Making her first debut on the site is a personal favourite character of mine, Lightning! Going up against Link.
For this battle it will be the Oricana of Time version of Link fighting.

I know I’m not Negative Zero, but the Great Fairy sword does not allow Link to fire beams. It’s only the Fierce Deity Mask that allows this.

Determining reaction time is best done during cut-scenes, and the battle isn’t a cut-scene. At best, Link was probably ten feet away from Ganondorf. The blast acts more like a comic book panel because Ganondorf charges up that magic sphere, and then it goes toward the screen. Next thing you see is Link falling back.

That’s vague. It still doesn’t mean Fierce Deity has city level destruction if that’s what you’re trying to get at. Batman defeating Superman wouldn’t mean Batman is equal to Superman in destructive power. It just means he exploited a flaw in Superman, i.e., weakness to Kryptonite. It’s the same thing here.

More like Lightning hoping to find him. Ever. To busy walking endless boring corridors with cut scenes and an auto-attack that kills all the enemies without you pressing a button.

That said, in a ‘Pure’ Swordfight, N64!-Link vs Lightning could go either way in theory, but outside of that…I don’t know.
Amen in terms of explorations on the Fierce Deity itself, though.

Lightning is not as fast as lightning (see what I did there?)
I dislike lightning, I prefer many Final Fantasy ladies over her, Terra being my favorite (She can also stomp lightning).

Perhaps that may be the case, but when one mentions the factpiler of the same name who arrives here as fast as Lightning, one must find it intriguing to imagine how to make plays-on-words in their most effective manner, wouldn’t you think?
To each their own, I have no intention to blitz out your mind and I hope that vice-versa won’t happen, either.

I haven’t played FF13 but I did some research and Lightning doesn’t wear any armor just accessories like ribbon. Not to mention FF magic sort of a flaw. Inside of battle the magic is good & pretty amazing. outside of battle magic is almost useless. Except for status effects & heals, magic in FF is mainly burst, massive damage all at once. Not to mention when she does need to heal she’ll have somehow make time for it. But Link would be hot on her trail. Alot of Link’s items, magic, etc. are both effective outside & inside of combat. with enough prep time he could take on Lightning with ease.

Unless proven otherwise Lightning can’t target Link w/ magic, or other abilities because he is technically “invisible.” In short Link can go for a stealth kill.

I know what the Stone Mask is. There are a few issues here.
1) Gerudo guards can see through the stone mask just fine. Why is this? As far as I can tell, it’s because they’re just being particularly vigilant and watchful. Which, considering she’s fighting for her life, is exactly what Lightning will be too.
2) It’s very possible Link doesn’t have the Stone Mask. The stipulations clearly say this is OoT Link, and while I know OoT Link and MM Link are technically the same person, he never has all the stuff from both games due to time travel. Either he’s got all his OoT stuff, or all his MM stuff, not both. And since the stipulations say OoT…
Unless it was previously clarified to be a composite of both, of course.

And reaching into his pocket, grabbing a nut, and tossing it somehow out-speeds Lightning quick-drawing her gun and shooting Link in the face?
Also, I think you’re drastically underestimating Lightning’s physical combat ability. She’s not going to stand there and let herself get pelted by stuff Link is throwing at her. Have you seen current incarnation Lightnig fight?

And considering the fight’s not over, she’d know he’s still alive and either start jumping around looking for him, or spamming AOE magic all over the damn place hoping to hit him, pending whether or not ‘invisible’ or ‘fled the scene’ is the conclusion she comes to.

Why the hell not? Just because someone is invisible doesn’t mean you can’t shoot stuff at them. It just means you’ll probably miss. That’s where AOE comes in.

On another note, Lightning gets Odin for this match, correct? This means she can fly. That limits Link, essentially, his bow. Conversely, Lightning’s got all her magic and her gun.

Also, I’m not aware of OoT/MM Link having any defense against gravity manipulation, which Lightning does. A lot.

The guy who posted never said anything about Odin. As for gravity manipulation. Iron Boots could resist lower gravity stuff. Hover Boots apparently make Link very light, but has no traction.

Didn’t know this match existed, Current Incarnation I assume for Lightning, if so she should take it handily, faster RT, guns, plethora of magical abilities. odin, since he’s not outside help , Odin’s barrier, and Self rez through odin being out. Most of this is in the Kratos vs Lightning thread too as well a s a detailed breakdown of her abilities.

Knocks Caius through a few stone and steel buildings 9:00-9:15
12:16-12:30 summons bahamut
17:54 and on Lighning Tanks a meteor and survives to keep fighting Caius for months in valhalla

At :26 we see another CPU controlled Lightning spamming Debuffs , Poison,Debrave(50% less Physical damage),Deprotect(50% less magic damage), Imperil(makes enemies twice as suseptible to elemental magic), Dispel (assuming Magic=magic here this will cancel any magic Link Attempts to use)and Slow(self explanitory)
At 2:48 and 4:29 We see the Buffs , Haste, Protectra(doubles Durabilty to Physical damage), Shellra(same as above but for magic),Faithra and Bravera Double damage output by magical and physical means respectively.) I cant seem to find any Videos of stop magic yet though ill look some more. Halving Links’ speed while doubling her own along with her Eidolons is more than enough to evade anything Link can bring and even if he does manage to land a hit at half power her durability is also doubled. All of this can be used with a wave of the hand to the tune of 6 spells in 4 seconds

OoT Link is a very durable character indeed…but Lightning makes mincemeat out of him, as the poor Hylian is outclassed in pretty much every way. Is this even worthy of an FP?

the number I recall is 200 but I didnt have a quote to support, Basically the time it took for Noel and Serah to get to valhalla, so a couple months seemed reasonable
