    Im gonna have to go with Mal on this one … He has more combat experience being in the Independents army during the Unification War against the Alliance … and I think more cunning overall … While Max is/was a cop and well versed in marksmanship … Mal should still have this

  2. the 198 June 8, 2012 at 2:52 pm -      #2

    Max is a bullet timer though

  3. Skalkorik13 June 8, 2012 at 3:04 pm -      #3

    Max is not a bullet timer … The bullet time is a gameplay mechanic that slowed you down as well as everything else for dramatic cinematics in game … Max is a normal guy as stated in the match summary

    Both have uncanny accuarcy, in Serenity Mal was able to shoot the cable holding that freeing his teamate from the Reapers. I will be back with feats for Max Payne.

  5. Captain Epic June 8, 2012 at 4:11 pm -      #5

    Very good accuarcy feat for Payne at the twelve minute mark:

  6. Skalkorik13 June 8, 2012 at 5:08 pm -      #6

    Yeah … thats a pretty good feat for Max … Now … In the second episode of Serenity , Mals is casually walking towards Serenity as the hatch opens he sees River being held hostage with a gun to her head by a fed … without stopping he draws , fires and kills the fed … Max had the element of surprise and distraction … The fed knew Mal was walking towards hims … saw him and still couldnt react quick enough

    This match is going to get like 11 comments… Anyways I will go find a video of a Max Payne where he shoots anti-aircraft missles coming at a helicopter. While he is hanging in an akward person. I think Malcolm might have Max Payne beat in Hand-to-hand. But Max Payne is no slouch in close quarters combat. I’ll find a feat of that too.

    Bad suggestion…

  9. Skalkorik13 June 8, 2012 at 8:12 pm -      #9

    Actually i find it a very good suggestion … then again im no one lol … its just 2 normal guys going at it with guns … no super powers or weapons …. a real debate vs “OMG he speed blitz” … “no he omnipotent” … “well he a planet buster” etc …. As for the match … H2H Mal def has this id say … Gunfight it seems whoever encounters who first … I do think Mal still has the uppers hand based of his military background and cunningness

    Well I really appreciate it. Not alot of people on this site enjoy debating two normal guys with guns. I found a H2H feat for Max Payne which is pretty impressive, not Reynolds level though. Be right back.

    If its a gunfight, it might depend on who finds who, first.

  12. Captain Epic June 8, 2012 at 10:47 pm -      #12

    Skip to 25:20 for the H2H feat:

    “If its a gunfight, it might depend on who finds who, first.”
    Very true, but neither is a master of stealth.

  13. Commander Cross June 8, 2012 at 11:19 pm -      #13

    @Captain

    Truer still on that.
    Do they have stealth feats, just in case?
    Or even any stealth records at all, for that matter?

  14. Skalkorik13 June 9, 2012 at 12:22 am -      #14

    Hey CC welcome to the debate lol … and Epic … we made it past 11 lol … As for stealth … With his military background im sure Mal has had training in ambush tactics ,stealth and covert ops … Tho Max is a top cop … Im sure hes not use to an urban warfare setting that Mal would be use to … As for H2H if youve seen the movie his feats at the final battle speak loads for his skills

  15. Commander Cross June 9, 2012 at 12:40 am -      #15

    @Skalkorik

    Enough with speedblitzing already, they got old after a while.

  16. Captain Epic June 9, 2012 at 9:46 am -      #16

    “@Skalkorik
    Enough with speedblitzing already, they got old after a while.”

    What?

    Yeah I was actually going to talk about when Mal fought the Operative. The Operative was extremely well-trained and Malcolm was able to take him out. Only reason I shared the Max Payne feat was to show he is competent in hand-to-hand combat.

  17. Commander Cross June 9, 2012 at 6:47 pm -      #17

    So do they know how to operate with sniper rifles?

  18. Captain Epic June 9, 2012 at 7:17 pm -      #18

    “So do they know how to operate with sniper rifles?”
    I know Max Payne can. And given Mal’s military training, I’m sure he can too.

