Gears of War Vs Fallout
Gears of War Vs Fallout

Having played both games it’s hard to pick a clear winner since each has their own unique powers that they bring to the table. Set as a universe match, I think Gears of War would win out.

What do you think?

Both exist within a world where resources are few after (or during) a long and destructive war. Some might be tempted to say the Locust horde could overpower the characters of Fallout, but with laser/plasma weapons, I think they’d clean that up quicker than the Gears ever did. The COG forces are significantly less equipped for a long war than the Wastelanders are. The Gears were decimated in the COG-Locust war and they have little food or weaponry left. The Hammer of Dawn will be incapable of firing in another universe as it’ll be unable to locate it’s satellite targeting system. I see the Brotherhood of Steel taking the Gears Universe out alone, but if they cannot, the Enclave certainly will. Fallout wins this one.
BTW: If things go bad for Fallout, they can detonate the scattered nuclear weapons in the wasteland and take the COG down with them.

I’m to lazy much at the moment, so I’ll do a proper, coherent and detailed post later.
But to sum up why Fallout would win: Laser Rifles, Plasma Rifles, and the MIRV

I would say Fallout hands down if it weren’t for the locust horde. It would be a hell of a fight but with weapons like the fatman, scattered undetonated nukes, and energy weapons for infantry I say they stand a really good chance. Home field advantage would be a big deciding factor as well, Which planet are we talking about?

“Which planet are we talking about?”
That does bring up a point. Maybe VS battles ought to have scenarios, like CTF, so that we don’t spend half the time arguing about where and when the battle takes place, or what weapons the characters have. I’d say this should take place in a ruined city as both sides are skilled at combat in such a setting.

A good point at that. If we are talking Sera then the locust will have a field day sinking fallout forces and burrowing into and under nearly any spot they want. If it is post apocalyptic earth then Gears forces may not have the familiar settings, but the locust may just dig in there and start their good old tactics.

I don’t know, fallout is better equipped but I don’t know how well The brotherhood of steel, enclave, and raiders wll deal with units likes Boomers, berserkers, Brumaks, corpsers,Kantus, RAAM, riftworm, theron guards, and skorge.

I’m not saying anything for certain yet but I think the gears universe may just win this with the number of different beasts that they can deploy in bulk.

I’ve been imagining this as a movie and it is awesome to think about. Imagine Brotherhood of steel forces in position all along a city street with a locust battalion with Brumaks at the rear bearing down on them, and suddenly a Brotherhood paladin struts out into the street and points a fatman at them.

    @TheOneSin
The Wastelanders regularly deal with Deathclaws, Behemoths, etc. so I doubt a few Brumaks and Berserkers will be trouble, especially with the Fatman.
Also, were the Fallout troops sunk by a worm, they might survive below ground, as many live in the tunnels belowground anyway.

@Thepocalypse: I get what you are saying but it would be a more than a few brumaks, they call it the locust horde for a reason.

The supermutants and behemoths are a powerful enemy but I’m not sure how well they would fare against the horde. The wastelanders and the stranded are very similar, they fight for survival but lose people every day and both groups are wasting away. The wastelanders are just able to take groups of about ten Supermutants at a time and behemoth if they are lucky, The locust will launch blitzkriegs against the towns like megaton and in places like rivet city the COG will insert forces with their king raven choppers.

“Also, were the Fallout troops sunk by a worm, they might survive below ground, as many live in the tunnels belowground anyway.”

True, but that may depend on what is waiting on them underground. They could fall straight into an army preparing to surface.

From what we can gather from canon sources, there are only 122 Vaults in the continental US (The activities of other nations remains unknown), with only a thousand survivors per Vault at most; leaving the healthy Human population at around an uncomfortable 122,000.

Whilst there are masses of other enclaves such a Ghouls and Mutations, it seems that the total martial population and Military Organization of the Humans is significantly lower than that of Sera, unless I can somehow gather information on the death toll associated with the Locust war.

Yeah score 1 for GOW……One thing that is missing in the Enclave arsenal is the satellite cannon…..Marcus Fenix is fond of using this bad ass weaponry….

Another thing, The Vault’s main purpose is not to shelter civilians, they are used for military & technological experiments, fortunately for Vault 101 that its test was not a gruesome one like the other vaults….

As for the GOW…… Did you know, there are those amongst us who would shatter our hopes of peace, order, and security. These radical malcontents don’t care about you, they don’t care about AMERICA! All they care about is fulfilling their own selfish desires.

brotherhood of steel holds the locust off at the citidel, hundreds of power armoured fanatics tearing locust apart.

then the brumaks arrive, inflicting heavy losses on the brotherhood

before the locust meet liberty prime…

even with prime, the brotherhood is being overrun, millions of locust bearing down on them.

then the lone wanderer appears down the street, fawkes at his side.

    epic moments that’ll never happen

    “so a win for gears.”

Arguably, yes. There is much we don’t know about either universe but from what we know already Gears has this.

lone wanderer VATrapes the entire GOW universe, while fawkes runs around with a rapid fire glowstick.

and if that don’t work, the enclave uses the orbital strikes.

best chance the locust have is hiding underground, breeding for a thousand or so years, and unleashing trillions of locust warriors at the capital wasteland

and even then i dont like their chances

RIFTWORM WILL BURY FALLOUT ALIVE. and even if the fallout univerrse can survive underground theare just just sliding undergrounnd the will all fall thousand of feet. and the HoD wiil destroy anything and is the only thing that can hurt berserkers so they cant be harmed by nukes. the locust also dont need to breed for thousands of years they already have the have an infinite supply of troop billions of brumaks and corpsers will swarm capital wasteland

also all of fallouts guns break unlike GoW they have to be fixed which requires money which will be hard to come by when brumaks and such are as common as grains of sand

Fallout has vastly superior technology and equipment, not just in weapons, but in armor. There are various types of “power armor” in all the Fallout games that not only absorb damage and increase resistence to various attacks, but also boost the strength of the user.

Fallout also has PLASMA weapons, which can “turn a man to goo.” There’s also laser weapons, though they aren’t quite as impressive as plasma. There are very few weapons in GoW that could compete with that. Not to mention, if you count everything in Fallout, there are also alien blasters and a firelance for the Fallout universe. These are enormously powerful examples of alien technology that can kill the strongest enemies in a single hit, except maybe a Super Mutant Behemoth, who can take a few shots at most.

Speaking of Behemoths, those things would tear right through the Gears universe. They stand at least 20 feet tall! They make Boomers look like Barbie dolls, and have enough stamina to survive a min-nuke at that.

Deathclaws, anyone? If you’ve ever met one of those bastards in Fallout 3, you know that’s serious business we’re talking about. They have claws that can cut through power armor! I’m not kidding; slice right through powered armor. They would take out most Gears creatures and soldiers in a couple of hits up close.

Plus, Fallout characters can have perks/traits, which dramatically enhance their abilities. A good example is “solar powered” which grants increased strength and a healing factor to the character so long as they are exposed to direct sunlight. The Lone Wanderer, armed up with all the weapons and a whole load of perks, would kick Marcus Fenix’s ass with one arm and one leg crippled.

So, in conclusion, Fallout stomps Gears of War.
