KOS-MOS (Xenosaga) Vs Abbadon the Despoiler
KOS-MOS Vs Abbadon the Despoiler

Suggested by Skrunks
I have to confess that I’ve never heard of Xenosaga until this request came in. Skrunks claims that KOS-MOS can withstand and possibly defeat some of Warhammer’s most powerful characters.

So, who wins this match?

Well, I know nothing of Xenosaga, so I’m going to wait to see some info on her first. However, she’d need to be pretty damn powerful to take on Chaos’ badboy.

I’m gonna stand back and watch the fireworks. :)

For her to be taking on abbadon who is said to be stronger than horus who nearly killed the emperor she must be tough. However unless she’s imune to her soul being eaten than abbadon might win with a single cut from drach’yn.

I’m with BB, while I’m sure Kos-Mos (dumb name) is strong, can she really be that strong? If so thats insane. Anyway following BBs idea I’m going to sit back and watch ‘em light it up like chinese new year.

Well, thats how I presumed this would go, but I’m still going to wait and see if anyone can post some of KOS-MOS’ powers.

Ooooo, I get it. In the battle requests, the glorious Admin just simply adds the request to the list, and doesn’t actually post the comment…. that makes a lot of sense actually.

    Anyway, onto the battle….

I’ll make a boast right now on KOS-MOS’ behalf, as one of my all time favorite Fictional Characters, at times even superceding Samus as my all time favorite, I believe she is powerful enough to not only stomp Abaddon into the ground, but strong enough that she could have halted the entire 13th Black Crusade without a single Imperial soul lost, and theoretically even powerful enough to seal the Eye of Terror itself.

    Allow me to elaborate:

For the fight, we will use KOS-MOS’ most recent incarnation, the Version 4 Combat Frame. Most of the examples I’ll use here to demonstrate her strength are previous models, since the upper levels of strength on her current form were never disclosed.

First, a lesson on exactly who and what KOS-MOS actually is.

KOS-MOS is an abbreviation for Kosmos Obey Strategic Multiple Operation Systems. She was originally created by Kevin Winnicot under the guise of an Anti-Gnosis weapon system (Gnosis are an extra-dimensional threat to the Xenosaga Universe. Extremely powerful, but more on them later). The actual purpose for KOS-MOS was to be the vessel for the Ressurection of Mary Magdeline, or the human Incarnation of the Animus Power.

The Xenosaga Universe is considerably more complex then most other fictional realms, and for the sake of simplicity, the Lower Domain is “our universe”, I.E. the physical and non physical existance that is tied to us, planets, stars, Dark Matter, everything we know as the universe. The Lower Domain is dual sided, having the Real Numbers Realm and The Imaginary Numbers Realm. The Imaginary Numbers Realm is actually identical to the Warp from Warhammer 40k. For all intents and purposes, its a Spiritual Realm where thoughts become reality and all human consciousness resides. The entire Lower Domain is actually just one small piece of the entire universe, or multi verse or whatever you want to call it. But it is all connected, if one Domain were to become corrupted and fall apart, it would threaten the entire system. Thus the Collective Unconcious residing in the Imaginary Numbers Realm created a fail safe, called Anima. Anima is a power so great that it is capable of collapsing our entire known universe in order to protect the rest of the system. It is also capable of “erasing” any single existence from our universe in order to protect it, as well as a theoretically unlimited amount of reality manipulation. Animus exists as a counterbalance and coplimentary power to Anima. Both have a human incarnation, a will to weild those powers. Yeshua for Anima, and Mary for Animus.

Sometime in the past, a crisis occurred, and Mary perished in an attempt to contain Anima. She was able to divide the power into 12 Vessels of Anima, but at the cost of her life.

A second crisis ocurred sometime in the distant future, a few hundred years at least, possibly even a thousand or more years. There exists an object called the Zohar. What it is is a “doorway” into one of the higher dimensions, the realm of a being known as U-Do. The nature of the connection makes the Zohar appear to be an object capable of generating an unlimited amount of energy when activated. It was activated on Earth, and the resulting emission of so much energy would have colapsed the universe. However, a being known as Wilhelm was able to seal Earth away in a space-time rupture that contained the expanding event.

