What If…Batman entered the Marvel Universe?

What If...Batman entered the Marvel Universe?

Suggested by Orpheus12

What if Batman (Bruce Wayne) entered the Marvel Universe ?
For this match, we are using the comic book version of Batman.
Would he be invited to join any teams?
Would he be able to handle the same tasks any of the dangers that comes with this universe?
Would Bruce Wayne team up with Tony Stark?
What other implications could arise?

Eh, if he gets all his riches with him he’d probably get himself first a nice big mansion to fit all his toys in.
His next priority would be to scout his surroundings and get to know the weirdos that abound in it. This isn’t hard for him, watching a few news shows and a little snooping around would reveal the identities of many heroes to the Detective.
Of course, meeting with the top executives, Tony Stark among them, would be important, and he will try and get business deals with him. Bruce would probably try and stabilize things first (that is, a solid source of income) before going into vigilante mode.
Once this is set, he should have enough knowledge of the place to conclude that if he were to be Batman once again, he would need new gadgets and tactics…or he could give up being Batman entirely if that Superhero Registration Act is still in place.
If the former, then a lot more research would be needed and Batman would most likely not surface for a year or two after “New Playboy Billionaire Takes The World By Storm” enters the scene. When he does, it’s gonna be a bigger and badder Batman.
If the latter, then Bruce would invest resources on the local heroes to help keep the peace.

If Bat’s wants to go the bigger badder Batman route teaming up with Tony Stark would be a good idea, Tony knows the ins and outs of this hero community is in a similar position as he was (billionaire vigilante amongst god like beings anyway) Of course if this is during the civil war arc he’d probably go to Captain America’s team, or would he agree with registration?

  6. Captain Epic September 15, 2012 at 9:42 am -      #6

Oh man Captain America and Batman fighting on the anti-registration would side together would be awesome.

  7. Captain Epic September 15, 2012 at 9:43 am -      #7

*fighting together on the anti-registration side would be awesome.

  8. GuardianAngel1911 September 15, 2012 at 9:44 am -      #8

He’ll be drawn to either Tony or Cap no matter what just depends on when in continuity it is and what side of a conflict he’d want to be on. Cap and him would be awesome though.

  9. Hermit September 15, 2012 at 9:44 am -      #9

Methinks Batman would take the neutral route and simply disappear completely during the Civil War.
Meanwhile, one side of the war is suddenly getting huge amounts of resources from Wayne Industries.

  10. GuardianAngel1911 September 15, 2012 at 9:45 am -      #10

    @Hermit
    the question is which side?

  11. Hermit September 15, 2012 at 10:00 am -      #11

    @ G.A.
To put it simply, I don’t know. So I left it open-ended.

  12. a.h.k. September 15, 2012 at 10:20 am -      #12

I can picture Marvel writers desperately thinking of a way to let Batman take down Thor.

  13. a.h.k. September 15, 2012 at 10:21 am -      #13

Then he shoots Thanos with a Titan-killing bullet.

  14. Smeagolicious September 15, 2012 at 10:56 am -      #14

For some reason I think Batman would be Pro-Reg.

  15. Shgon Dunstan September 15, 2012 at 11:03 am -      #15

I think he would be anti-Reg, why?
    -
Because he already has a file on everyone, and so he would think that’s enough.

Bruce: to protect my city, I must wear a mask.
Tony: f**k your mask, reveal yourself, it’s a law.
Bruce: I server justice, not some puny law. The mask is a symbol, not a character.
Tony: server my a**. I’m a symbol and a character.
Bruce: *pull out an anti-power armor beam out from his pocket*…
Marvel proudly present, Civil war, part 2

” Would he be invited to join any teams?”

    -

Maybe the Avengers or S.H.I.E.L.D but being Batman, he’d decline membership.

    -

“Would he be able to handle the same tasks any of the dangers that comes with this universe?”

    -

If he’s allowed his prep time and a cave of wonders, yes. Same PIS as always.

    -

“Would Bruce Wayne team up with Tony Stark?”

    -

Rich billionaire playboy philanthropists? Most certainly.

    -

    “What other implications could arise?”

I don’t like Batman. He’s overrated. I’m sure he’ll be best buds with Marvel’s heroes though…or at least the useless ones.
    -
I’d actually pay to see Batman get stuck in mephisto’s realm.

