This is my 3rd post of the week. Wow
This is such a stomp that it isn’t funny.
Truthfully I wanted to post this so I could prove Dresden is better than Potter. So far I’m right

Seriously, Percy Jackson or his 1st cousin Jason have better odds against Dresden than Potter does, and while Potter would get rid of Rahl via the skin of his teeth, Dresden let alone Rand al’Thor would be too much for him to deal with.
For crying outloud, mono-a-mono neither Percy nor Jason can fight Dresden on their own, you’d need all the surviving half-human children of the 3 sons of Kronos vs. Post-Changes Dresden for it to be a fair match-up.
Dang it, not so much out of personal ill-will against Dresden but because this is idiotic when yesterday was Dresden’s B-Day and the Deathday of Harry Potter’s Parents…does that mean I have to fight to kill Dresden in future match-ups? =_=
Why not even try Hector from Castlevania vs Edward Elric with no Philosopher’s stone and go see what happens, for that matter?

You do realize that too many of Dresden’s matches proved this point across far more times than anyone gives a dang to count, right?
I could name a few things from Dresden’s world Potter can fight and kill successfully if he had to, but Dresden himself‘s not one of them.
Do me a favor and don’t even think about suggesting Haseo vs Dresden next, even Haseo’s debut match is leagues better than this one, and that one was just an underappreciated gem!
Could you please have it become a matter of whether or not Side B could last 30 seconds to a minute or two?
At least then the bad taste in my mouth might have a chance to get washed out.
P.S: Small comfort for me, but at least the two images in there are Actually Mutually Badass…shame they’re going to waste in here.

Considering that Halloween/All Hallows’ Eve*(take your pick as to what to coin that day) is confirmed to be the Deathday for Potter’s parents just as much as its Dresden’s birthday…I’d see so much that’s wrong with the picture that I’d rather see the latter idea come to pass.

Dresden has read the Potter books so he automatically knows Potter’s bread and butter spell Expeliarmus, even if disarmed he can blast fire 20 yards in front of him. That’s assuming the spell hits though, Dresden’s shield blocks many wavelengths of energy and magic to the point Dresden can actually pinpoint the wavelength.
And if we want to talk about commanding armies Dresden has an army of boxcutter wielding Tinkerbell sized pixies with the attitude of Solid Snake, and all Dresden has to pay them is Pizza, now consider how far a few pizza’s go for guys this size, not only that as Winter Knight he can command the armies of Winter which……..well lots of magical creatures that would shit on their equivalents in Potterverse, in a stomp of their own. Even the damn unicorns.
Plus Dresden can see through veils so the cloak is nonfactor.
And, if Potter somehow cast Avada before he was ready, Dresden’s mom died as he was born using her death curse and meaning to protect him from harm, so by Potterverse rules AK can’t touch him.

I could name a few matches that would be better-suited for Potter himself, not gonna do it here in case anyone has dark impulses to send Side B spite matches coming his way, but I know them.
Even The Unforgivable Curses vs the Data Drain variations would be a better match-up than this.
Please…do me a favor and just write out the two end results you mentioned, one where Dresden spares Potter’s life or at least leaves him be, and the other where the facepalming kicks in, okay?

Cross let me compare their feats by age
First use of magic, Potter jumps on a roof to avoid bullies. Dresden performs the long jump at his Orphanage kid olympics deal and jumps way further than a human of any age should.
next at sixteen Potter has few feats of power under his command with his best probably being the Patronus. At sixteen Dresden ran away from his psychotic mind rape happy evil mentor who then sicked an Old One on Dresden. Dresden managed to do what no other wizard is capable of, and destroyed the thing. With magic.

Here’s the divide. Potter will stay the same power level his whole life like ChiChi, whereas Dresden will get more powerful as he gets older, and wizards can live hundreds possibly thousands of years in Dresdenverse because their bodies don’t have as much trouble replicating cells and Dresden can recover from an injury that would normally kill or disable a person completely, even having his hand burned down to the bone with napalm after a while he was able to use his hand and even started learning to play the guitar so he could help get his hand back to moving.

Now lets compare how they get through each book.
1. Potter’s friends risk themselves so he can get further and he barely survives his encounter with Voldequirell. Dresden fights the demon finds his way to the evil warlock fights him and his gun toting buddies by making their own scorpions eat them then letting the demon eat the warlock. Also he burned the house down.