Anyway, mankind had to leave Earth and take to the stars at near-light speeds, resulting in the trip seeming far longer then it would have been. At least 3000 years in the future, Mankind has 2 major factions, and is spread across 3 galaxies at least. The population is over a quadrillion people. A company called Vector has developed a form of “super internet” called the Unus Mundus Network or UMN. Essentially, imagine if the Internet was capable of instantenous communication across an unlmimited distance, transmission of solid inanimate objects (as in I could email you my X-Box) and through the use of pre-made UMN Columns, a form of Hyperspace travel capable of crossing intergalactic distances in hours.

The only real threat up until a certain point was people killing each other. However, on a planet called Miltia, a massive Space-Time event occurred, similar to the one that occurred on Lost Jerusalem (Earth) in the distant past. A side effect of this was the appearance of a seemingly alien life-form called Gnosis. At first, there was no way to stop them. Every physical and energy based weapon simply passed right through them, they were completely intangible. Furthermore, upon contact, any person would either turn into a salt statue of their former self, or transform into a Gnosis themselves. Gnosification could occur to anything, including planets, and as such Gnosis came in people to bear sizes to monstrous ones kilometers long and even Planet Gnosis, thousands of Kilometers in diameter. It seemed that these creatures were hellbent on the annihilation of humanity.

The first step to finding a counter was a targeting system called the D.S.S.S., it targeting a nano-meter wide “overlap” between real-space and wherever these things are from, and the only vulnerable spot. The same scientist also discovered something called the Hilbert Effect, which forced the Gnosis into Real-space so that they could be harmed with conventional weapons. It is later discovered that Gnosis are actually the souls of humans who reject re-emersion into the collective Unconciousness of Humanity. They began spilling over into the real numbers realm because of the Space-Time event at Miltia, and they lash out at every other human still alive.

It was also discovered that the miraculous UMN was actually mankind exploiting the Collective Unconciousness for travel and communication, and it was extremely unhealthy for mankind.

    _________________________

Like I said, KOS-MOS was officially designed as a Anti-Gnosis weapon system, but was also a means to resurrect Mary Magdalene, the human consciousness of the Animus power. Kevin was succesful on both accounts.

KOS-MOS is constructed out of an advanced unknown polymere with extreme durability, as well as sub-dermal armor plating and an advanced nanite system, allowing her to reform parts of her body into alternative weapons that can be teleported onto her, as well as repairing damage at an impressive rate. She also has a personal force-shield generator, adding to her durability. Furthermore, she has the most advanced D.S.S.S. ever made and a Hilbert Effect generator thousands of times more powerful then any starship, with an effective range of 100,000km+ (In otherwords, she can force any spiritual entity into real space for at least a 100,000km+ in every direction.)

As far as weapons go, she has a pair of F-GSHOT Chainguns, pictured here: http://thussprachzarathustra.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/kos-mos.jpg

as well as numerous other blades, balistic and energy cannons.

Here is a demonstration of KOS-MOS version 1 in a controlled Demonstration. She is restricted inside of an armored suite for safety reasons. Please note that this is her Version 1, and she her power gets exponentnially higher in her Ver 4.

Anyway, that’s all fun and games.

I’ll get to the fun stuff when I get back from work. And that whole lesson on Xenosaga will be necessary in understanding just how powerful she is.

yeah.. probably. those links didnt exactly show how she would destroy the eye of terror, especially with so many other super powered psychos in there.

Part 2: The links were just meant to show a bit of what what she can do, but there are two very important things about her I have yet to talk about.

The First, is something called her Tertiary Weapon System, a Phase Transference Cannon.

Essentially, the Phase Transfererence Cannon produces a tremendous blast, so powerful infact that all matter that comes into contact with the beam is instantly transformed into Energy via direct Energy Conversion. I.E. she could vaporize a planet or even an entire star with this thing. A single shot would completely obliterate Abbadon’s Planet Killer, and the entire ship would be completly converted into energy. It could produce a cascading explosion that would envelop the entire Black Crusade Fleet upon exit of the Eye of Terror. As long as KOS-MOS keeps the beam active and there’s more matter to be converted, the blast radius will continue to expand.

Second, is what I mentioned earlier, Animus.

Animus is the counterbalance to Anima, and it’s control. Using Animus, Nephilim was able to gather over a quadrillion lost souls into one area and dimensionally shift several light years of space to another location. If KOS-MOS could properly harness that power, she could close the Eye of Terror. And since Animus is a part of her own Soul, Drach’yen wouldn’t be able to flay her soul. If the demon made direct contact with KOS-MOS’ soul, the demon would probably be simply absorbed. A demon like that would be nothing compared to manipulating the entire collective unconciousness of a species numbering over a quadrillion.