  20. Amm0vamp1r3 September 15, 2012 at 11:54 am -      #20

he would probably join the avengers to fill the void of the justice league

  21. GuardianAngel1911 September 15, 2012 at 12:00 pm -      #21

He might be able to join the Avengers, but I don’t know if he could add too much, the teams have niches and he’s a copy of Iron Man in that he’s a playboy billionaire vigilante, the loner joined up is Spider-Man, Captain America is the symbol what with that shield and all, depending on the day of the week the Avengers can have a dozen people of genius level intellect to prep, between Tony, Spidey, Banner, Ant-Man, Vision, Hawkeyes not a genius but he can prep fairly well and Hawkeye is also the human with cool toys and skills much like Batman. So the better question is what roll can he play in one of the pre standing teams?

  22. Hermit September 15, 2012 at 12:15 pm -      #22

    The Detective?

  23. GuardianAngel1911 September 15, 2012 at 12:17 pm -      #23

    @Hermit
perhaps, just pointing out that in all likely hood he’d have trouble filling a role until he focused on his detective abilities in that case.

  24. jamesisawesome September 15, 2012 at 12:28 pm -      #24

He’ join the Avengers and become its new leader as soon as they realized how amazing he was.

  25. GuardianAngel1911 September 15, 2012 at 12:34 pm -      #25

    @jamesisawesome
yeah, this is how that would go
Batman: I’m Batman I’m the new guy you will obey cause I’m the goddamn Batman.
Banner: that’s it *hulks out* Hulk: HULK SMASH BATMAN!!!!!

  26. Doughiest Treat September 15, 2012 at 12:40 pm -      #26

    Oh please.

  27. Jwlynas September 15, 2012 at 12:45 pm -      #27

It’d be an interesting one for sure.
    -
I can’t see him joining the Avengers. In part because they already have the billionaire playboy philanthropist down pretty well. And in part because, as people have pointed out, he doesn’t really have a role there.
    -
Would be interesting to see him join the X-men in some sort of advisory/finacial aide position. He may not be a mutant, but he’s a huge advocate of basic human rights for all, mutants included, and I think the person best suited to advancing that would be Prof X and his team of lovable mutants with terrible PR. If there’s one person used to dealing with PR nightmares, it’s bruce. A few fundraisers with his style (Huge and showy, but not wholly focused around one man, like stark’s would be) and things could be very different.
    -
As for how well his style of crime-fighting would work… I’m not sure. Batman works best where there’s a weakness to exploit. I’m not sure many of Marvels badguys have a “weakness” so much beyond things most people suffer from. Venom/Carnage aside.

  28. a.h.k. September 15, 2012 at 12:51 pm -      #28

Since unlike in DC most Marvel heroes are useful, he’ll probably finally retire.

  29. Rybiter September 15, 2012 at 1:03 pm -      #29

well I pretty sure Batz with all his money would be able to get his hands on some vibranium or adamantium or any of the other crazy substances that inhabit the marvel universe and prepare himself for all the new foes he might be facing.

  30. ptaine September 15, 2012 at 1:04 pm -      #30

Well, I’ve never read any of the comics of any superhero so I’m not that well acquainted with their personas from there. But I don’t get the feeling that Batman would team up with anyone from Marvel especially Stark. I think it might make a far more interesting story if he actually set up another Wayne Enterprises to challenge Stark Industries (Hermit kind of already suggested as much)

  31. Shgon Dunstan September 15, 2012 at 1:09 pm -      #31

    @a.h.k.
“Since unlike in DC most Marvel heroes are useful, he’ll probably finally retire.”
    -
The problem is that by (non-52)DC standards Marvel heroes are assholes.
    -
Half of them he likely wouldn’t even see as heroes.

  32. Doughiest Treat September 15, 2012 at 1:11 pm -      #32

“set up another Wayne Enterprises to challenge Stark Industries”
    -
Stark would mop his maid’s loo with Batman’s corpse.

  33. Sauroposeidon September 15, 2012 at 1:13 pm -      #33

Every problem in Marvel is quickly solved.

  34. Slayer Lowk September 15, 2012 at 1:32 pm -      #34

All hero vs hero events would immediately stop because Batman can think rationally even when mistaken for a badguy by superman. Also like every other genius with money he’ll probably try to incorporate Stark tech into his armors.
Tony and Bruce team up would be pretty interesting. Also him and black panther have a prep battle to see who can be the most prepared for any situation.

