What If…You Were Selected For A Hunger Game?

What If...You Were Selected For A Hunger Game?

Suggested by Akibahara

Congratulations!

You’ve been selected to participate in the next Hunger Games! Though the rules have been slightly changed… in your case, that is.

While everyone in this Hunger Game remains 12-18, somehow, you’re allowed in to compete despite your age!

How do you fare?

    @epicazeroth

    The hunger games has no default environment sometimes it could be a island in the middle of an ocean or a city in ruins there is how ever 3 things that will always be in that environment

    Water

    Food Source

    Wood.

  2. epicazeroth April 17, 2012 at 7:48 pm -      #602

    I know, that’s why I asked where.

  3. Carmine April 17, 2012 at 7:50 pm -      #603

    We have to go by random until Akibahara tells us which type of environment.

  4. mrgendrons 2.0 April 17, 2012 at 7:54 pm -      #604

    @epicazeroth
    yeah most of us have common sense for a life or death situation.

    here another one. get sponsored by the military to get a 100 megaton nuke that could engulf the whole battle feild. and give me the detonator or multiple thus if i drop the button acedentaily gets pressed :wink:
    \—
    or as i said before brun down the Forrest in the dome to kill them,steal the bow and hoard meds. like a non retarded person would do.

  6. Carmine April 17, 2012 at 7:57 pm -      #606

    ^ You’d die in the fire if you set the forest in fire there’s an energy shield that prevents you from fleeing the battle field, you’d get killed anyway the second you try to horde meds or take the bow from the careers

    @Carmine
    not to mention they can either go to one or the other.(weapons or meds) im sprinter my self(fifty meter in 6.1) i could easily get to one of them perferably the meds thus heal my self if i screw up then my next problem would by the female archer. ide have to sneak up as i know some boxing and get a default knife.

    1. Until it reaches the force field and than begins to build up which will lead it to spreading every where.

    2.Grass catches on fire than you catch on fire and become the boy on fire XD

    3.Sponsors also give gas masks to the careers and they hunt you down

    4.The game masters dry the river up and start dropping tree’s on you for camping

    Where’s my FP award for Fthis?

  14. Carmine April 17, 2012 at 9:24 pm -      #614

    @Zombaked

    You never proved you can take on 24 tributes, Katniss won mostly due to her survival skill and luck + plot.

  15. the_man_with The_Answers April 17, 2012 at 9:44 pm -      #615

    “(fifty meter in 6.1)”
    -
    That’s not particularly impressive. I’m a distance runner to the core and I can and have done that. Sprinting speciality isn’t going to count for shit against teenagers that have become proffessional survival-killers and against an environment that can be easily designed to kill you at any moment.

  16. CH1C4N0444 April 17, 2012 at 10:21 pm -      #616

    Although I know I wouldn’t win I think I might end up being in the top 6. The character weren’t all that impressive. The only character that was actually given a strength feat was Peeta who could lift 100lbs which isn’t that impressive. Thresh and Cato were hyped about a lot in the book(Cato more so than Thresh)and even then Cato wasn’t all that impressive, a wounded Peeta was able to hold him off long enough to escape, granted Cato was stung by a traker jacker, but so was Peeta. It’s alluded that Thresh was killed by Cato, how that happened I’ll never know. I have some martial arts skills so I know how to hold my own H2H. I’m small(5’7 185lbs) so facing up against much bigger opponents won’t be knew to me(I’ve taken a friend of mine who’s 6’3-6’4ish bout 190-180lbs and won effortlessly). I’ve wrestled some friends that were stronger than me and had more experience still beat them. I’m somewhat strong, bench is 185, leg press is 765, squat is above 295(after 1 week of starting it I got that far and I could’ve gone further but I hate squatting), I can 1 leg calf raise 315, my curling is about 35, and I’ve picked up someone around 190ishlbs. Speed, I’m very slow so I can easily be outran or can be caought up to, and currently I am very out of shape(but after the training the capital gives me I think that could change a little bit, not much though). But there’s still the whole fact that not everything will be H2H so Katniss or one of the others who would have range on me would kill me. And if they don’t hunger, thirst, environment, gamemakers, exhaustion, etc would end me.

