Making his debut on FactPile is Garra from the Naruto series. While I know a ton of characters from that show are powerful, I think people underestimate the power that Aang can deal out. In his regular state, Aang can handle a lot of opposition. In the Avatar state, I’d put him up against some of the toughest fighters on this site – but those matches are for a different day.
I think Aang wins this match fairly easily – what say you?

Because sand doesn’t intercept water. Garra can harden it to stop the water but in doing so he leaves himself wide open from an attack from underneath namely a razor sharp rock pillar going right between his legs. And since he doesn’t have that sand demon thing anymore(a fact you guys are neglecting) he won’t have the reaction speed required to block it. Actually most of Aang’s attacks Garra lacks the reaction speed to block. Garra’s most impressive feats were with the Demon. He lack that now so unless he has the reaction speed comparable to Rock Lee he’s getting a pebble moving beyond sonic speed right between the eyes.

Okay, point taken. PS I haven’t seen the later episodes, I dont know why but I will. Anyway: Isn’t the point of most of these duel debates meant to be when they have their best utilities? I swear I remember something about that in the debate rules.

“he has the reaction speed comparable to Rock Lee ”
Nope he doesn’t have speed reation a good example was when he was fighting rock lee. Gaara nor his sand could keep up with rock lee’s super sonic movement..

@Rorschach-Its not about the sandbending. Its the fact that Aang can attack at a pace that Garra can not keep up with and at a distance far out of his reach. I looked up Garra flying. Never happened. Therefore Aang can attack unabated until Garra is a greese stain. And without that Demon Garra can’t keep up with Aang especially since in Avatar mode Aang can attack with all the elements at the same time aka throw a big ass wave of water in which Garra will attempt to intercept. When he does Aang can either
1. Send a hypersonic pebble through his brain
2. Kabob his ass with a razor sharp pillar right up his ass Vlad The Impaler style
Just a couple of options

@Chuck-Thanks for clearing that up. In that case Aang blitz him aerial bomber style and shreds him in a hail of armour piercing pebbles that move faster then bullets and hits with the force of a cannon.

That’s still not saving him from being speed blitz. Gaara defenses easily get broken by speedsters (rock lee and sasuke) gaara’s actual weakness is him being slow

why has nobody addressed the fact that aang couldn’t even deal with the emotional distress of having to take a life “since all life is precious” or wtf they teach in the monk temples. While aang is struggling with the final blow and crying, Gara is pretty much going to crush him in a sand tomb.
August 30, 2010

GTFO ace. Did you forget the fact that Aang can fly. Aang has all the time he needs to contemplate what he wants to do and there’s nothing Garra can do about it. So while Garra is busy being mad and looking very faggy Aang will turn him into swiss cheese. See I can be condescending too. Now add something to the debate or leave. We don’t need and trolls around here.

Meh, still though I will agree Gaara has a strong chance of loosing, but considering just how strong he is, even without the Shukaku, would still make for a very powerful enemy. Let us not forget that he did become the Kazekage.

@Ryushi-Oh no I’m not saying he’s weak. He’s pretty powerful for fag but he’s just not on Aang’s level. Note that Aang is a fag too but he’s less of a fag then Garra. I mean common tomato soup red hair, eye liner, no interest in women, and no facial hair. Yep he’s gay.

Well just because it was done with the Shukaku, doesn’t necessarily mean the defense still couldn’t be used, it would just require chakra, unlike previous times. And it was actually called the Ultimate Defense. So — yeah . . .

@Envoy-Nope but this is to the death. I can tell your at your last line of defense so you have to resort to gimping like “hurr durr aang doesn’t kill so he loses hurr”. God you people love the Japanese emo queers a lot don’t you. Fucking weebos. Just give it up Aang stomps him and you know it.

Pause, did we get all that? Summary is: Sauske who moved faster than normal human sight could not overcome Rock Lee, Rock moved faster than the normal human limit of movement (faster than sight, presumably). This speed proved ineffective against Gaara’s sand and Lee had to move even faster to hit him, and even then Gaara was able to set up an armor of sand on his skin, and convert his gourd to sand to break his fall. Conclusion, Gaara’s sand is around the normal human limit for sight and speed, at least.

Haku was formerly light speed, over time he slowed down due to lack of chakra. By the time Demon Naruto Speed Blitzed him, Haku was still beyond Sauske’s Sharingan, (enhanced sight) but still slower than light speed. Conclusion, Demon Naruto was well beyond the normal human limit of sight, and even had surpassed the limit of sight possessed by an incomplete Sharingan. The same Demon Naruto cant even land a hit on Kimimaro, Rock lee appears, displays the same speed, and is rendered useless. Gaara pops in, and his sand turns everything around. Conclusion, Gaara leveled up since his last appearance and his sand is at the speed where he could take on Demon Naruto and Rock Lee effectively (If haven’t guessed already, these speeds are beyond human limits of both sight and movement).

