September 8, 2008 by admin
Today at around 2:43 PM EST, FactPile reached it’s first milestone - 5,000 comments! (approved, doesn’t include the 17k spam we have in the junk file).
The 5,000th comment was from Rob (Expertimp).
Thanks to you, the reader of this blog, for making it something cool and keeps us going to continue working on this site.
We wish we had something cool to give to Rob (Expertimp), but we don’t have anything like that. In anticipation of reaching our 10,000th comment, what would you guys like to see? A T-shirt? (We’re terrible at ideas, so if you have any, feel free to comment here).
Some other type of Schwag? Unless the site starts getting some major sponsors, don’t expect any prizes involving Wii’s, X-boxes or MacAirs - However, we’ll try to think of something and let you know.
Again, thanks to all of you who have taken time to contribute to the site - it wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for your comments.
Thanks again!

Thanks! I love this site!
Damn you rob! >:(
As for giving a prize for a specific comment number, in my experience, it’s a bad idea, as you end up getting people spamming just to be number 1 (or number 10′000)
Mecha bob - Thanks for the input - that’s something I think as long as we don’t advertise too much, the regulars here will be genuine in their posts. Plus, if I think the post is spammy, I’ll bury it.

have you ever though of a web redisgn?
something too pull readers in?
something that catches their eye when they click.
and how bout polls?
@marche - Yes, we do have a new design already in testing, but we need to re-size all the images.
Polls - I know we’ve had a few suggestions, what else would you want to see?

You should treat us all to a steak dinner, admin.
@The One Sin - LOL. how about a $.99 cent doublecheeseburger from McDonalds?
What I’d like to see on the site (or in the new design) is some kind of running main-points thing, (for example, most battle have a few points made in the initial post, but if that could be edited to include major points that were made in the discussion, rather than hundreds (maybe not that many) of different people repeating the same point over, because they can’t be bothered to read all the existing posts.
@Mecha bob - Wow. That’d be a great feature - we have the option of a five-star rating system - maybe something like that for the best comments to surface?