2. Potter’s schoolmates are dropping left and right the answer is staring him in the face and he doesn’t get it. When he does he’s nearly killed trying to beat the giant snake and stopping the evil spirit from possessing Ginny or anyone. Dresden fights FBI agents that are werewolves, a demonic superwolf that makes Lupin and Greyback of the Potterverse look like Beagle puppies and has to survive. He nearly burns up his ability to use magic and ends up putting on one of the shapeshift belts, Dresden manages to break free of the spirit of bloodlust controlling him and throw the addictive device away and proceeds to kill the superwolf.

I get it…Potter was raised by Morons who don’t even have the decency to apply military tactics, while at least with Dresden’s 1st father figure, he made sure Dresden got the chance to become some kind of weapon to begin with!
It comes down to the upbringing at the end of the day, and at the end in this department, I already admitted that Justin DuMourne has more BrainCells than all the Dursleys put together. (facepalm)
If I had $500 dollars for every time I have to facepalm, I’d be very rich enough to pay most of the expenses for this site and others, by now.
Potter deserves matches that are a hell of a lot better than this one, I will not hold it against the MessMaker if he sides with Dresden* in this, but I pray he won’t hold it against me for saying this.
(I’d be honored to fight by his side or face him in kombat, if necessary!)
All the more reason why I said why Dresden himself just isn’t one of them, especially when at least Dresden could compete with Rand al’Thor in terms of the Badassitude department if need be.*
If Potter’s not surrounded by friends and allies, he’s surrounded by morons…in general that’s too black and white for my tastes for the 1st 6 novels and why I’m actually still fond of the 7th novel most of all.
If anything was definitely repetitive about the Potter-world novels, its what I noted above that would be the case, nothing else except for the rate in learning new spells in any case.
(As far as I recalled and as much as it pains me equally to say that, Dresden would lose against Rand in every other department mono-a-mono! T_T’ )

If its an intended spite match, I don’t think its intended he’ll stop unless Original!-Tenchi Masaki vs Perturabo of Warhammer 40K happens, or even Original!-Tenchi Masaki vs All 40K Chaos Primarchs, for that matter.
He just crossed the line if its a spite match, the only way it’ll be any better is if its a matter of Side B lasting for 10-15 seconds, at this point.
No guarentee it’ll make the match-up any better, but WTH?

This is comparing two people who, while similar in some senses, are almost incomparable. Harry is powerful and has the Prophecy going for him, but faces an enemy that is in all truth extremely limited. Potter has a smaller scope of fighting tactics, two of the few he has are “Depending on other people to cover his ass while he exploits a critical weakness in the enemy” or “Kamikaze.” I never got much of an impression that Potter has much a grasp of strategy. Arguably his greatest feat of magic is the Patronus he did in Prisoner of Azkaban, which I don’t see helping him much.

Dresden on the other hand, thrives on violent, destructive magic. The sheer brutality of his attacks would shake Potter, and would almost certainly overwhelm him.

We did, the last match with Dresden is on page four I think, and that was a team match, still it should have been something other than this. But whatever, can’t control what get’s posted. And you summed up the comparision pretty well, Potter’s using a flintlock pistol of magic and Dresden’s rolling with a modern .50 call rifle.

Wait, the cloak could hide the user from death, could dresden see through it? The characters in the Potterverse noted that it was no normal invisibility cloak (it wasn’t just some enchanted cloak, it was THE invisibility cloak). Since it was a gift from death, and I don’t remember others being able to see through it with magic, it might protect Harry.

It wasn’t enchanted though, i thought just by the fact that it was given by death to hide from death meant it was completely invisible. Other senses such as sound or smell could detect it (like with the cat in the movie) but it is invisible otherwise. Just my opinion.

What exactly about Dresden puts him so far above Potter? I’ve seen some quotes about some fire and stuff, but considering the walls of text associated with Dresden, I may have missed something. Anyway, Potter still has a shield spell, which can buy him time to get away. Once that’s done, it’s a simple matter of Invisibility + Avada Kedavra.

Harry can sense supernatural stuff, has a enhanced hearing, and wizards of his universe have third eyes that reveal whats hidden. Ghost, invisible stuff, what people are really like, etc.
Plus the offensive fire and force tend to come with AoE result like being a wave of or explosions.
I’m not gonna touch the Respect Thread on the topia, that is a bit disorganized, but basically the fact that Dresden has in-canon read about Harry Potter and knows everything about him, whereas the opposite is not true puts him a few pegs above poor Potter.