  17. CH1C4N0444 April 17, 2012 at 10:23 pm -      #617

    God I wish I could take my comments off sometimes. Like the one I just made above. Any ways how or am I fucked having to leave that there?

  18. Messmaker April 18, 2012 at 1:55 pm -      #618

    the strength feats you mentioned werent that good. the people in the tournament are people (in most cases) used to hard physical labor. i believe the 100 lb thing was “with ease”, meaning he did that regularly (flour bags. he was a baker). i doubt you could match that.

  19. Negative Zero April 18, 2012 at 2:20 pm -      #619

    -
    That’s sprinting. You need stamina. Like 100+on the pacer test.
    -
    @carmine
    No hes taking a break to play videogames and he said hes falling behind in school or something.

  21. epicazeroth April 18, 2012 at 3:50 pm -      #621

    I have 100+ pacer score. But I still die with ease, I’m just too young.

  22. Messmaker April 18, 2012 at 4:00 pm -      #622

    How old are you?

  23. epicazeroth April 18, 2012 at 4:56 pm -      #623

    Ok, not really just too young, but I also have no training that will help me.

  24. the_man_with The_Answers April 18, 2012 at 5:50 pm -      #624

    “You need stamina. Like 100+on the pacer test.”
    -
    Pfffff, the PACER Test. My 5 kilometer pace, on an off day, gets me over 100 easy. Let alone actually starting easy and working into an actual sprint. The PACER test is what in total, 3,000m-4,000m? After having completed a few warrior runs, I scoff at the PACER test. Though one thing I still hanvn’t got around to doing is a marathon……

  25. jackn8r April 18, 2012 at 6:24 pm -      #625

    “Pfffff, the PACER Test. My 5 kilometer pace, on an off day, gets me over 100 easy.”
    -
    The whole point is making you run faster the more tired you get. For anyone who wants I think I have a copy of it. Just out of curiosity what is your 5k time?
    -
    “The PACER test is what in total, 3,000m-4,000m?”
    -
    No…………100 is 2,000m but…….it increasingly gets faster. Its the PACER test, the first 20 or so is walking speed. The speed you’re at at 100 is about 5 meters a second. And it goes up a little past 200 if I believe.

  26. CH1C4N0444 April 18, 2012 at 8:56 pm -      #626

    @Messmaker 100lbs isn’t that impressive either, I can do that effortlessly tambien(Spanish for as well or too) the most I’ve ever picked up was a 250-30lbs guy effortlessly. I ran around with him after lifting him up. Reason I didn’t mention him in the first stupid post I made here(seriously can I take that off or is that not possible?) was because I didn’t throw him over my shoulder and run like I did the 190lbs guy.

  27. the_man_with The_Answers April 18, 2012 at 9:30 pm -      #627

    “The whole point is making you run faster the more tired you get. For anyone who wants I think I have a copy of it. Just out of curiosity what is your 5k time?”
    -
    Yes, I know, I’ve done it before.
    Oh, and my 5k time is 17:13. Though I have never ran on a completely flat course (I refuse to run 20 or so laps on a track at any one time. Death via boredom).
    -
    “The speed you’re at at 100 is about 5 meters a second. And it goes up a little past 200 if I believe”
    -
    5 m/s is an 18:00 5K, except you hold that pace for the duration of the 5,000m. And 200 x 20m is 4,000m. Regardless, I don’t think I need to question my running skill. Strength, maybe. I’m not weak, but I’m not a weight lifter either. I think my max is somewhere around 150-160lbs.

