Fourth of July - 2012

Celebrating to all those who have served, where the idea of America continues to live on because of them.

Thank you.

I heard they wanted to put a ban on fireworks though.

    ^
Yup, I heard the same thing, no fireworks this year :(

Whoever made that law hates America.
    -
We got an America hater on our hands somewhere.

They banned fireworks?! I’ve seen at least 5 displays in the past month.

  5. Ruliya July 4, 2012 at 10:21 am -      #5

    Probably those damned Commies!

  6. Krazycrismore July 4, 2012 at 10:33 am -      #6

Or maybe it has to do with how little rain we have been getting. With everything being dry and at a high risk of fire, fireworks would be very dangerous. At least that is why there aren’t going to be any displays around where I live.

  7. Eric Gigliotti July 4, 2012 at 10:44 am -      #7

Yeah, I know a guy who threw a firecracker in a ditch and ended up setting half his property on fire. The conditions are really bad for fireworks at the moment – which is why the Colorado wildfires have hit over 17,000 acres.

  8. TheSorrow July 4, 2012 at 11:31 am -      #8

That’s always the reason for the ban on fireworks. Too dry, no fireworks for you.

  9. itcheyness July 4, 2012 at 11:40 am -      #9

I’m very glad they shoot ours off over water, they haven’t ever had to cancel them because it’s too dry.

    @Mad-Eye

Hopefully speaking they didn’t do an outright ban on fireworks where I live, otherwise we’d have problems on our hands.
    Happy 4th of July everyone!

I normally try not to out right promote breaking the law (here, anyways, because it’s admin’s respectable website and all).. but seriously, fuck the law in this case. Get your fire works. Set them off. Yeah, it’s dangerous, but you know the risk. Don’t let some nanny hold-your-hand law keep you from enjoying your 4th of July if that’s how you want to celebrate it, so long as you understand and accept whatever the current risks are. Although this year I’ll be going to a display at the river.. because frankly, professionals can set off a bigger boom than the “at-the-legal-limit” mortars you can pick up at any dealer.

    .
Or you can go to Indiana.

The past week, my whole neighborhood has sounded like a warzone from all the people setting off fireworks and the police helicopters being called out to get them. Some arrests were given last night, actually.

I mean, would it kill it to be on a Friday or Monday

Waldo fire (worst fire in Colorado History) burning, 14 out of 16 counties declaring Critical Level drought and above, Pine Beetles creating vast swathes of dead and very flammable trees, extreme isolation of some towns-Yes, there is a very good reason they’re controlling firework usage in my state.

@CC: Kinda weird. As I was reading your post, as soon as I read “4th of July”, the announcer at Wimbledon said that, too. Happy 4th everyone! Anyone celebrating the 14th?

  27. Commander Cross July 4, 2012 at 9:55 pm -      #27

  28. Turtle Commando July 4, 2012 at 10:04 pm -      #28

NO fireworks for meh…. *sadface* but whatever I had my fill when I lived in Las Vegas and Naples, Italy. Trust me Napels italy has the craziest fireworks every New Year and Las Vegas is quite high budget.

  29. Commander Cross July 4, 2012 at 10:20 pm -      #29

  31. Commander Cross July 4, 2012 at 10:25 pm -      #31

    Where do you live?
I live north of California, actually.

Just be glad I’m no longer so psuedo-eager to repress my emotions is all, that’s actually a bad thing if I try to do that.

  32. Alpha or Omega July 4, 2012 at 10:26 pm -      #32

I’m sad, there was no fireworks in my location…….

  33. Commander Cross July 4, 2012 at 10:28 pm -      #33

I’m sadder, its too bright for fireworks. T_T

  34. Turtle Commando July 4, 2012 at 10:47 pm -      #34

I thought you guys knew…I have certainly said it enough. I live in Texas. Just outside of Dallas/Fort Worth.

  35. Eric Gigliotti July 4, 2012 at 11:20 pm -      #35

Fireworks are going off like crazy here – even m-80′s too!

  36. tau43 July 5, 2012 at 1:36 am -      #36

I decided to see what would happen when you shoot and M-80 into the air like a firework. Turned out surprisingly well.
