Here’s a fun match that places two fighters with great powers of regeneration to the test. On the surface, it would appear that Durge would have the advantage, but Ghost Rider could counter just about all of his attacks.
Who do you think would win?

Well, Durge has nothing that could even remotely harm the Rider in any way that would cause permanent damage. So the question is whether or not GR has the juice to eliminate the bounty hunter.
First, we have the obvious Penance Stare. This attack could wtfown other beings with regenerating abilities, but I have an opinion that it might not do any harm at all onto Durge. I’ll leave this point open for debate.
Second, we have the potent Hellfire attacks. These could do one of two things, either scorch whatever Durge might call a soul, or incinerate away his every molecule. Given how this is how he met his alleged end, I’m going to go with death via holy Hellfire.

but what if durge… oh wait, Ghost rider??? yeah… we need a new term for matches like this… instead of ROFLstomp…
zOMFGWTF flying backfist STFU Teabag ROFL crane kick to the face stomp, seems vaguely more accurate…

How will durge deal with a guy with a flaming head and motorcycle.
Thats the definition of badass right thar.

I have to go with Ghost Rider. He has regenerative abilities that rival Durge’s, and more important, has the durability to withstand anything but a weapon forged from Heaven, which Durge does not have. However, with GR’s hellfire, Durge won’t be able to hold out indefinitely. He’ll put up a fight, and then go down.

With all that armour on, Durge is going to be microwaved by the holy hellfire.

Well….. Durge can….. no… he cou…. no. I have nothing to add. Except – BLARG

Can Durge’s weaponary even harm a mystically powered host of the Spirit of Vengance? I do admire Durge, but really…..Ghost Rider for the Factpile Award.

Wiki says “Hellfire “burns the soul” without leaving physical injuries on the victim and its effects have been seen as similar to the “Penance Stare.”" But I am pretty sure it can do physical damage as well? Seeing as I am not the expert on such things, I would say wait for the arrival of Mata or Marche (they seem to know what they are talking about.).

I guess asking if an extraterrestrial contains a soul is out of the question.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Durge will take a beating before going down, but he WILL go down… Hellfire for the win!

Really? Didn’t we establish that Ghost Rider was up on power scales with Superman? I might be wrong, but if we did, Durge will die in a couple of a seconds.

‘shrug’
As long as Ghostie doesn’t start out with hellfire, I’m sure Durge could endure quite a beating… I could be wrong though… Really, all I know about Ghost Rider is everything that Mata has told me, and an old issue I once had where he and some wolf guy fought Mr. Hyde.

wel Durge has the whole immortal thing, but really, has that stopped Ghost Rider in the past??? Ghost Rider stomps him easily…

“Shortest end ive ever seen.”
Have you seen the Master Chief Vs Green Lantern thread?
““Hellfire “burns the soul” without leaving physical injuries”
Is Durge a “living being” with a soul? Do aliens even have souls? wait, ya, e.g. would be the Eldar in WH40K whose souls burn in hell etc etc….but do the ORKz have souls that deamons can attack?!
back on topic…yeah, i see a stalemate unless GHR fire-chain can go through Durge’s armour and decapitate him

Hmmm. Badass bountyhunter vs dude who owned Galactus in one shot. Ghost Rider takes this…..even if his movie sucked.

“Yeah durge goes to hell”
Maybe he’ll get lucky and Ghost Rider will settle for “cleansing” him of his sins. That’s really the best he can hope for in this engagement.
I would say that Durge’s species most definitely do have souls, as they are alive, sentient, and intelligent enough to converse with humans and understand concepts. Even if they didn’t have a “soul” as we’d interpret it, I’d be surprised if they didn’t have some sort of a “spirit” that makes up their consciousness. Beings in both the Star Wars and Marvel universes indisputably have souls, so Ghost Rider should have a target to scorch with hellfire.

The soul argument is valid in of itself, but its null and void here. GR needs no soul to scorch.

Ah, so it is not just restricted to a spiritual attack. Well, guess Durge’s chances of winning just plummeted down a lot more……

Ghost Rider cannot lose, so therefore should be awarded with a Factpile award. Unless there’re any arguements for Durge left?

“Ah, so it is not just restricted to a spiritual attack.”
Nope, Hellfire can do spiritual damage, physical damage, both types of damage, or even none. It depends on what the Spirit of Vengeance deems necessary to do.

I remember you saying such a thing on the “GH vs. Spawn” thread, but I couldn’t remember if it was something only Johny Blaze or Danny Ketch. Oh well, Ghost Rider for the Factpile award.

“I remember you saying such a thing on the “GH vs. Spawn” thread, but I couldn’t remember if it was something only Johny Blaze or Danny Ketch.”
Well, that particular trait of Hellfire has been shared by both characters as well as being able to imbue other items (mainly weapons) with it, just as both are able to fashion hellfire blades, and create massive hellfire blasts (or going nuclear as someone called it when Badilino’s Vengeance blew himself up).
So far there are only two hellfire tricks that I have seen as exclusive to one or the other over the years.
Blaze’s GR made the sky rain Hellfire on a village swarming with demons, while Ketch’s GR created multiple avatars of himself capable of dealing with three other Spirits of Vengeance as effectively as he would, even absorbing their power. Mind you that he only did this awesome feat after absorbing almost all other SoVs from the planet, so the jury is out whether or not he would be able to do so again at this point.
Notice how it cannot be neither confirmed nor denied that each couldn’t do what the other did. Hellfire is just one of those elements where we will never trully know if it has any limits.

I recall reading on Wookiepedia than Gen’dai(Durge’s race) can be killed if their body’s are completely pulverized/vaporized into tiny bits or thrown into a sun, and while they live for thousands of years, they are not immortal.
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Gen%27Dai
So, considering that GR can scorch his body and his soul(if he has one) away to nothing with Hellfire, then I’m going to agree. Factpile Award for GR.

Durge’s regeneration would avail him not. Ghost Rider would be attacking him on a totally different level. Easy victory for the Spirit of Vengeance.
