Here we have HOF winner Kratos going up against a character which has started gaining a lot of popularity, Harry Dresden!
For this battle Dresden has his staff blasting rod sword cane shield bracelet necklace allowing access to the ways kinetic rings and is wearing his Winter Knight armor.Kratos has his God of War 3 equipment and magics.
If Dresden stomps he gets downgraded to just his Duster.
If Kratos stomps he loses the Blade of Olympus.
Dresden has had three hours to study on Kratos powers. They start 400 feet apart
Who wins?

Hmmm, could be tough
-
Im thinking Dresden will want to keep his distance to win here, not a great deal of things outside of comics and anime get close to Kratos and survive, and at close range, given the result of the Black Templar vs Dresden thread, Kratos would maul Dresden up close what with his vastly superior physical abilities and speed with the Boots of Hermes
-
As for powers, Kratos has quite the handy powerset in his GoW3 incarnation (soul summoning (which comes with petrification via Gorgon Souls and soundwaves with Siren Souls), soul ripping, light generation with Helios’ Head, rain of ethereal arrows with the Arms of Sparta, rapid firing arrows and flaming arrows with the Bow of Apollo, energy waves with the Nemean Cestus, etc), does Dresden have any spells that could be effective against Kratos?
-
Going with Kratos for now until something really good comes up for Dresden
Initial bets with Dresden. But if Kratos is too fast to hit or can actually reach him that shield won’t be helping.
What about time stuff, did GoW3 Kratos have time attacks?
“What about time stuff, did GoW3 Kratos have time attacks?”
-
Kratos’ time manipulation can only be achieved with the Statues of Fate, which is a time slow, which was in GoW2
-
And due to the neutral battleground rule there are no Statues of Fate so Kratos cannot manipulate time, so yeah its irrelevant
-
As for his shields, CIDE calculated Kratos’ striking strength (I consider blocking to be more striking strength than lifting strength) to be 28 KT, which is almost twice the energy of the Hiroshima Bomb (15 KT) so yeah unless Dresden’s shield can tank nuclear level attacks, any strike from Kratos is going to level Dresden and his shield in one blow
Oh and what happened to the scenario that was supposed to be in this match?
What was the scenario. Also, is 3 the one where Kratos has that fleece, and what kind of defense does that bring
I think this was it:
-
“Thousands of years after the fall of Olympus the god killer Kratos, having fled through the looms of time awoke in a distant time and place, modern Chicago. He gripped his weapons he brought repaired during the trip and felt his restored power course through him as he gazed at his new surroundings. The buildings of Chicago towered over him as he stands in the roadway. Suddenly two lights start coming towards him. He attacks the strange object causing it to crash into a building. He walks over to the wrecked car and see’s a dead man inside it. He begins to walk away when suddenly a police officer points a gun at him and tells him to drop the weapons or he’ll shoot. Kratos snarls and charges the officer and kills him with the Blades of Exile. Kratos goes on a rampage through the city soon drawing the attention of Harry Dresden. Dresden discovers the ancient nature of Kratos magic and prepares for the battle.”
-
Anyways, what does Dresden have up his sleeves? Anything effective against Kratos?
Some fire stuff, a revolver, some kinetic force attacks.
–
I forgot Kratos has Hermes’ boots though, so that may actually prevent a lot of offensive stuff from getting to him. Dresden has the AoE gravity thing, but Kratos has those wings that’d help with that as well I’m thinking.
Huh, I’m just reading the Dresden Files right now. It’s very good, everybody should read it.
Anywho, Harry kicks around abominations every other week. I’m sure he could handle Kratos. Not easily but I’m fairly certain he could pull out a win here.
“I forgot Kratos has Hermes’ boots though, so that may actually prevent a lot of offensive stuff from getting to him”
-
Kratos also has low-mid hypersonic RT (I think it was about Mach 6 or 7) going by CIDE’s calcs on the Leviathan speed and Kratos’ reacting to its surprise attack
-
Does Dresden have anything capable of bypassing this, or can he spam attacks in rapid succession (like how Dante could with E&I)?
-
“Dresden has the AoE gravity thing”
-
How powerful are these gravity fields? If its pressing Kratos into the ground, it’d have to be powerful given Kratos’s huge strength and durability levels
No idea I was wondering that as well. The only quote I’ve seen used though just has it at the other end, where he picks things up in an area and drops them back down. But I don’t read the books so I don’t know what all has been used and what all hasn’t.
