Here we have HOF winner Kratos going up against a character which has started gaining a lot of popularity, Harry Dresden!
For this battle Dresden has his staff blasting rod sword cane shield bracelet necklace allowing access to the ways kinetic rings and is wearing his Winter Knight armor.Kratos has his God of War 3 equipment and magics.
If Dresden stomps he gets downgraded to just his Duster.
If Kratos stomps he loses the Blade of Olympus.
Dresden has had three hours to study on Kratos powers. They start 400 feet apart
Who wins?

@Commander
they turned after we figured out a more pheasible number for Kratos punches.
@Admiral
This is what we’ll be here to find out, right?
To be honest I think this match went longer than it probably needed to and was decided before now.
@Admiral
So how many megatons can 300 tons in themselves translate into, exactly?
doesn’t really matter we know Kratos punches equate to just under one ton of TNT.
“A gram of TNT releases 4100–4602 Joules upon explosion.”–Wikipedia
1 pound (lb) is 453.6 grams
1 ton is 2000 lbs
2000 x 453.6 = 907,200 grams
907,200 x 4100 = 3,719,520,000 joules
@Doctor and Admiral
Does that mean Kratos’s punches might phase the Pumpkin-head’s shields?
Think of it this way:
I calculated approx. 75 kj for Dresden’s shield
(75000 since I can’t be bothered to look again) and 3,719,520,000 joules for Kratos’ punch.
3,719,520,000 joule impact vs 75,000 joule shield
3,719,455,000 joules would get through. Dresden wouldn’t even be a tomato.
Only if by phase you mean ignore completely.
–
Kratos can’t get to Dresden though, and from what I can tell can’t block or stop the incoming spells.
well post 201 using a special calculator Kratos needed to punch at 18.5m/s in order to equal a ton of TNT we said that the speed was about 32m/s for that drop.
Subscribed to thread.
@Doctor
Yikes!!!
Dresden’s gotten a lot more Uber compared to back then, hasn’t he?
@Agent
I mean Phase as in damage the shield until it breaks.
Dresden would probably be getting ready to blast Kratos across the town with that blast like he used on the Loup-Garou he’d wait till the right moment and drop the shield while shouting Fuego and blast Kratos point blank in the face.
He can, he just can’t cover the 400 feet to do anything with that power.
–
Unless there’s some quantifiable amount of force with his bow then he can’t really stop Dresden from getting off a spell either. /scromp
also like I said they said 18.5m/s was needed for striking speed for Kratos to reach a ton of TNT for force. Assuming thats accurate and the 32m/s we found was accurate Dresden should be able to drink a starbucks coffee and let Kratos pound away.
@Agent
So in other words, in Long-Range distances its Dresden’s fight to lose, but in CQC, he may have causes for problems, right?
I read over Darthgrim’s post, I need to think for a second, but in the meantime, let’s consider:
Energy = 1/2 Mass x Velocity Squared
1 ton of TNT is 3,719,520,000 joules, as calculated from data off of wikipedia and Google Calculator.
–
So our equation is now:
3,719,520,000j=1/2m (18.5m/s/s)
Multiply both sides by two, and divide by 18.5 m/s/s, and you get:
–
7,439,040,000/18.5=m
402,110,270 kilograms=m
–
So we’re either saying Kratos is 402,110,270 kg with that calculation, or his fist is.
@Admiral
All the while feeling justified and consented to make like Spongebob Squarepants when Flance the Flounder was trying to pound him, and just absorb the blows pretty much?
’
*multiply both sides by two, and divide by 18.5 m/s
–
Sorry, I said m/s/s by accident.
@Doctor
This is gonna hurt a lot, isn’t it?
Square root of. Sorry, my brain isn’t working because I am sick as a dog.
–
20,052.6874 kg is the final result of that.
–
So are we saying Kratos is 20,052.6874 kg, or his fist is, or what?
well they based it off a lifting feat so that may be the issue.
I mean what would happen if you put 32m/s in there? what would that put the shields rating at?
@Admiral
Above B-Class(YYH term) or Over 9000?