    Now the Coup de grâce.

All of KOS-MOS’s weapon systems are powered by a constant link to the Zohar itself through the will of Mary Magdeline. Because of this, in times of crisis and the conciousness of Mary becomes active, KOS-MOS is capable of tapping into the power of the Zohar and boosting all of her abilities to theoretically unlimited levels.

    At 3:21 she absorbs 30,000 Gnosis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tmUzsCOMz8&feature=related

Also, as an extension of her standard equipment is her own personal mech, the E.S. Dinah, its as much a part of her standard load out as the Slave 1 is Bobas. The Dinah has many of KOS-MOS’ abilities, including the Phase Transfer Cannon and a massive super-sized X-Buster. The E.S. Dinah is also the only craft in Xenosaga that can access Hyperspace without using a UMN Column. In effect, it can travel from any point in the universe to any other point in the universe without restriction.

I say Abbadon, purely because he’ll always come back and the victory of chaos is inevitable.

Besides, a couple of exchanges with Abbadon will get the gods in your head, and once they are there, you’re fucked.

“The mighty daemon weapon draws its prodigious power from the bound essence of a writhing warp entity that can rend reality apart, named Drach’nyen.2-p.44 The Warmaster uses this weapon as a symbol of his authority, and with it has led his infamous Black Crusades, as well as using it to effect in battle. ”

I think this means Abaddon could slow down time or teleport with this sword, seeing as how it can “Alter” Reality.

“That’s a lot of reading, sir. Will come back when time permits.”

My appologies…. I got sucked up in Xenofanbioism. Alot of that isnt even really necessary. *shifties eyes* Hum de dum dum dum.

“Quick question…if this girl is so powerful… how can there be even a game?”

…you’d have to play it. And this is just her at full power, she starts off considerably weaker. But by the end of the game, it’s pretty much the ‘villans’ trying to convince her to be on their team and the good guys trying to convince her not to be. Most of the game revolves around her, even if it’s not from her perspective, hence why she’s on the cover of all 3 Xenosaga Games, and well, anything Xenosaga related.

“Wow Skrunks, Xenosaga is pretty badass”

Actually, thats the idea. I know that KOS-MOS and Xenosaga in general are extremly powerful, and I cant count the number of times someones has said Warhammer is soooooo overpowered. I purposly put my all-time favorite fictional universe agianst the most popular and almost the most powerful fictional universe on this website to see if its just my fanboism making me believe that its all its cracked up to be. I love how people scrutinize every little detail, and I want to be able to back up my claims when people put it under the microscope, or if it turns out Im wrong, to back down and admit it. Tis why I love Factpile.

The Gnosis kind of remind me of the phantoms from Final Fantasy: The Spirits within movie. But yeah, seems like an interesting fiction universe. Definately gonna start watching the animation soon.

The games look pretty interesting too. If I ever get a chance, I might grab one of them. Thoguh some of them look pretty old and I wonder if I could still find them.

Also… the fact that KOSMOS is on the front boxes of all them… make me wonder if the games are too… girly :3

Well, consider that Xenosaga Episode III actually has to be censored due to blood and gore in order to achieve a T rating here in the US, you don’t need to worry about that :) The first thing KOS-MOS does upon activation is kill her creator. Oh, and the anime is shit. Play the games. I have Xenosaga Episode 1, but I haven’t had a chance to play it yet because as soon as I picked it up, my PS2 decided not to work :/

Anyway, chances are you won’t be able to find any of the games other then E-Bay.

It was a generlization for the sake of simplicity. Xenosaga’s one of those ‘Only shades of Grey’ stories. Ultimately, the ‘villans’ were still trying to save the universe. KOS-MOS has a shining will and will do her absolute best to what she feels is right. The very thought of Chaos would absolutly piss her off. Especially since she actually represents Order, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmos.

@Kenny C. KOS-MOS is an android and thus has no mind over which to take control.

Furthermore, there are two theories for the combination of Mary and KOS-MOS. One is that Mary and OS fused into a single identity. A second is that each remain their own identities, capable of switching control. While both have their arguments, the Xenosaga Perfect guide states that Mary exists after the awakening. This means that KOS-MOS could fight the majority of Chaos, (avoiding being mind controlled) and Mary could take on the Machine god (and avoid its control). One personality saving the other from a bad mistake has happened within the Xenosaga games (KOS-MOS interrupted Mary).