“As for his shields, CIDE calculated Kratos’ striking strength (I consider blocking to be more striking strength than lifting strength) to be 28 KT”
-
His shields have stopped park bench sized bumblebee darting towards him, multiple vamps repeatably striking it, and a multiple explosive mine. 28kt is several orders higher then anything I seen him block.
From what I’ve read, that’s more Ebenezer’s level of power then Harry’s.
Though I guess he could mix it with his force spell. Kratos is strong but I don’t think he’s that heavy, Harry should be able to knock him away if he gets to close.
Looks like we’ll have to wait for the Dresden buffs to tell then
-
Also, I left out Kratos’ stamina. He climbed up Pandoras Temple for 3 days or something without tiring or any form of sustenance in GoW1 and keep going as well as climb up the Chain of Olympus several times without tiring in GoW3
-
Unless Dresden has comparable stamina and he keeps the fight going for too long, then its possible that he could tire out in which Kratos could outlast Dresden
His shield didn’t stop an explosive charge, or not the quote you posted on the thread at least. It stopped the shrapnel/ball bearings/contents of an anti-personnel mine
“His shield didn’t stop an explosive charge, or not the quote you posted on the thread at least. It stopped the shrapnel/ball bearings/contents of an anti-personnel mine”
-
It block the explosions that sent the shrapnel flying and the shrapnel itself.
No the munitions that were released hit his shield and rolled off into the hallway, and then released the shrapnel.
Unless we’re talking about different mines** You’d have access to more quotes than me. I just mean the one on the RT.
–
But neither would help against Kratos, I was just clarifying the reference. Or at least the reference I thought it was.
“No the munitions that were released hit his shield and rolled off into the hallway, and then released the shrapnel.”
-
They were trapped in a closet attached to a narrow hallway. The exploding balls that rolled into the hallway would’ve still been right in front of him when they went off.
I knew this day would come!
For those who are backing up Dresden outright, DYDL this fight, alright?
(If I have to state the obvious as to when its alright to start losing outright, not only would I fear the literacy rates but it makes me feel like an Old Man, and Mccoy is enough!!!)
I think everyone was waiting for you to come and tell them about Dresdon
Not necessarily. All we know is that they “rebounded out into the hallway” and that not all of the released munitions hit him.
–
Also the only mentioned contact is the shrapnel itself, and it doesn’t clarify any speed or force of the released munitions. For instance if they’re going fast enough they would roll faster (and farther) away of the sloped shield.
Could Dresden open a door to nevernever then blast Kratos into it with wind or force?
Other then that I’m not see much of a way for Dresden to hurt Kratos. Fire shouldn’t work, force I’m pretty sure doesn’t have enough force to do any lasting harm, not sure freezing would work on Kratos, any other Dresden knowldgeable fans no of any other spells he’s got? The wiki say he’s got some sleep of illusion spells but I haven’t got to those.

Gravity spell
At the very last second, the vampire seemed to sense something. It turned its head toward me.
I clenched my fist as I released my will and snarled, “Gravitus!”
The magic lashed out into the ground beneath the vampire’s feet, and the steady, slow, immovable power of the earth suddenly stirred, concentrating, reaching up for the vampire standing upon it. In technical terms, I didn’t actually increase the gravity of the earth beneath it. I only concentrated it a little. In a circle fifty yards across, for just a fraction of a second, gravity vanished. The cars all surged up against their shock absorbers and settled again. The thin coat of snow leapt several inches off the parking lot and fell back.
In that same fraction of a second, all of that gravity from all of that area concentrated itself into a circle, maybe eighteen inches across, directly at the vampire’s feet.
There was no explosion, no flash of light—and no scream. The vampire just went down, slammed to the earth as suddenly and violently as if I’d dropped an anvil on it. There was a rippling, crackling sound as hundreds of bones shattered all together, and a splatter of sludgy liquid that splashed all over the cars around the vampire—mostly upon the Beetle, really.

Second time
““Gravitus!” I thundered, releasing a second earthcrafting.
Once again, everything jumped up—but this time, it wasn’t quiet. The circle of nullified gravity embraced every shop nearby in the mall, sending merchandise and shelves and dishes and furniture and cash registers and dressing dummies and God knew what other sundry objects flying up, to come crashing back down to the floor again. A great uproar of hundreds of impacts came down from the floors above us as well.