    I think this is relevant
    -
Regardless of civil war he’d probably be more drawn to Captain America then he would Tony Stark. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if after helping the Avengers (which we all know he will at some point) Wayne enterprises enters a partnership or something with Stark Industries to make some kind of super awesome corporation.

    Thanks admin !
I’m sure Batman would make a useful asset in Marvel. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him working with Tony Stark to develop greater gadgets. It would be interesting to see what would happen if Batman joined the Avengers. He would probably attempt to find a weakness for each hero.

  42. BC September 15, 2012 at 5:42 pm -      #42

I have not read much of the comics of either company since they went Iron Age, and even fewer since they hit rust, so my comments may be a little outdated.
    -
In the civil war Batman would never join Stark and his cronies because Batman cares nothing for law, only justice (two very different things all too often), and Starks side is all about law over justice. While Cap and company are seen as rebellious militants and therefore criminals they are also for justice (in this case in retaining rights and dignity that the government wants to take away) over law like Batman is. Of course if Wayne Enterprises did not somehow come over with him then he may have no choice but to sit the war out anyway and try to build up the resources to support his Batman operation.
    -
If it is the movie Marvel world as opposed to the current comic one he might join the avengers, organized under SHIELD the group is less bruiser oriented and actually does do some investigative (or at least intelligence gathering) work. Batman would fit in with Hawkeye and especially Black Widow rather well, and his customized for the particular villain weaponry would come in handy if they know who they are to be fighting ahead of time. Also he may even work well with the movie version of Stark to make gadgets, while movie Tony is as big of an asshole as he is in the comics he is at least an independent minded one with little respect for the law and a strong sense of justice that Bruce can relate to.
    -
As for joining the comics version of the Avengers, unless the team has changed considerably it is still a reaction team kind of like a narrow focus version of SWAT without any detective functions at all. Either SHIELD or someone else points them at an enemy and says Sic’em! Or the enemy comes to them (they act as a kind of honeypot trap, villains attacking the city take them on first so that they will not have the Avengers hitting them in the back while they are doing something else and so then the Avengers take them out before the rest of the city is attacked. Batman is not a heavy combat monster and the comics Avengers have little or no need for a detective so it is unlikely he would join them except maybe as some kind of associate they trade information and other resources with. Come to think of it, unless this has changed since the bronze age there is another reason for him to stay away: the members of the team have to be vetted by the government and some form of biometric identification must be put on file (usually fingerprints and retina scans though in the case of the Captain Marvel that joined they settled for just her retina scan (she refused the fingerprinting because they were already on file with the coast guard and a search would turn up her real identity)) and I do not see the somewhat paranoid Bruce Wayne tolerating that kind of thing.
    -
If the Defenders are still around he could join them, they are (or were) more of a full-service crime fighting team with at least two investigators of different skill levels in it already. Nighthawk used to be a kind of Batman analog in fact, and in the spoof series “The Super Hero Squad Show” Marvel Animation even went so far as to hire Adam West to do Nighthawks voice.
    -
Of course he may just figure the current Marvel world too screwed up to bother with and do nothing except try to find a way back home.

I believe the first thing he’ll say to anyone is “my parents are deaddddd” or “I’m BATMAN!!”
And then he’d join forces with MoonKnight because well, u know.
He wouldn’t join any teams because even on justice league, he’s still a loner. He was also the team’s main source of intel. Marvel’s intel is SHIELD. The super spy headquarters. They don’t need a guy dressed like a bat. I’m almost positive batman would get along with absolutely no one in the marvel universe because of his own ideas on justice and law and blah blah blah. Not to mention, the second he sees someone killing a bad guy hell freak out and either run away or scream at the dude that killed the dude. “morals this, and morals that!!! IM BATMAN!!”
Nobody would like him, except maybe spiderman:).
His business would FAIL utterly with competitors like stark and hammer. Come on, what exactly does wayne enterprises do? Secretly make batmans gadgets and military gadgets that get rejected?
Oh yeah and another thing, what are his batarangs gonna do against marvel villains? Tickle them? Maybe he can take down street thugs and bank robbers. Hell, the Adam west batman would probsnly be better. He could anti (insert hero/villain name here) spray his enemies. Maybe Nightwing would be better in marvel. I can see him getting along with marvel heroes. Oh and u can bet that bats will most likely try and stop all the vigilantes like wolverine and punishr. I see deadpool also killing him.