The problem with that is, the approach to finding Dresden’s feat is different, slightly. If I plugged in his roughly 75kj shield into E, and calculated for M, I’d end up with 138.5 kg again.
=
Based off the info gathered from Kratos, I plugged in what I got from the 1 ton equation for E, and the calculated 18.5 m/s deal to get more than 20,000 kg for him.
=
What I’m saying is, the feat is wonky at best. We need his actual mass to get an actual energy output for an 18.5 m/s fist attack. Seeing as all strength really is is how fast you can accelerate your body.
so Kratos strength is mostly unquantifiable?
Unless I am misunderstanding something from Darthgrim’s post, yes. Very much so. If I am, please feel free to let me know, Darthgrim.
@Admiral
Can he lift 300 tons?
I don’t know for certain. we can’t really be 100% certain of the weight of most of the things Kratos has lifted. and can’t go by QTE’s because at times Kratos struggles with doors
@Admiral
That’s not good!
Kratos is about six foot five I just read so he can’t weigh much more than Dresden
@Admiral
Which means in turn…Dresden’s winning, right?
Dresden is winning because Kratos can’t close the distance before Dresden starts slinging high powered spells.
@Admiral
That feels Below 9000 for Kratos, doesn’t it?
want to see over nine thousand go look at the most recent feats in Tavi vs Aang Commander
So is this match still generating Badassery, or is it far behind even the last 3 pages of the CN Civil War?
@Admiral
I can do that!
“1 ton of TNT equivalent is equal to 4.2 × 109 joules.” –Wikipedia “Units of Energy”
4,200,000,000 joules = 1/2 m (18.5 m/s)
–
Same deal, we multiply both sides by two, and divide by 18.5 m/s
–
8,400,000,000 joules/18.5 m/s
–
454,054,054 kg=m^2
–
21,308.5442kg=m
Fixed Quote: 4.2 x 10^9
Dr Doctor I redid the feat using Kronus himself, because Kratos can match Kronus’s palm slap. Post 208, tell me what you think.
@Darthgrim
What did that feat mean?
So we have a physicist in here now? Dr. Doctor, I like the work you have provided thus far.
Just to help you guys. I copied From KMC The guy named BloodRain did pretty impressive calc here .

Kratos is badass.
“Kratos is badass.”
kratos isnt close to being badass.
Rabd al’thor would wreck kratos

And yet he has a difficult time lifting up a door.

Hey Hellboy do you know Gendrons? Because you’ve been pwning a whole lot just like him. Now everyone will know that Kratos is cool
“Rabd al’thor would wreck kratos”

I prefer Rabbi al’Thor.
“Hey Hellboy do you know Gendrons? Because you’ve been pwning a whole lot just like him. Now everyone will know that Kratos is cool”

This is too funny.
Sorry guys, but I’m definitely going with Kratos on this match. His skills are too intense. That’s 3 votes for Kratos for FP award
@Aelfinn Thanks
“I prefer Rabbi al’Thor”
_
Would be a good match against God of war Kratos .
Damn you guys are way to serious . But Kratos is badass
He kinda is isn’t he
I’m going to vote for Dresden. It seems like he has everything working in his favor.
Uh oh
if Cronos is so strong how come they had to shrink the temple after the first game
“if Cronos is so strong how come they had to shrink the temple after the first game”
_
They just change the shape for some reason .But even In calc he cuts the weight of temple to a half.
Good job there Hellboy
-
I’m not playing favorites guys, I just like having fun
They changed it because it was too heavy for him.
Point for Guardian
@Councilor Aelfinn
Methinks NKB FST meant Rand ‘Blood’ al’Thor in there, one of the only guys(Haseo or Skulduggery notwithstanding) who could actually beat Dresden even if Dresden is with two other dudes who are meant to fight Rand, actually.
I’m rooting for Dresden all the more, now!
” . But Kratos is badass ”
nope.