Once again, the circle of supergravity crushed a brown-shirted vampire flat to the floor—only I’d forgotten about the levels above. There was a shriek of tortured metal, and a great crashing rain of debris came down in a nearly solid column as floors and ceilings gave way under the sudden, enormous stress. It all thundered down on the pulped vampire.
There was a second of shocked silence, while objects continued falling from their shelves and bins and who knew what else. Evidently, the damage to the ceiling had torn through some plumbing; a steady stream of water began to patter down from overhead onto the mound of rubble, along with occasional bits of still-falling material.”

I know Kratos has a pretty tough exterior. What about his innards like guts and stuff? Would they be fine against the gravity smashing down everything in the area.
Also, speaking of innards — Doesn’t Dresden have a blood-freezing spell or some such? Or is that a hex that he needs prep/rituals for?
Oh you said the freezing wouldn’t work, nvm.
“Oh you said the freezing wouldn’t work, nvm.”
-
I don’t know if freezing will work. I Don’t really recall much in the frozen resistance department for Kratos.
I’ll wait until AngelForge arrives, bad enough he went late for the KotC vs the Azure Knights fight, to begin with. T_T
Well, it looks like Kratos just might be able to redeem himself. I’m going to root for him, just because I know nothing about Harry Dresden.
@Admiral and AngelForge
If you’re in there, the Pumpkin-headed Dresden could use a hand or two in here!
I need to read these Dresden books.
@Stealth
When was that quote? Could you repost it or tell me which thread? I kind of want to see that.
@Captain
Glad that we are not alone in this.

For those who might listen, or at the very least for AngelForge if he ever shows up again, this is the link to the fight I meant!
So must we return to the combat at hand?
it begins………(turns out i made a miss calculation so im able to debate today)
——
does Harry Dresden have any abilities that are beyond mach 8?
That’s what we were wondering Gendrons. So far we think it’s a stomp for Kratos
@StealthRanger
okay im curious now where did cide do these calculations? and if his puncheches are that strong why doesn’t he just hit the ground as the force should topple a city.
for stamina you guy’s forgot him running from attica to marthon without tire.
Quit making us look bad Gendrons
……nah jk. Keep pwning Gendrons, it’s epic
wounder what cide put for kratos durrabilty? surly its grown thanks to gos.
—-
honestly i wanna see some ascension gamplay to see if he gets some new feats. the multiplayers intresting and so are the weapons but i need some single player to give my verdict.
okay if kratos’ strikes are that powerful wouldn’t his body need to be able to handle that kind of force thus ide figure that strength alone gives him massive durability.
@ He can go under the F’çk’ng volcano before the eruption hell he is very durable .Another stamina feat when he fought to save his family in Gow1 .
@mrgendrons*
Hey guys can u list kratos powers and aslo harry dresden
Sorry forgot to put this in haha *dresdens powers can u list them also
@the 198
Are you new to the site, by chance?
@CC
Long time reader I commented on a few things but yea I’m technically new
@the 198
Now if only the main bulk of Dresden’s defenders can arrive, not even the Vanguard’s available for some reason or another! T_T
@hellboy147
long time no see hellboy i see you’ve gone to the infamous series(and a great one it is)
hey did you know kratos ounches are measured here at 28 KT the nuke at Hiroshima was 15 kt thus nuke level punches.
If Kratos stomps this fight otherwise, he doesn’t have the BoO, don’t forget this!
@Commander Cross
if kratos punches are almost double a nuke we can pretty much agree he liquefies his enemy.
@CC
To right mate I’m wondering what HD can bring to the party
@the 198
Problem though, is that somehow the main party forgot to mobilize already, its not the 1st time it happened either(need I point out the Knights of the Cross vs the Azure Knights for starters?)
www.comicvine.com/forums/battles/7/he-man-vs-current-superman/29809/?page=4
——-
^going by this it take about 500’000 of kratos’ punches to beat pre 52 supes…..