  28. Hermit April 18, 2012 at 9:55 pm -      #628

    My 5 kilometer time is more than thirty, because I walked and I was not in a race.
    -
    Although I can walk an entire day (in a rural area) without tiring given I take a break every hour or so.
    And that’s while carrying a pack.

  29. mrgendrons 2.0 April 18, 2012 at 10:18 pm -      #629

    ehh im best running in a overcast/rain storm
    but i can keep a steady pace. run a few km without stopping ifirc i usually can run 5 k in about 16:36 min. with an 8 la in about 9:39

    -
    Nobody that says they have a 16:36 5K and 9:39 3.2k says they can run a few kilometers at a steady pace. I hope you realise those are top-tier running times that would actually get you into D1 and D2 schools. The fact that you are oblivious to this points that you are lying. People that achieve those times don’t go “IIRC” they know each of their PRs down to their core. Trust me, I’ve been on teams and against teams with these types of runners (Many of which are aquintences, friends, even some close friends). you ask them their PR and it doesn’t take them a second to recall exactly what it is.

    You don’t understand.
    When I said “effortlessly”, I ment that he picks up 80 lb bags of flour over and over again, every weekend, all day.
    With little effort.

  33. CH1C4N0444 April 19, 2012 at 12:39 am -      #633

    Once you get to that point that’s just endurance not actual strength.

    -
    what you gusy think what happened

  37. epicazeroth April 19, 2012 at 6:35 pm -      #637

    @FactBehemoth: Do you mean you can do all that, or you would learn it? Cause they only give you a few days to train. If I understand correctly, then this is you AS YOU ARE, then you get the training the Capitol gives you, then you go to the Games.

  38. jackn8r April 19, 2012 at 8:33 pm -      #638

    @All
    DReager stated on the topia he was taking a 2 week break to catch up on schoolwork, video games, and book.
    -
    -
    -
    “Yes, I know, I’ve done it before.

    -
    Why not listen to music on a flat course? And yes I agree with you. Running that many laps on a track is boring.
    -
    “5 m/s is an 18:00 5K, except you hold that pace for the duration of the 5,000m.”
    -
    Isn’t it 16.6 minutes? 5 m/s X 1000= 5k in 1000 seconds. Or 16.6 minutes.
    -
    “Regardless, I don’t think I need to question my running skill. Strength, maybe. I’m not weak, but I’m not a weight lifter either. I think my max is somewhere around 150-160lbs.”
    -
    You’ve got me beat. But I’m certain you’re older than me. Either way, a 5k time of that is good enough for the hunger games.

  39. StealthRanger April 19, 2012 at 8:34 pm -      #639

    “DReager stated on the topia he was taking a 2 week break to catch up on schoolwork, video games, and book.”

    Too bad DReager isn’t here to enjoy DReager not being here (10 points if you get the ref)

  40. jackn8r April 19, 2012 at 8:52 pm -      #640

    What can said points be used for?

  41. Messmaker April 20, 2012 at 12:38 am -      #641

    No idea ^
    -
    One way to get out easier would be to memorize the US army/SAS survival guides.
    Between them, you’ve got a dozen Mankiller traps, field expedient weapons, food, shelter, and camo.

  42. StealthRanger April 20, 2012 at 12:59 am -      #642

    “What can said points be used for?”
    -
    Whatever you want to use them for I guess

  43. FactBehemoth April 20, 2012 at 1:41 am -      #643

    /
    the movie or the books took place in a post apocalyptic background
    /
    if i were them my mentality knowing the hunger games i will train myself

  44. epicazeroth April 20, 2012 at 4:18 pm -      #644

    You do not live there. Regardless, what if you’re from 12?