With an imperfect Sharingan, Haku moved was able to move faster than this enhanced sight, even when tired. Demon Naruto speed blitzed Haku, and even Lee moved at a speed that Sauske couldn’t react to. With a perfect Sharingan Sauske could see Demon Naruto’s attacks and what happens before them, something his previous Sharingan couldn’t do. In Shippuden, Gaara’s sand doesn’t show much speed other than crossing distance in extremely short amounts of time, however when the Raikage dodges Sauske’s enhanced vision he gets bumped up to the level of a “top speedster”, Gaara’s sand blocking his attacks put him it at a high speed as well.

That’s all nice but how does that save him from drowning? Like I said before bury him under 1000s of gallons of water. Then freeze it. Match over. And I saw the episodes since I like Rock Lee and Neji since they are the only ones in the show that aren’t gay and actually knows how to, you know, fight with some semblance of martial ability. The rest of them just spam jutsus or flail around throw retarded looking kicks and ugly ass haymakers. Anyways unless you got a defense for the drown+freeze combo from the upper stratosphere Garra doesn’t have a prayer. Everybody else knows Garra is screwed and all have admitted it already except you.
And debates do cause I typically win because I don’t argue unless I know the whole story and do it from an unbiased point of view since I don’t really like any of the characters debated on this site thus far. Unlike certain someones.

But this is getting boring so let me break it down for you why nothing in the Naruto series is fast enough to react to Aang’s pebble air strike attack.
Aang took 10ft boulders and condensed them to the size of his head. He then launched them in shards the size of his finger nail. Now if you ever thrown a pebble you’d know that you cant get much distance with them since they are too light. Not Aang. He shot them with enough force to topple 20ft thick stone pillars. If you know anything about velocity you’d know that not even bullets go fast enough to do that and at most would simply chip the stone. Aang ripped them in half. That means the speed of these pebbles is beyond that of most modern day firearms.
Since you have no actual numbers for anyone on the shows speed really I’ll assume they move at an even 200mph(the speed of an arrow shot from a British Longbow). This is still in no way faster then what Aang accomplished. Now unless you have actual scans of Garra blocking something that is moving at velocities faster then even the heaviest caliber bullets then no Garra can’t block it. Even Sephiroth isn’t fast enough to dodge that attack. The only thing that saves him is the fact he can teleport.

Gaara blocks with sand. He has a 15cm thick ball of harder-than-steel sand to protect him. I don’t know this stuff well enough to say if that’s a successful block, but he has his armor underneath which is dang hard. No matter, he would need to have the shield there in advance, he cannot react to them, that’s true.
A good tactic would be to encase himself in sand from his gourd, then get more sand from the surroundings to boost his defence and then put up an eye of sand. Now he has good protection and can fly, but he hasn’t lost his sight. He can crush surrounding rocks to use as sand for an attack.
August 31, 2010
#31
@Whacko-He couldn’t even block Rock Lee’s attacks who couldn’t be moving faster then 200-300mph. Aang can throw those pebbles past the speed of most modern firearms barring railguns which is probably equal in speed and velocity. Unless Garra can block a round from a railgun(highly unlikely)he’s not block those pebble. And Railguns rip through steel like tissue paper.
But that’s not even necessary. Aang can, for the 100th time, smash Garra in the face with an extremely large amount of water and keep him under there for a few minutes till he drowns(unless he has gills of course) or freezing, And yes he can do that.
August 31, 2010
#32
Marauder, I am sorry, but comparing that one attack to Lee’s speed (which before unlocking five of the 8 inner gates) he could only get through about twice. I’d like actual speed estimates between your mentioning of Aang’s speedy attack and Lee’s speed without his ankle weights. But we can’t get that now can we?
August 31, 2010
#33
Are we completely disregarding CIS now? Why is it that every fight that involves Aang, someone comes up with the idea that he can just drown, crush, burn, or asphyxiate his opponent? When has Aang ever shown this characteristic in the show?
August 31, 2010
#34
“That’s all nice but how does that save him from drowning?”
Other than the fact that Aang won’t be doing that, Gaara’s sand will be moving at speeds Aang cannot perceive.
“Like I said before bury him under 1000s of gallons of water. Then freeze it. Match over.”
Made up numbers, great. Now could you show Aang doing this, we use feats in debates, if you haven’t noticed.
“Anyways unless you got a defense for the drown+freeze combo from the upper stratosphere Garra doesn’t have a prayer.”
Now Aang has traveled to the upper stratosphere, source.
“And debates do cause I typically win because I don’t argue unless I know the whole story and do it from an unbiased point of view since I don’t really like any of the characters debated on this site thus far. Unlike certain someones.”
Oh, so you must know about the time where they spent an entire episode on Aang’s soul search for an alternative to murder, because it went against his way of life and ethics. You must also know about the time when Aang purposefully redirected lightning away from Ozai, for fear that he would kill him. In the same fight Aang entered he Avatar State, and after finally beating Ozai down, he halted his killing blow and exited the Avatar State because he doesn’t kill people. You must have known.
“Aang took 10ft boulders and condensed them to the size of his head. He then launched them in shards the size of his finger nail.”
Golly gee, where do you’re number come from, Size too! Wow, I’d love to know where this comes from.
“He shot them with enough force to topple 20ft thick stone pillars.”
I’m sorry when?
“Since you have no actual numbers for anyone on the shows speed really I’ll assume they move at an even 200mph(the speed of an arrow shot from a British Longbow).”
….So instead of going with the as of late unknown “speed of sight” (something we all have), you make up a number from god knows where and feed it to your “argument”. That still doesn’t change the fact that Gaara’s attacks are moving at speeds beyond the human range of sight. In other words, unless you can prove Aang can see objects moving so fast normal people can’t see them.
“But this is getting boring so let me break it down for you why nothing in the Naruto series is fast enough to react to Aang’s pebble air strike attack.”
So after providing no sources you, claim Aang is better. That is quite the troll move.

