    As far as telepaths go, the Ghost (assuming this is generic Ghost) can’t manipulate Chief’s mind when Chief is dead set in his goal.
    .
    Admin, can you clarify what is Chief’s standard load-out?
    Because I do not think one or two rifles and a knife is considered “standard” for an elite soldier such as him.
    Sure Chief’s arsenal must include demo charges, grenades, extra ammo, and pistols.

  3. GuardianAngel1911 October 19, 2012 at 8:15 am -      #3

    I’m just going to ask what Ghost can do

  4. man October 19, 2012 at 8:27 am -      #4

    “Almost unconsciously, Pandora focused on the faint whisper of confusion in Sage’s head. It was the opening that she had been trained to look for when preparing to manipulate a target.”

  5. SgCombine October 19, 2012 at 8:40 am -      #5

    How good is the Ghosts body armor? All I remember is that its weaker ingame compared to the Terran Marine.

  6. Ford Prefect October 19, 2012 at 8:44 am -      #6

    Ghost weapons are much better, I believe, as his standard weapon can pierce armor. Plus psionic attacks and psi-blades in some later models. If Protoss can’t see through their cloaks without detectors, the Chief is screwed.

  7. Ford Prefect October 19, 2012 at 8:46 am -      #7

    Ghosts are often able to survive or even dodge Terran marine gauss rounds, why does the chief have to be made into a Punching bag every match?

  8. Ford Prefect October 19, 2012 at 8:50 am -      #8

    Why not have it be a über stomp while we’re at it. Chief vs Gestalt 0 ( who needs more matches) sorry for the multi posts.

  9. GuardianAngel1911 October 19, 2012 at 8:58 am -      #9

    On why does Chief get made a punching bag, it’s because people overestimate him. This sight was started with all Halo fans or a lot, which led to lots of stupididty regarding MC a lot of MC matches were suggested and never posted so every so often another stomp emerges (Martian Manhunter vs MC for instance)
    Later it was Xena wankers that were the worst, and later still Dante wankers. More recently there were waves of Kratos wankers but it’s mainly two people that do it.

  10. Ford Prefect October 19, 2012 at 9:00 am -      #10

    @GA1911
    If matches like this get posted, why can’t my corvo vs Sam fisher vs ezio vs solid snake match get posted!?!?

    But srsly, this is another stomp match.

  11. Type-Fallstar October 19, 2012 at 9:08 am -      #11

    If its a stomp
    is there anyway to even it out?
    better than wasting a match since we only get one a day

  12. GuardianAngel1911 October 19, 2012 at 9:10 am -      #12

    @Ford
    It’s random, though you would think more evenly matched fights would get posted if you suggest through Admin it’s his or the mod’s discretion. You just have to wait and hope for it to be posted.

  13. GuardianAngel1911 October 19, 2012 at 9:12 am -      #13

    @Fallstar
    no idea, I don’t know what Ghost can do and I know nothing about Chief either. Which is why my first post here was what can Ghost do.
    ——
    what happened to two matches a day anyway?

  14. Ford Prefect October 19, 2012 at 9:14 am -      #14

    Have chief work with noble 6 and they both get sniper rifles and spLAz0Rz and then it will be slightly less of a stomp.

  15. Ford Prefect October 19, 2012 at 9:18 am -      #15

    @Guardian
    I was thinking of a battle between stealth and agility specialists, it took place in Rome circa AC brotherhood, but yeah, I could see where it seems a little random, but I still think it’s a good idea.

  16. Khazit October 19, 2012 at 9:20 am -      #16

    It’s assumed that terran marine is equal to a Halo spartan, with better gun but lesser training and no shield. While the ghost is like… terran spartan with psychic ability, MC stand no chance here

  17. GuardianAngel1911 October 19, 2012 at 9:27 am -      #17

    @Ford
    it sounds cool, if you’ve suggested it I look forward to it being posted.
    ————–
    so basically the only way to level the field is give MC several people near his level and secial gear?

  18. Type-Fallstar October 19, 2012 at 9:29 am -      #18

    what if chief had shepard as a partner?

  19. GuardianAngel1911 October 19, 2012 at 9:32 am -      #19

    the fact that we have to add people kind of ruins the original intent of the match though doesn’t it?

  20. GuardianAngel1911 October 19, 2012 at 9:33 am -      #20

    Since the initial match is just MC vs Ghost I mean.

