IB with Lightning just cause of the setting she’s in with the guns and bombs and what not, but I always lose track of what Link has what items, so he could still have magical hax maybe.
Well since this is ocarina of time link that means this is also majora’s mask link right?
Oh yeah it’s the same guy between those two games. Well more shit in the sack for Link then, can’t hurt him.
Negative nerd is going to love this match than
Lighting distracts him with her boobies :]
Doesn’t Lightning have guns of some sort?
-
Anyway, if Link also has access to Majora’s Mask items then he’ll quite an arsenal for this match.
@NZ
She has guns right on her chest
BAM!
I’ll wait for more feats but I’m going to root for the new girl for now.
@Carmin
The only guns that ever matter lol.
@ Negative Zero
She has her gunblade regardless of incarnation, though i take it this is lightning FF13.
Pretty close fight….I’m going with Lightning on this one. She has healing magic, every basic element magic, and her sword’s not too shabby either
Also Lightning is able to jump huge distances thanks to a lightning device that cushions the fall. I’d also wager that she’s faster than Link
@DReager1
You mean the AMP Anti Matter Principal.
for what i recall its making the user capeble of creating zero gravity fields. allowing the user to survive falls from great hights. its a nice addition to lightning but i value her magic and swordplay more.
-
Also i would pick lightning over link knowing her powers as L,Cie. even though she isn’t allowed to summon odin she can still pack a mean punch to link from what i heard about his incarnation we’re using.

Are Odin or those monsters she summons in XIII-2 allowed for Lightning or do those count as outside help?
Light’s AMP was lost in the beginning of XIII IIRC.
winner of this fight vs zack fair
@Soldier’s Shadow
Lightning vs Caius is invalid. this is most likely FF13 since no incarnation but just a damn picture was given. also FF13-2 lightning might be a bit to OP for this match.
-
Odin is by FP rules forbidden as you were right to suspect. i personally love odin a lot but he isn’t allowed to participate in this match.
-
And recall FF13 at the end where Lightning and CO get back to cocoon. they make a nice jump with the help of AMP. Fang said to vanille at this point that this is how people on cocoon get around. just to be corrected with the line this is how lightning gets around.
maybe brings back a memory
Lightning vs Caius is valid as we go by current incarnation according to FP rules as it wasn’t specified as to which incarnation of Light is present.
The one with the guns wins. If Link becomes a Goron, I suppose that will add some defense for him, but I don’t know how much punishment he could take before falling.
can link aim dodge?
“can link aim dodge?”
in orcarina of time? as far as i remember yes
@Chuck inglish:
“can link aim dodge?”
-
Anyone can aim dodge.
This fight=Castration of the latest Iron Man match against the Dreadnought, due to the idiotic management of that match!
Why are people pretending this badass fight doesn’t exist?
Its N64 Link vs Lightning, c’mon people!!!
Lightning strikes and Link falls
there I got that out of my system
If the XIII-2 version is too OP for this battle, it will be the XIII version.
@Hitman
Thanks.
I also hope that the Admiral follows through with Alaric vs Dresdenverse Skinwalker to plan out, I want no chances taken after that horrid summoning of the idiot who suggested I.Man vs Dreadnought, actually!
@Hellion Nick Yeah, that’s what I meant, Lightning gets overpowered? Great! I really need to pick up that game, I own the first, but I’m waiting for the price to go down to get it. Anyway sounds like everyone picks Link, but it’s not a downright stomp right? So FP award time
“Lightning vs Caius is valid as we go by current incarnation according to FP rules as it wasn’t specified as to which incarnation of Light is present.”
well i’ll be damned, being new to FP really means i got to start remembering all the damn rules.
-
then again yes FF13-2 lightning is the guardian of etro and for that matter is practicly onto a god.
now i know god deity or any of those titles go for nothing here on FP, but lightning has show some powers in FF13-2 that she clearly couldn’t have achieved in FF13 as a L,Cie. showing she grew tremendously in power.
-
for what i heard about the incarnation on link i do have to say that FF13 lightning might turn out to be interesting.
