What If…You Were Selected For A Hunger Game?

What If...You Were Selected For A Hunger Game?

Suggested by Akibahara

Congratulations!

You’ve been selected to participate in the next Hunger Games! Though the rules have been slightly changed… in your case, that is.

While everyone in this Hunger Game remains 12-18, somehow, you’re allowed in to compete despite your age!

How do you fare?

    I die. First

  2. Hermit April 14, 2012 at 7:40 am -      #2

    I’ve never watched the movie nor read the books.
    I’m more of a Neil Gaiman fan.

  3. epicazeroth April 14, 2012 at 7:44 am -      #3

    Wait, I don’t get this: While everyone in this Hunger Game remains 12-18, somehow, you’re allowed in to compete despite your age!
    Does it mean that everyone else is the same, but we aren’t because the Capitol loves/hates us?
    Well, I think I die because the only thing I have the remotest chance of surviving is the race to the Cornucopia. Then again, I’m pretty good at Hide-and-Seek…
    -
    Who are we replacing?

  4. Hermit April 14, 2012 at 7:49 am -      #4

    @ epicazeroth
    That just means even if you’re a hundred years old, you’re still allowed to compete.
    -
    Though I would think some ‘Pilers are still in the range of 12-18 years old.
    Soldier’s Shadow for one, I think (s)he’s eighteen now based on that Soldier’s Shadow’s Birthday Present thread a year ago.
    DReager’s been saying he’s 15 going on 16.

  5. StealthRanger April 14, 2012 at 8:05 am -      #5

    Im 17 (turning 18 in July) so im allowed in :D

  6. darthgrim April 14, 2012 at 9:11 am -      #6

    I’m 14 turning 15 in August so I’m in too, haven’t read the books or watched the movies though. Are they any good, do you recommend them?

  7. StealthRanger April 14, 2012 at 9:16 am -      #7

    Anyways, I haven’t read or watched Hunger Games so I can’t say anything here!

  8. Lightning April 14, 2012 at 9:21 am -      #8

    I’m 16. Recently only. I enter. I die. Katniss and Cato are the only ones capable of winning.

  9. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 9:30 am -      #9

    @Hermit 16 going on 17 :D Well I dare say that I pwn epicly and win the whole thing, thanks to my awesome running skills

  10. Mister Teal April 14, 2012 at 9:36 am -      #10

    I kill everyone while they’re sleeping. Just like that whore shoulda’ done.

  11. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 9:36 am -      #11

    ……That would actually have worked! 0-0

  12. Soldier's Shadow April 14, 2012 at 9:37 am -      #12

    What Teal said.

  13. Lightning April 14, 2012 at 9:38 am -      #13

    LOL @ above responses.
    You guys think you can take down the elite 4? Cato would fuck you idiots over. They were trained since young for this. You think they wouldn’t have prepared for this reaction?

  14. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 9:39 am -      #14

    They’re good……but we’re better! After all…..we saw the film and know what they’re gonna do :D

  15. Lightning April 14, 2012 at 9:40 am -      #15

    I would also like to point out the fact that the Elite 4 have at least 1 person on guard the whole time. Killing them? Pfffff.

  16. Mister Teal April 14, 2012 at 9:40 am -      #16

    “Chicken dinner for one please.”
    -
    That’s what I’d say to the camera at the end.

  17. Mister Teal April 14, 2012 at 9:41 am -      #17

    After I killed everybody.

  18. Lightning April 14, 2012 at 9:41 am -      #18

    Shut up DReager. Only people who read the books know how strong these guys really were. You’ll probably die on the first day.

  19. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 9:41 am -      #19

    I dunno, give me a bow and arrow and I can do……..Actually I kinda stink with a bow. Give me laser blaster or a sword instead :D

  20. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 9:42 am -      #20

    @Lightning FYI I read All of the books And saw the movie! I know that they’re (very) mildly tough, but that won’t stop me

  21. Lightning April 14, 2012 at 9:44 am -      #21

    …… First time I see someone wanking themselves in this site. I have nothing to say.

  22. GuardianAngel1911 April 14, 2012 at 9:44 am -      #22

    19 going on 20, I make it to the final three for sure make a deal with Katniss to take out Cato then while the werewolf things eat him and she aims to mercy kill him she just “accidently” trips and falls into the open jaws of the beasts. Peeta died of infection before we found him

  23. Captain Epic April 14, 2012 at 9:45 am -      #23

    Give me a love story with Jennifer Lawernce and I’m set. So this would be the 74th Games?

  24. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 9:45 am -      #24

    @Lightning Thanks?

  25. Commander Cross April 14, 2012 at 9:46 am -      #25

    @Lightning

    If it helps, we could always send out a mauve shirt from Jason’s camp(don’t say its true name there to prevent CHB spoilers, though) against a ‘Mauve Shirt’ Career if we give them both mere mortal weapons, and see what happens, right?

  26. Lightning April 14, 2012 at 9:46 am -      #26

    @GA
    Please… You would die when the wolves were chasing Katniss and Cato. I doubt you have the same stamina or speed as them. Pfff, you probably die on the first day too.

  27. jackn8r April 14, 2012 at 9:47 am -      #27

    DReager I doubt you would have very good swordfighting skills along with poor blaster aim.

  28. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 9:47 am -      #28

    They weren’t running that fast….we might all make it :D Though I would have ran into the circle with the others in the beginning and gotten some food :D

  29. Commander Cross April 14, 2012 at 9:48 am -      #29

    @Lightning

    The Admiral studied firearms all his life, trust me its doubtful he’d be slain on the 1st day of the thing.
    My offer still stands, though, right?