  45. MeIsNid April 29, 2012 at 2:58 am -      #645

    yay first post here…
    anyways should i be picked for that event i would have a rugged time…
    firstly i would train how to make wooden weapons (spear, bow&arrow, claws/gauntlets methinks) then basic survival skills of course…
    then probably just hang around in the trees shootin’ everything that moves

  46. The Lost Guy on the Lost Planet April 29, 2012 at 3:40 am -      #646

    wuld they confiscate a gasmask? if not i will be the best dressed and prepared for breathing in smoke… so barbacue time! hehehe… i have a trench coat, a gasmask and soon an officers uniform.

    and have we confirmed a battlefield yet?

  47. TheSorrow April 29, 2012 at 3:41 am -      #647

    Probably the same place the Hunger Games are.

  48. The Lost Guy on the Lost Planet April 29, 2012 at 3:47 am -      #648

    ahhh…. and my gasmask’n'trench coat? would they be confiscated?

  49. TheSorrow April 29, 2012 at 3:50 am -      #649

    No clue, but my guess is they wouldn’t allow anyone to have any outside items to alleviate any extra advantages.

  50. Soulerous April 29, 2012 at 5:57 pm -      #650

    The Hunger Games allow no outside items save casual clothes.

  51. Shakesperian Galloway May 1, 2012 at 5:34 am -      #651

    Well, honestly I don’t think I would last long at all.
    I have quite good endurance and strength but regardless it will still be quite hard to do.

  52. The Lost Guy on the Lost Planet May 1, 2012 at 5:51 am -      #652

    well… technically a trench coat can be cassual clothing… and gasmasks could if you lived in chernobyl. so problem solved! along with my uniform ill be best dressed to die!

  53. DReager1 May 1, 2012 at 5:00 pm -      #653

    @Everyone except Jack Why did you all think I was banned? I just left, but I’m back now.

    -

    @Destroyer14 Well you could last a while, but aside form being tactical you need a lot of raw skills and experience.

  54. Fawkes May 2, 2012 at 12:13 am -      #654

    I’d die most likely in terms of combat.I’m eighteen and strong,but not very strong.I’d rely more on my words than knife.I’m very charasmstic when it comes to people.Most likely i’d befriend much stronger people to fight for me while I plan everyone’s death.Like I said though in combat against trained people i ‘d die.Best bet is to con my way,and be a back stabber.I would feel awful though,so even if some miracle happened and I won i ‘d likely be thrown into a deeper depression than I am currently.

  55. Commander Cross May 2, 2012 at 12:19 am -      #655

    You share the same name as a Phoenix who’d be considered an old friend, in fact. :cry:
    Are you new?

  56. Fawkes May 2, 2012 at 12:46 am -      #656

    @Commander

    I’ve been at factpile for maybe four years or so,my lifes kimd of passed me by.I am new to posting since I only know of some topics discussed on the site.This one for example I know quite a lot about.I’m an old friend to anyone who has a mind,and being that is theirs.

  57. OriginalA May 2, 2012 at 12:47 am -      #657

    I’m still all for just running everyone over with my car.

  58. Commander Cross May 2, 2012 at 12:54 am -      #658

    @Fawkes

    Then as an honest factpiler, You are a friend!
    @Messenger OriginalA

    True enough, I’ll just try and look away if I can, alright?
    Also I hope we can have a meaningful conversation at some point with that series!

  59. cwkolchin May 2, 2012 at 6:26 pm -      #659

    this is easy i would form an alliance with other tributes before the game begins .

  60. Imperfectly Perfect Symmetry June 16, 2012 at 12:32 am -      #660

    What about hunger games scenario where fellow Factpilers were put up against each other?? Who would you partner up with and do you think you would win against your fellow debaters in a fight to the death??

  61. TheSorrow June 16, 2012 at 12:56 am -      #661

    I wouldn’t trust anybody enough to partner with them. Especially if only one person can get out alive. If it means surviving, then to hell with sympathy.

