Fable Vs The Elder Scrolls

Fable Vs The Elder Scrolls

Up next is the Fable universe facing off against the mighty Elder Scrolls franchise.

While the typical scenarios apply, there are a few optional questions for debate.

Which franchise would you want to live in?
Which franchise would be more fun?
Which franchise would lend itself to morph into modern times?

1st!! And Elder Scrolls all the way, they’ll kill them with their breath

  2. LittleEpp September 27, 2012 at 7:43 am -      #2

I know almost nothing about either of these franchises, so I can’t lend anything very good to the debate, but I think I heard Skyrim dragons need to be “reminded of their mortality” or something like that, and I don’t know if any fable characters can do that. No idea about the bonus scenarios.

  3. Zazax September 27, 2012 at 7:52 am -      #3

No idea about a battle (although I’d lean towards Elder Scrolls just by presence of gods), Fable definitely wins the ‘Would you like to live here’ and ‘morph into modern world’ scenarios.
Elder Scrolls is kind of a crapsack world, between corprus disease, invasions from Oblivion, civil war, dragons murderifying everything, rampant Fantastic Racism, and more, it doesn’t seem like a happy place to live.
Fable’s not exactly pretty either, but it’s better.
    -
As for ‘morph into modern world’, Fable wins hands down. Only a small subset of people have supernatural powers, and they’re going through an industrial revolution anyways.
Conversely, Elder Scrolls has Elves, Orcs (okay, they’re really a special kind of Elf), lizard people, cat people, and widespread magic. I rest my case.

“(although I’d lean towards Elder Scrolls just by presence of gods), ”
    fable has two gods technichaly
Avo (god of light) and a god of darkness whos names i forget

  5. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 8:23 am -      #5

Alduin eats the Fable world and calls it a day.

  6. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 8:26 am -      #6

aludin? you mean the pussy dragon from skyrim?

  7. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 8:49 am -      #7

any of the pc heros kick dragon borns ass easily

  8. Ford Prefect September 27, 2012 at 8:51 am -      #8

Alduin can only be killed by the dragonborn and he can EAT THE FRIGGIN WORLD!

  9. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 8:55 am -      #9

“Alduin can only be killed by the dragonborn ”
    why
    ——
i can think of hundreds of charachters that could kill him easy
rand al’thor and nicol bolas come to mind

  10. Ford Prefect September 27, 2012 at 8:55 am -      #10

Oh, and huge daedric monsters, the siege machine thing from tesIV and the multiple powerful deities.

  11. Ford Prefect September 27, 2012 at 8:56 am -      #11

    @fallstar
In lore he can only be killed by dragonborn, noone else.

  12. Ford Prefect September 27, 2012 at 8:59 am -      #12

They tried to kill or cast him from reality with an elder scroll, a fragment of the light of creation, and he returned. After you kill him in game, it is said he will probably return at the end of the world where he will devour reality.

  13. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 9:02 am -      #13

“In lore he can only be killed by dragonborn, noone else.”
nlf both people i listed could

  14. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 9:04 am -      #14

    heheheh, no.
    -
Canon Dragonborn can bring castles down with his voice, there’s a reason why the Greybeards live in exile, honing their skills to, you know, not kill anybody on sight with their voices.
    -
There’s also the fact that the dragonborn is pretty much an avatar of Akatosh the main deity of the Elder Scrolls universe, so, that probably helps…there’s also the fact that anybody from Fable would probably perform suicide if they had to live in Skyrim for a week, for how harsh it can be.

  15. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 9:06 am -      #15

Only a Dragonborn (one implicitly born with the blood of dragons, which it is itself a gift of Akatosh, their main god) can kill Alduin, and even then he will still come back since his destiny is to eat the world so it all can start again, so good luck to your Fable heroes…I doubt that they will do anything to Alduin at all.