@Hitman
—
I can’t say if the new Light would be too much for Link or not as I have yet to play the game or skim through the cutscenes at the very least.
Lightning shows him her guns, and BAM$!@ he’s a dead little kid.
Lightning has guns, unless Link can do anything quickly, then im going to assume that this will be similar to Dante vs Kratos
how good is lightning in mele combat? just wondering.
I thought this was meant to be relatively speaking a swordfight, for the most part.
(Again!!!)
Man, don’t tell me officer N.Z’s gonna have a cow!
Basically this is like Dante vs Kratos again
-
Where guns pretty much give Lightning the win from the looks of things
“Where guns pretty much give Lightning the win from the looks of things”
sounds like zack have been a better oponent
“sounds like zack have been a better oponent”
-
Probably
Man…would this fight be better if it were a matter of swordsmanship?(and I’m aware that N64 Link didn’t get raised for swordsmanship properly, compared to LttP/Oracles/L.A Link, but C’mon, here!!!)
I think Lightning takes this relatively easily. With Odin, Zantetsuken and Army of One on her side, not to mention her magic and her gunblade, it’s pretty much a stomp.
And are you talking about Zack Fair? Because that would be an AWESOME fight. Zack would probably win though…
“And are you talking about Zack Fair? Because that would be an AWESOME fight. Zack would probably win though…”
-
Yeah, we think Lightning vs Zack Fair would be a better match
-
And like I said, Dante vs Kratos again….
Dante vs Kratos was classic. That debate went on forever! Dante barely won eh
Yet this match is better than the other one that got posted today, why?
Because Lightning and Link are cooler than Iron Man and that other guy
“That debate went on forever!”
-
Only because of retards like gendrons, otherwise Dante would have won by page 3
-
“Dante barely won eh”
-
Yeah, Dante got the FPA, though not in the way me and others were hoping =/
Still trying to rinse my eyes out from that eye-gouging match with the Dreadnought vs Iron Man, in here.
Its not working!!!
Dante barely won? that was over the first page, it was trolls that kept it going, they are the only explanation to how some ridiculous matches get awarded when they should have died in the first page.
@OMEGAMI
Easy, now’s not best time to show Trolloc war syndromes, trust me when I say this from Exp, alright?
You know, things could play out differently if both characters start out at a distance. The only problem is that Nayru’s Love lasts for 1 minute, and start-up time is an issue. Yeah, this match isn’t fair. People need to consider these things in the future.
Yeah, Pyre and OriginalA pretty much nailed Dantes victory on Page 1
-
gendrons and hellboy dragged it on pointlessly with their poor evidence for their claims of Kratos’ abilities
LoZ takes its 5th loss in a row. Boom
Eh, guns are tough to get around for the gun-less. However, there is always the Stone Mask.
Unless you have superhuman durability, which Link doesn’t exactly demonstrate to my knowledge
Link: Elfus imitatus
Lightning: Breastus hugeus
Some of the Link’s have demostrated some good durability feats.
But it helped Dante get an award, poorly debated and short debates don’t get awards, look at Samus vs Lara, that was suppose to die a long time ago but thanks to one user it got dragged long enough for Samus to get her award, if all debates had a troll on the other side then everybody will get ridicules reward, imagine Dante vs The Teletubbies, Put in a troll willing to drag it and BANG!!! Dante gets an extra point out of an unfare match.
“But it helped Dante get an award”
-
Yeah, but not in the way me and others were hoping for =[
“Link: Elfus imitatus
Lightning: Breastus hugeus”
lol
How good is Lightning against invisible opponents?
“how good is lightning in mele combat? just wondering.”
===
Check out the links I posted above. She’s fairly strong in it as she deflected an attack from Chaos Bahamut and a sword beam from Caius that created massive area damage. She’s fairly nimble too and has some unarmed combat skill going by how she disarmed that PSICOM troop but I wouldn’t give her too much credit there as Snow later said those troops were green.
===
That said, I don’t think she has enough physical strength to overpower Link.