Alright, look at it like this. A lot of Potterverse magic is defensive (making shields and stunning opponents or disarming them), while Dresden uses a lot of Offensive magic. He can increase gravity to a significant degree, torch large buildings, use stored kinetic energy to smash and crush. A big part of that impression is the lack of visible effects a lot of Potterverse “attacks” produce; apart from the ones that are really flashy or make fireballs or explode stuff, they are usually just flashes of light, and somebody reacts. We don’t know the force that Expelliarmus exerts, what its limits are. Its the usual unquantifiabilities of magic.

Hearing about the Apparition, though, raises a good point. Can’t Potter just Apparate away, invisibility cloak it up, and AK Dresden if he approaches?
As for apparition, it would then make it a game of Reaction and Response Time for Dresden. How fast does Apparating and Disapparating work, and can Dresden react and respond faster than that?
And I don’t know that. Potter’s teleport spam could kill Dresden if Dresden simply can’t cast fast enough.

Dresden has cast a 75 kilojoule shield in the space of less than three seconds, so I think he is a fast spellslinger himself.
Going by Sephy vs Dresden, Dresden has a pre-cog against magic that allows him to sense where its coming from before it hits him. Considering the distance, Dresden would have a chance of defending against it.

Unlike Dresden’s shield, I don’t know as much on Potter’s. Going by the way magic works in both verses and my debates against Dresden, I’m guessing Dresden’s is more durable.

If this is the Amazon rain forest, I’m afraid that Potter won’t last very long. Dresden can simply run (or teleport or whatever he can do) in the other direction and let Potter starve to death. I’m fairly certain that Dresden is stronger (physically) than Potter, so he will probably survive longer.

Smokey would hate him, but Dresden literally could just light the whole forest on fire and walk away, similarly but more surely killing his foe than Pete suggested.

Post-Changes Dresden’s also confirmed to have Canon!-Unlimited Stamina, only thing confirmed Potter has going for him against Dresden is a Canon!-Unlimited Magic Score, even that isn’t enough if none of his spells are gonna bypass Dresden’s defenses.
Why the match suggestor didn’t have the balls to make it a 10-15 second endurance match for Side B to stay alive, is beyond me at this point.

If I gotta bust out a dot hack-verse comparing and contrasting, quite frankly one side is the proverbal equivalent of an un-maxed out Adept Rogue with only a Canon!-Unlimited Magic Score going for him, while the other is a maxed out Adept Rogue with the class capabilities of Harvest Clerics, Macarbe Dancers and Shadow Warlocks going for him, but doesn’t have a UMS yet makes up for it with more firepower.

Using his sight yes. It got a long range to it and wizards often uses it to detect invisibles. That why it not really that useful against wizards. Also Dresden can go invisible as well and make holograms/sound effects.

IIRC the only problem with third eye is that what you see with it stays with you forever. Be it heroic guardians clad in white that is Murphy through it or lovecraftian horrors like the skinwalker. It’s kind of hard to bring it down sometimes though.

He can see invisibles and detect magic. Plus IIRC a thrown knife was fast enough to catch someone apparating. Bullets tend to be faster.

He doesn’t have a cast time for spells like the regular offensive spells like fuego or foraze. They are like simple point/shoot magic, like a gun.
Gravity spells, conjuring spells, etc though have cast times.

The match suggestor should have made it a matter of whether or not Potter could last for 10-15 seconds against Post-Changes Dresden, at least then this mess would have been salvaged already. T_T
If Potter can do that, Dresden will have to leave him be, unless Dresden went to incinerate the forest already to kill Potter that way. T_T
At least I can agree with that kind of stipulation in place.

Dresden’s specialty elements are fire and wind, their in a forest.
Plus post 77 Dresden light a fire without looking he can just light Potter on fire and then light the forest on fire.

I have my ways of acquiring Eldritch devices that don’t exist in all technicality. And being insane is a good deterrent to going insane.

If Potter is using magic like apparating, or got any potent magical stuff on him, as long as Dres keeps his wizard senses up he should be able to track him. Tracking is one of his specialties, being a detective wizard and all.
Plus he’s had experience fighting in forested area.

now that I think, Dresden was able to tap one of the Great Lakes to create a twenty story blast of fire…..I wonder if he could do something like that here.

Yeah, like Soulerous said, Khaos. Discussing matches at FPT would be a better idea for fairer matches, so we don’t have poorly thought out stomps like this, Kratos vs Skarbrand and Daleks vs ‘nids