““I lived as a warrior, I have died as a God. Having suffer the ultimate sacrifice, I have been denied release. I, I will defeat Olympus. I will have my REVENGE! ””

couldnt find the other quote i was looking for atm ill post it latter
also in gow 2 he gave the last of his strength/power to Kratos that may be why Kratos was able to resist him Cronos was far from his full power
Another point for Guardian
“I will never forgive you for this!
_
“Ares! There is nothing you can put in my way to stop me. I will save my family ! ”
Weakest Kratos saying that to God of war Ares.
Point for Hellboy
Gotta run fellas
” Kratos that may be why Kratos was able to resist him Cronos was far from his full power”
_
That was Cronos Rage and he lost in Gow3 by falling inside the river StyX
@Admiral
Is there more to add?
@Hellboy
much of the gods powers at all seem to be tied to magic much like how Kratos channeling it into the Blade of Olympus, how else would he be able to loose the physical might of a god and be back to demigod level if it wasn’t interconnected
So, is Kratos’ strength from magic? And was there a shift in his strength, resulting in some type of inconsistency?
in fact according to the god of war wiki
its all tied to the degree of godly invincibility a particular entity has.
“Invincibility grants its user formidable superhuman strength and endurance. A power possessed by Gods and Titans alike, it grants the user immunity to most, if not all magic attacks, that could easily kill humans or mortals. Contrary to its name however, many bearers of this power can indeed be killed, after first being weakened by other means. One of these weapons, as proven on many occasions, is the Blade of Olympus, first designed to end the Great Titanomachy, and powerful enough to kill a God. Many of the Gods encountered throughout the God of War series have displayed this power, the only means of stopping them being items like Pandora’s Box, and God-forged weapons like the Blade of Olympus and the Gauntlet of Zeus. Although, in God of War III, every character who supposedly possesses this power is killed in a rather straightforward, but brutal, manner. This could be because Kratos himself possesses some degree of godly power, due to being not only a Demigod, but a former God and having the Blade Of Olympus in his possession for some time during the game.”
@Proto
I don’t know on Kratos for sure
but by all accounts if its not tied to power Kratos physical might shouldn’t have changed just because of losing his power into the blade of olympus if thats the case it seemed like that was horribly important he get the Blade back from what Gaia said
@Admiral
This is rather…off-key, how bad did the nerfage begin?
due to being not only a Demigod, but a former God and having the Blade Of Olympus in his possession for some time during the game.”
_
Blade of Olympus holds the godly powers powers so it’s pretty obvious. But the powers is only inside the blade not inside the Kratos.
_
Kratos is a demi god just by that fact he has incredible strength on top of that he is Son of Zeus foll blooded God and brother of Hercules. So I don’t see any problem Kratos stopping Cronos thunder clap.
_
River Styx in Gow3 when Kratos fell inside he lost all of his powers items and Magic except the Golden Fleece. Like I said before Strength is inside Kratos and it cannot be removed.
@Everyone else
May we agree the Admiral is a genius for being able to provide the site many a Badass fight?
If that were true then by all accounts Cronos shouldn’t have gotten weaker and should have been able to carry the original temple like a backpack
@Admiral
Should we chalk it up to potential nerfage/Cosmic In-universe PIS going on?
579 was at Hellboy’s last quote.
also what I was saying is godly invulnerability like Zeus and Cronos have come with increased strength its part of the magic of them as they are divine entities or mortals who gained power one of the two. Its tied to the degree of godly power. otherwise average mortals should be able to do what Kratos was doing. by giving up part of the magic that made him divine Cronos further weakened himself, I didn’t say it wasn’t still impressive just that he was weakened and that we can’t really say how strong he was because his divine nature alters exactly how strong a being of that size would be.
“Cronos shouldn’t have gotten weaker and should have been able to carry the original temple like a backpack”
_
Geez they just change the shape of temple even without that In calc he only putted a half the weight of the temple. that thunder clap was damn fast with all the strength and that temple’s weight gtg now later.
@Admiral
Well JIC, we could chalk it up to some kind of nerfage going on, there’s no other surefire way to put it these days.
“I’m going to vote for Dresden. It seems like he has everything working in his favor.”
