here. While I truly enjoy my smart phone and all it has to offer, there is no way it will ever replace my trusty pc. My computer just offers much more power and ability to get things done. I know I couldn’t run FP without it!

Here we have a fun match that will either spark a lot of talk, or just become a tumbleweed. While Symphony X has the mettle to go against Dream Theater, for me the edge goes with John Petrucci of DT.

I think most of you know which way I am going in this one. While I do enjoy some of the stuff that Kreator makes, there’s just something about Slayer that gives them an edge over just about every other metal/thrash band out there.

Which one would you pick?

One of the hardest things about reviewing a band that you grew up with is trying to put their latest release in a fair comparison to their older material. I’ve been a fan of Slayer since the “Regin in Blood” album (circa 1986). And I’ve always felt that “Seasons in the Abyss” was their best album ever.

So, where does “World Painted Blood” fall? Surprisingly, it’s a really good album when compared to the recent releases they’ve had. If you love Slayer, I think you’ll place this album in their top 5. If you only like them, it has enough to satisfy any metal/thrash/speed fixations you need.

My personal favorite on the album is “Playing With Dolls” – a different type of opening riff before they get into the heavier stuff. “Americon” dives into the political side of things which is something Slayer likes to play around with. I’m not going to review all the songs, as this is a review of the entire piece of work.

For the sake of this match, it’s a battle of who’s more popular. I know that Dragonforce has some serious guitar licks, but looking at the whole body of work so far for each band, I’d have to take Linkin Park. I know, let the flaming begin.

Who would you pick?

While for many, this might be a tough choice. For me, Sabbath just spawned soo many copycat type bands and inspired many bands that are heard today. They’ve influenced many bands and have had their songs covered by many.

This certainly makes for an interesting topic, not sure what to make of it personally, but it might be possible…

A definite first for this website, a match between two songs that are considered by many as THE rock anthems to decide just which one is better.
