I know there are a lot of debates and lists over which Christmas movie is the best. You’ll hear arguments for “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “White Christmas” which might be the opinion of the older generations (Baby Boomers). Then you get to the recent classics and some people argue for “Elf”, “A Christmas Story” and “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”. While I admit that I love both Christmas Story and Vacation, for my money, the movie that conveys the spirit of Christmas the most is of course, Die Hard.
No other holiday movie tells the story of a family man trying to mend the relationship with his wife and kids while also saving the lives of complete strangers. John McClane brings holiday spirit by sharing with others his strong dislike of oppressive forces in the world and takes matters into his own hands. Time after time, he stops evil forces from ruining an otherwise un-eventful Christmas party. And of course at the end of it all, he gets to take home his wife in a limo on their way to see the kids. How can that not be the greatest story of spreading holiday cheer?
Die Hard should be required viewing every year at this time. Not only for the punchy one-liners, but the life lessons learned as well!

a christmas story wins by far. The leg lamp, the bb-gun, and the pink bunny suit make this the best classic of them all.

Die Hard is, of course, at the top. But I say Home Alone also belongs up there, as a very good runner-up. It contains some lessons and the bad guys show you that it is possible to go through a lot of pain to see the good ending. That movie is just beautiful, especially when some people named Marv and Harry try to show us how to cheer up the poor kid thats home alone.
Still, runner-up to the godly Christmas lesson Die Hard.

No. Shame, really. The 1st and 3rd movies were excellent, but the 2nd was just slightly average and the 4th wasn’t die hard. It was a pretty good movie, but computers just ain’t real Die Hard, and that kinda ruined it all.

Wow. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen Die Hard. Must be awesome. My personal favorite Christmas movie would probably be National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. Certainly could at least go down as the or one of the funniest.

Sherlock Holmes just came out on Christmas, and I thought that movie was slamtastic, so that one gets my vote. Plus Robert Downey Jr. is Iron Man so that just adds to it.
