Actually, I have listened to a lot of Bucket Head’s songs, but slash is a lot more well known and a lot better than him. Everybody thinks that Bucket Heads a god of guitar because he can play fast. Fast is not everything, in order to be good you need to bo talented. bucket head is not that talented.

Not talented? At least Buckethead knows all the charts and stuff while Slash just says he plays what sounds good. As for fast playing, listen to soothsayer and see the “no speed at all” first 3 minutes

Okay Space Marine, you got me. But to most of you all your just saying he’s known by more people. I don’t think Slash is bad at all, I just don’t think Buckethead gets the respect he deserves as a Guitarist. This is one with no winner I guess, well not imo at least.

ok, I admit that Bucket Head is an awesome guitar player. He has skill. But I still don’t think he is better than Slash. We all have our opinions, this guitar battle decided who is better is all a matter of opinion. There is no best guitar player in the world. Only opinions.

Buckethead is better. Most of the people who think Slash is better use arguments like “BH had no emotion” or “He wears a stupid chicken bucket!” yet I could almost guarantee that most of these people haven’t actually listened to much of (if any) Buckethead’s massive amount of solo work. Check out the following songs by Buckethead:
-Soothsayer
-Siege Engine
-Nottingham Lace
-Machete
-Padmasana
-King James
I could go on. Seriously, I honestly think that listening to Soothsayer alone is enough to change anyones mind in favor of BH but the others just reinforce it further. Also:

L.A. Weekly: I interviewed Dave Mustaine awhile back at Guitar Center Sessions and he sang your praises but then said, “Buckethead is probably twice as good a guitar player as me and Slash combined, and can stand having fried chicken rubbed up against his face all night for a couple of hours.”

Slash: Well, that is actually true. Anybody who knows me knows that technically I couldn’t play my way out of a paper bag. [Laughs] Or a Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket, for that matter. I manage to do what it is I do based on a certain kind of feel and sound. I’m getting better at it but I’ve never been what you’d call a technical guitar player so he’s totally right [laughs].

Buckethead is a lot better. He’s more talented, more skilled, and he plays with more emotion. Colma is an album written about his mom dying of cancer. What has slash done like that? And buckethead isn’t well known in the music business? Right. That explains the 29 albums he’s released, and all the famous musicians he’s performed and recorded with.

Buckethead is very technical, and very fast, but he also plays with more emotion than Slash has felt in his whole life. Slash plays what sounds good. So does Buckethead, but buckethead plays it technically. Which is challenging. I’d like to see Slash play Big Sur Moon, Ghost, or any song of Bucketheads with as much emotion and accuracy as Buckethead has.

The only reason people think Slash is better is because he is mainstream. What about Steve Vai, Joe Satriani?
Both better than Slash, about equal to Buckethead.

Both guitarists dont use music theory in their music. I don’t care what you say, they don’t. Listen to a Buckethead song and tell me where he uses theory.
