Malcolm Reynolds & Jayne Cobbs Vs Han Solo & Chewbacca

For this awesome tag team match there are three categories to determine which team will win:

1.) First – long range combat
2.) Then up close and personal
3.) Finally – smuggling skills

Which side do you think can beat the other?

This goes to Han and Chewie easily, all I need to say is don’t mess with a wookie.

In long range i’d throw this to Jayne and Mal. Cobbs is a weapons expert roughneck and Mal is a crackshot with his pistol, double header to the wookie is taking him out.

Hand to hand, pretty certainly goes to Han and Chewbacca, but Jayne and Mal are scrappers & no strangers to cheap shots and the like, I wouldn’t 100% count them out, but more times than not it’d probably be decided by Chewbacca.

On the smuggling side, it depends on what you mean by smuggling. I mean Mal and his crew have come up with some pretty clever little plans and all, so I think he can think better than Han and Solo, but I’m pretty sure Han is a better pilot than Jayne or Malcolm… so if it’s “who could directly transport ____ to ____” i’d say the Star Wars guys. If you mean “Who could pull off the best heist or plan” i’d probably side with the serenity.

But, since there’s actual clear evidence Han is a better pilot, and only speculation Malcolm is a more resourceful fellow, as of now i’ll keep my vote with Han and Chewie for 2/3 categories.

first round i would say goes to malcolm and jayne, since there both expert marksman, where han and chewie are skilled but not to there level.

second round goes to han and chewie, since no one going to beat the wookie.

the third round is likely to be a draw, both have experiance dealing with galactic authorities, and getting around them, but neither have really made it big in their crime careers.

Hmm…

See, I’d agree for the first two. long range goes to team 1, close combat goes to Chewbacca (Not team 2, Chewbacca)

Smuggling though… Serenity, Mal and Jaynes ship, does seem to have a huge amount of storage space for such a small ship, and a huge host of tricks that serenity can pull off.

On the other hand, the Millenium Falcon is undeniably quicker and, ya know, actually has armaments. Its also more distinctive, and with armaments comes suspicion…

I did want a match up between the crews of both ships, but That would be Han and Chewy (maybe Lando) versus Mal, Jayne, Zoe, River, Sherprd book and,.. the cannon fodder. which is hugely unfair odds.

I am all for the other post for the first two fights but the third will go by the ships they are smuggling with and how there ships have the right stuff for the situation (space, speed, and strangth)

Long range it would be the guy’s from Firefly as I can’t think of a situation that Han and chewie used long range combat, while Jane has been shown to be pretty effective at long range. Even a Wookie would go down if double tapped to the head.

Close combat, the wookie would win no if’s or but’s about it.

As for smuggling well that would be up in the air for both teams to win.

Don’t forget thought that the Millenium Falcon also has additional smuggling compartments the same as Serenity as evidenced in Star Wars: A New Hope. You also have to remember that Star Wars ship have FTL capabilities, so even if the Millenium Falcon does not have the same amount of storage space as Serenity, it can make a trip of the same distance in less time.

I will give you that Malcolm shows a bit more creativity in some of his illicite activities, not all of those crimes are strictly smuggling and the debate is about the smuggling capabilities of the ships and their crews. While Malcolm is arguably the more creative criminal, as a strict smuggler the Millenium Falon and its crew definitly has the edge over the Serenity and its crew.

Ok I HAD to comment on this since it involves two universes I love. Please forgive the long comments and the repetition of some of the other posts.

1) long range I have to give it to Jayne of Team 1. He has demonstrated exceptional sniper skills on at least two occations….In the movie Serenity Mal takes (along with his pistol) a long range rifle with a scope on it. in a battle you grab what you can use effictivly. Han was in the Imperial Officers Accademy so any training would have been in side arm use. any rifle use would have been if he wanted to and we don’t hear much about him using a rifle other then the ‘assualt rifle’ equivalent. But Chewies bowcaster could be a match, the only problem is the cocking of the caster after every bolt. -win team 1

2) up close goes to chewie…..he shoves Han out of the way and backhands jayne and throttles Mal. end of contest. now if pistols are in the mix this might be different. we know that wookies are tough. Tough enough to stop a number of bullets? if by mean by close combat fists only and no knifes (since jayne carries a huge bowie knife) then Chew takes it as Han goes and gets a beer or something. win team 2

3)thisis an interesting one……especially since no one else can be brought in for this. Mal is NOT a pilot. he can fly Serenity but he is not skilled, that was why he hired Wash. Han is a trained pilot. As a child he loved to fly and early on he flew. he even learned how to navagate an asteroid field! Piloting skills – Han Solo win
Smuggling…..if we take into accound the getting the job and going though with it. this then becomes more interesting. Mal and Jaye can both not only GET but also plan them. Han and Chewie can do more jobs as they have a faster ship. but both seem palgued with problems. neither are going to make thier millions anytime soon. The both are running old spaceships that are having problems. But then Han and Chewie aare both mechanics. Jane and Mal are not. if it was up to mal and jayne…..Serenity might be on the ground and not flying. win team 2.

this is a tough one….cause if it is a battle / race then han and chewie might never get off the gound….they could be killed before they enter close for Chewie to rip Jaynes arms off. but if they did then I think Han and Chewie are the more over all experienced. Mal and Jayne have a crew that all are specialists and that can hamper the ‘two man’ crew
