So, I think only Mata and I are the only vocal readers of Factpile who watched the show. I had always had my own thoughts on the fate of the island and everything it entails, and for what the series provided, I think it did a great job of wrapping things up from a character’s perspective.
I have to say, of the possible outcomes of an ending, I thought it was a 9/10. It’s much better than some other shows have had (X-Files immediately comes to mind) and there was a sense of closure that some series don’t often get, but it’s something we all crave in some form or another.
But, this little write up is not about the show itself. Instead, I think LOST has earned a place in history from a story-telling and ability to play along with the fans through “leaked” sites or planting clues in various blogs or other seemingly random places where the writers knew anxious followers would find them.
LOST showed that a “cult” following could happen in prime-time, not just on the Syfy channel. It’s our generation’s “Twilight Zone” and also showed the we like to have our shows run without repeats sprinkled throughout the season. For a show like LOST, those times they did have the repeat episodes, it really seemed to throw off the build up of the storyline.
The show also covered the basics in a very straight forward manner. Good Vs Evil. Fate Vs Destiny. Redemption.
The series had a high production value even in the simple things like the musical score to help set the mood of the scenes, the great writing and the acting as well.
LOST has risen the bar for episodic television and will become known as a classic as time continues it’s non-stop flow of moving forward.
I have to admit that I don’t watch a ton of TV, but was glad I found this show when it all started. so, as they would say on the island: “What happened, happened.”
Namaste.
... more.
