Megaman X Vs KOS-MOS
Megaman X Vs KOS-MOS

So, I’ve been a fan of the Megaman franchise ever since MM2 was released on the NES. And I confess to not knowing much about Xenosaga, but from what I do know, I don’t think Megaman will last very long in this fight.

What say you?

KOS-MOS has several advantages in this fight. In close quarters I can’t see anything Megaman X can do. He is built for range. KOS-MOS meanwhile has equipment ranging from an ether scythe (F-Scythe), to an energy sword (R-Dragon or Dragontooth), and all manner of weapons that she can morph her arms into, typically a sword. Her physical strength is also above par. On several occasions she has smashed starship bulkhead walls in a second.

I don’t think a ranged fight would turn out much better. Megaman X would probably fair a little bit better, but KOS-MOS’s dual miniguns outperform his buster cannon. KOS-MOS’s sidearm blaster alone destroys the material used in starship windows, causing hull breaches. Of course, then there’s the X-Buster, a wide range beam attack that has incredible scalability and upper bounds. (She wouldn’t be able to get up to those higher bounds in this fight, but I don’t think she’d need to.)

But I haven’t played all of the Megaman games, so it’s possible that he has some advantage I’m overlooking.

Did you forget that X has multiple swords and other close range abilities?
He can also stop time and shoot black holes you know?

“Did you forget that X has multiple swords and other close range abilities?”

What close range abilities is he capable of? multiple swords is a start. Speaking strictly of swords, KOS-MOS has R-Blade, R-Dragon, Dragontooth, and Dragontooth MK II. That’s 4 swords, and she has an arsenal of other weapons. How many swords does X have? I am also curious about Megaman’s feats of strength.

X’s timestop is a neat ability, but regardless, I never seem to be able to get much done in that small amount of time, against Wily’s dinky machines no less, not a combat android built from the collective resources of an entire galaxy and multiple think tanks from competing factions.

The Black Hole Bomb does seem like an awesome weapon, though it has a far smaller event horizon than most natural black holes. I would think KOS-MOS capable of dodging it, but in the event she could not, a Phase Transfer cannon would dimensionally shift it, negating all gravity from mass, countering it.

Those are some of the weapons and armors he gets.
    How durable is KOS-MOS?

    “How durable is KOS-MOS?”

Durable enough that I don’t actually think anything Megaman has would actually cause lasting damage. Aside from her personal shield that can disperse starship crushing blows, she is constructed from the same metals as the Erde Kaiser mecha, a real beast of a machine. Another thing that can’t be ignored is the fact that KOS-MOS has Animus. So aside from her uber-awesome kickass android abilities, she also has some rather… interesting side abilities, like absorbing a swarm of 50,000 starship sized ‘demons’. When Animus kicks in, she’s capable of augmenting all of her abilities by several hundred, maybe even thousand times. While in this state, she disapated a Phase Transfer Cannon blast with one hand. May not seem all that impressive, until you consider that Phase Transfer Cannons can destroy entire star systems.

When a group of 4 individuals, all with comparable power to Dr. Manhattan say that it is outside of their power to destroy KOS-MOS, you know she’s got to be pretty badass.

As awesome as Megaman is, he’s just way out of his league here.

Thats what i first thought, then I thought the match wouldnt be so one-sided, boy was I wrong…

Damn, KOS-MOS sounds like a major powerhouse. What kind of characters could she throw down with Skrunks?

She’s far from backed into a corner in the KOS-MOS Vs Abbadon the Despoiler thread. You have to go pretty high powered to find a good match for her. I suggest Megaman vs KOS-MOS because there has always seemed to be a feud of sorts between their respective communities. You’d definitely need some sort of opponent who is supernaturally powerful rather than extraordinary.

So who posted this CURBSTOMP, cuz it sure aint a match, well if X had the SMF fragments and Mother elf then maybe he could do some good damage…

    A good match for KOS-MOS……….

    Hmm.

    ….

    ….

    ….

You can’t go too high, like Superman level or something, she’d be wrecked. She’d probably be more then a match for even the Incredible Hulk, or most Warhammer 40k characters. She has a unique ability set that allows her to curbstomp most characters that are around her level, but not enough to take on higher teir characters.

How bout KOS-MOS vs. Demon Prince Angron? That might be interesting, but I think KOS-MOS would win in the end.

    Uhm…

OH! I got one that could prove to be interesting. KOS-MOS vs. The Green Lantern

The Doctor from Doctor Who could probably find a way to beat her although obviously not in a straight up fight.

“She’s far from backed into a corner in the KOS-MOS Vs Abbadon the Despoiler thread”

…Well thats technically true, but only because she’s obliterated any and all corners that could be retreated into, and left the Chaos Gods to put up a “Help Wanted” sign on the door to the eye of terror

    @Tim

I do think that would be a good fight! I’d like to see it.

I also meant to note last night that I suggested KOS-MOS vs a Megaman, but I was too sleep deprived to type it out right. Go figure.

Then how about for the sake of this match you tell us, since we all know that she would win and that in your scenario she wouldnt be a shoe-in for victory, hopefully?

I also personally think KOS-MOS would win, but this is a topic my friends and I have debated so I was curious what various scenerios could occur.

Looking up on Megaman X, he can use Dark Hold to stop time. I don’t believe KOS-MOS has any way to defend against this, so it seems to come down to how much damage Megaman X can throw out in those 10 seconds.

Does KOS-MOS heal damage or wounds?

    I’ll suggest it.

    @Envoy

Yes, though to two different degrees.

In the context of the game, she is healed by Ether spells, which is is capable of learning.

Outside this context, her nanomachines are capable of repairing damage she has sustained. Wonderfully, we don’t see any of this within the gameplay, and we don’t see any use of healing Ether spells outside of gameplay. Chalk it up to the RPG elements. Nevertheless, in either case she is capable of healing/repairing herself.

Is there any limit to said nanomachines, If X can recharge his weapon energy fast enough he could do some good damage via dark hold.

Does she get status effects, like poison,stun/paralyze,sleep?
If so then maybe X can access those via charged weapon shots.

No real limit has been posted on the nanomachines, but it does seem that she can’t regenerate limbs (she’s lost them, hasn’t gotten them back). But her defenses are significant, taking vehicle mounted weapons without a problem. It would be really hard to take her down in the time afforded by Dark hold.

“Does she get status effects, like poison,stun/paralyze,sleep?
If so then maybe X can access those via charged weapon shots.”

In the game she can be susceptable to these, but then again, she can get immunities to them, so it probably wouldn’t work so well.

You’re half right on both accounts. Ether ’spells’ are nanomachines. The Ether heals are fueled by releasing a cloud of short lived nanobots to repair the target. It can be used on biological or technological targets. The other types of Ether (like Flame or Beam) are created by channeling energy through the nanomachines and directing them at the target. So yes, the Ether spells are usable canonically, and yes KOS-MOS can heal herself quite well, just not from critical damage.