  21. man October 19, 2012 at 9:44 am -      #21

    “so basically the only way to level the field is give MC several people near his level and secial gear?”
    .
    As always, my usual scapegoat is Samurai Jack.

  22. Commander Cross October 19, 2012 at 11:08 am -      #22

    @Admiral at #9

    I’m already burned it to my brain that Dresden has limits, likewise with Haseo(dot hack universe) why didn’t the MC wankers from back then do that? (facepalm) :x
    Its either Xena Wankers or Warhammer 40K Wankers* who are the worst, only the former got replaced by the Dante Wankers and now there’s the Kratos Wankers?
    WTH gives on this, Admiral?

    I’m not even gonna ask the usual question I’d ask when it comes to the Master Chief because in here its just too dang obvious what it would be.

    1.) (Not the True Fans out there, the outright cases!)

  23. PrimusxPilus October 19, 2012 at 11:20 am -      #23

    Ghost is to chief what psyker is to ghost.

    Stomp match is stomp

  24. Ford Prefect October 19, 2012 at 12:24 pm -      #24

    Yeah, these MC matches are pointless, too much of a stomp even with Noble Team. I want another match today, can we have 2 matches a day plus 1 showcase per week? Please Admin…?

  25. Amm0vamp1r3 October 19, 2012 at 12:27 pm -      #25

    what can make this match less of a stomp
    -
    Change of location: amazon
    -
    change of scenario:MC has to get away from him and he has little weapon caches with different weapons and such
    -
    MC gets cortana

  26. Ford Prefect October 19, 2012 at 12:52 pm -      #26

    @Ammo
    Ghost is completely invisible, not much is gonna make it a fair match.

  27. Amm0vamp1r3 October 19, 2012 at 12:55 pm -      #27

    or maybe we just wait for halo 4

  28. SgCombine October 19, 2012 at 1:08 pm -      #28

    @Ammo
    Master Chief isn’t going to magically turn into Samus Aran come Halo 4. He gets some new standardized gear like Thruster packs (which apparently have always been there) and maybe Promethean vision (see through walls), but his suit and weapons remain fairly unchanged outside of looks.

  29. Amm0vamp1r3 October 19, 2012 at 1:20 pm -      #29

    You never know,i mean im not expecting him to just turn into god come halo 4 im just think he may get something that will make it closer.

  30. Doc Samson October 19, 2012 at 1:54 pm -      #30

    @Amm0vamp1r3
    To make his matches more even we could give Master Chief this:

    media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/5469/135325-7171-infinity-gauntlet_large.jpg

  31. Ford Prefect October 19, 2012 at 4:06 pm -      #31

    @Doc
    No, spLAz0Rz beet da inphinitee gauntlet

  32. Kytheros October 19, 2012 at 4:28 pm -      #32

    Barring something truly radical upgrading the Chief in Halo 4, I believe that the Ghost will take this handily.
    While he ought to acquire at least some of the armor abilities somewhere along the line in H4, I don’t believe that they’ll be anywhere near enough to keep him from being taken down by the Ghost.

  33. DragonRebornSTOMP October 19, 2012 at 4:48 pm -      #33

    perhaps the ghost gets a pistol and no cloaking, chief gets cortana and it’s in Forward Unto Dawn? the ship. not the show.

  34. deathmetal3k October 19, 2012 at 5:01 pm -      #34

    Whoa wait a second why is this a stomp no one has posted any legitament evidence for either side? Please explain how on earth the Ghost wins so easily?

  35. DragonRebornSTOMP October 19, 2012 at 5:11 pm -      #35

    does someone with a little more patience wanna handle this one?

  36. deathmetal3k October 19, 2012 at 5:13 pm -      #36

    Go ahead and explain please. I’m not one of those master chief wankers that have made halo look horrible on this sight but I would like to see some evidence. Not trying to be rude but it’s only fair.

  37. Kytheros October 19, 2012 at 5:14 pm -      #37

    @DragonRebornSTOMP –
    Forward Unto Dawn, with the exception of the little intro bits with Cortana and Chief in cryo, chronologically speaking, predates Halo: Reach. It’s placed in the relatively early stages of the Covenant War. That means, the Chief should be in his … first? suit of Mjolnir, the Mark 3? – the version without energy shields.
    -
    @deathmetal3k
    The Ghost can cloak, for more or less indefinitely, has psychic powers (usually telepathy and telekinesis), and has a Starcraft sniper rifle equivalent.
    Chief cannot find the Ghost, the Ghost can find and track Chief far more easily, and, IIRC, the Ghost carries a weapon that’s more dangerous than a UNSC sniper rifle.
    -
    Oh, if Chief got close to the Ghost while the Ghost wasn’t cloaked or paying attention, he’d probably be able to kill the Ghost – Ghosts aren’t in heavy power armor.