  16. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 9:06 am -      #16

“that anybody from Fable would probably perform suicide if they had to live in Skyrim for a week, for how harsh it can be.”
any one of the heros would make skyrim thier playground in a week
    jack of blades would wreck

  17. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 9:08 am -      #17

or teresa uses the spire to banish him or brain wash all of tes

  18. Ford Prefect September 27, 2012 at 9:09 am -      #18

I’m guessing the aedra aren’t gonna come down and whup some ass, but akatosh would probably completely decimate fable.

  19. Ford Prefect September 27, 2012 at 9:12 am -      #19

So no gods like Alduin or akatosh then, they’re too op? Daedra should be allowed but Alduin cannot be defeated by fable, nor his dragon army, they can all just come back again.

  20. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 9:13 am -      #20

“So no gods like Alduin or akatosh then, they’re too op? Daedra should be allowed but Alduin cannot be defeated by fable, nor his dragon army, they can all just come back again.”
under fables control due to the spire

  21. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 9:14 am -      #21

Oh, so we are using magical artifacts eh? Very well. The Elder Scrolls side, use, guess what? The Elder Scrolls!
    -
One out of the three shown in Skyrim would do, or you know, having the Dragonborn just rip the soul of anybody who opposes the Elder Scrolls side, seeing how he can, Soul rip after all is one of his many shouts.

  22. Ford Prefect September 27, 2012 at 9:16 am -      #22

    @Fallstar
Read: daedra and aedra are GODS. You cannot mind control GODS! Alduin is the son of Akatosh, who is a GOD! The dragons are immortal beings who control the forces of the universe with their voices! No mind control for you!

  23. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 9:18 am -      #23

“Read: daedra and aedra are GODS. You cannot mind control GODS! Alduin is the son of Akatosh, who is a GOD! The dragons are immortal beings who control the forces of the universe with their voices! No mind control for you!”
proof that demi-gods in tes cant be mind controled

  24. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 9:19 am -      #24

also the spire would have worked on the hero who has the blood of a god

  25. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 9:19 am -      #25

The so powerful spire is also limited on its power, seeing how it cannot grant you a damn wish that makes everything right, it’s either:
-Get back your family, everybody else stays dead/suffers
-Revive the others, you don’t get your family nor your dog back
-Fuck everybody and gets lots of money
    -
With that said, you dare tell me that it will actually grant the Fable side such a powerful wish? HAHAHAHA!

  26. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 9:20 am -      #26

    “it’s either:
-Get back your family, everybody else stays dead/suffers

-Fuck everybody and gets lots of money
    -
With that said, you dare tell me that it will actually grant the Fable side such a powerful wish? HAHAHAHA!”
not a valid argument seeing as the game is based on choices

  27. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 9:21 am -      #27

+ its what lucien was planing to use it for

  28. Ford Prefect September 27, 2012 at 9:22 am -      #28

    @Fallstar
Proof? Alduin, the firstborn of Akatosh, is an immortal dragon from the dawn if time who cannot be killed, at all, but only be banished by the elder scrolls or the Dovahkiin. He controlled innumerable hordes of humans through the voice, the thu’um, and has a huge army of dragon. He is not a demigod, he is not part human, he is a force of nature.

  29. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 9:24 am -      #29

    @ford
so no feats of resisting mind control?

  30. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 9:25 am -      #30

Not a valid argument indeed, seeing how the spire only grants a single wish, too bad the hero of bowerstone already used that wish :/
    -
Oh well, blood for the (dragon) blood god!

  31. Ford Prefect September 27, 2012 at 9:33 am -      #31

    @Fallstar
They are resistant or immune to mind altering magics in Skyrim, and the Aedra are the creaor gods, but no mind resistance feats for the gods.

  32. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 9:35 am -      #32

If you cannot mind control Dragons either, their will is too powerful to overcome.