I don’t think mind control tactics is going to give anyone an edge over KOS-MOS. It comes down to a straight on fight. KOS-MOS has the strength, speed, and firepower to take him down.

Abaddon is good, but theres no evidence he could survive this sort of blast, and it doesn’t seem theres over much he could do to stop KOS-MOS.

I think his daemon sword would do the job, it may not be able to take he soul, but with it being able to rend realities, tanks, bunkers and damn near anything else in the 40k universe into tiny bits, it would surely be able to at least hurt her.

Theres just no real way he’d be able to get up close enough to use it.

I’m also of the belief that Drach’Nyen would suffice to destroy her, but i see no real way of making it hit at all…apart from throwing it into the Warp and teleporting it into her skull, i guess.

But this is all so not fair. Warhammer 40K is really on the brink of what you can have power levels at before everything gets far to stupid. But the more i hear of Xenosaga, the more i feel like it goes WAY beyond what is morally acceptable to come up with. Things like this and Marvel goes a bit too far in trying to outdo others in badassery.

Still, Alucard, Khorne and…eh…the uber being in my best friends new story would beat her. For those who care, this thing my bud came up with is TOO sick no matter how you look at it. Slaugthers 666 sixtillion omnipotents every 6 seconds.

The battle in Xenosaga is for the sake of the entire galaxy, nay, the whole universe. You have to be badass to save all that as just a few people in an rpg party. The story is so fantastic I love it! Most of it doesn’t deal with this hidden tear of high power levels, you pretty much find out about it through tiny windows of time in cutscenes. I’d suggest playing it if you have he chance. You really feel like you can kill things at the end of it. Very epic, like FF7.

If we use a one to one relationship, then the Gnosis are Warp demons and KOS-MOS kills planet sized ones. Oh, and wouldn’t being the incarnation of Anima mean that she was already a Warp God in the material plane? She is at least Ctan level min. I doubt Abadon could beat the Nightbringer.

“The mighty daemon weapon draws its prodigious power from the bound essence of a writhing warp entity that can rend reality apart, named Drach’nyen.” Now Im lazy becuase i just wrote out a 5 page thing and it got deleted so now im just gona keep it short and screw grammar.

What the qoute means is that Abbadon can stop time and telepot. Now before we begin lets say something shall we? Abbadon has GODS on his side. Not just technology. So lets get to the battle shall we?

Welcome ladies and gentlemen to tonights battle! Tonight it’s KOS-MOS Vs Abbadon The Despoiler! (clap) Fighters are u ready? ) abbadon “BRING IT”
KOS-MOS “ready as ever!” Then let the fight begin

    GO!

*Abbadon uses the sword and stop time
*Abbadon uses walk and walkes towards KOS-MOS
*Abbadon takes his fight ans prays to the chaos gods
*Abbadon plunges his claw into KOS-MOS and pulls out all of her parts
    *Abbadon starts time again
*KOS-MOS falls to the ground and bursts into flames
    *Abbadon walks away laughing
“PRAISE THE CHAOS GODS!!!” He shouts

KOS-MOS has also caused time-space anomalies in her time. In one circumstance she pulls everyone around her (actually everyone close to the associated Encephalon dive) into a merge reality of 14 years previous. At a different time, KOS-MOS pulls her allies into a conscious domain of the same time 14 years earlier, saving them from a similarly dangerous circumstance.

Furthermore, KOS-MOS has quite a few gods on her side as well, and from what I’ve seen they are significantly more powerful than the chaos gods.

I would say KOS-MOs is just as likely to shove her hand through Abbadon’s chest and rip his heart out. It’s likely on the same order of magnitude as a a space station hull which she bust through with no problem (end of Ep. I)

I won’t get in the details of number 3 as their are items in the game called
“heavens door”(or was that gate) that basically allows you to spam skills for no cost and anyone can equip it and Kos-mos has an ability that lets her do her dmg several times over and take 1 dmg no matter what.
As for non-game mechanic things Kos-mos has done a lot of things that would destroy the opponent she is fighting.
“*Abbadon plunges his claw into KOS-MOS and pulls out all of her parts”
    Abbadon’s claw would probably break.
    His sword might scratch her.
