Here’s an interesting twist to the Group Combat idea. For this match, it’s these particular players defending their respective representation – Kharn for Tabletop Gaming, Darth Vader for Movies and Juggernaut for Comics. On the other side, it’s Kratos for PS3, Master Chief for Xbox, and Mario for Nintendo.
Which side wins bragging rights?

“There’s a reason he’s THE static character.”
Static, recognizable, seemingly unchanging,
yet at the same time one of the most flexible; able to pretty accomplish anything on any scale, no matter how silly it is. Mario may have a tough time jumping over a lava pit, yet a few moments later he jump ON TOP OF the very castle he was travelling through.
Like I said, Mario Canon might as well be an oxymoron. I give up on it, too tiring a task.
We still agree CMT wins?

What I’m saying Cap’N is that the Castle that Mario lifted is roughly as big as Bowser was in Mario 64. In SMW, before the castle is cleared, Mario gets small as he gets closer to the castle. After he clears and exits the castle, that shrinkage by proximity no longer happens (probably by flipping a switch inside the castle in the same room that the egg is held, in other words in an unseen room). This possibility is not without presedant in the Mario universe (see Bowser’s inside story), and it brings Mario’s “castle lifting strength” more in line with the strength that he has shown consistantly, such as when he throws around Bowser by his tail in 64.
What I’m saying is that Mario can lift a stone, semi hollow, complex that is about 4 times his size. That is all. Any and all scenes where the castle is huge is due to Mario being considerably smaller than his normal default size. In addition to that most things inside the castle (i.e. the enemies) would be porportionally smaller as well, thus the reason why Dry Bone Koopas, Twamps, Boos, and the Koopa Kids seen inside and outside of the castles are all the same size in relation to Mario.

The problem with this is you can’t have two things that make a nerd verse each other, it’s contradictory.

I forgot to reply to the good Cap’N final question of whether or not we agree that CMT win over VGs. For the most part yes. The single only possibly conceivably way I can see VGs winning with the team of Kratos, Mario, and John-117 is by having Mario using a wish item to wish that they win. Excluding that option, I don’t see how Team 2 could possibly win. They could stall, but they couldn’t win with any other method.
Since the openning introduction doesn’t state that ALL items and such are included then that means that Team 2 gets their standard equipment, and Mario only gets the super wishing items for like 5 minutes in his games so those aren’t exactly standard, so yeah Team 1 wins as far as I can tell.
@Sam: Don’t underestimate the Mario verse! Despite the fact that most of its characters are rather low in destructive power, there are items within it that bring it up to Sonic verse levels (which has numous Lightspeed characters, timetravelers, and an omnipresant/chronological being that eats spacetime), and if Mario is given all of his items he can stand toe to toe with Hyper Sonic and with a handful of other characters can stand toe to toe with the entire Sonic verse. And in case you didn’t know Sonic verse is pretty much the 40K of Video Games, where everything is taken to an absurd level. With non-standard items, but still canoncily used by him, Mario can stand on that level. The Rule of Fun is hard to defeat without resorting to either more Rule of Fun or the Rule of Cool.
Standard equipment though, pah, Mario is a dead man.

@originalA on 103
I suppose I could go along with that, if you are going to take the proportions as law, which I wouldn’t BUT I can go along with, than I guess its not that impressive.
Given the rules of this match, CMT wins!

So it is the characters listed, not their universes.

If so, then someone *admin* overpowered the one side *team a*.
i’m all for the slaughter of Master Chief and such…but i do protest the unfair includement of Kratos…and mario.
Kharn and Juggernaut are protected by freakin’ gods, they are unstoppable… sure, Kratos is a “god”, but even greek gods can die…

I watched a show once and there was a trivia question about Mario’s height. According to Nintendo, Mario is 5′ 2″,5′ 4″, or 5′ 6″. One of those, I forget. I am 100% sure though that he is under 5′ 8″.

I don’t know too much about Kratos, but the rest of the team is absolutely pathetic compared to the bad boys in the other side of the field. I would guess anyone of them could solo it, at least Kharn and jugger could.
and wtf bout mario’s height? Is that even relevant at all?

I find the idea of Kharn running up to Mario screaming praises to Kharn only to be punched to the moon in one hit by a short, Italian plumber a fraction of his size to be amazingly amusing. A pity that Mario doesn’t canonically have that kind of strength . . .

Well, he did punch Bowser into the sun…
…Of course, Bowser survived, crawled out onto a somehow solid platform and stood there until the star supernova’d. And was at the center of the newly formed black hole. Until, at east, the Lumas tossed a Big Bang at him. Then stood up with a headache. Damn I love Super Mario Galaxy.

People say Juggernaut can beat Mario? If Mario can toss a giant turtle (thats like 5x bigger and stronger than Juggernaut), like 100ft away than why can’t he defeat juggernaut? he has even defeated Ganondorf(O.O), heck even Meta-Knight! Meta-Knight’s sword is VERY powerful BTW! If Mario could take a beating from King Dedede’s Hammer (which could break many things easily), and still come out victorious, then I’m sure Mario can beat up Juggernaut.(more like Babbynaut Mi’right?)

All non-canon.

Darth Vader and Kharn The Betrayer would really dish out too much hurt. Kratos and Chief are both going down hard.

I think Videogames would win, Mario lifted 3 tons in Bowser’s inside story plus he can stop time(stopwatch) and slow time(Timer) not to mention Mario can carry 100 of them, also Mario became the Fire god’s successor in Super Star Saga as well as getting struck by a meteorite and took no damage(Bowser’s inside story) so Kratos and him should be enough but MC’s aim will be of great help too.
January 24, 2010
#32
For a minute, lets forget the rules that state standard equipment(which means mario won’t have the stopwatch or timer) honestly, what can mario do to damage Kharn or the juggernaut if time were stopped?
January 24, 2010
#33
Well if time was stopped Mario could deal good damage since he has super strength as well so it would be like a second MC or Kratos on the field meaning if Mario can’t do anything against those guys neither will MC and Kratos(providing they don’t use items as well).