  38. DragonRebornSTOMP October 19, 2012 at 5:18 pm -      #38

    @Kytheros true, but people have said remarkably stupid things if i don’t clariffy a little.and i agree with ur assessment. which is why i suggested taking away it’s best weapon and cloak.

  39. deathmetal3k October 19, 2012 at 5:22 pm -      #39

    @Kytheros well the sniper thing makes this pretty bad.

    -

    The cloak isn’t new though. Spartans have motion sensors along with Thermal vision.

    -

    The telepathy…. Hmmm… Well MC is a battle hardened warrior who’s fought things that most warriors would faint at seeing. ( though I don’t know how Starcraft compares I don’t know I much on it ) also the grave mind tried messing with chief through his head and in the end chief ending up destroying him and rember the grave mind was able to break Cortanna and Forerunner Ais. Quite an impressive feat if MC was able to withstand that.

    -

    The telekinesis is quite a problem. What exactly can he do with? Can he basically through anything? Or are their limits to what he can do?

    -

    Also according to the match and factpile rules MC knows exactly what’s coming from him and he has Cortanna. So if this is the case he’s not going to go out in the open to let the sniper pick him off. ( again though what are the other quality a ghost has? ) I’m not trying to say MC is invincible cause he’s not in any way but he’s sure is not a punching bag. ( depending in the opponent. I mean superman vs MC? Really who though of that? )

  40. deathmetal3k October 19, 2012 at 5:23 pm -      #40

    Throw* not through on my last post.

  41. DragonRebornSTOMP October 19, 2012 at 5:26 pm -      #41

    I don’t know which imbecile thought MC could beat supes, but there have been ghosts (fou i think?) that could estroy skyscraper scale buildings with their minds but im not sure what the norm is. the gravemind thing doesn’t seem relevant, cause i don’t think the gravemind was trying to hurt him. it still messed with his perception quite a biy though, so thats something to consider.

  42. SgCombine October 19, 2012 at 5:26 pm -      #42

    I thought Ghosts with telekinesis was extremely rare, thats why the basic ghost (ingame at least) could only cloak and snipe. Although telepathy is bad for Chief, The Gravemind did make the Chief sort of stop in the middle of battle and mess with his vision multiple times in Halo 3. Anyway, taking the Ghosts main weapon(the sniper rifle) away is really cheap =/

  43. DragonRebornSTOMP October 19, 2012 at 5:27 pm -      #43

    four and destroy. i hate typos.

  44. DragonRebornSTOMP October 19, 2012 at 5:28 pm -      #44

    Sg i thought it would make it closer with the pistol and telekinetics.

  45. SgCombine October 19, 2012 at 5:37 pm -      #45

    Master Chief has no counters for telekinesis, though I guess it depends on how it works, like does the Ghost need to see Chief to use his powers or he can “sense” him?

  46. DragonRebornSTOMP October 19, 2012 at 5:39 pm -      #46

    depends on the ghosts’ psi level. Kerrigan and Nova could kill things they couldn’t see, but they were the best of the best.

  47. Ford Prefect October 19, 2012 at 5:44 pm -      #47

    @Dragonreborn
    I think Gabriel Tosh, Sarah Kerrigan and Nova were some of the most powerful psionics, and that other guy…Duran. Specters also have that energy lash thing and high level psi masters also have Protoss powers like psi storm.

  48. DragonRebornSTOMP October 19, 2012 at 5:45 pm -      #48

    yeah that.

  49. Ford Prefect October 19, 2012 at 5:49 pm -      #49

    The ghost rifle can penetrate marine armor, and Protoss shields. The ghost can lockdown (basically EMP, but also locks powered things in place, and EMP shock wave which destroys all shields, making the Chief into a nearly defenseless locked down EMP’d target.

  50. Kytheros October 19, 2012 at 6:06 pm -      #50

    I’m reasonably certain that Chief’s armor is hardened against EMP, at least, to an extent.