@CC
I think this thread is off to a slow start
@Mrdrengons
Why you gotta bring supes into this =P lol
Just realized I misspelled Mrgendrons name my bad I’m using my phone to comment so I can’t see it to good
@the 198
but yeah dresden hasn’t got nuke leve durability or is hyper sonic like kratos is. thus hes gonna get liquifide.
eh supes is always a good measuring stick
“if kratos punches are almost double a nuke we can pretty much agree he liquefies his enemy.”
-
WTF that’s absurd. Are you honestly saying that Kratos punching something can cause more damage than it being nuked twice?
@Gen
All bad well I’ll wait till HD supporters come and give specs on him before I go on some wiki look for myself
@The Black Crusader
stealth posted the info and CIDE did the calcs hes also around mach 6-8 thus hypersonic.
so unless harry has a hypersonic feat or nuke level durability hes screwed.
—–
kratos fpa. with ior without the BoO
” hes also around mach 6-8″
thats reactions
with hermes boots hes supersonic
without superhuman
@fallstar thief
“without superhuman”
—–
^by how much though without is he around usain bolt levels or twice than without the boots?
—–
do you know where cide did toughs kratoscalcs i wanna go through them. beyond nuke level punches intrigue me.
@Admiral
Where in Tartarus are you?
@Commander Cross
do you or anyone other than stealth know where cide did thoughs calcs?
@Gendrons Not sure if that could take out Superman. He’s too powerful for Kratos
also, to adress another aspect, there is kratos’ magical resistance capabilities. the fleece has shown an impressive defense record. it can repel the attacks of preety much any force in the gow universe. it has reflected the full force of zeus’ lightning during his fight in gow 2. not to mention in the final part of said fight, it withstood an overhead blow from the blade of olympus weilded by zues himself, which, at the time, contained the full powers of the god of war. in the game, it can reflect any physical, magical, or projectile attack, be it monster, or god. this includes names like hades, hercules, the petrifying glance of the gorgons, etc
Basically this match could get hardcore fast
im saying with his reaction time. in the mach 6 to 7 range, dresden will have to get close, which thanks to the hermes boots speed boost, and the range of the blade of exile and hades hooks, will probably get him killed. if he stays down range, kratos can just throw anything right back at him. this doesnt look good for dresden…
Doesn’t look good for Kratos either. If he stomps Harry then no FP award. So don’t pwn us too badly. Keep it close so he gets an FP award
@Admiral, MessMaker and AngelForge
Are you busting in that calvary, already?
well, in the event of a stomp, he doesnt get the blade. while that is the loss of his most powerful weapon, if you take the feats of the fleece into account it dont think it would really matter too much…
Okay, just keep it in mind
Just how magnetic are Kratos’s equipment, exactly?
Very
Then its a good thing Dresden still has nasty surprises on his side, then.
Planning a comeback are we? Well in the wise words of me, Let’s go
@CC
well, the nemesis whip is actually made out of stone. other than that the material of the weapons is never expressly stated, as he basically is given them or stumbles upon them, the nemesis whip is the only thing we really see made.
Dresden summoning and asking for aid from a being on Odin’s level Mab queen of the Winter Court of the Faeries. And when it doesn’t look like she’ll help he tells her his other options and that she’ll be on his shit list next if she doesn’t help. Dresden did this for his daughter, imagine what he’d do bloodlusted.
” “Mab!” I called, my voice steady. “Mab, Queen of Air and Darkness, Queen of the Winter
Court! Mab, I bid you come forth!”
Changes
30
The third repetition of her name hung ringing in the air, and deafening silence came after as I
awaited the response.
When you trap something dangerous, there are certain fundamental precautions necessary
to success. You’ve got to have good bait, something to draw your target in. You’ve got to
have a good trap, something that works and works fast. And, once the target is in the trap,
you’ve got to have a net or a cage strong enough to hold it.
Get any of those three elements wrong, and you probably won’t succeed. Get two of them
wrong, and you might be looking at a result far more disastrous than mere failure.
I went into this one knowing damned well that all I had was bait. Mab, for her own reasons,
had wanted to suborn me into her service for years. I knew that calling her by her name
and title would be enough to attract her interest. Though the mechanism of my improved summoning
circle would have been a fine trap—if it still existed, I mean—the cage of my will had
always been the weakest point in any such endeavor.
Bottom line, I could get the tiger to show up. Once it was there, all I had was a really good
chalk drawing of a pit on the sidewalk and “Nice kitty.”