what doesnt this have to do with anything, yea he couldnt keep with rock lee then, but soon afterwards his sand was an even pace for kimimaro, and after that fast enough to block deidaras city buster from destroying the city after it detonated, appearing instantly. idk how what happened with lee has anything to do with this, that weakness is a whole series old.
“. Aang can, for the 100th time, smash Garra in the face with an extremely large amount of water and keep him under there for a few minutes till he drowns(unless he has gills of course) or freezing, And yes he can do that.”
where is aang gonna get all this water from? we fighting nxt too a lake? oh and you act as if gaara couldnt defend against something like this one he would be in his dome of sand and just fly out.
“Because sand doesn’t intercept water. Garra can harden it to stop the water but in doing so he leaves himself wide open from an attack from underneath namely a razor sharp rock pillar going right between his legs.”
mmmm…what? when has him hardening his defense ever left him vulnerable? last i checked his entire bout with deidara took place inside his little steel hard sand shell, with him raping the yellow haired faggot.
“And since he doesn’t have that sand demon thing anymore(a fact you guys are neglecting) he won’t have the reaction speed required to block it.”
no one is neglecting it, your just attempting to extrapolate it to make it sound like a weakness. the truth is its unqualifiable, the only influence we know the shukaku had on Gaara are
insomnia
auto defense
shukaku form
attacks look like shukaku parts.
other then that the series hasnt elaborated on how much power gaara regularly barrowed from shukaku if any. so thats a dead end.

@Darkx-How fast did this city buster move? I have confirmed via deductive reasoning(I’m not good with math so I use deductive reasoning instead) that Aang can launch pebbles at speed beyond bullets. Aang is around 4’2-5(the average size for a 12 year old boy). Those pillars they were standing on had to be at least 15-20ft thick(if you lay Aang down it would take 3-4 of him to stretch from one end to the other). Most modern day firearms can not bust through this at such a small size(those rocks if you look closely were the size of his fingertips). This means that he had to send those pebbles(still trying to figure out how he got any distance with them at all) at a velocity beyond that of modern day ballistics.I’m talking railgun speed since even a 308. fired at full out could not accomplish the amount of destruction he was able to accomplished in a single second.
As for the pillar Garra can only block what he sees coming. Last time I checked his attackers usually came from in front, behind, or maybe above. They however never came at him from beneath so most of his defense will be centered in the direction of his opponent(last time I seen him fight). Logically speaking he lacks the reaction speed to block something he doesn’t know is coming.
As for the water unless they are in a desert there has to be water somewhere whether underneath or in a lake somewhere. That just how ecology works. But the matchmaker didn’t specify what type of environment this was so I’ll leave that alone for now since it could be a desert. But if worse comes to worse Aang can cloudbend and make condensation(again amount of water extracted from the air depends on the environment)
As for the demon it is a weakness. Garra’s so called “ultimate defense” relied on that thing. Now that its gone his defense is no longer “ultimate”(lol at ultimate defense. It reeks of hyperbole) meaning he has to know its coming in order to react to it. That’s all I’m saying. The rest of what it does is irrelevant since his defensive abilities are what made him so dangerous. As for the chakra part I pretty sure he used it for extra chakra. That sand doesn’t move itself you know and the large quantities he uses suggests he needs extra chakra to perform those moves same as Naruto using his Shadow Clone Jutsu(even Kakashi or however you spell his name said that its amazing that Naruto is able to create so many of them and them all being solid suggesting its not something that your average ninja pulls off)