-
Except for strength or durability.
===
“Kratos is badass.”
-
Meh, He’d be badass if he weren’t shown as one dimensional tantrum storm whose only redeeming quality is that he’s slightly less of a dick then the rest of his family.
@Commander
I’m saying more Cronos wasn’t at full power and may not have been at peak strength for a being of that size. based on that there’s no telling what the strength calculation should be for Cronos, it could be higher or lower than what the calculating says.
I still have a problem with the door.
@Admiral
True enough on that!
I guess we have no way of knowing for sure, do we?
gilgamesh >>>> kratos
@NKB
Don’t let me lie, F/Z’s Berserker is Badass!!!
yes lncelot is, he at one point turns an f-15 into his nobel phantasm
*lancelot
@NKB
With Lancelot’s Nasu-verse Avatar, it looks like the White Cleaver from the world of Skulduggery Pleasant(by Derek Landy) might actually just found himself a worthy opponent to fight, in retrospect sometime, right?
similarities between Dresden and Kratos
both killed the woman they loved
both spit in the face of beings that could turn them into smears if they were really trying.
both deal with inner darkness
differences between them
Dresden sacrificed Susan quite literally so that he could destroy the red court of vampires and save the world. Kratos killed Lysandra in a rage while he was being played like a string puppet by Ares
Kratos foes generally fall due to plot induced stupidity. Dresden beats his foes after fighting with every ounce of power he has taking a crap ton of damage and doing whatever he can to defeat the evil horror of the week usually through a combination of outwitting smart alleching and high powered spells.
Dresden fights every day not to turn to the darkside and start slaughtering everyone in sight and ripping out their lifeforce to become a necromatic god and taking the powers of a fallen angel while leading a virtually invincible army of zombies to, to paraphrase Dresden, take all the living space he can with his now phenomenal cosmic might.
Kratos just runs around being pissed off and slaughter people while feeling somewhat guilty about what he did to his wife daughter and to a lesser extent Athena and kills people regardless of innocence and all.
Dresden strives to be a force of good and after doing literally what Kratos did prior to game one (making a deal with a high power diety to serve them in return with the power to do what he needed to do [In Dresden's case he made a deal with Mab to heal his then broken back and become the Winter Knight so that he could save his daughter from what amounts to the Mayan/Aztec gods, unlike Kratos who wanted to slaughter his enemies for his own glory]) he tells Mab a being who more then likely could blast him and Chicago into a hole in the ground with nothing left but a great view of the earths core that he would do things his way not hers. So lets recap:
Kratos makes a deal with Ares and becomes his bitch Dresden makes a deal with Mab and says he’s doing things his way and if she doesn’t like it she can shove it where the sun don’t shine.
Who is the more badass of the two the guy who became someones bitch or the guy who told a goddess that he wasn’t going to be her bitch and there wasn’t a damned thing he could do.
@Admiral
Dresden sounds like a fine Magic-using counterpart to Asura(from Asura’s Wrath) in a lot of respects, doesn’t he?
’ (well as of the novel when he became the Winter Knight, before that…not by all that much, but somewhere to be sure!)
And here I thought my gravatar + Atoli are already enough by themselves in terms of legit common grounds and stuff(Ministry of Magic + The CC Corp notwithstanding, that is!) but…dang it that’s massive, right there!
So Admiral, is there more to add?
quote from Ghost Story right after Dresden’s soul fought a battle and went back to his body. He woke up from cryo shortly after getting back in his body because Mab had kept his body alive by chilling it. So keep that in mind.
” I couldn’t help it. I laughed again. It hurt like hell and it felt wonderful. “Heh. Heh.”
Mab had gone very still. She stared at me with wide eyes, her alien face void of expression.
“No,” I said then, weakly. “No. Maybe I’m your knight. But I’m not yours.”
Emerald fire flickered in her eyes, cold and angry. “What?”
“You can’t make me your monster,” I slurred. “Doesn’t work. And you know it.”
Mabs eyes grew colder, more distant. “Oh?”