  33. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 9:35 am -      #33

ignore the if at the beginning ^

  34. GuardianAngel1911 September 27, 2012 at 9:44 am -      #34

As per the fact that Alduin has never met the other universe anything from there has potential if it can equal Dragonborn in power, shouldn’t be hard.
Read the Balrog vs Alduin thread on this site that bullshit was gone over there I believe, No Limit’s Fallacy, just because we haven’t seen someone else whoop Alduins ass doesn’t mean no one outside of Elder Scrolls can’t.
Rand Al Thor’s balefire can erase most anything from existance so I’m betting he could take on Alduin, and there are plenty of characters more powerful than Dragonborne or Alduin out there, if Alduin can be killed by someone from one universe then he can be killed by a powerful enough person from another universe.

  35. Ford Prefect September 27, 2012 at 9:45 am -      #35

Rather live in Fable-verse, TES stomps fable in combat.

  36. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 9:48 am -      #36

Except he is protected by a plot device, sure, you can beat his physical form, but he will come back again and again because that’s his sole purpose in existence, to eat the world.
    -
Even the Dragonborn, who was prophesied to defeat Alduin wasn’t able to absorb Alduin’s soul after defeating him at Sovngarde.

  37. GuardianAngel1911 September 27, 2012 at 9:49 am -      #37

Plot Device is ignored on this site we don’t take PIS CIS Plot Devices or anything similar into account.

  38. Commander Cross September 27, 2012 at 9:50 am -      #38

    @Admiral

Actually it wasn’t stated definitely that Alduin in current incarnation is dead, defeated its generally agreed on, but killed outright?
Debatable at best, and a moot point at that as most current incarnation for Alduin is Unavailable for the TES side.
True enough on Balefire though, and as for a being powerful enough to fight Alduin, might I personally suggest Cubia or Typhon?

IB says this matter might take a while if we’re talking about kombat but as for where to live, I dunno, both worlds are pretty huge and had their fair share of cosmic horrors at the very least.

  39. Ford Prefect September 27, 2012 at 9:56 am -      #39

So Alduin immortality is a NLF? Makes sense I guess.

  40. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 9:57 am -      #40

Oh well, the Elder Scrolls side still takes this, mostly because the Fable side lacks any truly powerful being apart from the heroes (or at least everything seemed weak in my playthroughs in both Fable II and III).
    -
I mean, Hobbes? beetles? please :|

  41. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 10:02 am -      #41

trolls, undead, ghosts, undead heros, balverines, sand furries, crawler+shadows, people with guns, imortal chickens(jk) etc

  42. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 10:04 am -      #42

    + the shadow court
    wich can make people immortal

  43. Ford Prefect September 27, 2012 at 10:05 am -      #43

    Fable does have guns though…

  44. Ford Prefect September 27, 2012 at 10:09 am -      #44

Atronachs, trolls, giants, draugr, zombies, dragons, scamps, xivilai, dremora, spider daedra, daedroths, frostbite spiders, dwemer machinations and more.

  45. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 10:12 am -      #45

half of wich cant take a shot from a blunderbuss, a bullet to the head or canon fire

  46. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 10:13 am -      #46

Trolls, you mean the ones that were hunted down to extinction by Logan?, undead who crumble without as much as a few hits? sand furies are nothing but an annoyance.
    -
People with guns… wasn’t the army of Albion like, wrecked by the end of the third game?

  47. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 10:18 am -      #47

“Trolls, you mean the ones that were hunted down to extinction by Logan?, ”
i though it was suggested there were some left
“undead who crumble without as much as a few hits?”
the weakest can take a few hits from the hero who is stronger than a normal human
“People with guns… wasn’t the army of Albion like, wrecked by the end of the third game?”
    depends on your choices
i kept all my promises while minimising casulties(it suprisingly easy just start buying as much property as you can assoon as you can)

  48. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 10:21 am -      #48

In Fable III, there are no trolls, and according to the item description of the Legendary Hammer Trollblight, King Logan held a campaign to eradicate the creatures. It was largely successful, particularly in the cultivated regions of Albion.

  49. Ford Prefect September 27, 2012 at 10:21 am -      #49

    @Fallstar
Most of them survive multiple daedric or similar arrows to the face and survive, so… Not to mention powerful magic attacks.

