    Galactus.

Manhattans equivalant would Silver Surfer in the Marvel Universe.

Given how much power Galactus is lording over his herald, well thats quite abit on top of the Doc isn’t it?

That and Galactus has the UltimateNullifier. That alone pretty much clinches it.

After countless millenias of fighting, I think they will both go give up and get a good old bottle of wiskey (though i doubt their would be enough beer to satisfy Galactus…he would be such a party-crasher…..)

That and the Doc is sorely overrated in terms of power. All we’ve seen from him is some fancy molecular altering abilities.

He isn’t that much more powerful than surfer.

Actually Manhattan sort of is. He was able to reconstruct himself after being dissolved into the tiniest of molecules. He is also able to make himself any size he wishes, make clones, and see time simultaneously. To me that can give the silver surfer the curbstomp he so deserved.

While i dont know the full capacity of Gaclactus, seeing that he survived a penance stare, i know that he is one of the most powerful beings in the marvel universe.

to me this will turn out to be a tie or a long damn battle.

Only the Anti-Monitor has presented an epic challenge for Galactus thus far (It’s still unresolved).

That wouldn’t save Manhattan from surfers energy manipulation capabilities.

You know, i have never even heard of Dr. Manhattan. but after reading through comments, i think Manhattan would win. If he can be any size he wants and make clones, then galactus is done.

  • Mr. Gray

    @ marche
Manhattan is basically pure energy. In both the movie and the book (yes i’ve viewed both) Manhattan’s whole goal is to create an unlimited supply of energy to stop the war over fuel. He, with Ozymandias, were creating a machine to replicate his powers, which in turn could make an endless supply of energy. I think this proves that surfers energy manipulation is but a tick on Manhattan since he could either absorb it or make it phase through him.
p.s. manhattan is also capable of intagibility, he showcased that in the movie and book.)

“Only the Anti-Monitor has presented an epic challenge for Galactus thus far (It’s still unresolved).”

Anti-Moniter maybe, but Galactus would also have had to get creative to defeat Unicron and or the Dragon Trio

Anyways, I really don’t see what the big deal over Dr. Manhattan is about. I know he is from the movies Watchmen, but is he a Marvel or DC character?

  • Marche
    September 17, 2009
    #18

But Manhattan himself doesn’t have a machine to replicate his powers on any given occasion.
Intangbility won’t help him against energy absorption,or BFR.

“If he can be any size he wants and make clones, then galactus is done.”
    I don’t see how.

Size changing is not that big of a deal(Galactus can do it)

Clones will just be more for Big G to absorb.

Based on what i’ve heard from outside sources. I believe Galactus would win. Oh and it’s funny how you can see Dr. Manhattan’s “junk” in Watchmen. In a way gives me a hint as to why he’s called Dr. “Manhattan”.

  • AHEM

I’m giving my support to Galactus, unless he’s starved and desperately needs to eat another planet. Everything Manhattan can do–change shape, manipulate energy and molecules, survive devestating damage, absorb energy, warp reality–Galactus and do, and better, in most cases. His cosmic power is just too massive.

didn’t Galactus get curbstomped by hulk? what’s that got to do with anything you ask…i don’t know..yet. depends on whether or not Galactus in intangible, and even then, do intangible objects have any sort of molecular make up that can be rearranged by Manhattan?

“Oh and it’s funny how you can see Dr. Manhattan’s “junk” in Watchmen. In a way gives me a hint as to why he’s called Dr. “Manhattan”.” lolol

“Intangbility won’t help him against energy absorption,or BFR.”

is there a limit as to how much energy Galactus can absorb?eeing as how Manhattan is an endless(?)supply of energy?

“is there a limit as to how much energy Galactus can absorb?eeing as how Manhattan is an endless(?)supply of energy?”

I give this to Dr. Manhatten.

Why? Because he’s a scientist. Analyzing subjects, determining limiting factors, theorizing solutions, and deducing methodologies are all tools of the trade for a scientist. Even if galacticus can overpower Manhatten physicly, Manhatten can deduce a weakpoint in Galacticus’s absorbsion method and use it to his advantage.

Galacticus may be eons old, but he really hasn’t changed much in the last few millenia. He, like most immortals, has become static and unchanging. He doesn’t ever search for new methods, just repeats the same pattern over and over.

  • Asger
    September 18, 2009

Galactus has scientific knowledge beyond human comprehension. Galactus would consider Manhattan the mental equivalant of a flea.

And he ‘repeats paterns over and over again’ because it’s his purpose in existance (Much like his ‘siblings’ Eternity and Death). Galactus’ role is to destroy and recreate the universe during the Big Crunch. And that’s all he really cares about.

  • Belisaurius
    September 18, 2009
    #28

Considering that Dr. Manhatten is way beyond human understanding as well, considering the mind needed to keep track of matter on the molecular level for anything bigger than a samwich.

And repeating patterns is still a weakness regardless of intent.

  • Asger

So you’re saying Manhattan could somehow stop Galactus consuming worlds?

That’d be alot harder then you’re making it out to be. And he can’t just destroy worlds Galactus wants to eat and then dissapear, because Cosmic Awareness means Galactus can easily track Manhattan anywhere.

That and Galactus has a device that can utterly erase Manhattan from existance.

As I can recall both are immeasurably powerful beings in a lot of prolonged terms, and I may clarify that even If Manhattan may be at a higher scale-level of power than the mighty herald of Galactus, in this case the Silver Surfer, that does not wipe out the possibility of the Surfer wearing out the Doctor due to the fact that the Silver Surfer has fought many cosmic level beings with such power but who abuse it without using it with caution or principles, these ones being Thanos and the Super-Skrull!! I also, do believe that the Surfer has fought Mephisto on many odd occasions, therefore stating that he is not a pushover, Galactus can finish the job if that were the case but for now the battle is either a tie or is left to be unresolved.

Haha, I was chuckling when I say this…..anyway, Galactus is the Sentience of the [previous] Universe” and Galan (who was the survivor the of the previous universe. His powers range from:

“including the molecular restructuring and transmutation of matter,[32][33][34] the teleportation of objects — even an entire galaxy[35] — across space [36] or time,[37] size-alteration,[35] the projection of energy with indeterminable destructive force,[38] the erection of nearly impenetrable force fields,[32] the creation of interdimensional[39] and intra-dimensional portals,[40] telepathy,[41] telekinesis,[42] and a form of cosmic awareness.[43] Galactus has even shown the abilities to create sentient life,[44] simultaneously reconstitute himself and others from complete physical destruction,[45] resurrect the dead,[46][47] manipulate mortal souls[48] as well as memories and emotions,[49] and restore dead planets along with their population in every detail.[49]”