“You can make me do things,” I said. “You can mess with my head. But all that makes me is a thug.” The effort of so many words cost me. I had to take a moment to rest before I continued. “You wanted a thug; you get that from anywhere. Lloyd Slate was a thug. Plenty where he came from.”
Demonreach’s burning eyes flickered, and a sense of something like cold satisfaction came from the cloaked giant.
“Said it yourself: need someone liek me.” I met Mab’s eyes with mine and curled my upper lip into a sneer. “Go on. Try to change me. The second you do, the second I think you’ve played with my head or altered my memory, the first time you compel me to do something, I’ll do the one thing you can’t have in your new knight.” I lifted my head a little and I knew that must have looked a little crazy as I spoke. “I’ll do it. I’ll follow your command. And I will do nothing else. I’ll make every task you command one you must personally oversee. I’ll have the initiative of a garden statue. And do you know what that will give you, my queen?”
Her eyes burned. “What?”
I felt my own smile widen. “A mediocre knight,” I said. “And mediocrity, my queen, is a terrible, terrible fate.”
Her voice came forth from lips so cold that frost began forming on them. The next drop of water to fall on me thumped gently, a tiny piece of sleet. “Do think I cannot punish you for such defiance? Do you think I cannot visit such horrors upon those you love as to create legends that last a thousand years?”
I didn’t flinch. “I think you’ve got too much on your plate already,” I spat back. “I think you don’t have the time or the energy to spare to fight your own knight anymore. I think you need me, or you wouldn’t have gone to all the trouble of keeping me alive for this, of taxing your strength to get it done. You need me. Or else why are you here? In Chicago? In May?”
Again, the inhuman eyes raked at mine. But when she spoke, her voice was very, very softand far more terrible than a moment before. “I am not some mortal merchant to be bargained with. I am not some petty president to be argued with. I am Mab.”
“You are Mab,” I said. “And I owe you a debt for preserving my life. For giving me the power I needed to save my daughter’s life. Don’t think that I have forgotten that.”
The faerie’s expression finally changed. She frowned and tilted her head slightly, as if puzzled. “Then why this defiance? When you know I will take vengeance for it?”
“Because my soul is my own,” I said quietly. “You cannot steal it from me. You cannot change it. You cannot buy it. I am mine Mab. I have fought long and hard against horrors even you would respect. I have been beaten, but I have not yielded. I’m not going to start yielding now. If I did, I wouldn’t be the weapon you need.”
Her eyes narrowed.
“I will be the Winter Knight,” I told her. “I will be the most terrifying Knight the Sidhe Courts have ever known. I will send your enemies down in defeat and make your power grow.” I smiled again. “But I do it my way. On my terms. When you give me the task, I’ll decide how it gets done—and you’ll stay out of the way and let me work. And that’s how it’s going to be.”
After a long silent moment, she said, “You dare give commands to me, mortal?”
“I can’t control you,” I said. “I know that. But I can control me. And I’ve just told you the only way you get what you want out of me.” I shrugged a little. “Up to you, my queen. But think about whether you want another thug to command or an ally to respect. Otherwise, you might as well start cutting on me right here, right now, and get yourself somebody with less backbone.”
The Queen of Air and Darkness stared down at me for silent moments. ”
So again Kratos bowed to a god Dresden said he’d be the goddesses warrior on his terms or she could get herself a spineless bootlicker, like say..Kratos
@StealthRanger
its a nice calc but a titan is still stronger than a human of the same size a better comparison would be say a gorilla as no human could break off such ar large peice of stone even scaled up(other grweat apes have but mostly just with sand stone)
—
where did the rt’s come from though?
@Admiral
Like I said before…is Dresden his world’s Pre-meditated Response to Asura(or is it the other way around, given how the dot.hack universe or Asura’s Wrath came years after the Dresden Files debuted?) or What?
’
This is gonna affect a Tartarus of a whole lot of plans for how the 3-vs-2 universe fight is gonna need to be planned out, isn’t it?
@Gendrons
uhm which Stealth ranger post was that referring to?
@Admiral
How does this answer any of my questions, again?
