Excellent fight here. In order to claim victory in this match, it takes place on three levels. The first is on swordsmanship – who is better with the blades? The second element of this match is charm – who could persuade more people to follow them? And lastly, who would you follow?

Dread Pirate Roberts all the way, three way victory.
Swordsmanship. He doesn’t slip during duels, he doesn’t run, he doesn’t flounce off (If you wish to know what flouncing is, watch jack sparrow move… thats flouncing) or engage in witty repartee and word games if there’s duelling to be done, he just wins.
Charm wise… he’s handsome, masked, debonaire, with a fabulous english accent and a truly admirable devotion to his woman.
Who would I follow?
Dread Pirate Roberts. He’s more intelligent, more merciful, more skilled and frankly, far more likely to save me if I get captured, or avenge me if I die.

i’ll admit dread pirate roberts looks like a better leader on paper, but how can you not follow jack, as long as you get him to remember your name, so you dont become a faceless crew member that dies the first time theres a spot of trouble you should be okay.

“Charm wise… he’s handsome, masked, debonaire, with a fabulous english accent and a truly admirable devotion to his woman”
We all know the guy who play him also played as Robin Hood in Robin Hood Men in Tights and said, “Unlike other Robin Hoods I can speak with an English Accent.”
Sorry I’m a bit of a Mel Brooks fan I had to throw it out there.
My Sister loved the Princess Bride movie and I was forced to watch it when I was a kid so I’m going for Dread Pirate Roberts

Where was the degree of luck?
He was immune to the poison and knew the Sicilians arrogance would make him drink, so as to celebrate the victory and (in his mind) give the dread pirate a few moments of victorious feeling before being defeated.
Now captain jack, that guy thrives on luck

In swordsmanship, it would be a formidable match. Jack has crossed blades with swordsman as skilled as Will Turner and Davy Jones, definitely not easy opponents. However, DPR has defeated blademasters easily, and can hold his own even when fighting with his left hand!(And he is not left-handed.) His ability was so great, that even when severely weakened and almost unable to stand, he was able to intimidate an enemy into dropping his sword and surrendering instead of fighting him. He has also demonstrated much better concentration, discipline, and determination during battle. If it comes to close range combat, Jack loses.
In charm it would be closer. I think Jack has a bit more charisma and can think up some witty strategies, Roberts is definitely more savvy and intelligent. He could probably come up with some cunning plan to sabotage Jack’s following, probably by bringing to everyone’s attention how Jack constantly tries to toss any idiot who’d follow him at Davy Jones to save his own skin. I think Roberts would win this to, but it would be close.
And in terms of who I would follow, undoubtedly it would be Roberts. I don’t think much needs to be added to this:
“He’s more intelligent, more merciful, more skilled and frankly, far more likely to save me if I get captured, or avenge me if I die.”

In swordsmanship, i dunno who’d win. Roberts is far better on paper, simply by being more into his fight, showing bravery, focus and rock hard disipline when in the thick of it, not to mention he’s more of a “real” swordsman. He will do things the real way, don’t just slash like a madman 2 secs into the fight.
But Jack is damn random and absolutely impossible to keep track of, doing very random stuff all the time. Like, running away one sec, stabbing straight at your chest the next. It’s a true nightmare to find out what the hell the guy is doing, and that is Sparrows advantage. Not to mention that he often simply manage himself in combat, one way or the other, no matter who the opponent is.
I’ll say this part is Roberts 55%, Sparrow 45%. Plus totally random factor.
Charm is relative. In most areas people would pick Roberts, being sane, but Jack has some special trait that Roberts don’t quite nail. This is not always positive for the drunkard, but he’s shown skill in getting LOTS of followers while still being hated by every sentinent being on the planet. Tie.
Lst, i would follow Jack. As i don’t really wanna get involved with any of these for any reason, i would pick the guy who most likely wouldn’t even notice when i escaped at first chance. If i absolutely had to follow one of them furevah, roberts ftw.

Leaning towards Roberts…..I mean, he wrestled a giant. I know, who cares if it was a giant…..anyway, enough of the giants…i go with Robert, out of favoritism…

from what ive learned, robberts wins the 1st 2 categories, but i would rather be in jacks crew as they actually do stuff in their movie, unlike the crew of the roberts, who sit off screen on th eboat the whole time

“Capt Jack winns all three Drunk”
That would be a pretty foolish maneuver, showing up to battle drunk. It would probably turn this into a curbstomp, and not in Jack’s favor.

He couldn’t have been. Didn’t Vizzini say that he found him “unemployed in Greenland”?
