A REAL Amazing Spiderman Review

SPOILER ALERT

If you haven’t seen the movie I suggest you go see it and then read the Admin’s rant and then read my real good review.

Last week the Admin told me I should read his Spiderman Review and that he went to the movie and almost feel asleep and that he hated it. So I said ok I am going to see the movie on Saturday then I’ll read your review. So I went and saw the movie and then came home and read the Admin’s review of the movie. To my surprise this wasn’t even a review of the movie. It was just him ranting on about how he hated the film. Because Peter Parker prefers to use Bing instead of Google and how he knew how the movie was going to end because it was the same origin story. So after reading this I just felt like this was just a really poor representation of the movie and I decided to write my own review not only from a Spiderman fan perspective but from multiple points of view and then just tie in my general opinion of the movie.

First off of course you know how the movie is going to end because you saw the original Spiderman movie like 10 years ago. Also how does an iconic super hero’s origin story change much? I mean there are always multiple comic variations with a lot of these things. But if you’re making a true Spiderman movie you have to stick with the original story. The problem is the movie everyone saw 10 years ago and in fact all three original movies were so poorly done with keeping with the actual real Spiderman origins that it wasn’t good. It was good in the sense that YES we finally got a Spiderman movie but it just wasn’t how the story should have gone…. Let me explain.

Mary Jane wasn’t Peter’s first Love; he wasn’t in love with her since he was a kid. Green Goblin wasn’t his first major villain; he wasn’t best friends with Harry Osborn in High School. Peter didn’t have any friends actually. Peter wasn’t looking for a career in photography; he wanted to be a scientist. Dr. Connors wasn’t his Professor in College. The Sandman wasn’t Uncle Ben’s killer; Eddie Brock wasn’t some whinny brat, who dated Gwen Stacy. Venom didn’t say “I” and “me”, he spoke in plural. Gwen Stacy wasn’t just some girl in Peter’s college class who he ends up dating just to get back at Mary Jane(A total disrespect for a major character who was a big part of Peter’s life and whose death, holds great significance).

Those are just some of the things the first set of movies had completely wrong!!! So anyone who thinks that this new amazing Spiderman movie was just a retelling of the same story we already saw was an idiot.

So before I give my actual opinion on the movie let’s go and review some of the comments the admin made last week in his rant:
“Too bad the story felt bloated and forced, and the worst part was, the villain was just flat out BORING.”

The villain isn’t mean to be the main focal point of an origin movie he is meant to create a reason for our hero to become who he is to the point that are there. You typically don’t want the villain to steal all the spot light of the film that is creating the hero. Just look at Batman Begins. Batman Begins told the exact same story everyone knows about Batman. Ra’s al ghul was simply part of the story to help push batman to become the man who protects the city. It was the same origin story I already knew but it helped establish a brand new world on film for Batman for everyone to enjoy. Enhance we got in the second movie the Joker an A amazing film based on that world. Even the first Lord of the Rings wasn’t crazy exciting but it just sort of established everything for the next two films. So when I look at the first movie in a new film franchise I mostly look at how well the world was established. I must say that seeing the Lizard come to life was done well. It wasn’t done great but a villain of that type is very hard to pull off in a movie. Plus nothing about this was forced. I thought it was done well for the time limitation they were stuck with for pulling off the movie and telling a origin story at the same time.

Next Admin comment:
“Of course, we also have to watch as he learns how to use his powers. SNORE.”

Well let’s see this is because lots of young kids might not have see Spiderman before so you have to educate them on what’s happening for the future fan base. Not everything is about you and your generation. Plus this helped establish his limitations and how he uses the web shooters and I thought they did a better job of showing how he becomes Spiderman in a more real sense.

Next Admin stupid comment
“That told me that he was a friggin lucky dipshit with powers – (Oh, by the way, apparently, anyone can get them, just get bitten by a special spider) LAME.”

Uh no if you were following the film at all you would have realized that his dad was doing certain things and that the combination of that plus the spider bite lead to the results. I know this bit of information wasn’t translated well in the film but I believe in the next movie they might dive deeper into this. Plus this is the way Spiderman got his powers. If I remember correctly from the comics they even try to recreate Spiderman and cannot. I may be wrong here but it’s been awhile plus I haven’t read every single Spiderman comic. But with this statement you could pretty much say the same thing for any super hero and then same lame after it.

Admin comment:
“And then all the lizards (IN NEW YORK FUCKING CITY, since you know, it’s like Florida where Geckos run everywhere.) I’ve been to NYC over a dozen times in my life, during the summer and have yet to see a GODAMN FUCKING LIZARD.
Oh, and those lizards that Peter saw? OF COURSE they crawl towards the sewer (Which is where this movie belongs) AMAZING! Shouldn’t BING have told him that?”

FACEPALM… The lizards were obviously attracted to the giant lizard in New York so they went there.

Admin comment:
“I already know that Dark Knight Rises will be better, and that’s just from watching the trailers.”

This statement tells me clearly you should step away from writing movie reviews.

Anyways now that I’ve covered those comments let me go into a good review of this movie. This new movie does well at retelling a more accurate Spiderman origin story then the original. It has great actors and is directed very well. Andrew Garfield as peter parker just works because he is believable as a very smart kid and also it was nice to see they brought in the comments Peter Parker would make mostly in his thoughts in the comics. The movie also does a good job of establishing a more realistic world that Spiderman is a part of and has a darker side to it. It also does a better job of making Peter Parker become Spiderman through not only his Parents leaving him but they way in which they did his uncle Bens Death.