  62. Soulerous June 17, 2012 at 7:46 pm -      #662

    I wouldn’t trust anybody enough to partner with them.
    -You only have to trust them to not turn on you as long as it is in your mutual benefit.
    =
    Especially if only one person can get out alive.
    -There are ways around this, as Katniss discovered. I’d be all for refusing to end the game the way they wanted me to.
    =
    I don’t know enough about the physical state of the other Factpilers to decide who I would ally with. I’d just as soon go solo anyway, unless I could start up a trustworthy rebellion group intent on overthrowing the great jerks responsible for the Hunger Games. If there’s one thing I hate, it is being forced to do things.

  63. Imperfectly Perfect Symmetry June 21, 2012 at 7:37 pm -      #663

    Aww no one would wanna be my partner *pouts*

    In any case though, I would hate to be partnered up with LW :/

  64. Soulerous June 23, 2012 at 9:00 pm -      #664

    Most is well, for now. How is the Pile?

    @Grand General

    We appeared to have recovered from most of the damages of the crisis that pervades November 2011-April 2012, although there’s still some discussions and plans being held to discuss how to best maintain the site’s survival and integrity themselves.

    So far apart from trying to make sure the blood-flow in fresh blood isn’t running dry on us to avert stagnation, we’re still not quite as sharp as we ought to be, methinks.

    “We appeared to have recovered from most of the damages of the crisis that pervades November 2011-April 2012″
    I’ve noticed.
    “although there’s still some discussions and plans being held to discuss how to best maintain the site’s survival and integrity themselves.”
    We have to do our best.
    “So far apart from trying to make sure the blood-flow in fresh blood isn’t running dry on us to avert stagnation, we’re still not quite as sharp as we ought to be, methinks.”
    I take it there has been an influx of decent matches lately?

    @Grand General Rorschach

    We best make sure to keep it up at all costs, last thing the factpile mod council needs is cause for state of emergency.

    Also, Wheel of Time had claimed Victory over Sword of Truth recently.

    Do we have better options available?
    I don’t think so.

    Matter of fact there is, if we can say likewise with an influx of fresh blood in factpile newcomers, we might actually be going somewhere positive, sir!

    Are you a mod? There is a council of mods? Hmmm…
    “Matter of fact there is, if we can say likewise with an influx of fresh blood in factpile newcomers, we might actually be going somewhere positive, sir!”
    Yes, somewhere positive indeed…hopefully.

    @Grand General Rorschach

    No, but I noted on the mods themselves.

    So mind checking up on the VMA thus far, so we can gather on match ideas?
    If yes, may I send you the links?

    @Rorschach
    No, it’s some random guy new to this website who happened to steal the name from another Factpiler, who happened to be homeless at the time roving the streets with his laptop.
    Good news is…I have internet again!
    Better news…I have a home!
    Bad news…might not be for long!
    Good news…Getting married so the above part doesn’t count!!
    But yes Rorschach, it’s me. I honestly have no idea why my gravitar sucks total balls right now though :/

    @Soulerous
    Cuz he would wanna be in charge n then arguments, then infighting, then one of us try to kill each other while sleeping n then the other wakes up….awkward moment arises. Petty stuff like that :/

    I would kill Finnick O’dare first just to piss off one of my worst friends, then go all ape-shit on everyone until they are all dead ( I am using a spear by the way)

  77. Soulerous July 1, 2012 at 6:46 pm -      #677

    That wouldn’t get you killed in seconds.

    Saying you would use a weapon does not equal actually using the weapon x.x Spear handling is a bit hard and tricky, you have to know how to thrust, where to thrust, and the outcomes associated with the attack. “Going apeshit” is the best way to get yourself killed.

    i’d die. like a little bitch. i have no martial arts skills, strength and speed are average, no weapon skills and i was never even close to something similar to killing a human (so even if i beat one of them in combat, i’d probably not kill him). at least some of the guys who will get drawn have prepared for that moment since they were toddlers, and all of them are used to a much tougher live than anyone of us first world people ^^ i say no one who posted on this topic even stands a chance.