  51. DragonRebornSTOMP October 19, 2012 at 6:08 pm -      #51

    to an extent, but so are the protoss and they’re still affected. his armor is just hardened enough that the Covenant cannot simply kill their suits with a plasma grenade or a charged plasma shot.

  52. Ford Prefect October 19, 2012 at 6:11 pm -      #52

    For some reason, I think lockdown works differently than an EMP as it doesn’t seem to work on Terran power armor, just vehicles, so ignore the lockdown factoid.

  53. BillDing October 19, 2012 at 7:13 pm -      #53

    This match had to happen eventually. Why do people refer to these guys from centuries ahead in the past tense so much again?

  54. Ford Prefect October 19, 2012 at 8:04 pm -      #54

    Can we PLEASE have an old comedy-style match such as Meme free-for-all. What comes to mind is Dr. Mcninja vs Saxton Hale vs Chuck Norris. My money is on the good doctor.

  55. BC October 19, 2012 at 8:46 pm -      #55

    Here is an old clip of Kerrigan that shows what an early version of the rifle can do. The big Zerg she kills with a few shots usually kills squads of marines before going down and is better engaged by a tank normally. It does not give a good idea of her full capabilities since she is at the end of a very long and vicious battle and her suit batteries are all but dead and can no longer maintain the cloak, she is exhausted mentally and physically, is almost out of ammo, and depressed and angry enough about the betrayal to accept the offer she receives right at the end of the clip. On top of all that that particular ghost rig is obsolete since the clip is from so early in the wars:
    www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBR3doYRick
    -
    The next clip, despite the name actually has very little to do with ghosts and more with marines, and shows how massively armored the power armor is. Their guns would tear up an Abrams tank like it was made of Styrofoam though they do not look that impressive against the Zerg in this clip (there are extensive figures on another thread, the one pitting Imperial guard against SC marines I think).
    www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4JSohLwCpQ&feature=youtu.be
    -
    At 02:09 on the next clip there is an example of ghost telekinesis being used to lift and slam power armored troops.

    Wow wow wow!?? What is the think look like an oversized wrath shooting down the battlecruise in the trailer? And I don’t think she’s gonna kill Valerie, it’s look like that the raider, Valerie and the swarm joint force to bring down the emperor? And the zerg stuff with hook-and-pull thing is bad*ss!

  57. Khazit October 19, 2012 at 10:14 pm -      #57

    *thing, my bad

  58. PwNaGE TraiN October 20, 2012 at 11:05 pm -      #58

    Starcraft Ghost has better armor and weapons, that I believe could penetrate and kill Chief fairly easily. Ghost is the obvious winner.

  59. DragonRebornSTOMP October 21, 2012 at 11:41 pm -      #59

    sooooo… we done here? what happens now?

  60. BC October 22, 2012 at 5:21 am -      #60

    It seems so, the ghost seems to be the clear winner.

  61. mattsmash October 22, 2012 at 1:11 pm -      #61

    So the standar ghost can’t use telekinesises? Also someone stated earlier thatif MC got his hands on the ghost he could probably kill the ghost. Ok so I love how everyone assumes the superior tech equals victory. Especially when history and pop culture are both littered with examples of inferior tech winning usually because of better training. MC has a lot of training and he is quite intelligent thanks to his neural enhancements. It’s not in conceivable that MC could track a cloaked ghost he has tracked cloaked elites before. He has a motion sensor and thermal vision and let’s not forget that Cairo is covered in sand and that the ghost’s footprints would show up in the sand.
    -
    As for emp MC’s suit functioned in space after several powerful nukes went off. Which release massive emp’s when the go off much more than a ghost is capable of replicating so the emp argument is invalid.
    -
    Now that we the shields can’t be knocked down so easily and that chief can and will track the ghost. It isn’t inconceivable that he could set a trap. Perhaps lure the ghost into so sort of deep gulley or small canyon and use some foam explosives which we know to be much much stronger than c4. To blow the walls of the gulley or canyon. If the insuing land slide didn’t kill the ghost then he/she would at least be quite rattled, enough that MC could close and use his immense strength to either rip the ghost apart or perhaps just stick them with a plasma grenade which could also be used to blow the walls of the gulley/canyon if someone would like to think that demo- explosive aren’t standard issue for special forces.
    -
    I’m not saying that MC wins for sure. I’m just trying to make it clear that it is plausible for him to win an that he is not a punching bag. also it seems no one really represented MC on this thread and I doubt there are very many people who actually know a lot about Starcraft.

