Superbowl Special! I know we don’t cover sports all that much here on FactPile, but this actually looks like a fairly even match.
Besides watching for the commercials, I really want the Saints to win. But, I’m not sure that they’ll have enough to pull out a victory.
Who do you think will win?

I’m going with the Colts on this one. Don’t know why, I just am.

Boring. How about Orks vs Space Marines in football? That fits much better with the usual factpile discussion. As for who’d win, I really have no idea.

I don’t place stock in football predictions….. especially not this year.

“I don’t place stock in football predictions….. especially not this year.”
Ditto.
But I would prefer a “FactPile Super Bowl” with two teams of our favorate organizations going at it in super-violent football like Orcs and Space Marines or Jedi and Sith.

Aw, man, not sports. If you have to post sports, please use Blood Bowl. Normal sports just doesn’t fit into the Factple theme IMO.
And how many of you guys watch soccer? It’s far more entertaining in the long run.

Not really, it served the purpose of sufficently killing a joke and indeed it can be seen as a counter-joke that ulitizes a monotone theme to create a brick wall of frankness, which can induce dark humor.
Do you really want to start another feud Mega? I bore of your ass-covering and pointless agruments.

So in other words pointless
If your telling the truth and it was a joke it was a bad joke. This is how you should have replied to it.
” And the Colts would dominate the space marines BTW.”
Alright so the lead quarterback of the Space Marines has been removed from the game due to the fact he was cought juicing. But I have faith that the rookie quarterback can handul this and given the fact he has a Offensive line that has seen hell literally last week they faced off against the Chaos team and Space Marine number 4 got injured by Chaos Daemons on forth and goal and number 69 has replaced number 4 on the offensive line. Now I must admit that both number 29 and 42 was kicked off the team due to the fact that they came out of the closet and lets say that the Space Marines team has a Don’t Ask Don’t Tell Policy when it comes to that and both were never seen or heard from again. Also given that the Head Coach was also “removed” due to reasons they are not telling us and the Coach is not saying anything due to the fact he is missing. But the replacement coach states that his team has a very good chance against the Colts. So after all of the troubles the Space Marine Team has they have a pretty good chance this season to take the Superbowl

But yeah, +1 for the Saints.

@Yamato-kun – being a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, I’m glad the offense made up for the collapse of the ‘vaunted’ Steeler defense…

Oh and Kyle Orton costed the Broncos from getting into the playoffs…although we probably weren’t ready to begin with
February 8, 2010

“Oh and Kyle Orton costed the Broncos from getting into the playoffs…although we probably weren’t ready to begin with”
I hear ya there. My 3 teams are Arizona, Denver, and Chicago, and i’m worried about all three of them next season. Now that Warner’s retired, the cardinals are stuck with the dismally bad Lienart, Orton is just too crappy for Marshall to fully compensate for, and Cuter, who actually good albeit somewhat reckless, has no targets. Hopefully Urlacher will have gotten over his injury for next season.
February 8, 2010
#47
The problem with Cutler is that he takes too many risks, whereas Orton has less of a throwing arm and less strategy…if Orton worked on both then he could very well become one of the greatest Bronco quarterbacks
February 8, 2010
#48
The biggest problem with Orton is that while he can steadily drive the ball up the field, he has no aggressive 2 minute drill. And before anyone starts ripping on Cutler, remember that he was first sting pro-bowl last year.
February 8, 2010
#49
@Yamato-kun – No worries. Please retort. You won’t piss me off. I think Fitz is the best receiver in the game. I was fortunate to watch him when he was at the University of Pittsburgh. With Warner retiring, I’m not sure how well the ‘Cards will do. The Steelers hired the wrong coach, they should’ve taken Wisenhunt.
I used to love the Broncos until they lost 3 times badly in the SuperBowl. Was glad to see Elway get his 2 wins. Chicago? Urlacher is OVER-RATED. However, with Martz coming onboard, I think the QB woes might change.
February 8, 2010
#50
Well then admin, I think the main reasons the steelers won were sheer dumb luck (the pick 6 at the end of the half and the receiver somehow managing to get his toes down on the final TD reception), biased referees (who were fined after the game), and stupid Rothlesberger’s refusal to go down.
February 8, 2010
#51
@Yamato-kun – I agree with you about the referees – it was certainly a phantom roughing the passer call on one part of the drive. Dumb luck – some would say that hard work and preparing generates luck. Holmes catch in the endzone was the highlight of his career – he sucked big time this year. Harrison made the pro bowl this year on his name alone – he certainly didn’t deserve it. Roethlisberger? On that one, I’d have to say that’s his nature – it comes with the territory with him, but I’ll take him over Brady (in his prime) and Manning or any other QB in the league right now.
February 8, 2010
#52
I think someone would have to be blind not to be suspicious of the 3 VERY questionable personal fouls in one drive. And I will admit that Rothlesberger is a good QB, although something must have happened considering how the steelers did this season.
February 8, 2010
#53
yeah, it’s called over rated defense that got old, can’t tackle and is very average without Polamalu. Offense wise, they had 2 1,000 yard receivers for the first time ever, and over 4,000 passing yards for the first time ever in franchise history. I think they are a fringe playoff team next year, only a vastly improved defense will get them anywhere in the playoffs.

Countries that play football (Soccer, to those people who don’t know what the game is called) – All of them
Countries that play Rugby – All of them but America (or at least, if they do no-one cares)
Countries that play Cricket – All of them but American
Countries that play Baseball or care about it – America.
Countries that play American Football, or care about it – America
Partly to drag this marginally back on track, partly to expose my utter haterd for american sports, partly to act against my Loathing for all sports. Except Cricket. Cricket is fantastic.

Someone has issues possibly tied to being physically….. inferior.
I find your comment about baseball being only cared about in America funny because just how wrong it is. Keep it up, mate.
February 10, 2010
#68
Oh I have no problems at all with my physical stature (it rates from Average to spongy), playing the above games is fantastic fun. Watching them… Its like watching a friend play a video game, sure its vaguely entertaining, but really you’re waiting till it’s your turn.
As for global reach, please don’t even try to suggest it comes close to Rugby of Football, or even Cricket (The gentlemans game). While it may well be played elsewher,e and the teams have their fans elsewhere as most big teams do, its nothing on the big three.
February 10, 2010

@ J
Still, your original statement concerning Baseball was terribly wrong as it is a major sport in many Latin American countries and is huge in Japan. You should not have made such an obvious mistake.
February 10, 2010
#70
Latin America = America. hence that “America” at the end of the classification.
Japan may like Baseball, but David Beckham is revered as a God there.
Obvious (not every country in the world plays those sports either) Exaggeration aside, i’m pretty close to accurate. Do calm down Kenny.

Merely trying to keep you honest, J. Can’t have people slandering Baseball.
