In the X-Men team it will be Cyclops, Rogue, Gambit, Storm and Jean Grey and in the Justice League team it will be Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Superman and Green Lantern.
The battle will take place at Washington D.C.
Who wins?

What DC incarnation are they in?
It would be awesome if Rouge copied Superman’s powers. I’m going to side with the X-men at the moment. Hal, Wonder Woman, and Superman are the biggest threats on the JLA. And I want to say the X-Men’s biggest threats are Jean Grey, Rouge, and Storm. Good match up. I think Pheonix Force Jean Grey might be overkill. Cyclops’ optic plast could really help in some of the one-on-one fights. Gambit is cool.
I think Rouge can copy Superman’s power or out right drain it.

Well it’s easy to confuse. They use the exact same letters. there’s three characters called Rouge and Rogue doesn’t scream A scoundrel, rascal or unprincipled, deceitful, and unreliable person.
The trouble is and I admit I haven’t been keeping up with the new DCU because honestly it sucks, but the books in general are confusing because certain books take place at different times where they are trying to explain the new backgrounds of all the characters, and the JLA series is their actual current incarnations.

JLA still win this though, I think, even without their higher end feats most of the JLA is still leagues above the X-Men, and Flash’s feats from the old DCU should still apply, simply because he’s from there if it’s still Barry.

That said, how will Rogue get her hands on Supes, last I checked her powers have been dropped back down simply to her base mutant power.
Doesn’t Rogue have to touch someone to get their power? Doesn’t that mean that as soon as she touches Supes, he just pastes her?
if she can even touch him, I get he doesn’t have his higher end feats but he is still faster than a speeding bullet, and since Rogue is currently base human her actually getting a hand on him is not as easy as if she still did have Mrs. Marvel’s powers.

The only way I see the X-Men winning is with a psychic attack by Jean, other than that I give it to the JLA.

I can’t recall if rogue touches supes doesn’t that mean she gets his weaknesses too? if thats the case wouldn’t batman (who I’m fairly certain has been shown to have kryptonite on him at one point or another) just use the kryptonite to get rid of rogue?

Batman would most likely end up fighting Gambit, which would assure he is occupied.
Well it got posted and yes this is Jean with Phoenix, otherwise there’s not really anyone who can counter Green Lantern. Otherwise current incarnations for them all.
Don’t forget Rogue doesn’t have to go straight for Superman, touch Wonder Woman get strength to equal Supes then plant a kiss on Superman, he’ll be so shocked by the female contact he won’t try and defend himself (no longer married and all now so his no girlfriend thing is back in play) Plus I think Rogue gets the “perfected” or more evolved forms of their powers have to go back and check, so she may get all his power none of his weaknesses.

Also I think Wonder Woman may be being overestimated about avoiding touch, the womans half naked the power transfer is near instant, Rogue doesn’t need that long before she can match strength with Wonder Woman and hold her of her own will.

Don’t think they’ve reached that stage of Supe y Bat friendship yet. Not sure if he’s aware of kryptonite either, I think they’re going the route of Kryptonite actually being rare…. at least for now.
Depends on the Omega Beams. Used to be that they were essentially instantaenous and could follow you through dimensions. They’ve gotten progressively slower it seems.
There’s still forcing Superman still with TK and letting Rogue do her thing. She can drain energy from him maybe being able to knock him to near human if she really tries.

People are underestimating Storm, which they generally do, I mean aside Phoenix Jean she is the heaviest hitter on the X-Mens side. One of the heaviest hitters in the match.

Think of the most powerful blizzard, where you can’t see anything, with wind speeds you’d only see on Neptune; not to mention the deep freeze temperatures. Tornadoes, Hailstones the size of boulders. Lightning storms that would probably even fry WW. The list goes on, I mean the women controls the weather of an entire planet (any planet at that). There’s a reason she’s still considered a Goddess in Africa you know

Because normally I believe it’s Supes who give Bats the Kryptonite first. In New 52 I don’t think that instance has occurred or if Bats is even aware if his weakness yet…. Do you have something about him having it currently.

Uh I’m not sure. I’d have to find my WWH, but in that she, along with Johnny Storm (going all out mind you) fire something akin to a Solar Flare at Hulk… to slow him down, as they knew it wouldn’t stop him. Her powerful electrical forces and his insane fire/heat.

I think, not 100% there. As for her power, She’s like a Mortal, vincible Thor, without a hammer. Her electrical discharges can act like an EMP too, so she can short out bat’s gear… though with a direct hit with what she could throw Bat’s would only be ash anyway.

She can create weather effects within indoor areas or within artificially maintained environments: for example she could create an indoor rainstorm. She can create weather effects over very small areas; as when she water her potted plants.Using her precise control over air she has even been shown to control the very air in a persons lungs.

In terms of her doing something to block solar radiation, while I think they get a base knowledge of the opposition would that mean the actually know about Superman using solar energy to grant him his powers, or for that matter, just blocking solar radiation doesn’t instantly depower superman. Honestly hasn’t this stuff been brought up in other Superman threads before? In the end I honestly thin the X-men win via stomp because of Phoenix being so insanely powerful, without it though JLA stomps because there is literally very little that can be done to stop them.

Unfortunately that is her weak point. Her powers equate to her being one of the most powerful and dangerous beings on Marvel Earth, sadly she’s a pacifist and, as you say, not very fast or physically strong. But these matches generally mean they go all out. Would the JL even know to hit her first?

You say “them” when you mean Supes and maybe WW, possibly GL. Aqauman and Batman are relatively weak, in an instantly Storm could flash fry them. Jeans telepathy would probably be enough to incapacitate, or dis-orientate the others, at least long enough for Rogue to absorb WW, or maybe even Supes’ power. Then the X-men have an equal footing.

Cykes beam is also pretty powerful, I’d wager him going full blast might even crack GL’s shield things he’d throw up.

Not to mention the X-men have the teamwork, being mindlinked can really turn a battle, especially if the enemy side is being mentally bombarded at the same time. Though it’s Emma Frost who does this now, I’m sure Jean would be able to effectively pull it off.

Now bring the Phoenix force into it, and then JL pretty much have to all engage her or suffer defeat, leaving the rest to do as they will. As these matches are, isn’t there a rule stating no matter who is in them, they go for the kill? Surely this would unleash Dark Phoenix, if that’s the case it’s endgame for JL. It would probably end up being an X-Men win regardless, the Phoenix is a major contender, it’s power is above Galactus (don’t quote me on that, but the Phoenix force is an ancient universal power of death, destruction and rebirth).

We were at school and we got into a debate about whether it was plain old Jean Grey or The Phoenix. I was saying it’s regular Jean Grey because if it was going to be Phoenix he would have put Phoenix. He said current incarnation rule means it’s Phoenix and I was like but it’s says Jean Grey. Uhm I’m pretty sure Jean is above just about any of those people in her sleep. Also you’ve seen the movie X3 right the one with the toned down Phoenix, who could vaporize just about anyone without ridiculously good healing factors. I’m pretty sure thats like trying to say Batman could resist being eaten by Galactus, The Phoenix will consume Batman and Bruce Wayne.
Jean currently is alive again, and hunting for a shard of the phoenix force, currently she isn’t even a part of the X-men either.