===
“sounds like zack have been a better oponent”
===
Zack’s able to react to assault rifle fire from several directions, Light hasn’t shown any speed feats on that level. Barring speed, they’d be decently matched.
@OMEGAMI
True enough, but in general its still too risky.
@Squire
You can say that again, in fact I dare you to say it again!
@cross
lol
@ss
“Zack’s able to react to assault rifle fire from several directions, Light hasn’t shown any speed feats on that level. Barring speed, they’d be decently matched.”
so in your opinion would it be worth suggesting or do you have any other ideas for an oponent for zack
@Squire
JIC, you agree that this match is best to be resolved in a swordfight?
Anyway, dat Stone Mask might help a bit.
@Officer N.Z/Mad-Eye Morgan
We know, I’m just asking how does Lightning fare against Invisible opponents, here.
N64 Link can become unnoticable, not full blown invisible. He can however, see invisible things with the Lens of Truth.
@Officer N.Z/Mad-Eye Morgan
N64 Link will sure as Tartarus itself need those in case there’s no sub-scenario where its a relatively ‘pure’ swordfight that will determine the overall outcome of the match, itself, if you ask me!
Well Link is a lightning timer B)
You don’t say Carmine :maybe:
“Anyway, dat Stone Mask might help a bit.”
—
How long does it last?
—
“N64 Link can become unnoticable, not full blown invisible. He can however, see invisible things with the Lens of Truth.”
—
Unnoticeable? Explain, please.
“so in your opinion would it be worth suggesting or do you have any other ideas for an oponent for zack”
===
I think we’d be better off finding a different opponent for Zack than Light simply due to the speed difference.
===
I still say Walter or Anderson from Hellsing.
“How long does it last?”
As long as he’s wearing it.
-
“Unnoticeable? Explain, please.”
It makes Link “as plain as a stone”. Enemies and even bosses payed no attention to him when wearing it.
How durable is he with the Stone Mask?
What does durability have anything to do with the Stone Mask? It doesn’t effect his durability.
Oh I thought it made him more durable instead of unnoticeable. Dammit
-
Reading comprehension fail on my part
I wonder what would lighting look like is she was a strong muscular man?
“It makes Link “as plain as a stone”. Enemies and even bosses payed no attention to him when wearing it.”
===
Sounds kinda like gameplay mechanics to me….though I now have a funny image in my head of that being Link’s version of Solid Snake’s cardboard box.
===
“I wonder what would lighting look like is she was a strong muscular man?”
===
Cloud Strife.
“Cloud Strife.”
-
Do not want
“Sounds kinda like gameplay mechanics to me….”
It’s not. It does exactly what it’s descriptions says.
-
“….though I now have a funny image in my head of that being Link’s version of Solid Snake’s cardboard box.”
Lol it pretty much is.
@Officer N.Z/Mad-Eye Morgan
It would be hilarious if someone could have a match with the Stone Mask vs the Cardbord Box in terms of which one would you rather use, right?
Just let me get more items for the same kind of purposes, its comedy gold in that case.
“It’s not. It does exactly what it’s descriptions says.”
===
Well, I suppose if Link wasn’t directly facing Light and pulled it off he can go for a stealth attack but I don’t think he’d just magically become unnoticeable right in front of her.
@Soldier’s Shadow
As a Watcher of the pile, shall we see if we can divide the match in reason between two sub-scenarios, one where we’re asking whether or not N64 Link can reasonably pull off a stealth kill on Lightning, and the other being an outright swordfight?
@Negative Zero:
“However, there is always the Stone Mask.”
-
True. What do you think of the Giant’s Mask here as well?
-
@Soldier’s Shadow:
“Sounds kinda like gameplay mechanics to me….though I now have a funny image in my head of that being Link’s version of Solid Snake’s cardboard box.”
-
I do recall one time when I was caught by a Gerudo, she said she could see Link. I would probably have to say that the Stone Mask is like when you’re trying to find your keys, and even though you see them, you miss them until eventually you find them right on the table. You think, “I just looked right there!” That may be how the Stone Mask works.