I wasn’t going into it blind and ignorant, though. I was desperate, but not stupid. I figured I
had the advantage of position. Mab couldn’t kill a mortal. She could only make him desperately
wish he was dead, instead of enduring her attentions. I didn’t have a lot to lose. She
couldn’t make me any more useless to my daughter than I was already.
I waited, in perfect darkness, for the mistress of every wicked fairy in every dark tale humanity
had ever whispered in the night to put in an appearance.
Mab didn’t disappoint me.
Surprise me, yes. But she didn’t disappoint.
Stars began to appear in front of my eyes.
I figured that was probably a really bad thing, for a moment. But they didn’t spin around in
lazy, dizzy motion like the kind of stars that mean your brain is smothering. They instead
burned steady and cold and pure above me, five stars like jewels on the throat of Lady Night.
Seconds later, a cold wind touched my face, and I became conscious of a hard smoothness
beneath me. I laid my hands carefully flat, but I didn’t feel the cot and the backboard under
me. Instead, my fingers touched only cold, even stone, a planar surface that seemed level
beneath my entire body. I wriggled my foot and confirmed that there was stone beneath it
there, too.
I stopped and realized that I could feel my foot. I could move it.
My whole body was there. And it was naked. I wavered between yelping at the cold suddenly
being visited upon my ass, and yelling in joy that I could feel it at all. I saw land to one
side and scrambled to get off the cold slab beneath me, crouching down and hanging on to
the edge of the slab for balance.
This wasn’t reality, then. This was a dream, or a vision, or something that was otherwise in
between the mortal world and the spiritual realm. That made sense. My physical body was
still back in St. Mary’s, lying still and breathing deeply, but my mind and my spirit were here.
Wherever “here” was.
My eyes adjusted to the darkness and I saw gentle mist and fog hanging in the air. Boiling
clouds let a flash of moonlight in, and it played like a spotlight over the hilltop around me, and
upon the ancient table of stone beside me. The moon’s touch made deeply carved runes all
around the table’s edge dance with flickers of illumination, writing done in some language I
did not know.
Then I understood. Mab had created this place for our meeting. It was known as the Valley
of the Stone Table. It was a broad, bowl-shaped valley, I knew, though the mist hid most
of it from me. In its exact center stood a mound maybe fifty feet across and twelve feet high at
its center. Atop the mound stood the massive slab of stone, held up on four stumpy pillars.
Other stones stood in a circle around it, some tumbled down, some broken, only one remaining
in Stonehenge-like lintel. The stones all shed faint illumination in shades of blue and
purple and deep, deep green. Cold colors.
Winter colors.
Yeah. It was after the equinox. So that tracked. The Table was in Winter’s domain. It was
an ancient conduit of power, transferred in the most primitive, atavistic fashion of all—in hot
blood. There were grooves and whorls in the table’s surface, coated with ancient stains, and it
squatted on the hill, patient and hungry and immovable, like a snapping turtle waiting for
warm, vital creatures to wander too close.
The blood spilled upon this table would carry the power of its life with it, and would flow into
the well of power in the control of the Winter Queen.
A movement across the table from me drew my eye. A shadow seemed to simply congeal
from the mist, forming itself into a slender, feminine shape draped in a cloak and cowl. Glittering
green candle flames flickered in what looked like two eyes within the cowl’s hood.
My throat went dry. It took me two tries to rasp, “Queen Mab?”
The form vanished. A low, feminine laugh drifted through the mist to my right. I turned to
face it.
A furious cat squall erupted from the air six inches behind me and I nearly jumped out of
my skin. I spun to find nothing there, and the woman’s laugh echoed around the top of the
misty mound, this time more amused.
“You’re enjoying this, aren’t you,” I said, my heart pounding in my throat. “You told me so,
didn’t you?”
Whispering voices hissed among the stones around me, none of them intelligible. I saw
another flicker of mocking green eyes.
“Th-this is a limited-time offer,” I said, trying to make my voice sound steady. “It’s been
forced by circumstance. If you don’t get off your royal ass and jump on it, I’m walking.”
“I warned you,” said a calm voice behind me. “Never let her bring you here, my godchild.”
I carefully kept myself from letting out a shriek. It would have been unwizardly. Instead, I
took a deep breath and turned to find the Leanansidhe standing a few feet away, covered in a
cloak the color of the last seconds of twilight, the deep blue-purple fabric hiding her completely
except for her pale face inside the hood. Her green cat eyes were wide and steady,
her expression solemn.