Oh funny fact I just learned. Apparently waterbender can use turn water into steam, send it drifting over you, and then freeze it. They can also freeze and generally bend the sweat on an opponents body. Interesting prospect there. Actually according to Aang and Kitara anything that’s partially water can be bended. I’m gonna save that thought for future memory since I’m not sure if Garra sweats or not so it may be irrelevant here.

Re-watch your scene, what pillars fall? If you notice, nothing is shown but extreme amounts of dust. Dust does not equal total destruction.
“As for the pillar Garra can only block what he sees coming.”
1. What pillar?
2. Gaara is normally talking in his surroundings at speeds we, as normal people, cannot perceive. Which of Aang’s attacks can reach this speed, how can Aang launch that attack if he is crushed at speeds he cannot see.
“But if worse comes to worse Aang can cloudbend and make condensation(again amount of water extracted from the air depends on the environment)”
That is bloodbending, the art of controlling microscopic amounts of water. Aang lacks the ability to bloodbend.
“As for the demon it is a weakness. Garra’s so called “ultimate defense” relied on that thing.”
Except it didn’t, it did nothing but move sand to protect Gaara, and only Gaara.
“Now that its gone his defense is no longer “ultimate””
No, because the only this it did was move sand. It never helped harden it past steel, it never attacked anyone.
“meaning he has to know its coming in order to react to it. That’s all I’m saying.”
Yes, he attacks and defends against things much faster than any normal human can muster on a regular basis.
“The rest of what it does is irrelevant since his defensive abilities are what made him so dangerous.”
Because burying your opponent underneath a desert of your own creation isn’t dangerous.
“As for the chakra part I pretty sure he used it for extra chakra.”
I’m not, can you prove it? I have never seen Gaara or anyone say that he borrows chakra from Shukaku.
“That sand doesn’t move itself you know and the large quantities he uses suggests he needs extra chakra to perform those moves”
No I don’t, never seen that, would you like to show us?

Pause it 5.41 and look to the bottom left corner you clearly see the pillars falling. And he did this from a diagonal angle meaning it hits harder then I thought. Envoy maybe you need glasses.
2. What pillar? If you need to ask this once again you need glasses.
3. Bloodbending is different since it can only be done on a fullmoon. Taking water out the air is a different technique proof?
Cloudbending: In, “The Fortuneteller”, it’s shown that (because clouds are made with water and air), a skilled Waterbender or Airbender can manipulate them easily to create various shapes (used in that instance to provide a message to nearby villagers). It was later used as a defense by Aang and his friends to disguise their flights on Appa while moving about the Fire Nation. It is unknown if a Waterbender can perform this technique without an Airbender and vice versa.
Sweat Manipulation: First shown by Katara “The Runaway”, resourceful Waterbenders can bend their own sweat to be used as a makeshift weapon or tool in the case of being separated from other sources of water.

4. What are you talking about. Who else would it be defending but Garra Naruto? No point made here
5. True he does defend against things faster then most humans. Luckily for Aang he’s not a regular human either. He faster then every other human due to not being effected by wind resistance and propelling himself via airbending. But these attacks Aang will be throwing won’t come from one angle but from in front, behind, underneath, the sides, pretty much every angle you can think of.
6. I’m not going to touch on that since I’m basing my assumption off of the show and what Kakashi said. Doesn’t matter anyways
So Envoy out of your whole post can you please tell me exactly what your getting at?
Oh and I just found out that apparently in Avatar State Aang has a technique called Remote Waterbending. Proof?
Remote Waterbending: As seen in “Sozin’s Comet, Part 4: Avatar Aang”, Avatars can use Waterbending from distances which a Waterbender would not normally be able to. While in combat with Ozai Aang goes into the Avatar State and pulls water in from the sea towards himself to make part of his elemental sphere. After defeating Ozai, Aang raises the tides of the sea to put out the fire at Wulong Forest caused by Ozai and his airships.
So if water isn’t extremely far away Aang can use it. However this could be the desert for all I know. Whoever suggested this match wasn’t too specific. From now environments should be mandatory in descriptions.