  50. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 10:23 am -      #50

“Most of them survive multiple daedric or similar arrows to the face and survive”
gameplay same reason my nord accrobat can have six arrows in his head and keep fighting

  51. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 10:23 am -      #51

Same can be said for most of the enemies in Fable…

  52. Ford Prefect September 27, 2012 at 10:26 am -      #52

    Dwemer robots are ridiculously durable.

  53. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 10:27 am -      #53

difference is im not claiming your average hobb can survive my heros max lvl blade(spell) spam

  54. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 10:29 am -      #54

    “Dwemer robots are ridiculously durable.”
reason to belive this when iron weapons will hutr them

  55. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 10:31 am -      #55

Considering how dangerous and durable the enemies listed are (Trolls regenerate, Atronarchs are made out of elements like fire and the likes, giants, well, they can launch you into orbit with a strike), it is not that farfetched to believe they can withstand that.

  56. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 10:33 am -      #56

    “Trolls regenerate”
    weak to fire and magic
    also regen =/= durability

  57. Ford Prefect September 27, 2012 at 10:33 am -      #57

Gameplay mechanics as dwemer metal is stronger than steel.

  58. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 10:34 am -      #58

“Gameplay mechanics as dwemer metal is stronger than steel”
    proof

  59. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 10:37 am -      #59

And of course the Fable side will know straight away that the Trolls are weak to fire, also, only heroes can use magic as far as I remember, how many heroes are there? one.

  60. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 10:41 am -      #60

exept mercs love fire and use it
    gunpowder too
    -
one alive two if you count reaper

  61. The_Assassin711 September 27, 2012 at 10:45 am -      #61

    This… this thread is horrible… (And I don’t mean the match…)
    -
    -
    “Mine is better!”
    -
    “Nuh uh mine is better!”
    -
    “You can’t prove it!”
    -
    “Can to!”
    -
    “Nuh uh!”
    -
    Yup… real productive debating guys… A+.
*Puts smiley face sticker at the top of paper.*

  62. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 10:47 am -      #62

Alright, you got me with the Mercs.
    -
How do they deal with Dragons, or giants and mammoths…or pretty much the rest of the inhabitants of the Elder scrolls? You have to consider that there are 9 provinces in Tamriel against Albion.

  63. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 10:49 am -      #63

“*Puts smiley face sticker at the top of paper.*”
    omg! a smiley

  64. Type-Fallstar September 27, 2012 at 10:52 am -      #64

take out mamoth and giants at range with guns.
    -
use mortar to take out dragons (atleast temporarily) while it try to recall a way to deal with souls

  65. Amm0vamp1r3 September 27, 2012 at 11:11 am -      #65

Elder Scrolls has the speed and weapons but elder scrolls has the power and possibly numbers.

  66. Amm0vamp1r3 September 27, 2012 at 11:23 am -      #66

Dragon born being very strong isnt as durable as the hero who tanked a bullet as a child and fell from a height that would kill the DB. The Sand furies were faster than anyone in skyrim. the chick who kicks you out of the spire was a low level omniscient well in her universe at least.

  67. Carmine September 27, 2012 at 11:45 am -      #67

Fable stomps with an army that uses master clock work rifles which will shred through armies of Daedra and humanoids, if we include the court,William Black, the Spire …. fable is GOD stomping the Elder Scrolls verse

only the gods can beat the armies of the fable verse, but even than Avo and Skorm are basically the god and devil of Fable so it’s a 50/50 chance here but in terms of ground forces fable wins due to better tech and weapons.

  68. Amm0vamp1r3 September 27, 2012 at 11:47 am -      #68

I dont think its that much of a stomp

  69. Doughiest Treat September 27, 2012 at 11:48 am -      #69

Fable has STD’s. But they also have condoms. Meat is apparently bad for you, though.
    -
    I care not for Skyrim.