“But I’m here,” I said quietly.
She nodded.
Another shadow appeared beside her, green eyes burning. Queen Mab, I presumed, and
noted that she was actually a couple of inches shorter than my godmother. Of course, especially
in a place like this, Mab could be as gargantuan or Lilliputian as she chose.
Probably-Mab stepped closer, still covered in shadows despite the fact that she was nearer
to me than my godmother was. Her eyes grew brighter.
“So many scars,” said my godmother, and her voice had changed subtly, growing cold and
precise. “Your scars are beautiful things. Within and without.” The shadowed figure stepped
behind one of the fallen stones and emerged from behind another on the opposite side of the
circle. “Yes,” said the cold voice coming from the Leanansidhe’s lips. “I can work with this.”
I shivered. Because it was really cold and I was naked, I’m sure. I looked from the dark figure
to my godmother and back, and asked, “You’re still using a translator?”
“For your sake,” said the cold voice, as a shadowed figure stepped behind the next menhir
and appeared atop another. Walking deosil, clockwise.
Mab was closing the circle around me.
“Wh-why for my sake?” I asked.
The cold voice laughed through the Leanansidhe’s lips. “This conversation would quickly
grow tedious if you kept falling to your knees, screaming in agony and clawing at your bleeding
ears, my wizard.”
“Yeah. But why?” I asked. “Why would your voice hurt me?”
“Because she is angry,” answered the Leanansidhe in her natural voice. “Because her
voice is a part of her power, and her rage is too great to be contained.”
I swallowed. Mab had spoken a few words to me a couple of years back, and I’d reacted
exactly as she described. I’d lost a few minutes of time during the episode her words had provoked
as well. “Rage?” I asked. “About what?”
The shadowed figure let out a spitting hiss, another feline sound that made me flinch and
cringe away from it as if from the lash of a whip. My godmother jerked sharply to one side.
She straightened only slowly, and as she did I saw that a long, fine cut had been drawn
across one of her cheeks. Blood welled up and dripped down slowly.
My godmother bowed her head to Mab, and the cold voice came from her mouth again. “It
is not for my handmaiden to judge or question me, nor to speak for me upon her own account.”
Lea bowed her head to Mab again, and not a flicker of either anger or chagrin showed in
her features. Again, Mab moved from one stone to another without crossing the space in
between. It should have been getting easier to deal with due to repetition. It wasn’t. Each time
she did it I realized that she could just as easily have reappeared behind me with foul intentions,
and there wouldn’t be anything I could do about it.
“There are ancient proprieties to be honored,” Mab’s voice said, her tone measured and
somehow formal. “There are words which must be said. Rites which must be observed.
Speak your desire, mortal man.”
Now I really was shivering with the cold. I folded my arms and hunched in on myself. It
didn’t help. “Power,” I said.
The shadowed figure froze in place and turned to stare at me. The burning green eyes
tilted slightly, as if Mab had cocked her head to one side. “Tell me why.”
I fought to keep my teeth from chattering. “My body is badly injured, but I must do battle
with the Red Court.”
“This you have done many a time.”
“This time I’m fighting all of them,” I said. “The Red King and his inner circle.”
The fire of her eyes intensified. “Tell me why.”
I swallowed and said, “They’ve taken my daughter.”
The shadowed figure shuddered, and her disembodied voice breathed a sigh of pleasure.
“Ahhh. Yes. Not for your own life. But for your child’s. For love.”
I nodded jerkily.
“So many terrible things are done for love,” Mab’s voice said. “For love will men mutilate
themselves and murder rivals. For love will even a peaceful man go to war. For love, man will
destroy himself, and that right willingly.” She began walking in a physical circle now, though
her movements were so touched with unexpected motions and alien grace that it almost
seemed that there must be something else beneath the shrouding cloak. “You know my price,
mortal. Speak it.”
“You want me to become the Winter Knight,” I whispered.
A laugh, both merry and cold, bubbled beneath her response. “Yes.”
“I will,” I said. “With a condition.”
“Speak it.”
“That before my service begins, you restore my body to health. That you grant me time
enough to rescue my daughter and take her to safety, and strength and knowledge enough to
succeed. And you give me your word that you will never command me to lift my hand against
those I love.”