Ultimately though, I believe bats wod just work on finding a way home.

I love you batman:)–no hard feelings?

  46. Slayer Lowk September 15, 2012 at 6:46 pm -      #46

“Come on, what exactly does wayne enterprises do? Secretly make batmans gadgets and military gadgets that get rejected?”
    -
Essentially the same thing Stark does. Advancements in technology, medical research, involves itself in various businesses+charities, if he’s not worried about the shit hole that his Gotham he could focus on building up other cities or rebuilding damage done by superheroes, stuff like that.
He also recently started up a sort of peacekeeping force known as Batman incorporated. Think it sort of like a private security/military force with Bruce funding and “batman” leading it.
    ===
“Oh yeah and another thing, what are his batarangs gonna do against marvel villains? Tickle them?”
    -
Batarangs in addition to being capable of cutting(like through a skull) come in a variety of flavors ranging from burning, electrocuting, gas, etc to out right explosive? He should be fine with the regular superpowered villains. Anything more would probably require some higher offensive weaponry.
    ===
“Oh and u can bet that bats will most likely try and stop all the vigilantes like wolverine and punishr.”
    -
Meh, he no longer tries to catch Jason and he works with Aquaman and wonder woman. They’d probably at least respect him enough not to kill in front of him like they sometimes do for Spiderman. Oh, forgot about Spidy; they probably get along well together. If he didn’t have a job Bats would have probably hired him. Actually the place Parker currently works would probably be of interest to Wayne.

  47. The Pro September 15, 2012 at 6:52 pm -      #47

He would still job as much as he does in the DC universe.

  48. Slayer Lowk September 15, 2012 at 6:57 pm -      #48

“He wouldn’t join any teams because even on justice league, he’s still a loner.”
    -
He not so much a loner anymore. He works with Batman incorporated which has various heroes like Batwing. His works with his son, the past Robins, batgirl, and batwoman. He also worked with/funded Justice League International. Also Superman but I think he’s currently doing that to keep an eye on him as a precaution.

  50. knightbreaker117 September 15, 2012 at 7:41 pm -      #50

  51. Tails111 September 15, 2012 at 7:52 pm -      #51

Without Superman to bail him out, he’d be in big trouble.

If he plays nice with the various Marvel heroes, he’ll be okay.

If he tries something funny, the Avengers or Fantastic Four would be on him like dogs.

  52. Captain Epic September 15, 2012 at 8:19 pm -      #52

I’d say the Avengers or S.H.E.I.L.D. would be there first, FF are more of an exploration team IMO.

He’d give reed and stark a run for their money in the intellect/money categories., But he’d better keep a low profile. a seemingly friendly/defenseless billionaire playboy sounds like a prime target for a super villain right off the “bat”(sorry about that one but I like these puns). Anyway he’ll have to reverse engineer Tony’s gear and …….Or just buy out stark enterprises(he should be rich enough)….Man I wounder what stark’s reaction would be to that…

You don’t give Batman enough credit, at least not the comic book batman. His deduction skills, and training are enough to put him in league with the likes of Captain America, if not, slightly more so.

  61. Alpha or Omega September 15, 2012 at 9:55 pm -      #61

I think this is how it goes. Tell me if I’m wrong, but I assume Batman is given help and shelter from the Avengers, or some other super hero team.
Upon the Marvel Universe, he would beat up villains that are on his level and go on a massive research on a few villains above his league. He would probably try to replace some of his standard gadgets with Spider-Man’s web-shooters and Iron-Man’s repulsor rays. He might go after the crime lords rather than some evil cosmic entity most of the time, but he will help defend earth as a big brain from the likes of skrulls or other invaders. Though I’m not sure what he would do during major events like civil war, secret invasion, fear itself, or Avengers vs X-Men

  62. Rhododendron September 15, 2012 at 9:56 pm -      #62

    -
Well 1. Don’t think stark enterprise exist anymore. It’s called resilient IIRC.
    2. Pepper for right now owns the company and the rights to Ironman so she’d probably be upset if that happened. Tony would then start a new Company like usual.

Good question. the closest i can think of is doom but hed be far more predictable. Does batman just get his money along with him or is this composite bats?

  70. the 198 September 15, 2012 at 10:18 pm -      #70

How smart is Bruce anyway? Is he as smart as Pym or stark or is he as smart as Dr.Doom?

