The Thing is a member of the Fantastic Four from Marvel Comics. In their continuing war against DC, his opponent is Superman killer Doomsday. The Thing has fought Hulk to a stand still in some cases, but can his rocky hide be a good defense to Doomsday’s spike?
Can the Blue Eyed Thing win one for Yancy Street or will Doomsday have another superhero on his kill list?
EDIT: To make things even, and to Itchey’s suggestion, Thing has to last an hour against Doomsday to win.

Doomsday stomps this. Doomsday can go toe to toe with Superman, can trash half the JLA, as is now immune to most ways of dying. Thing won’t be able to even touch him, seeing as how Doomsday can move faster than Superman (Superman’s thoughts during their fight), which puts Doomsday at, at minimum, multiple times the speed of sound.

If D-Day doesnt have the powers that make him OP, then this actually becomes a match. Doomsday without amazo cells and stuff is basically another Hulk. Thing can actually fight, as opposed to angrily swinging fists around, he might just win in that scenario.

If it is possible to switch Doomsday for someone else, maybe you could go with Solomon Grundy? I hear his physical strength changes, so perhaps that would be fairer. -
I think adding more would help. Maybe have Mr. Fantastic give Thing a bio suit that enhances Thing’s strength while softening Doomsday’s blows? Make it all determined by their tactics and techniques.

FactBehemoth, I’ve also seen Lex Luthor knock out Superman in a robot suit. It might be a good observation though, I don’t know. The Thing can take extreme temperatures up to I think about 1,000 F for prolonged periods of time before prominent heat injury so it would be interesting to see the Human Torch really produce damage on The Thing in just a flash of flame. Notwithstanding this discrepancy, you make a good point about concussive/impact force which The Thing is actually remarkably capable of taking good bouts of. Double D is still characterised as being invulnerable (official malapropism) + uber-fast and I would also argue that in most cases the Hulk hasn’t hit as hard as Doomsday on his own average versus Superman. I’m thinking this is a ROCLstomp match but also at the same time doubtful in a minor instance. Seeing as both combatants are basically melee, bulk-based tanks its easy to compare as when it comes to Hulk, Thing and DD they do what they do best. In saying that ultimately it would only be a matter of time before Thing becomes a pile of rubble.

Sorry. To solve this we need to know how far the projectile traveled, and as far as I know, the only way to solve for that is to use angular size… but we don’t know the angular size of the image.

I don’t agree that one can merely assume what this value is, so I can’t do it. There are people on the Narutoforums that do this all the time though. You’d probably have better luck asking one of them for a quick estimate.

I think a New 52 Doomsday might make this more even when he shows up.
I think they dropped hints about it his existence in Supergirl and Superboy. Apparently Kryptonians created creatures called Worldkillers. Also when they were experimenting with cloning, they found out clones with Kryptonian in them like Superboy eventually become mindless Killing machine. Those two sound pretty Doomsday to me. -

There’s no fucking way Thing lasts an hour without Doomsday being seriously handicapped. Both Martian Manhunter AND Orion, who are much stronger, faster, much more durable, more intelligent(general knowledge/IQ as well as tactically), more experienced and at least with Orion, far, far more skilled took on Doomsday together. Orion had the intention to kill Doomsday. They literally didn’t even last one minute.
Superman’s gone for 52 seconds and when he gets back, Doomsday’s won.
Thing’s only advantages that give him a realistic chance against Hulk(sometimes) are he’s smarter(than most incarnations), a better fighter, and is faster and more agile. Thing does not have the last two advantages, and well, LOOK AT WHAT HE DID TO MARTIAN MANHUNTER AND ORION!!!!!
If we talk about DEATH OF SUPERMAN Doomsday, that’s like your city getting hit with a nuclear bomb instead of thermonuclear. You’re still guaranteed to get fucked-up, just modestly less noticeable.
The Justice League team at the time had Maxima, Martian Manhunter(in the guise of Bloodwynd), Guy Gardner(with Sinestro’s Power Ring) and Superman. Each are individually more powerful than the combined Fantastic Four. Plus, it also had Ice, Fire, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle. Doomsday was beating them with literally one hand tied behind his back.
YEAR ONE Doomsday had a Green Lantern Power Ring and, although he had become partially adapted to Oan energy, survived a Guardian’s kamakazi that tore a hole in space/time, after his Power Ring had depleted.
Brainiac-Doomsday had super-genius at minimum on par with Reed, powerful telepathy and telekinesis, and weapons from what was supposed to be the most technologically advanced planet in the universe(Colu or however it’s spelled).
Even when Doomsday was at his weakest but still considered to be Doomsday, he was surviving in an extremely harsh atmosphere and had killed some of the most dangerous animals in the universe on prehistoric Krypton.
I’d say Thing MIGHT have a chance if surviving for 15 seconds counts as a win, but I feel like I’m being overly kind.