  70. Amm0vamp1r3 September 27, 2012 at 11:50 am -      #70

The thing that keeps this fight even is the fact that both verses had immortal children.

  71. Captain Epic September 27, 2012 at 12:04 pm -      #71

Cool match. I’m have never played either game, however I’ll place intial bets on the Fable side. For some of the reasons listed above.

  72. Amm0vamp1r3 September 27, 2012 at 12:11 pm -      #72

On the elder scrolls side in the dawnguard DLC you get a bow that if you shoot the sun with a sun arrow the sun starts shooting flares down to the planet hitting your enemies

  73. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 12:17 pm -      #73

You do realize that the Dragonborn (among other heroes in the Elder Scrolls) is more than enough to take on Fable, right? I mean, look at one of the shouts which is pretty much a thunderstorm, then there’s the fact that he can slow down time, become intangible, freeze people with his shouts, etc.
    -
The greybeards also have years of experience with this shouts and are more than able to utilize them in an offensive way, Jurgen Windcaller which began the Greybeards fought another seventeen tongues (masters of thu’um, guys that instead of siege weapons used their shouts to level castle walls and doors) on his own for three days nonstop and came on top. In fact, the most powerful tongues were often gagged due to their voices being so dangerous.
    -
The might alone of Skyrim seems to be more than enough to actually take on Albion, and that’s just one of the nine provinces of Tamriel. So yes, gunpowder while powerful is still somewhat ineffective considering the superior numbers of the enemy (and superior tactics, seeing how they are constantly at war).

  74. Amm0vamp1r3 September 27, 2012 at 12:25 pm -      #74

Push the dragon born off of a cliff that should stop him. And a bunch or people with gun. balverines , zombies , banshess who summon endless armies of demon kids Sand furries who severily out speed anyone in elder scrolls. That darkness stuff in the 3rd fable

  75. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 12:27 pm -      #75

Hahahaha, and how are you going to push the Dragonborn off of a cliff when he can push anything short of a troll in Fable with his mere voice?
    -
Also, Banshees? pffft, meet Dragon Priests.

  76. Carmine September 27, 2012 at 12:29 pm -      #76

the grey beards and dragon born are useless at long range, reaver head shots all of them before they can utter a syllable
    -
    problem solved :)

  77. Amm0vamp1r3 September 27, 2012 at 12:31 pm -      #77

that was a joke lol and yea dragon priest are something serious.

  78. itisburgers September 27, 2012 at 12:39 pm -      #78

Jack of Blades True form is a dragon he bypasses Alduin’s “only blood of a Dragon” immunity and murks him with his ridiculous sword.

Lost Chapters Hero from the first game can steal souls with a certain sword.

Skyrims Dragons aren’t a problem as Giants wreck them in fights, that said the Giants wreck most Fable ground forces, cept trolls but they are extinct.

Are Jack of Blades big Clockwork minions allowed?

  79. Carmine September 27, 2012 at 12:52 pm -      #79

WE SHOULD NOT use pre fable II era it will be a complete stomp, the Hero Of Oakvale alone can solo Skyrim if we include all heroes and Jack Of The Blades WITH the sword of aeons?
Skyrim gets slaughtered, the hero of oakvale can literally wipe out entire cities of guards if he wanted to, his time manipulation and energy manipulation combined with his super human speed and strength plus equipment is too much for anything short of a god to handle.

  80. o 055 o September 27, 2012 at 12:52 pm -      #80

You do realize we are using latest incarnation, right? (also, only the Dragonborn can defeat Alduin, hence why no other Dragon did fuck to oppose him, save Paarthurnax, and even then he never fought him directly).

  81. Amm0vamp1r3 September 27, 2012 at 12:56 pm -      #81

If this is a universe battle wouldnt it be everyone in said universe?

  82. Carmine September 27, 2012 at 12:57 pm -      #82

Alduin is defeated in Skyrim’s latest incarnation so he’s null
it’s really now Albion’s army v.s a severely weakened Imperial Army followed by the other provinces which are not that strong individually.