-
I am also reminded of an ability called stealth. It isn’t the same as being invisible. Instead, one can hide behind things which one would not normally be able to hide behind. For example, consider this plant.
-
image.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/56478/56478,1177817665,1/stock-photo-tropical-house-plant-in-a-pot-and-windows-with-blinds-3184036.jpg
-
If anyone stood behind that, you’d be able to see that person. Except, with this stealth ability, if you stood behind that, you would not be noticed. It’s weird, I know. Sometimes someone can just be standing right there and you don’t see that person.
@Proto-Mind
Great to have you here, too.
With you here, Gut hunch says that this match will be feeling more Badass, now!
“True. What do you think of the Giant’s Mask here as well?”
/
Bigger target? I don’t have majora’s mask but can Link use weapons?(Do they also increase in size?)
/
“I am also reminded of an ability called stealth. It isn’t the same as being invisible.”
/
Splinter Cell?
“True. What do you think of the Giant’s Mask here as well?”
He could take more bullets to kill I’d say.
@Officer N.Z/Mad-Eye Morgan
Not to mention that he’d have to be Pwned Like a Boss before the 1st sub-scenario that’s not a ‘pure’ swordfight sees any resolution at all, right?
@Commander Cross:
“Great to have you here, too.
With you here, Gut hunch says that this match will be feeling more Badass, now!”
-
Haha! Thanks. I’m just glad Negative Zero brought up the Stone Mask.
-
@Alpha or Omega:
“Bigger target? I don’t have majora’s mask but can Link use weapons?(Do they also increase in size?)”
-
He’s bigger, yes. If I recall correctly, he can only use his sword. So, either his other items aren’t affected by the mask’s magic for some reason, or it’s a game mechanic.
-
I’m not sure if weapons that use magic would work, though, since using certain magic cancels the use of others. This has been consistent in just about every Zelda game I can possibly think of.
-
“Splinter Cell?”
-
I don’t know how the mechanics work in that game.
-
@Negative Zero:
“He could take more bullets to kill I’d say.”
-
Yep.
@Proto-Mind
All the same, I’d wager that JIC, the sub-scenario to be added should allow for a ‘pure’ swordfight between the two to be available as an option if you ask me!
“He’s bigger, yes. If I recall correctly, he can only use his sword.”
Most likely a game mechanic. Besides, people debate for a giant Kratos using gear he hasn’t used in giant mode.
In GoW1 when he fought Ares all his weapons became huge like him. Thats why its argued that his weapons can become huge when he does
-
Like how he won Aang vs Kratos that way
Didn’t ever happen again though did it?
Ares’ weapons were also huge like him, Claws of Hades were huge like Hades was in giant form when he ripped a Titan off Mt Olympus in the background at one point
-
With that its safe to assume that god-forged weapons in GoW can grow in size like their weilders, hence why Kratos stomped Aang
-
Either way thats beside the point, have any of Links other weapons become huge when he goes giant form?
So is the option for a ‘pure’ swordfight for a viable sub-scenario still doable?
If we can add another round like with Black Templar vs Harry Dresden (although I feel guilty of it tbh after accusing it of being a spite thread) that will make the fight better than ‘Lightning shoots Link and Link dies /thread” then sure I guess
Only Link’s sword and shield were available to use while in giant mode. Still game gameplay mechanics on that though.
*still call
What would link look like if he was a sensitive feminine female?
@S.R
There there, this is much better.
@Officer N.Z/Mad-Eye Morgan
Is this agreeable to add another round, then?
I’m all for it already even if you’re not, but I’d feel all the more eager if you are!
@Carmine
I don’t know.
Probably akin to Arthur’s Gender-flipped Avatar from Fate/Stay Night, as if a Gender-Flipped Potter that may or may not have been inspired by that idea isn’t already confusing enough?
“Still game gameplay mechanics on that though.”
-
Yeah, thing is, none of Links other weapons have shown to grow in size at all, thus you have no real premise for it being a gameplay resitriction
-
Unlike with Kratos where him and several gods have had their weapons shown to grow in size with them
