General Grievous vs Cloud Strife

So, there have been numerous requests for a Cloud Strife match-up, so we’ll match him up against a very tough fighter first (before heading against MC).
Having played the Final Fantasy games and having read the numerous cannon approved Star Wars novels, I think this match up would be over fairly quickly. I just can’t see how Grievous can pull out a victory with all that Cloud can send against him.

The first think I’d like to say, is there are NO cannon starwars novels, it’s called the expanded universe for a reason, because it’s not cannon.
But that aside, if it the pre-wheezing Grievous, then he should have no problem, but if it’s the wheezy Grievous, then, it could go either way.
Naa. Cloud has this one down. Has anyone here played FF7 or watched the film? Grievous doesn’t have a chance.

Cloud has materia, so yes he has magic.
Cloud didn’t have any Materia in Advent Children since Kadaj stole it.
That’s why he used Limit Breaks instead.

I don’t think Cloud gets to have any Materia in this fight.
It’s just swords vs swords.
With Grievous’s speed, it’ll be over before Cloud’s summoning is complete.
Compare the two videos, Grievous is much faster.
Hmmmmmm it would be difficult for Cloud since the lightsabers would totaly destroy his sword if he tries to block them.
And basing that he has no materia cause cloud used no materia in the movie is wrong since he always had materia on him in the game (unless you played him without giving him materia ^^) so one can assume he carries it now also.
Well, if were going by the games then, cloud has to select what he’s going to do, select the type of attack, select who he’s going to attack etc,
and during all this, Grievous will just run over their and cut cloud’s head off.
And if Grievous attacks first, Cloud will have to wait until his turn to attack (by which it will be too late).
I’m not talking bout the fighting mechanics of the game, but that materia is a part of Clouds equipment.

Um.. before you comment general grievous is weak, go see the clone wars, He forced 7 jedi, 15 arc troopers (elite clone troopers) and a republic gunship (a clone transport with rockets) to retreat. cloud would never catch grievous offguard grievous is too freakin fast he would last at most 1 minute in combat. grievous would tear him to shreds.

Grievous would win no doubt, first off go see this vid for proof. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vA9-g0bkqg8 he would break cloud’s sword in HALF then just rip him in half with his feet. and if cloud tried any tricks grievous speed is 10x faster then cloud wishes his speed would be so he has a 20% chance to win with materia but by the time he finishes sumooing grievous would have owned him…

I would also venture to say that Cloud’s speed and uncanny ability to defy gravity gives him an edge.
That, and if he’s using his sword from Advent Children, there’s like, 6 parts to it, so he’s got 6 chances to do something sword based.
Clouds Steps to Win:
1. Put sword on back, thrust hands outwards from his chest.
2. Summon Knights of the Round.
3. ROFL.
4. Swing sword 3 times above head, hold against his back to victory fanfare

Unless he uses his sword skills to take the lightsabers out of his hands, I don’t think a lightsaber hilt would cut Cloud’s sword, and we’ve all seen that lightsaber hilts are perfectly destroyable, and just because Cloud’s sword(s) are quite big, doesn’t mean he’s slow with them, far from it, so he’d deffinatly stand a good chance.
The problem with Cloud using magic to win, is that he’d be dead before he finishes casting/summoning.
It’s not that Cloud is slow, it’s that Grievous is MUCH faster.
If grievous can attack a Jedi before he can use a Force attack, which are practically instantaneous, then could has no chance of casting a spell that takes several seconds to perform.
And if Cloud is concentrating on magic, then his guard is down, making it easier for Grievous.
Grievous his sords are stronger than a magic end than metal the licht saber ar plasma!!!!!

Cloud would win. Grievous’s lightsabers would NOT be able to break Cloud’s sword because as shown on Soul Caliber 4, Lightsabers act as regular swords against any magic user.
We can’t make sc4 mix into this because a rolling pin is not equal to sowerd which is not equal to a lightsaber. But it is true that cloud’s sowerd is unbreakable. It can block bullets, a strange thing ramming it, and rockets and look brand new. And cloud’s speed and strength is godlike. He, a girl with a staff, and a talking tiger/dog/heshe took down an entire miltary base of highley trained profasionals. He also has the abilty to summon metors from out of no where.

grievous would win this one as well could has a very sloppy fighting style while grievous is deadly accurate clud would not stand a chance even if he could block a lightsaber. secondly magic magic could not effet him cyborg peoplel.

I haven’t seen a lot of Cloud, but he definetly has to stay away from sword to sword combat if he wants to win. Grievous’ lightsabers would shred Cloud’s sword, and even Grievous just had swords, his fighting skills are far better then Cloud’s. That said, I assume Cloud has some kind of super magic skills or else people wouldn’t be so obsessed with him. Even then, he’s going to have a hard time hitting him because Grievous has already proved to be very capable at dodging projectiles. But as long as Cloud stays the hell away from Grievous he should be fine. As long as Grievous doesn’t sneak up on him, like he usually does…

jet alone i agree with you that grievous wold win even if cloud strife could disarm grievous he could just pull out another lightsaber but if you’ve seen star wars revenge of the sith you would know that while he is mostly droid grievous still has somehuman cause i doubt that he could get rid of every vital organ which is how general kenobi shoots him in the heart
arm chair warrior darth vader would win cause while he has 4 arms and could beat cloud. vader has something cloud doesn’t the force which he could use the force to rip the lightsabers out of grievous’s hands then pick him up and stab him with his lightsaber
neji hey man i just want to let you know thisgrievous infamous jedi killer i am preety sure that crath vader would not be much different from anyone else with the force because if the force was truly a problem with the general grievous he would have been died long before he bacame a threat.