The figure kept its eerie pace as she circled me again, and the temperature seemed to
drop several degrees. “You ask me to risk my Knight in a place of dire peril, to no gain for my
land and people. Why should I do this?”
I looked at her steadily for a moment. Then I shrugged. “If you don’t want to do business,
I’ll go elsewhere. I could still call Lasciel’s coin to me in a heartbeat—and Nicodemus and the
Denarians would be more than happy to help me. I am also one of the only people alive who
knows how to pull off Kemmler’s Darkhallow. So if Nicky and the Nickelheads don’t want to
play, I can damned well get the power for myself—and the next time I call your name, I won’t
need to be nearly so polite.”
Mab let out a mirthless laugh through my godmother’s lips. “You are spoiled for choices,
my wizard. What reason have you to select me over the others?”
I grimaced. “Please don’t take this as an insult. But you’re the least evil of my options.”
The cold voice told me nothing about her reaction. “Explain.”
“The Denarians would have me growing a goatee and gloating malevolently within a few
years, if I didn’t break and turn into some kind of murderous tardbeast first. And I’d have to kill
a lot of people outright, if I wanted to use the Darkhallow.” I swallowed. “But I’ll do it. If I have
no other way to get my child out of their hands, I’ll do it.”
Silence reigned for an unbroken minute on the mound.
“Yes,” mused Mab’s voice. “You will, won’t you? And yes, you know that I do not kill indiscriminately,
nor encourage my Knight to do so.” She paused and murmured, “But you have
proven willing to destroy yourself in the past. You won your last confrontation with my handmaiden
in just such a fashion, by partaking of the death angel. What prevents you from taking
a similar action to cheat me of my prize?” ”
I had to bring that one out, I’m wishing that the Admiral could just arrive in here! T_T
Couldn’t we lessen kratos abilities or take some powers away so it won’t be such a stomp or something?
i take from that that he seems to have trouble with control on the more powerful entities he summons, where as kratos can summon any entity he desires with full contorl thanks to the hooks. i suspect that given the magical background of the entities, he could soul rip them.
I will have to go and grab some more quotes until the Admiral can arrive in here, already.
Those who want Dresden to earn a hard-earned victory, please wish me luck, alright?
i dont see dresden winning this, as the more powerful the entity, the less control he has. even if he can find something strong enough to beat kratos, if he could, he would be in just as much danger as kratos, if not more so, as kratos has a pile of magical and magic deflecting weapons at his disposal.
That’s why I’m wondering why they can’t lessen those gosh darn powers of kratos
@198
if we have to continuously lower the powers of kratos to dresdens level, than that makes it kinda obvious that kratos wins doesnt it?
Does Kratos have any metal armor?
nope, gow 3 incarnation is the most recent, and will be forever as it is the end chronologicsally, has him in nothing more than his leather clothes. gloves, shoes, and kilt are all he wears, all leather. the rest is bare. thats the thing about kratos that really says it for his durability feats. he does what he does in 0 armor
“also, to adress another aspect, there is kratos’ magical resistance capabilities. the fleece has shown an impressive defense record.”
-
There’s a chance The fleece and his weapons could do more harm then good considering Dresden’s magnetic abilities allowing him to fling them around and uses a weapons against Kratos.
@Doc Lowk
Those Magnetic abilities are capable of giving Haseo of all people causes for fits(which if he’s not prepared to fight Dresden at all, will just serve as the appetizer for the worlds of pain he’d be unleashed at, kind of like how if Tony Stark’s not prepared to fight Magneto he’s gonna pay dearly for it, nowadays!) they’re not to be frakked with, lightly(unless you got canonical FTL reactions or something along those lines!)
Wow the day I’m at the movies with my girlfriend this gets posted.
Okay first Dresden has his armor from Changes for this match which is more durable than his Duster so any defense feats are lowballing.
here is the scenario I had created second go round.
Dresden discovers the ancient nature of Kratos magic and prepares for the battle.
Dresden has his staff blasting rod sword cane shield bracelet necklace allowing access to the ways kinetic rings and is wearing his Winter Knight armor.
Kratos has his God of War 3 equipment and magics.
If Dresden stomps he gets downgraded to just his Duster.
If Kratos stomps he loses the Blade of Olympus.”