  62. mattsmash October 22, 2012 at 1:19 pm -      #62

    Oh and I forgot that the hearing ability of a spartan 2 in mjolnir mark 6 is described as being able to hear a raindrop hit the ground in a sand storm and to know where it hit at. No matter how silent a ghost might seem there movements will create compressive waves in the air(which is the definition of sound) and MC will hear them and pinpoint there location using only his ears.

  63. BC October 22, 2012 at 3:59 pm -      #63

    “ So the standar ghost can’t use telekinesises? “
    -
    As far as I know of all ghosts have some psi abilities, with telepathy being the most common. Kerrigan was always exceptional and her time as queen of blades has boosted her abilities to some degree; not all ghosts are powerful in more than one psi field. TK seems to be more in use to subtly nudge projectiles into even more accuracy than anything else (and there is a fan theory at least that they use it to keep from getting thrown off of their feet when firing those horrendously powerful sniper rifles rather than just a Halo-like disregard of physics).
    -
    Gabriel Tosh, while a specter rather than a normal ghost, was able to actually make voodoo dolls work via psionics (though he missed the target at least once and got a hapless random marine with one of them instead). After assassinating Tosh, Nova Terra (the blonde ghost from the clip) picked up the doll and was idly playing with it which threw the marine (in full armor no less) around and finally killed him without realizing it which presumably would have to draw on her TK instead of the dead Tosh’s TK.
    -
    Nova Terra, when only 15 and not trained yet, went Carrie when rebels murdered her parents and killed the attackers and twisted up the skyscraper they were in at the time. As part of her final test for ghost certification she tracked down the man who ordered the attack and killed him telepathically.
    -
    MCs thermal vision would not be any better than visible light, Zerg use thermal a lot and they do not see through the cloak though the motion sensors may pick up something. The cloak is not perfect, it has very slight distortions though far less than the Predator ones do; it usually takes being very close to see them well enough to use them to find the ghost. I am not familiar enough with MC to estimate whether his psi resistance would be strong enough to keep the ghost from playing mind tricks on him to throw him off the trail.
    -
    If MC gets a hold of the ghost she (or he, though female ghosts outnumber the males enough that the marines macho taunt in the transport in the clip a few posts back that got the joke turned on him is even funnier) would not last long since the ghost armor is not strength enhancing beyond possibly compensating for its own weight. The ghost combat knives do not seem to be anything special either, just smaller versions of the marine ones that can be held in human sized hands and conduct the cloak field so they are invisible as well and do not appear to be floating in air; the big difference seems to be that targets rarely have the slightest idea the ghost is there before their throat is cut. Nova favors the knife and is known to walk right into enemy strongholds to assassinate the enemy commanders with it( in fact she does that to a specter, a terrazine enhanced ghost for all practical purposes).

    “ As for emp MC’s suit functioned in space after several powerful nukes went off. Which release massive emp’s when the go off much more than a ghost is capable of replicating so the emp argument is invalid. “
    -
    The marine suits and other units function after nukes too. The lockdown and EMP functions of the ghost seem to be based on some active technology rather than a single burst so while it does not seem to permanently burn out the targets electronics it keeps them in reset for a while. It may also have something to do with psionics to some degree but I have to look into that further to more than guess about that.

  64. SgCombine October 22, 2012 at 9:46 pm -      #64

    “MCs thermal vision would not be any better than visible light, Zerg use thermal a lot”
    -
    How about X-Ray (or something similar)? Promethean vision has been shown to be able to see through multiple walls.

  65. Kytheros October 22, 2012 at 10:29 pm -      #65

    We don’t know what the “Promethean vision” does, really. All we know is that it’s an alternate vision mode – which is new to gameplay.
    Also, assuming I’ve not gotten things mixed up, we also know that the alt vision mode was part of MC’s armor from Halo 3, and it appeared (visually speaking, from the gameplay demo vids) highly similar to thermal imaging – which can see through walls.

  66. SgCombine October 22, 2012 at 11:02 pm -      #66

    “We don’t know what the “Promethean vision” does, really.”
    -
    “can see through walls.”
    -
    Contradiction? Promethean vision is an armor ability that’s somehow picked off dead Promethean units. It wasn’t in Halo 3 nor did MC have it until he got to Requiem. From what I’ve seen in the countless gameplay videos of it, and what I’ve read, its VISR 4.0 (like the ODST vision), but the Promethean part sends out “waves” that let you see through walls and such. Thats pretty much it, oh and in-game it only lasts 5-10 seconds.

