There have been people asking for a trophy of sorts for winners of the battles. So, here we have our first version of this award. The first recipient of the award is the Star Wars Universe in their battle against the Halo Universe.
However, this award will not be given out on the basis of a few votes or the number of times someone posts that their respective side is better. Only the matches that have fair representation on both sides and comments without flaming insults will qualify for the award, and the winner needs to have a nomination as well to qualify.
In the future, as more qualify, we’ll consider having a ‘Hall of Fame’ section for all the winners. The losers? Nothing but teabags for you…
UPDATE: (9.27.2009) – I’ve decided that I will award HOF winners on Sunday nights. This doesn’t mean there will e one every week, so let’s keep it real.

AH HA HA!!! Just because you posted on this thread first doesn’t mean fellow factpilers came here “following” you. The thread was still young before you posted; the thread wasn’t dead, you posted the same day it was made. And guess who else did? Mata. And that post was barely fifteen minutes after yours, which leads me to believe your post was not moderated before his, but rather the same time. Meaning he was not aware of your post. Shortly after, Mata clearly took the helm of this thread along with the Admin, not you. Not that it matters, these threads sail themselves.
So with the threads that I posted on first that were followed by a few dozen other posts, doesn’t that make me a shepherd? No, these threads were just young, as this one was when the first post was made.

No, no, no, no, no.
I am somehow incapable of viewing the actual match to see what was the reason behind it, but I refuse to accept the fact that a well established Factpile Award is so easily contested and subsequently removed from a battle (SW vs Halo).
Consider this my formal protest against this and any other such situation that might arise. Should new posters uncover fresh information that is pertinent to the battle, then they may either suggest a rematch or take it to the forums, not strip a hard earned award from the victor.

I also put forth my formal protest.
The fact that a hard earned victory is overturned by a few weak kneed, inconsequential and a highly vocal minorities irritates me beyond belief (I destroyed every one of Frieza’s so called “calculations” with just one post – is this really the quality of debate we can expect?). There is clearly something more sinister abounds if this is the case.

I have a noob question; how come there are so many matches that have fair representation along with nominations in the battle but the award isn’t given out too much. Matches like MC vs Batman, Dante vs Bayonetta and Snake vs Marcus Fenix seem like they have clear winners but no award is given. Is it because of flame comments that might be there?

@Soldier’s Shadow – The award is not just given out because of a clear victor. The winning side needs to be nominated multiple times, and just because that happens, doesn’t assure a win. Typically the best results are when two sides argue and then one side gives in to the other.
Also, they aren’t just given out all the time. Only on Sundays, and only after a worthy battle.

Doctor Manhattan versus MasterChief, I got initiation on that one, and was just amazed at why it was posted as a battle, MasterChief has no chance of winning that one, also I give another nomination for Superman to win against Goku.
