You know it’s a major fight when each combatant only has one name, and no one will get confused as to who is being talked about.
I think the knee-jerk reaction is to give the victory to Superman – but would that be the ultimate outcome?
What say you?

(My post assumes Thor is not wielding the Odinforce)
Superman would deflect most of Thor’s attacks with his Kryptonian powers, then wrench Mjolnir from his hands (As seen in JLA/Avengers). With this great weapon, he’d blast Thor with his own attacks and finish him with a crackling strike of lightning. The big blue boyscout wins this one.

This isn’t a fight with the Odinforce. Thor just points at Supes and the Last Son is fried.

Oh.
My appologies.
It looks as though my issued computer by the United States Federal Government has a bug that specifically targets Factpile scenarios, rendering crucial information invisible. I will do everything within my power to get that sorted out as soon as humanly possible.

It’s a statement of fact. Get over yourself. It would be a slaughter, not a conflict.

@Mata.
It’s obvious Admin means classic Thor. Everyone already knows about the odinforce, it’s an overpowered fan service pat on the back to Thor fans who can’t stop whining about his relatively low power level in comparison to other gods.
This isn’t a wiki, so you have no reason to constantly list facts that anyone can look up within seconds.
“my issued computer by the United States Federal Government”
We get it, you work for the facist regime that everyone hates, shut up.

“It’s obvious Admin means classic Thor.”
Really?
Please, do tell how you drew that conclusion from the few lines given above? Also, when did I list anything resembling a wiki fact here?
I’ll be kind to you and restrain myself from arguing back and forth on pointless issues that stray away from the fight. Please be open-minded enough to allow yourself the benefit of some constructive criticism.
Never start a debate with “My post assumes…” as your opening statement because in all honesty, you do not need to ASSUME anything when the point to discuss is OBVIOUS.
Let me remind you that it was YOU who brought up the Odinforce and whom established the “lets not use it here” argument.

I think it would be pretty much a tie…but if it is in Metropolis or Asgard – anything in the surrounding area would be smashed to dust. I ran this fight through my mind a while back and I am glad it has come onto this site. I see Thor and Superman as near equals but Thor does have Mjonir capable of opening vortexes and commanding storms (primarily thunder and lightning). This is honestly the dream fight for a MArvel vs. DC scenario and I would like it to be explained well.
Before I give a detailed choice…I have to think for a while.

I said let’s not use the odinforce because this is an even and interesting battle without it. With it, the battle too obviously goes to Thor.
Plus, for the sake of inclusion, shouldn’t we use incarnations of characters most well known by non-fans? That way we can have more people get in on the argument.

Well, Superman’s powers are based on physics (albeit convenient COMICbook physics) and Thor’s power’s are… mystical at lease, Straight-Up Magic depending on your take on “the Gods” of Azeroth. Superman is vonrable to Magic, but I suppose the question is whether any of Thor’s Magic would harm Supes. If we assume that brute force and lightening aren’t going to do much to Kal-El, then perhaps not, but I think that if nothing else Thor could block the Sun and eventually wear Superman down…
Despite liking the character of Supes more, I would bet on Thor in the long run…

In my opinion, i think Superman would win over Thor.
From what i know, Thor is able to lift up to 1/3 of the Earth’s weight, when not powered by “Warriors Madness”. Since i know that superman has the strength to move the ENTIRE planet, and even Hold Back Black holes, he outnumbers Thor’s Strength (though i do no know how strong Thor is i full power). In terms of Thor using the weather against superman, Mother Earth ( The ultimate control of weather) does not even phase superman one bit. I know supes is weak against magic, but i am not too sure that Thor uses magic. Also it depends on which superman we are talking about. I know the most recent Superman has the power close to hulks (i ve even heard he ties and/or beats hulk) so if the most recent supes goes against Thor, i think thor is sure to be done for.
If it is the supes from ( i think Modern Era) then it is hard to say but i still vote in favor of superman.
Again, i havent been following this for a while but is the most recent superman the one with the Ability to travel faster than light, and can move planets, or is it the superman that had his powers reduced?