  67. Kytheros October 22, 2012 at 11:15 pm -      #67

    Do we actually know that it’s acquired from dead Promethean units? Source for that please.
    Without that source, assuming I’m thinking of the right thing … MC has the alt vision mode before there has been time to upgrade his armor, before he gets to the Infinity, and only shortly after his first encounter with the Prometheans, ergo it was already on his armor … much like the thrusters from the cutscene when he wakes up on Forward Unto Dawn.

  68. deathmetal3k October 22, 2012 at 11:25 pm -      #68

    Elites camo seems to be just as good as the ghosts vision as in the books marines never see them coming until their dead. I believe the elites camo has Been described as just ripples in the air and in the books their weapons cloak along with them too. Spartans have regualrly faced these types of elites and lived to tell the tale so the camo argument is of much use.

    -

    Also is doesn’t matter how well your camo is if it’s been described how sensitive a Spartans hearing is. And with Cortanna to enhance his relflexs no ghost is going to get a knife in his back.

  69. Kytheros October 22, 2012 at 11:44 pm -      #69

    Cortana is counted as ‘outside help’, ie, she’s her own character. In other words, she’s not part of MC.
    -
    For the sake of argument … suppose that MC can (approximately) localize the Ghost at close range. This does him absolutely no good when the Ghost puts a round through his visor or through his neck from 250+m.
    Also, it’s quite possible, even probable, that the Ghost can futz with MC’s perception/senses via telepathy, thus negating MC’s ability to rely on heightened senses to localize the Ghost.

    Lol at Elite stealth being on par with ghost cloaking.

  72. ahrrhd October 23, 2012 at 12:17 pm -      #72

    I like Ghost more but due to the fact they are fighting in Earth, where none of Terran haven’t visited for centuries, Master Chief have upper hand in geographical adventage…Let them fight in somewhere they both don’t know…

  73. Ford Prefect October 23, 2012 at 12:42 pm -      #73

    @Ahrrhd
    Um…nope The UED (united earth directorate), as per the name, has its HQ on earth

  74. Ford Prefect October 23, 2012 at 12:43 pm -      #74

    Please people, leave the blind assumptions to the experts, wait what?

  75. ahrrhd October 23, 2012 at 2:20 pm -      #75

    @Ford Prefect
    True, UED have their own Ghost Program, but the problem is we don’t know anything about them, there’s no record about them..Thinking they are better then that of Dominion’s ghost is blind assumption..

  76. ahrrhd October 23, 2012 at 2:24 pm -      #76

    And it’s also possible that ghost program of Koprulu Sector is far older then that of Earth’s program…Judgin by UPL collapsed right after Zerg’s invasion of the Sector, and UPL did not supported ghost program
    And one more thing…The picture of ghost up there is Seth Ghost…i just re-read the painter’s discription and it said he’s Nova’s friend..Nova is Dominion’s ghost..

  77. Ford Prefect October 23, 2012 at 2:37 pm -      #77

    @ahrrhd
    umm, they were in brood war, and their ghosts functioned exactly the same, could be gameplay. Though judging by Duran, i’d say they’re about equal in capability.

  78. ahrrhd October 23, 2012 at 2:54 pm -      #78

    @Ford Prefect
    It’s gameplay…and the reason for UED and Dominion ghosts similar skills is…because UED’s arsenal durning the Brood War was actually that of the Dominion..Original UED’s weaponary includes medics, valkyries, and couple of other improved weapons for old Dominion forces..
    Example for this may be 2nd mission of Terran in Brood War, where UED used the Dominion’s battlecruisers to defeat Duke’s fleet

  79. Ford Prefect October 23, 2012 at 4:35 pm -      #79

    Well, let’s say it’s a Dominion ghost, standard gear and powers (no high level protoss esque psi storms etc).

  80. DragonRebornSTOMP October 23, 2012 at 8:52 pm -      #80

    in that case MC might have more of a chance, but the ghost doesn’t need Toss level power to screw with Chief’s perception like Gravemind did. he may not be able to do it for very long or very well, but enough to disguese(spelled wrong) the ripples from his cloak and snipe the Chief.