As for Kratos’ strength:
-
CIDE did these calcs here:
-
www.factpiletopia.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=3825
-
The end result was 28.2 KT. The Hiroshima Bomb was 15 KT so Kratos striking strength would be almost twice the destructive power the the Hiroshima Bomb
-
Yeah, unless Dresden’s shield can tank nuclear level strikes, a single hit from Kratos will level the shield and Dresden (given Dresden has normal human durability from what I know)
@IL
unlikely. the magnetic metals are iron, cobalt, and nickel. due to those being components, alloys, and impurities in nearly everything, magnetisim has quite a hold. however, if we are to believe the game, as it doesnt say otherwise, the golden fleece is, well, gold. not to mention kratos has an impressive grip on his weapons. capable of hanging onto them in gow 1 for a decent amount of time against what was basically a black hole. i can only imagine how well he could hold onto somehthing that is actually attached to his arm.
@Admiral
So what was it like, exactly?
You watched the Avengers movie lately, or you already saw it before today?
I suppose you know the drill in this latest fight for Dresden, right?(Y’know, the DYDLTAE matter that I mentioned highly on this site?)
“The fleece and his weapons could do more harm then good considering Dresden’s magnetic abilities allowing him to fling them around and uses a weapons against Kratos.”
-
How powerful are these magnetic abilities? Like with the Black Templar (i think) its possible that Kratos’ physical power might be enough to overpower it
@SR
actually, since his calc is just under twice, it would technically have to be a double nuke sheild. even something capable of holding a nuke would only be half as strong as is needed
Basically Kratos has Class T+ striking strength
-
As for Kratos’ other powers, theres petrification with the Gorgon Soul, soundwaves with the Siren Soul, light projection with the Head of Helios, soul ripping with the Claws of Hades, energy waves with the Nemean Cestus, rain of ethereal arrows with the Arms of Sparta and the Bow of Apollo which rapid fires arrows
-
How do Dresden counter those?
More Magnatism
“Raith had to step back for a second, because a shard from the shattering knife had gone through his hand. He ripped it out of his flesh with a snarl, then turned back to Thomas, and as he did I got the bodyguard’s keys in a magnetic grip and threw them hard at Lord Raith’s face.
Keys are a nasty missile weapon, and any street fighter will tell you so. For fun, get yourself a milk carton and throw a ring of keys at it. You don’t even have to throw it very hard. Odds are better than merely good that the milk carton is going to have holes in it and that milk is going to be dribbling out everywhere.
And eyelids are way thinner than milk cartons.
Raith got a bunch of keys in the face and they hit him hard enough to make him scream. I caught them again on the rebound and sent them zipping back at him, as if they’d been fastened to rubber bands tied to his nose. I don’t care how superhumanly sexy you are, if you’re a vertically symmetrical biped, you don’t have much choice but to react when something tries to put out your eyes.
I pummeled Raith with the keys until he ducked out of the light of the black candles, and then I sent them darting over to Thomas. I shouted his name as I did, and he reached up and caught them with his free hand. He shook one out without delay, and started freeing himself of his chains.
Blood Rites, Chap 41
I found this in the respect thread, make of it what you must, but it shows more on Dresden’s magnetic abilities!
Laconic: Don’t underestimate a Pumpkin-head who’s got nada to lose!
Question. Can’t Dresden just shoot Kratos in the head? Seems like an easy way to win.
-
Second question. Where does this Mach 6 calc come from, and how does that mean he has Mach 6 reactions? Remember, being able to move Mach 6 =/= moving arms or the such at that speed.
-
Third question. Where have we seen a 15 KT hit from Kratos, and what is it based off of?
@Commander
I saw the Avengers, and the Raven.
Also as I said if Kratos stomps he loses Blade of Olympus and if needed the boots of Hermes
It appears I was slightly ninja’d, even if it means I just didn’t read. My questions not about strength still stand, though.
both are god-awful pieces of trash
@Admiral
Hope they were worthwhile and worth the tickets.
Methinks the Avengers movie may help to just inspire a possible match to set up in the VMA, provided Dresden + Haseo are also in on it(we just gotta find a Hulk counterpart who’d work well, among other things!)
So back to fight at hand?
I am also aware if Dresden stomps in his favor, he’s reduced to his Duster, right?
@Councilor Aelfinn
If it helps, you are not alone in regards like those, I’m sure.