  83. Soulerous September 27, 2012 at 1:13 pm -      #83

Fable stomps with an army that uses master clock work rifles which will shred through armies of Daedra
-Daedra are immune to normal weapons.
    ~
Alduin can be defeated by anything he hasn’t survived before. We strive to avoid no-limits fallacies here at Factpile.

  84. itisburgers September 27, 2012 at 1:32 pm -      #84

Is Jack’s mask still floating around Albion? because the wearer becomes possessed by it, Fable could still field Jack.

  85. Carmine September 27, 2012 at 1:33 pm -      #85

“Fable stomps with an army that uses master clock work rifles which will shred through armies of Daedra”
-Daedra are immune to normal weapons.
    -
nlf I’d like to see them survive a blunderbuss blast to the face, besides they can just use silver bullets :P

  86. itisburgers September 27, 2012 at 1:36 pm -      #86

what counts as “normal Weapons”? There are many enchanted weapons in fable.

  87. Slayer Lowk September 27, 2012 at 1:40 pm -      #87

If it weren’t for the ES gods Fable’s military would probably have a pretty easy time. Gun>swords.
I think one of Fable’s Main Hero might be able to take on the Dragonborn.

-I’d prefer to live in fable.
-ES would probably be more fun assuming I could do magic. Also The various sentient species is pretty cool.
-Fable seems closer to becoming modern times.

Fable weapons can be enchanted last I checked.

What does anyone think of Dragonborn vs Fable 2 hero?

Fable two hero has the mobility but Dragonborn has the voice, could be a good fight

Fable 2 hero kills the Dovahkin with a head shot

Silver or enchanted weapons work. Are those rifles enchanted?

What are the most powerful monsters that Fable has?

For Fable Avo and Akorm have been brought up a couple of times, but they don’t really exist. In Fable 2, there is a book that details how their respective temples were merely built at places of particularly powerful magic, light and dark respectively, and the gods were basically made up to attract followers who would add power to those sites.

I know nothing of the elder scrolls universe, but seeing as how albion is looking more and more like our own world with eah game, I’ll guess it’s more likely to actually morph into what looks like our world, and I think I would rather live there, though there would be little real protection if a hero with lax morals arose, even if he was only mediocre in skill.

Currently I have no idea probably the armies of hollow men they have, but pre fable 2 I would says the trolls.

I doubt it they don’t exist, what’s the explanation for the strange voices and people getting levitated as you sacrifice them? or the artifact skorm’s bow, they do exist as their is solid evidence.

Whether Avo and Akorm exist is neither here nor there if they can’t contribute to the fight in any notable way.How strong are the trolls and hollow men? Because daedra can be pretty strong, especially the Daedric Princes.

Hollow men are zombies if i remember and the trolls tank everything unless you hit the tendrils, balverines are basically werewolves,

I know we dislike the show Deadliest Warrior on this site. However they have proven that muskets, flintlock pistols, and blunderbusses are mostly ineffective against iron plate mail which can be equipped by Skyrim forces. The blunderbuss is only effective against the armor at the range of about 10ft. Besides that flintlock weapons are largely inaccurate and ineffective past 75 meters. Meanwhile the English Longbow, being used at a gauge, are good for saturation fire up to 365 meters and accurate enough for consistent single target fire up to 165 meters. So technically the Longbow would outdo the flintlock weaponry especially with the inclusion of plate and scale mail.

Also I just read the stats on Fable pistols. Apparently they are only accurate up to 35 meters the rifle 50 meters. So yeah they are largely irrelevant at long range and will take heavy damage before they can get into range which is roughly 6 times the range of their fire arms. So yeah.

Unless they have cannons with explosive charges in them I’m not seeing a win for Fable. Does Fable have Siege weapons?

Well in fable 2 they had boats with canons but besides that i dont know for sure

I’m talking about mobile cannons that can be used on the battlefield.