  19. Skalkorik13 June 9, 2012 at 8:10 pm -      #19

    Im sure theyre both proficient with a sniper rifle but its neither of their standard equipment … Like I said earlier … The main reason i think Mal would have the upper hand is his cunning … Hes not so proud as to not “cheat” to beat the odds into his favor

  20. BC June 10, 2012 at 3:42 am -      #20

    I think Mal would take this one. He is extremely proficient with weapons ranging from pistols all the way up to artillery, he has extensive hand to hand and close quarters fighting experience, and he does not hesitate where a cop, even Payne, might.
    -
    Another factor is the pistols. Paynes Beretta 9mm is a decent police piece for close range use with occasional longer shots, but Mals Liberty Hammer is purposely designed for fast draw and fire action and the higher velocity produced by the caseless hybrid gauss system means a flatter trajectory making accurate shots easier. It also seems to hit harder than a 9mm, not only killing in one shot where Paynes pistol usually takes several hits to do the job, but also the Liberty Hammer is powerful enough to kill small vehicles the way a .44 magnum or .454 does today.

    “… Hes not so proud as to not “cheat” to beat the odds into his favor”
    Niether are really “clean” fighters.

  22. Commander Cross June 10, 2012 at 12:00 pm -      #22

    @Captain

    You got more to add to this, so far?

  23. mrswinchester24 June 10, 2012 at 3:03 pm -      #23

    Mal shot The Operative, even though the Operative got the change to draw first. That’s how quick Captain Mal is. I don’t have a video but I know this happened in the movie Serenity.

  24. Commander Cross June 10, 2012 at 3:05 pm -      #24

    @Winchester

    How long has it been since you got back in here last time?

  25. Captain Epic June 10, 2012 at 4:10 pm -      #25

    “Mal shot The Operative, even though the Operative got the change to draw first. That’s how quick Captain Mal is. I don’t have a video but I know this happened in the movie Serenity.”
    Are you talking about the part of the movie when Reynolds visited Inara Serra? The Operative wasn’t even armed. Or expecting to be shot at. Does anyone have more information on Mal’s gun? What is the RoF on it?

  26. BC June 10, 2012 at 5:21 pm -      #26

    Rate of fire for the Liberty seems to be as fast as one can pull the trigger.
    -
    Oddly enough there seems to be a fully mechanical backup engaged by pulling the hammer back by hand, when it is used the pistol just goes ‘bang’ without the electronic yelp that usually accompanies normal firing. It is possible that it is just using the chemical propellent without the gauss acceleration or something along those lines. That mode seems to be a slower ‘single action’ rate of fire with the traditional old west thumb cocking motion. I am not sure why they do that sometimes unless maybe to save battery power for when they really need it (though I suppose it could also be to give their wrists a rest from the pounding of full power shot recoil).

  27. MaxTheUsurper June 13, 2012 at 12:48 am -      #27

    Malcolm Reynolds totally… i mean he gets his ear chopped off and fights back and wins. plus he is extremely entertaining.

  28. Captain Epic June 14, 2012 at 12:11 am -      #28

    And Max Payne gets shot in the arm, and proceeds to go through a ton of armed enemies.

  29. Nomad January 25, 2013 at 4:05 pm -      #29

    But that kind of pails in comparison to getting shot in the back and stabbed in the stomach. Then beating a trained Operative. Mal also has a faster reaction time.

  30. ReDruM April 10, 2013 at 3:32 pm -      #30

    I’m going with Max. His reaction speed is fast enough to shoot rockets out of the air with handguns and he solos both paramilitaries and Sao Paulo Police Force head on.

  31. Nomad April 29, 2013 at 7:27 pm -      #31

    Yeah Max is not one to be trifled with. Shame this match didn’t get more attention.

  32. Amm0vamp1r3 April 29, 2013 at 7:30 pm -      #32

    Yea Ill go with Max on this one also
    -