Odinforce is the deciding factor here, with it Thor can literally turn his opponents Sun loving cells against themselves, causing them the irreversibly and rapidly destabilize at a molecular level.
The Soviet Union attempted the same ploy in “The Dark Knight Returns” with an experimental nuke designed produce an almost specialized self-sustaining electromagnetic field, in the resultant aftermath of the detonation (Despite easily surviving the blast) Superman began to weaken and tire, until his entire body began to fall into total cellular degradation at an alarmingly high rate (He appeared as an Old dying Man within seconds). If it was not for the field of Flowers he had landed in, he would have most certainly have died there and then.

thor will win in my book.
March 19, 2009

Hmmm…I have to call it now i guess…: Superman. “Warrior Madness” is great but Hulk can hold that down with one hand. Our old pal Kal-El has moved planets and flown through suns at his top power level: not to mension kill the unkillable at the cost of his own life. Plus…during a Marvel vs. DC crossover comic Superman has been shown to be capable of wielding Mjinor – so a slip up on Thor’s part and he might get bashed a few times by his own super-powerful hammer.
Superman is not a stranger to being hit by lightning – Captain Marvel anyone? But magic in a pure form affects him like a normal human. But regardless – Superman wins.

You know Thor is more naturaly stronger than Super Man or The Hulk. Thor was born with his strength not altered by radiation. He is not only the god of thunder but of the earth as well due to his mother. Super Man is no genius of a fighter if he had to be tought by Batman and Wonderwoman. Thor has went through giants, demi gods, and eternals for thousands of years. Some say Super Man is stronger than Thor but Thor does have the warriors madness that amplifies his power 10x. Thor’s God blast would tear SM’s head off. I don’t see a great contest here if Thor opens up. Plus Thor is infintely more popular than Super Man every will be because we say Thor’s name every week in our daily lives and dedicate the whole day to him. Thursday.

thor wins becuz his hammer is magic and superman`s weakness is magic

Ok lets see. Superman vs Thor. Id give it to Superman because he is stronger and faster than Thor in most comics Ive read. The Hulk can beat Thor and has number of times and Superman can beat the Hulk he has a number of times. Not only that Superman beat Thor in JLA vs Avengers comic.
I see Thor putting up a good fight but I see Superman getting 2 to 3 punches in every 1 hit Thor can because Superman can move almost has fast as the flash and simply put Thor cant. In the end I see Thor tiring and Superman still going.
Now on to are Thors powers Magic? Thors hammer is magic yes but Superman is not weak against Magic I dont know where this came from? Superman can be affected by Magic just like any hero INCLUDING THOR. Wasnt he turned into a frog? Every being is affected by magic Simply put but it is not Supermans weakness. One shot from the hammer will not knock out Superman my reason for that is Captain Marvels powers are granted by Magic but then do not weaken Superman. Superman even beats Captain Marvel. So this issue does not apply in this fight it is just a really heavy ass hammer both can use it to knock the other out and Superman is fast enough to take it from Thor and use it against him before he can see it coming,
Next issue if you give Thor ODIN- FORCE then you must let Superman get his boost also. Superman PRime or Precriss Superman and if that happens Thor Odin force loses still.
Superman is the better man in this one.

there is something very powerful u are forgeting….odinforce
it pretty much allows thor to point at supes and he will die

no contest at all superman would kill thor have you not seen thor vs hulk thor gets brat near death
firstly superman is stronger than thor he moves planets whe at full strength
also hes way way faster
he ismore durible thor would die in a nuke blast supes would walk on oh and thor dosnt have a healing factor like superman
and superman can weild mjolnir
also superman already kicked thors ass
im my scenario if supes intended to kill thor he would just fly into thor hit hima few times to stun him then fly him to and throw him into the sun
magic or no magic thor would loose
July 7, 2009
#37
yes because thors ability(odin force) to kill any enemy he want would have no effect on the fight what so ever……..nice logic there thezzzzzzzz
if supes tries to throw him into the sun thor makes the sun dissapear
if supes tries to puch thor he makes his hands disapear
superman could only lift mjolnir for a short amount of time aswell
the hulk vs dvd isnt canon thor wins

Wait…so it this classic or Odin-Force Thor. Because, with the OF, Thor wins. Classic Thor…hard to say. I am leaning towards Supes, not because of intellegence or fighting skill, but because of speed. Supes moving at FTL speeds would let him put a pounding on Thor before he could react (unless the Thunder God has FTL abilites and reflexes?). Such a good match overall. Still can’t really decide, but leaning slightly towards man of steel.

Without the Odinforce and with Supes boosted up on excess solar energy, then this should be a pretty even fight. I’d love to say that Superman would win, but I’m leaning towards Thor simply because of his divine nature.
With the Odinforce, though, Thor simply has too many advantages and too much raw power for Superman to keep up. Thor wins easily.