  71. glacier September 15, 2012 at 10:24 pm -      #71

I always saw Bruce as more of a business savvy character than anything else. I know he’s a master of the human psyche and a great detective and strategist but when is he ever seen as really an intellectual?

  72. the 198 September 15, 2012 at 10:27 pm -      #72

That’s why I want to know lol they’re saying that he’s as smart as reed and I know that Richards is like the 2nd smartest in the marvel world

  74. glacier September 15, 2012 at 10:38 pm -      #74

He can’t be as smart as Richards. I just wouldn’t believe it if he was. Rees Richards is smarter than the smartest super mega ultra genius ever.

“Definitely not Reed, that guys standard prep is worth 10x what batprep is worth.”

Noooope. Black Panther is the richest. He rules the country where adamantium is found. The ONLY place adamantium is found. Stark is richer than Batman I think.

Seem fine. If he could get a hold of spider’s web formula he might use it to replace his grapple.

“Is there anyone that can fill Bats “need” for the joker”

Nope. Punisher would’ve probably killed’em…. Maybe Osborn but that’s spiders villain.

Reed made a pocket universe to act as a safe, has a gun made for shooting through impenetrable shells/harming celestials, and cosmic cubes. Well no, the cubes were more like he made them and he has them around just incase.

I think comic versions would closer in worth then the movie versions.

Nuh uh! that dragon from the hobit supposedly has a net worth of treasure equaling 62 billion.(I did a bit of research) . Unless of course you can find a trillionain fictional character. Which I shall make right now:his name is john ,networth:3.2 trillion . How he acquired such money:global bet on something ridiculously impossible + being one of the many outcomes in the multiverse Jonh’s from.

What about how batman had a way to beat everyone from the justice leauge(supes was easy but aquaman, wounder woman, flash and martain manhunter’s were ingenious ) ,render darkseid mortal etc?

  80. The Geek Lord September 16, 2012 at 12:27 pm -      #81

He’d join the Thunderbolts or X-Force and routinely beat the shit out of Punisher.

  81. The Geek Lord September 16, 2012 at 12:28 pm -      #82

And Black Panther destroyed all the vibranium in his country so….

  82. glacier September 16, 2012 at 12:47 pm -      #83

No one thinks he’d just be like “this universe is too realistic and relatable! Ahhhh!!”
And work Dat and night to just get home where he’s overpowered and can get outta any ditch with a gadget on his belt?

  83. Tarbel September 17, 2012 at 12:18 am -      #84

Batman will kick the Hulk in his solar-plexus causing him to inhale knockout gas which knocks the Hulk out.
Cause that can happen and is not total bullshit from a crossover comic.

  84. Envoy September 17, 2012 at 12:33 am -      #85

    Bat-Spider-Repellent anyone?

  85. Marcel September 17, 2012 at 12:39 am -      #86

He would fight Osbourne…and get smoked

Yes, I already knew about that. And this article says that a mostly-diamond planet happened to form from a neutron star and a white dwarf. So…
    ~
I repeat: Stars do not turn into diamonds upon death.

  91. Rhododendron September 17, 2012 at 2:48 am -      #92

Mejh i read a few white dwarf turn into daimond. could be wrong though. If iI am I have a backup argument: Take out land claim on a simular diamond “planet” discovermagazine.com/2007/jul/location-location-location =lol

  92. Rhododendron September 17, 2012 at 3:18 am -      #93

Any one wanna tell me how we’re “the 10%”? I mean their are 7 billion + people and I’m assuming the max number of “factpilers”(still on site or otherwise) is bellow 300.

  93. I-REAPER-I September 17, 2012 at 12:14 pm -      #94

    @Rhodo
It’s not meant to be literal. I think it’s kind of like “We are the 1%”. Except different.

  94. Rhododendron September 17, 2012 at 9:10 pm -      #95

    @I-REAPER-I
Eh I just wanted to know what statistic we were talking about for that percentage. Pfft Batmans the 1% www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yjI5238Zxc

What if…goku entered the marvel universe?

  96. Soulerous September 18, 2012 at 4:37 pm -      #97

Goku could become a valuable member of the Avengers. Or Galactus would find him and make him his herald.

“but if goku were to some how die, he would stay dead”

Only people who seem to stay dead in marvel are friends/family of Peter Parker.