  81. Ford Prefect October 23, 2012 at 8:59 pm -      #81

    @Dragon
    I don’t remember if the ripple effect was just game mechanics because I don’t think you can see them in SCII, only SCI. Even then, would it make sense for the Zerg or Protoss to not notice these ripples?

  82. Kytheros October 23, 2012 at 9:07 pm -      #82

    @Ford – I’d say the ripples are game mechanics/a game effect, as in the cutscenes, there is no noticeable ripple except when the cloak is being activated/deactivated.

  83. Ford Prefect October 23, 2012 at 9:10 pm -      #83

    Also, don’t ghosts have some form of limited precog?

    MC vs SC Ghost
    TRAINING:
    Ghost training and MC training are both extremely difficult and demanding.
    ——————-
    Ghost: Quote from Starcraft Wiki: “Ghosts are also trained to move quickly and are desensitized to combat; an example would be Sarah Kerrigan’s training, who had a gun placed to her head by a guard and was ordered to kill the guard before he killed her. Kerrigan was subjected to this training at age twelve.”
    ——————-
    Master Chief: Quote from Halo Wiki: “At the age of six, he was identified by Dr. Catherine Halsey as one of 150 preliminary candidates for the SPARTAN-II Program.”

    We can conclude that they have both gone through intensive training from a very young age.
    WEAPONS LOADOUT:
    Both are equipped with highly specialized and powerful weapons.
    ——————-
    Ghost:
    - Hostile Environment Suit
    –Its temperature regulation system could shield the wearer from heat detection equipment. (SC Wiki)
    –In addition to an adjustable temperature setting, it is laced with a form of psi-sensitive artificial muscle fiber which augments their natural physical strength. (SC Wiki)
    –Perhaps the most well known function of the suit is its cloaking ability. Though older models lack it, many ghost suits feature a personal cloaking device, allowing the ghost to render him/herself invisible. The amount of time this is able to be used is limited by the amount of energy available, though can be increased through the installation of a Moebius Reactor. (SC Wiki)
    - C-10 Canister rifle
    –These models were capable of firing lockdown and explosive rounds.(SC Wiki)
    –By 2499, the C-10 mainly fired 25mm high explosive rounds.(SC Wiki). An M1A2 Abrams tank fires 120mm high explosive rounds Army.mil. We can assume that since Ghosts are an elite sniper Marine, their rounds will go hypersonic as well. Extrapolating from this, a Ghost’s canister rifle will reach the amount of firepower of an Abrams high explosive round after 5~ shots.
    -Its rounds appear to be charged with energy instead of relying purely on conventional explosives and had the power to destroy siege tanks from the inside. (SC Wiki)
    -Now bear with me, this is from SC FANFICTION Wiki. But this was the only thing I could find… The accuracy of Ghosts has improved thanks to the C-10 containing a magnetic grid tracker to verify coordinates, and it is accurate out to a range of 1200 meters. (SC Fanfiction Wiki)
    -There is also the lockdown device, which can disable vehicles for a minute. (SC Wiki). It is unclear whether this will work on MC’s MJOLNIR suit.
    -Psyblade: The psyblade is a psionic melee weapon devised by the Terran Dominion using protoss technology. It is used exclusively by ghosts. (SC Wiki). The power of the psyblade is unknown, but since it is derived from Protoss zealot psi blades, the power should be the same or comparable.
    Torrent SR-8 shotgun: The Torrent SR-8 is a terran shotgun firing adamantine shot into a conical volume. (SC Wiki). It’s power is unclear.
    ——————-
    Master Chief:
    - MJOLNIR armor:
    –The armor’s outer shell is composed of a multilayer alloy of remarkable strength and has been augmented with a refractive coating capable of dispersing a limited amount of Covenant energy weapon strikes. The suit contains a gel-filled layer underneath a thick black armored bodysuit. The gel layer regulates temperature and can reactively change its density. The inner skinsuit is made of a moisture-absorbing synthetic material linked to an environment control computer and the occupant’s UNSC-issue neural interface. (Halo Wiki)
    –The suit also possesses other features that enhance its wearer’s abilities. It has numerous clips, belts, and magnetic holsters for the attachment of additional weapons and ammunition; an advanced Heads-Up-Display(HUD) linked to sensors in the gloves detects the type of weapon and devices held, and to project shield strength, ammunition count, a targeting reticule, waypoints, a radio uplink for communication, health monitoring and other helpful data. (Halo Wiki)
