Looks like an interesting spin on the typical “Invaders are coming for us” spin. Directed by the same guy who did the Halo commercials, so at least the action sequences *should* be entertaining.

I truly belive that should the humand race achive interstellar travel we will be the evil ailen invaders. So watching this trailer shows me exactly what I would expect from a first contact.

Sems like a reverse scenario of Independence Day with a pinch of Star Trek….Anyway, I might watch it too because Peter Jackson is the director…..The bad news is that “The Hobbit” might get delayed….

BUt if this happens it wouldn’t surprise me that our governments would do something this dumb and hold an alien race here for a long period of time.

I hope they blow up the planet.

Can’t we have a movie that shows the government as the good guys. Just once?
The last ten years have been a hippy-fueled attack on “the man” and its getting old. Now the mean old government is bullying aliens too?
What next, are they gonna start resurrecting dinosaurs just to tax them too?
….Ah, having recently seen the news, i can safely say the next few years will be rife of movies overhyping these “biohackers” that are testing/altering DNA in the comfort of their own homes.
…Damn I’m bitter today

“What next, are they gonna start resurrecting dinosaurs just to tax them too?”
Hey man don’t those weasels any ideas. They are greedy and dumb enough to do it. The sad part is I’ll side with the dinosaurs.
As the old saying goes no taxation without representation.

I hope they force the Americans into being nicer and not so snarky.

I seriously want to see this movie. But still it does make the US look bad. I feel sorry for those aliens on the trailer, being beaten for no reason, thats just wrong. I think every sentient being should have equal rights with all other sentients. But that is impossible due to different veiws on goverment and religions between two sentient species.

@ the_man_with_The_answers – “I think every sentient being should have equal rights with all other sentients. But that is impossible due to different veiws on goverment and religions between two sentient species.”
You seem to have pretty strong views/opinions on the… subject… o.O
@Jwlnas – “Can’t we have a movie that shows the government as the good guys. Just once?”
But you have to agree that its mostly realistic
@Megaraptor18 – “The sad part is I’ll side with the dinosaurs.”
So are you with us or against us??
@PaPPa JUDAS – “I truly belive that should the humand race achive interstellar travel we will be the evil ailen invaders.”
I don’t see it happening any other way. Its happening now actually. Human beings are moving into and exploiting the environment/resources of weaker species who can’t defend themselves. When this becomes possible, it won’t be any different. Reminds me of an episode of the Outer Limits ( o.o ) where an expeditionary force attacked a group of aliens on a planet. It just so happens they were kids on a field trip and they were light years ahead of us. Thats probably what will do us in =P ( Or maybe invasion by apopulation of higly advanced, sentient sea weed )

@EnigmaJ

I don’t think the Americans are the bad guys here. A group known as the Multi-National United (MNU), a private company uninterested in the aliens’ welfare. MNU stands to receive tremendous profits if they can make the aliens’ advanced weaponry work. In some ways they are based on the UN at least uniforms and vehicles wise. I don’t think Americans will look bad in this movie but I do think that Western Europeans will look bad granted the whole Human Race will look just as bad. I don’t thank you will find one American soldier in this movie. Because in every US and UN peacekeeping operations American soldier will not have an UN logo on their uniforms or vehicles.

You know what District 9 reminds me of………..?
Avatar. In bothe movies Humans are made to look like the bad guys and the main character ends up becoming one of the aliens. See the resemblance?
