Steel, one of the four Superman Replacements, makes his first debut for the DC Universe. In their continuing feud with Marvel, he takes on War Machine, who is basically Ironman with more guns and less of a drinking problem. They’re both similar as they are two guys in power armor who are basically a spinoff of the original hero. But Steel (if this is Pre-New 52 Steel unless Kiva specifies) is a guy who likes to use hammers. War Machine is a small military in a compact package.
Can Steel put a dent in War Machine? Or will Rhodey mess up Steel more than Shaq?
If he’s a Superman character, im going with Steel for now

I don’t know the upper feats for either of these guys, but I always kind of liked them. This looks like it should be a good match and fun to watch.. and that’s all I have to add.

The War Machine suit has better defense, as well as offense, since it’s stated that Higher caliber weapons can harm Steel.
Steel’s only listed weapons are his Rivet cannon and his hammer, while his hammer is while formidable (especially when thrown) I don’t see how Rhodey couldn’t dodge it, although, the hammer does have a built in EMP function, that could be very dangerous the longer this fight is drawn out…

Also, I agree with Atma’s prediction of how the battle will play out.
Tough call. If Steel can close in with his hammer, he wins, however The Steel armor surprisingly enough is not immune to EMPs, which repulsor blasts in a way are. I’m gonna have to bank on Rhodey for this one. He may not be a scientist like Irons, but when one powered suit has guns and the other has a hammer, it’s kind of a no-brainer that the one with guns will inevitably win.
Anyone else having an issue where they can’t post? (If this actually goes up on site, forgive me, I’ve tried like 5 times to post the links of the abilities of Steel and Rhodey, it just doesn’t seem to go up
. I click post comment, it waits a few seconds then refreshes, and I’m back to the thread as if I never typed anything in the first place, so irritating!)
Last I checked Tony added Ghost tec (intagibility and invisibility) to War Machine. Phasing is a pretty decent.
A recent issue shows he still has the ghost tech(conveniently illustrated by “boo!”)

War Machine wins, Steel needs to count his lucky stars he’s not going up against Tony. War Machine will just beat the crap out of him and blow him up. Tony would hack the armor and make Steel bitch slap himself.
While I admit I don’t know anything about Steel, I did do a little reading and that hammer is far more destructive than people seem to think. It’s big power isn’t the EMP generation but the fact that the further it goes the more kinetic energy is exerted when it strikes. So like at 20 yards it has the force to flip over a car, 30 a truck, 60 yards a tank, and beyond that it would be like getting smacked by Superman. The trouble is so far the only info I have found on it comes from the DC comic database which is just in my opinion a incredibly well done wiki. It can also store any of the kinetic energy for use when not getting hurled.

Also his armor is able to hold up against attacks from the likes of Metallo and Cyborg Superman. actually does have counter hacking and EMP functions (essentially if either happen the suit’s computer shuts down for 30 seconds and reboots, in which case it kicks back on. During that time though he still retains full motor functions.)

I am not familiar with Steel, but it seems that with the strength feat, War Machine’s gettin messed up unless he uses some über Stark tech that I, as of yet, do not know of.

So in addition to phase or invisibility he also get some holographic tech. Which has been used to make things like false copies of the avengers and such.

Yeah, you’d need to be going 11km/s at least, which is somewhere around 25,000 mph. Pretty fast :p

Hey what armor version does war machine have and I know its a version of iron man but its been updated a few time now
I believe he is using Model 12, or JRXL-1000, which is shown in the link I provided on post #7.
thats a shame, the 2.0 armor was boss. well if we go with IM 2.0 armor, i give it to Rhodes just because he can phase and be effectively immune to all physical attacks whenever he needs to be. If in another armor without this ability, i dont know enough about steel to say.

after doomsday killed superman
steel fought another of the superman copycats in the form of the eradicator. steels armor was easily taking full on laser blasts from the eradicator and managed to put the eradicator down hard causing the eradicator to retreat back to the fortress of solitude to reenergize hisself.

Half the evidence is unusable due to New52.
One top of that Warmachine strength wise is ironman level in addition to cloaking and the ability to phase through things as shown earlier. That makes most of Steel’s physical attacks pointless.
