Well this week’s title says it all and it is exactly what this week’s article is going to be about. I’ve thought about this a lot the last few days and was thinking it would be an interesting subject matter to talk about.
The Factpile.com website has a slew of characters who fight each other on a daily basis. If I could personally pick one character that I would have to take as my favorite it would be a very tough decision. Originally most of the battles on this website involved the one and only Master chief Character from the Halo 3 universe.
But has since then seen the site evolve into what it is today. Which gives you everything from Superman to unfortunately Xena.
Now Factpile has a ton of character battles on the site and it is very hard for me to say one over another when perhaps one of the other characters on the site could possibly beat my favorite character. I would also think it would be very hard for anyone else here to pick just one villain, hero, cartoon, monster, etc… that they could pick over another.
So I had to take some time and sit down and really think about which and whom I would choose… When I was a child I remember my favorite fictional characters were probably Superman and Batman. Then as I got older I started to get more into X-men and Spiderman but never lost love for any others. Then Dragonball Z came along as I got older and it was great as well. I wasn’t much of a comic book reader but did have a small collection. I kind of wish at times there would be more devoted cartoon movies that properly represented the comic books that you might not ever have gotten a chance to get into much. I say cartoons for a number of reasons because you can lose a lot with actors when doing live action TV series.
But regardless of that and getting back to the overall topic at hand I had narrowed my favorite Factpile character down to two individuals. By taking into consideration a ton of variables. Also thinking about who would beat whom I decided on two that were the best of the best. They were Superman and Goku. I then decided I had to go with Superman just because he has never died and can’t really be beaten without kryptonite.
So that is my favorite overall character on the website. It is pretty hard to argue that anyone could ever come close to beating superman. And you can argue that there are a few characters on the website that cannot be beaten but I had to think about who would outlast them all and then I finally decided it was Superman.
Excluding myself of course because I know I am the overall favorite character on the website and could probably beat Superman myself

I used to like Superman, but now I’m a massive Bat-fan. It’s always been intriguing to me to see a normal man thrown into situations that even Supes would be vexed by. Also, I’m fascinated by the idea that Batman is merely young Bruce’s last dying dream as he bleeds out from the bullet wound Joe Chill gave him, his darkening state of mind leading his imagined alter ego into darker and grimmer adventures as he dies.

I’m not really the biggest fan of Superman or DC for that matter and I always preferred Vegeta over Goku (although Goku is more fun to draw). There’s something I like about characters that push themselves to discover their limits.
Can’t quite say who my absolute favourite is, butat the moment I’m quite fond of Sylar (heroes). My classic favourites have to be Samus, Carnage, Ganondorf and Frieza amongst others.
And great review Thepocalypse, nicely put together. I’ve not heard too much about the film but you’ve convinced me to put it on my to see list. I’ll be sure to check your channel too.

No. I’m not mad in the very least. I just don’t believe that what he is posting is in the correction section.
He just does it to ride my coattails. By me pointing out his issues with his little video and him getting mad it only shows he can not take constructive criticism like I have. He had already criticized me on the exact same things he just said above. Yet as soon as I tell him exactly the truth about his garbage he can’t handle it and all and cries back with the same old tired arguments.
Point being I’m not mad at what he says because he is a joke to me. He has knowledge pertaining to a variety of comics,movies,etc.. on this site. But his skills at video and reviews are 3rd rate at best. All I am saying is to keep his left over bowel movements in his own area of the site. @ROB why are you trying to defend your fav char by saying how strong he is? The strength of a character has nothing to do with likability in my opinion. For example, I like Olimar a lot (obviously….) but he is probably one of the weakest fictional characters ever made. No need to defend your pick in that way. Maybe detail the personality and character traits more than their fighting abilities.

The main character of the Pikmin franchise, a not-so-well-known duo of games on the gamecube features the space venturing captain olimar. It’s a small series, and most people probably don’t know about it, but it is one of those odd games that stick with you. Sorta like how Baron likes Medieval so much.

Superman is cool, but i prefer a fair fight for any battle, even if its my favorite character being beat down. Superman isn’t for me, my overall favorite character on factpile is gonna have to be the MC. Why? Because as far as i see it the master chief isn’t invicible, and because I’m a sucker for powersuits, cybernetics, and genetics.
Now my favorite character not on factpile is gonna have to be Spartan-087, A.K.A. Kelly. Because she like me is a sniper kind of person, and if you ever go against me in Halo 3 you will curse your heart out at me every time a sniper shot goes through your head. The only weapons i ever like to use in Halo is a Battle Rifle and a Sniper Rifle (not to mention energy sword).

It will be nigh impossible for me to determine my outright favorite FactPile combatant. There are several.
If forced to, I would narrow it down to Boba Fett and Samus due to the great discussions that can be made for each. They are both characters that can fill several categories. Not uber like Supes/Hulk, but not weak like Snake/Xena (yes, I went there). They lie in a comfortable light-heavyweight category, and are arguably the top champions there.
Come to think of it. Iron Man could also be right there with them.
So much for diversity in my preferences…

I remember beating that game back in the day it was good times to see it again.
I haven’t really played any of the new Metriods nintinedo has made because I was kind of turned off by the fact they switched over to a first person shooter. I wish they’d go back to standard side scroller or something.

You know what, man. You really, really should.
The people that made the transition knew their shit very well. All 4 Prime games are top-notch. They are not really first person shooters. I see them more as First Person Adventure. I know there will always be some friction between the side scroller and the FPS camps, but this is one of those cases where you can still enjoy both for what they are.
The awesome tunnel fight with Riddley in Corruption alone justifies the FPS medium. The fight felt a LOT like Gandalf beating on the Balrog as they fall through the mountain.
Just epic.
My opinion is that there is still a good market available for the side scrolling answer to the franchise on the hand-held market, like we saw with Fusion and Zero Mission (it is my firm beleif that Hunters should have been done for the Wii). I’m certain we will see another sides croller for the DS (or next-gen hand-held) within the next 2-3 years.

While a good deal of metroid fans find metroid 3 (super metroid) to be the best metroid game, let me say that Metroid Prime (1) at least comes close. In my opinion it is better, but that is entirely up to opinion. Both are stellar examples of a franchise done almost to perfection. While MP3 has some epic moments, it really lacks the ambiguity and nonlinear nature of most metroid games. However, metroid prime 1 and 2 both keep this in my opinion. I agree with mata, you should reconsider. Samus’s leap to 3d was a graceful one, unlike her blue counterpart.

I also like Snake from Metal Gear Solid (go figure). He is a master of CQC (close quarters combat), espionage, and stealth. I’ve always like stealth, I even sneak up behind my friends to scare them. @Dracosphinx – Multi-media: PS3 destroys the 360. Gaming? I take into consideration not only the campaign aspect of the game, but the online play as well. For that, the 360 wins easily.
For me it comes down to the console exclusive titles available to each. Kratos is a bad-ass character to play, but on the 360, I can go teabag ExpertImp as a spartan from Halo.
And as stupid as this sounds, I like the 360′s controller better than the PlayStation. It just feels right to me, compared to the PS3 controllers. So, I’d have to say overall I would chose the 360.
