Well, the reality of the situation is that the Cloverfield Monster would tear Stay-Puft to shreds. But if you want to compare movies, Ghostbusters would win by a mile.
Rumor says that there will be another Cloverfield movie in a few years but basically the same story shot in a traditional sense.

Yea, without the foreshadowing storytelling element the movie had, that monster concept is quite silly.
That said, the Cloverfield Monster displayed far more destructive capabilities than Stay-Puft. Not to mention it can spawn many little nasties to rain chaos on the walking dentist appointment.
My vote goes in favor of the ugly.
