This match has no fighting. Instead, which one is the better leader? Which one could inspire more to join them? Which one would you want guiding your ship?

Both of them have a huge crew overturn, both of them are more interested in themselves than their crew…
Why would we choose to follow either? I’m all for mutiny!

Yea but Kirk would give his life for his ship and crew. I doubt Jack would do the same.

Jack is one of my all time favourite characters so I’ll go with him.

@SS
Wasn’t that with a lot of persuasion and then they had to tie him up to the mast? o_O
Anyways, I think Jwlynas and Locutus said what’s on my mind…so I’ll have to go with Kirk (from watching the movie).

“I just dont see jack winning this one without me and my parrot theory.”
One of the best damned theores that every came to Factpile. But in the end, I would lean for Kirk. More respectable leader, and I have a feeling he would come back for me if I got captured by Klingons. Jack on the other hand, has a long history of just looking out for himself.

While I agree with the general consensus that Kirk is a lot more trustworthy (shocking, I know). I’d say Jack at least manages to keep his troops motivated, if only because they want to see just which particular brand of insanity he will use to come up with his next order of business.
Personally, I’d go for Jack, just to keep things interesting.

“jack came back to fight the kraken in the second move when he could have got away”
yeah, but even if he had tried to swim, the kraken could have caught up with him so…
jack is still more awesome than kirkthough
i mean, jacks first scene in the first movie (the best of the 3) pretty much classes him as the most awesome captain ever.
i mean, he sails into the harbor, alone, on a boat that is sinking. the music makes it so much more epic

Being able to break out of the grasp of the event horizon on a black hole, I believe, is more epic…..but that is just my opinion…

Ah, but Kirk didn’t do that single handedly did he? and to be fair, jack would have pulled that off with just his rickety boat.
…or by riding sea turtles.

I would say that Jack is more charismatic and inspiring, but I think I’d prefer Kirk on a ship. It might just survive that way.

True true, I do admit, he did have a much better crew at his command (no offense to Jack). Was it just me, or was Kirk just outclassed in every physical fight in that movie? Humans just got thrown around……

I think these leadership battles are cool. I say Jack is cooler but for a leader I would choose to follow Capt. Kirk. Me being a fellow Captain I know what kind of stress goes on.

I am leaning to-wards Captain Jack on this one, he has and can lead his group into battles so doubtful and uncapable of success that it’s astounding. That is true “leadership”. It might not make a great leader, cause of it being a lost battle and all, but it’s what true leadership is.

KIRK: Jack… i see… /leering sideways glance/ that you are… unshaven and hairy…
__- PRICE LINE NEGO TIAT OR!-__
Sparrow: Well g’day to you to mate! /drunken wobble/ im not nearly as hairy as the propotion i be a proposin? Saavy?
KIRK: I am /judo chop to air/ listening…
Sparrow: Will you tell me something? Have you come because you need my help to save a certain distressing damsel? Er… rather damsel in distress? Either one.
KIRK: I am…. not sure /combat roll/ I understand.
Sparrow: /swings a kirks head/ join me
KIRK: /dodges/ But i am… no pirate…
Sparrow: You know, for having such a bleak outlook on pirates you are well on your way to becoming one: sprung a man from jail, commandeered a ship of the fleet, sailed with a buccaneer crew out of Tortuga, and you’re completely obsessed with treasure.
/After a few minutes locked in hand to hand combat, sparrow draws his musket and fires into kirks chest/
Sparrow: This is the day you will always remember as the day that you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow
Kirk:/dies slowly and dramatically, springs back to life and dies slowly and dramatically, springs back to life and dies slowly and dramatically, springs back to life and dies slowly and dramatically./ cough cough
Sparrow: [empties bottle of rum] Why is the rum always gone?
[stands up and staggers drunkenly] Oh… that’s why.
SPARROW FTW ME EARTIES!

Barring that jack’d be puling out a flintlock pistol rather than a Musket (that’d be a hell of a concealed weapon…) damn near perfect scenario Sapper!
Captain Jack all the way.

As awesome as Jack is, he’s no where near as Legendary as Kirk.
Sure Jack took on the Kraken and came back form death, but so did Kirk. Remember Generations? Loved that movie.
But come on, James Tiberius Kirk’s leadership involved who knows how many battles, the destruction of a God-like entity, or two, and outsmarted a genetically engineered super-human who was supposed to be tactically undefeatable. Come on, Khan vs. Kirk. Don’t you dare try and tell me that anything Jack has is anywhere near as epic as that.
Kirk all the way man. Oh yeah and to Sapper’s response:
Kirk on the Bridge of the Enterprise: Sulu…. /judo chops air/ fire… Photon…. /face palms the floor, then bounces back up/ Torpedoes!
The Black Pearl is blown to iddy biddy bitses.

lets who would i join
stuck on boat with nothing but men, the rum’s always gone and all you get is treasure.
or you can fly around the universe with a good chance of being able to punch aliens and banging hot green aliens babes.

I go with Kirk.
He’s much less cowardly and less erratic. I would feel that I’d need to keep on my guard constantly if I was following Jack Sparrow. The lunatic could be leading my out to sea to use my soul to bargan with Davy Jones, for all I know.

“stuck on boat with nothing but men, the rum’s always gone and all you get is treasure.”
Men, that female captain from the first movie, Calypso, and Keira “hottest woman on the damn planet” Knightly. Who needs any more than that, the rest of the crew are too damn focused on complaining and being superstitious to bother with the womenfolk. Barring Jack, and they all hate his ass.
On board the Enterprise on the other hand, you have to compete with Kirk, Dr “Eomer” Bones, Spock, Sulu, scottie and younger spock.
As for the second two points, i’ll lets Homer Simpson’s brain explain that
Brain “Treasure can buy many bottles of rum”
Homer “Explain how!”
Brain “Treasure can be exchanged for good and services…”
