Hmm, interesting; regarding as how it says “republic commandos” and not “delta squad” we can assume the entire force which is a massive threat, however you really can’t beat Skynet so this battle is sorta a tie by default.

Sure the commandos easily have the firepower, training, skill, and tactics to annihilate the forces of Skynet, but the thing is practically immune from physical destruction….

However; if the Commandos have a combat AI, I have no doubt the thing would have little trouble erasing the primitive 21st century AI that is Skynet in seconds.

I dont know how the AIs are for the Republic Commandos, but there is no way they can obliterate Skynet as long as they have circuitry in their gear/vehicles.

The Commandos would dominate the hardware fight. So I suppose that does make them the victor. However, Skynet will just hide and learn and hack, and infest, for years uppon years and rise once more, much stronger than it ever was. This is why I think Skynet wins this one in the long run.

Hell. imagine the havoc it will unleash on the universe once the Republic becomes the Empire. Imagine Skynet taking over things like the Star Destroyer, or Sun Crusher, or World Devastators.

No, Skynet cannot be taken lightly. Sure, combat AIs in SW may be more advanced, but Skynet has something absolutely unique. It learns and grows at the pace of a computer but with the cleverness and cunning of a human. Its the perfect Amalgam of genius.

Veredict = Republic Commandos win the battle, but Skynet wins the war.

The Skynet armies would be turned to super-heated scrap in the opening engagements. this is where the Commandos would make massive gains initially.

But the issue of temporal manipulation also tends to put a dampener on opposing forces, which is something the Republic Commandos could overcome if the Planet they were fighting on (I should imagine it would be post-war Earth) were bathed in Ion cannon fire from the on-set.

Which wouldn’t be much of a battle really; but the only way they could ever corner Skynet would be to achieve total surprise (Orbital Bombardment, which I believe is not in line with this fight), fight in Autisitc mode without the use of advanced data networks or uplinks or simply bring along one of their Astromech Droids and have it wipe Skynet on a planet wide scale.

As Alpha has stated, a primitive 21st Century A.I. cannot compete with even a common R2 unit, as long as you isolate Skynet it should be possible to scorch it from the Planet. And if all else fails, blow up the entire Planet itself.

Although that may be cheating.

the rcs could easily destroy them with a rocket launcher They’d evac the living civilians from skynets workcamps and their colonies in the ruins with republic gunships then they’d call for about oh ONE republic gunship to destroy skynet with about 2 blasts from the main gun a rocket and half one of the laser beams.