The action sequences are top notch for a summer blockbuster and so is the 3D. If you don’t care much for the big screen but want to see this movie it probably wouldn’t hurt for you to watch it on DVD. This movie is mostly about recreating a more accurate story and also setting things up for the franchise for future movies.

I expect a big payoff for the next few movies they will do and based on this new direction for the franchise and I think that’s pretty exciting. I am really hoping for Kingpin and maybe even the seeing the sinister six in future movies plus an accurate version of venom and carnage… For all those who say it’s the same story… Well it is in a sense but done better. Plus all of those same people will be crying when they reboot Batman in 5 years saying how it’s the origin story again… Yes they could have just started the movie out with Spiderman already being there. But there were just too many things that needed to be retold in a more correct sense that they had to retell the origin story. If they would not have done so people would had tried to tie it in with the original movies done several years ago. I think the biggest problem this new Spiderman Franchise surfers from with this first movie is it is only 5 years removed from the last group of movies.
So yes, I really enjoyed “The Amazing Spider-Man” the essence of its title hero and the young man behind the mask in that it simply strives to do good. Much like Peter Parker, this movie isn’t perfect but it sure does try. And like Spider-Man, it takes its lumps but ultimately comes out on top. We may not have asked for it, but have faith that this new Spider-Man franchise is in very great hands.

I give this movie a 7/10. As I am pretty harsh when it comes to my ratings even though I enjoyed the movie I would have liked to have seen Spiderman and the city come a bit closer to death and destruction. I would have also liked to have seen the city still a bit more against Spiderman even at the end of the movie. I think when a world is against a guy who is just trying to do good things and he still does it. That really helps create some pretty awesome situations and obstacles.
I also just set the standard for movie reviews here on Factpile. Please Admin if you are going to write a review to a movie it would be best that you give a more detailed explanation and just don’t base things on your own hating of characters. Yes I like Spiderman but I also like Green Lantern and was very disappointed with how they did the Green Lantern. If this Spiderman movie would have went worst off track then the ones they started to do 10 years ago I would have been all over it. But they put this franchise back on track and back on track probably then it ever was before.

In all fairness… That is true.

I don’t blame Admin for being mad at Spiderman using Bing instead of Google. I almost yelled out in the theater “Who uses Bing?”, but, my girlfriend was there, and there were children already annoying the crap out of everyone.

    Anyway, great, in depth review.

    Good job.

I have to admit you did a good job of covering what Spiderman had to offer.

Not gonna lie, this review totally shits all over admin’s “review”.

    Very good review.

Good review. Few grammatical and spelling errors, but it’s good nonetheless.

Meh, I still like the older, not saying the new one was bad though, just my personal taste, the older one felt like a new take on the series, but the new one is not bad either.

Great to finally hear a review from a spidey faithful who knows what he’s talking about. The admin review almost made me puke. Great review and I totally agree. Something I didn’t like about this movie was the stuff they cut. Ex: Connors’ family who they cast and filmed but then cut completely. And they never went into spideys dark past like they showed in trailers. They cut a lot.
But still great movie. Great review. End.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. HOW DO YOU LIKE TO F**K UP THE ADMIN DON’T YOU “EXPERT”

This was a pretty good review, Admin. I still don’t believe that first review was you. Admin is always the even-handed one, while Expert is bombastic and extreme. Even look at the banner. It has the superior quality of an experienced banner-maker. This is the sort of thing I would expect from two friends. You switch personas and then see what comes from it. This has to be Admin, while the last one was Expert.

” This is the sort of thing I would expect from two friends. You switch personas and then see what comes from it. This has to be Admin, while the last one was Expert.”

    …wouldn’t that be interesting? :-P

    I think the real question would be;

“Expert, what the hell are you doing writing reviews when you should be at Comicon working your ass to the bone to promote our fine and charming selves”

    Just a thought.

And yeah, it will be curious to see if Admin and Expert have switched bodies…

  15. Aelfinn July 12, 2012 at 11:45 pm -      #15

    “…wouldn’t that be interesting?”

    HaHA! I was right!

Or at least I will say I am.

Overall, I thought it was far superior to the previous series.

Nice. I loved the first Spider-Man movies. But I admit that the admin review was just pure rant and whine and complaints about the sewers. This review is more intelligently written. ;’p

  18. Expert July 15, 2012 at 2:55 pm -      #18

The Admin just doesn’t like certain things and then it shows in his reviews. This review was all me and the other review as all him. If I’m going to bash something I would clearly do it in a completely different way and not spaz out over fucking Google and Bing. Either way. Thank you everyone for the good feedback and perhaps I will write more reviews in the future.

  19. Expert July 15, 2012 at 2:57 pm -      #19

Also I made this banner because I am a designer. I am not really a writer. That is why I have grammatical errors in post at times because I don’t care about writing but like to give my opinion on certain things I care about or believe someone else got all wrong.

  20. Aelfinn July 15, 2012 at 4:07 pm -      #20

I know this review wasn’t you, Expert. The timeline makes more sense if you and Admin switched personas. Not to mention that I have never seen Admin write like “he” did during that review.

  21. Negative Zero July 15, 2012 at 6:02 pm -      #21

“Not to mention that I have never seen Admin write like “he” did during that review.”
    It was clearly the nerdrage.

@Aelfinn. I swear 100% on my life and my kids life this review was me. an the other was the Admin. The Admin doesn’t like certain things and its shows.. He isn’t really a Spiderman fan. Why the fuck would I switch with him for? He is my friend but he runs the site mostly and post shit. I only posted my review here because I was soo pissed off over his stupid review and calling Spiderman boring. So you can think whatever you’d like but I clearly know the truth.

Is Expert a persona of admin?
