Ok, I know I am a major game geek considering I have an Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, GameCube, NES and of course, about 100 games for the PC.

But I think this guy takes the cake. According to this article this guy has 36 World of Warcraft accounts and spends $5711 a year in subscriptions.

Yeah, I like playing video games, but c’mon, it’s not like any of this matters in the real world!

Just my $.02…

Determining Matches

So, we’ve had the question asked of us many times, how we determine which matches get made. So, here’s the post on our twisted logic of getting to that decision.

First, we have some ideas about what we think you want to see. Some of that is based on the comments left in other posts, as well as the battle requests.

Next we add them to out ever-growing list of battle requests already made. We decide the next one to get picked based on the discussions taking place on this site, and other sites as well. If a movie is coming out with a requested character, we may hold off until the movie is going to open and post a match then.

We also review the comments on this site closely - and try to publish matches that include topics that people are responding to.

Another factor is freshness. We like to purposely add characters that may not be as mainstream - there are fans all around the world who are just as passionate about their favorite characters, and you just never know how that will turn out. Some have failed miserably, while others were unexpected surprises.

And the last factor is sometimes we have our own agenda to push, so a certain match gets published. It’s not pressure from advertisers, instead we have personal favorites that we want to see more of.

So there you have it. If you want to see a certain match, request it, talk about it and even email us - we’ll get it done.

UPDATE: (10.1.2008)
We’ve been listening and are going to be starting a series where each character will have their most ‘Badass Moment’ or ‘Heroic’ or just flat out ‘Coolest’ moment that makes you like the character. We’re looking for suggestions as to naming this new section, so if you have any ideas, we’d love to hear them!

So, we realize we need to install some better ways to get the site organized, and it’s always an issue when you have a ton of information stored in a database.

We’ve heard your suggestions about a better site design, polls, ranking/rating systems, to even voting on which of the matches you want to see published.

We are listening and making changes. As hinted before, we are testing a new design and a part of that is how all the current site data ports over to the new look. In the past we just push it live and work through the kinks live. That’s still probably going to happen, so if you visit the site and it’s acting a bit wonky, that’s why.

Since there are soo many MC battle requests, we’re thinking about having a week full of nothing but Master Chief battles - about 3-5 a day - is that something you’d be interested in seeing?

That way we could even up the ‘Battle Request’ list and have a more even rotation of all the series.
