Leprechauns - 7 Things You didn't know

In honor of Saint Patrick’s Day (and yes I know for some of you, it’s just about over already), our friends over at Ranker.com compiled a list of some interesting tidbits aptly named Leprechauns: 7 Things You Probably Didn’t Know.

I personally feel like I can relate to the Clurichaun on some days. I’d say there are a few who can relate as well…

Have a fun and safe St. Patrick’s Day, and raise one for FactPile!

I’m hardly surprised that Leprechauns used to be different, it happens all the time.

I’m part Irish and every St. Patrick’s day I see all sorts of commercials with stupid people doing bad Irish accents and dancing Leprehcauns and it pisses me off now I know why.

Oh it’s Celebrated too and is one of favorite holidays. It’s a good day to get wasted and celebrate our Irish grandparents

    “Celebrated where?”

Plenty of places in America celebrate it. Mostly people who consider themselves Irish, despite the last Irish person in their family most likely being generations ago.

Everywhere my ass. In Ireland and some parts of the US, perhaps, but I’ve never seen it anywhere else.

    “Everywhere my ass”

Sorry I meant to state everywhere in America. Because of the impact of the Irish in America. This Irish Holiday also became an American Holiday. So the entire US celebrates Saint Patricks Day. Even non Irish-Americans celebrate the holiday. Irish had a major impact on US History and Culture.

its to celebrate Saint patrick, patron saint of ireland, and thank him for getting rid of all the snakes.

but for most people its an excuse to get drunk, and joke about leprechauns.

“and thank him for getting rid of all the snakes.”

Whicjh is pretty funny in all honesty.

Paddy: Hey, I got rid of your snakes for you.

    Guy: We…Didn’t have any snakes

Paddy: No…I’m pretty sure you had snakes

Guy: Okay…Guess we should give you a national holiday then.

    Paddy: Score!

HA! The Irish hate the Leprechauns . . . they aren’t true to the original myths.

Kind of reminds me of how the modern idea of “fairies” as little winged pixies came about.