    – First used on the Mk. V, and later refined on the Mk. VI, the energy shield device is reversed engineered from Covenant technology. Begun in 2532 forty scientists and technicians would spend the next 20 years attempting to make some use of the technology. For decades the attempts at cracking their technology had met with failure after failure, some had given up and others in the scientific community believed the energy shield technology could never be cracked. However at some point before 2552 a breakthrough was made and for the first time the UNSC had successfully cracked and improved upon the technology. (Halo Wiki)
    - MA5C
    –The MA5C has a range of 300 meters. (Halo Wiki)
    – The MA5C Assault Rifle and the MA5B Assault Rifle uses M118 7.62x51mm Armor Piercing, Full Metal Jacket Rounds. These rounds are designed to pierce body armor so the rounds are reasonably large, and are surrounded by a molded jacket of either steel or titanium, which enhances its armor-piercing capabilities. (Halo Wiki).
    – The MA5C’s main disadvantage is that it is grossly inaccurate when fired in full-automatic. Even though substantially better than the MA5B, it is too inaccurate for use at longer ranges, which makes the user an easy target for long range weapons – at long range a high ratio of misses to hits is likely, especially if the target is moving. The magazine can run out very quickly in fully automatic fire and has relatively low power per round compared to many other weapons; an engagement with numerous and/or particularly resilient enemies will likely require the user to reload a few times before they die. It should be used as a secondary weapon for shorter ranges, paired with a long range weapon like the Battle Rifle. (Halo Wiki).
    - Spartan Laser
    –The M6 Grindell, commonly known as the Spartan Laser, can probably one-shot a ghost as it can travel cleanly through MJOLNIR armor. (Halo Wiki)
    –It has a very slow rate of fire, at 5 second minimum between shots. (Halo Wiki).
    –It’s range is as far as you can see (Halo Wiki).
    AUGUMENTATION
    Both MC and the Ghost go through intensive augmentation to their bodies to improve their reflexes, strength, etc.
    ——————-
    Ghost:
    -Their reconnaissance role was aided by cybernetic enhancements to their eyes. (SC Wiki)
    -No other augmentations are known, although they are expected.
    ——————-
    Master Chief:
    -Carbide Ceramic Ossification
    –Advanced material grafting onto skeletal structures to make bones virtually unbreakable. Recommended coverage not to exceed 3% total bone mass because of significant white blood cell necrosis.
    -Muscular Enhancement Injections
    –Protein complex is injected intramuscularly to increase tissue density and decrease lactase recovery time.
    -Catalytic Thyroid Implant
    –Platinum pellet containing human growth hormone catalyst is implanted in the thyroid to boost growth of skeletal and muscle tissues.
    -Occipital Capillary Reversal
    –Submergence and boosted blood vessel flow beneath the rods and cones of the subject’s retina. Produces a marked visual perception increase.
    -Superconducting Fibrification of Neural Dendrites
    –Alteration of bioeletrical nerve transduction to shielded electronic transduction. 300% increase in subject reflexes. Anecdotal evidence of marked increase in intelligence, memory, and creativity.
    PSIONIC/PSYCHER ABILITIES
    Ghosts are known to the psionic abilities. MC does not.
    ——————-
    Ghost:
    -Mind Reading
    –Ghosts have the ability to read minds but generally do not have the ability to block thoughts; ghosts find each other very easy to read (SC Wiki)
    -Invisibility/Cloaking
    –Ghosts channeled their psionic energies through their hostile environment suit, a specialized skinsuit laced with psi-sensitive artificial muscle fiber, to augment their physical capabilities. A cloaking device and requisite power supply were frequently issued as well; the device requires psionic energy as a component. (SC Wiki)
    -Affect emotions
    –Some ghosts have also demonstrated the ability to plant suicidal and homicidal urges into an opponent’s mind. (SC Wiki)
    –See through thermal vsion
    –In addition to their previous abilities, ghosts were trained to combine psionics and technology to do things such as see through objects with heat vision. (SC Wiki)
    ——————-
    Master Chief: None

    CONCLUSIONS:
    TRAINING: TIE
    WEAPONS: GHOST
    SUIT: MJOLNIR’S SUPER STRENGTH COUNTERACTED BY CLOAKING- TIE
    AUGUMENTATIONS: MASTER CHIEF
    PSIONIC ABILITIES: GHOST
    CONCLUTION: GHOST WINS