  30. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 9:48 am -      #30

    @Jack How do you figure? I’ve always dreamed of wielding a sword and pwning :cool: And laser blasters are easy

  31. jackn8r April 14, 2012 at 9:50 am -      #31

    Dreaming isn’t the same as reality. And how would you know blasters are easy if you never used one?

  32. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 9:50 am -      #32

    Star Wars :D As for swordplay, after watching Bleach….I can do anything! Manga really helps you learn how to fight btw

  33. Lightning April 14, 2012 at 9:51 am -      #33

    ……….. I have nothing to say to guys who think they get past the Elite 4 tributes. Unless you’re experienced in martial arts like 4th-5th Dan Black Belt and have major survival training, you’re not making it.

  34. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 9:51 am -      #34

    You really think they were that tough? You need too watch Black Cat ep 1

  35. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 9:52 am -      #35

    @Lightning I’m a Green Belt, so I’m pretty experienced :D

  36. Lightning April 14, 2012 at 9:53 am -      #36

    ^In what? Failing at trolling?

  37. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 9:54 am -      #37

    No…..Taekwando :D

  38. Commander Cross April 14, 2012 at 9:57 am -      #38

    @Lightning

    If I said that back at my home site, we’re discussing Percy vs WindWaker/P.H Link, would you believe me, true or false?

    Meantime in Here…get a week to learn basic survival skills, grab a sword and fight to stay alive.

  39. Hermit April 14, 2012 at 9:57 am -      #39

    I’ll surrender.
    -
    While I do know some fighting, I’ll never be able to match those people.

  40. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 9:57 am -      #40

    @CC Link better be pwning -_-

  41. Lightning April 14, 2012 at 9:58 am -      #41

    @CC
    Link me the site and I’ll check it out.
    -
    @DReager
    Yeah… Imma wait for the cannon blast that announces your death.

  42. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 9:59 am -      #42

    @Lightning You’d be waiting a long time :cool:

  43. Commander Cross April 14, 2012 at 9:59 am -      #43

    Not yet, actually so far it can and would go either way.

    What you’d be better off hoping for, on the other hand, is that the match and discussion for it remains worthwhile, alright?

  44. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 10:00 am -      #44

    All right. But I still think that Link’s gonna win this one :D

  45. Captain Epic April 14, 2012 at 10:01 am -      #45

    See I have the right idea, I’m going to rely on Katniss to keep me alive.

  46. Commander Cross April 14, 2012 at 10:01 am -      #46

    @Lightning

    How about I P.M you the link to the match and you can join in at any time to discuss more of Percy’s feats from there, alright? :D

    As for me…I’ll try to avoid getting spotted until the end, alright?

  47. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 10:02 am -      #47

    @Captain Epic Yeah, but if you stick with her then the full wrath of Snow will be upon you (Since he hates Katniss) You could be in mortal peril 0-0

  48. jackn8r April 14, 2012 at 10:02 am -      #48

    “Star Wars As for swordplay, after watching Bleach….I can do anything! Manga really helps you learn how to fight btw”
    -
    Did you notice how in star wars all the stormtroopers magically miss all the protagonists? Claim plot but that indicates its difficult. Plus clones are trained pretty much from childhood on how to operate weapons like that. And on top of that not all blaster bolts kill in their first shot.
    -
    Watching Manga doesn’t help in learning how to swordfight. If you go out in the hunger games with just the basic knowledge on how to fight but no actual experience at all with your weapons of choice you’re gonna be screwed.

  49. Commander Cross April 14, 2012 at 10:03 am -      #49

    @Captain

    Not at all a too shabby plan, methinks.

  50. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 10:03 am -      #50

    @Jack Trust me, my knowledge still helps. As for the Storm Troopers it’s all Plot Hax and Force hax, added with Luke Skywalker hax and no wonder they couldn’t hit. Trust me, I’d be winning it big :D

  51. jackn8r April 14, 2012 at 10:06 am -      #51

    “@Jack Trust me, my knowledge still helps. As for the Storm Troopers it’s all Plot Hax and Force hax, added with Luke Skywalker hax and no wonder they couldn’t hit. Trust me, I’d be winning it big ”
    -
    And without plot hax and force hax of your own what stopping bullets from hitting you?

  52. Commander Cross April 14, 2012 at 10:06 am -      #52

    Skywalker didn’t start bleeding out any honest hax until Return of the Jedi(unless you count Shadows of the Empire) and the badassery upgrades from there, I can live with.

    The shakespherian overtones, however…its murder! T_T’

    I digress, though, because I harbor no ills against Luke, but c’mon, its just basic knowledge, this isn’t good enough to fight the elite 4!

  53. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 10:07 am -      #53

    @Jack regulations! No members get guns :D

    -
    @CC I still think I could take em…..like a boss!

  54. Commander Cross April 14, 2012 at 10:08 am -      #54

    Except…if you read the original book, some of the members DID get guns!

  55. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 10:08 am -      #55

    Really? I guess I forgot. Well if I got a gun…..I’d be unstoppable :cool:

  56. Commander Cross April 14, 2012 at 10:10 am -      #56

    IF you get a gun, and IF you know how to operate one properly, and IF they don’t get any bulletproof stuff, by then.

  57. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 10:11 am -      #57

    Bulletproof stuff rarely cover everything. Their leg or face will still be open for firing :D

  58. Commander Cross April 14, 2012 at 10:24 am -      #58

    If their knees are exposed…good luck with getting bullets to the knees applied.

  59. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 10:25 am -      #59

    Trust me, I don’t need luck :cool:

  60. jackn8r April 14, 2012 at 10:31 am -      #60

    “Really? I guess I forgot. Well if I got a gun…..I’d be unstoppable ”
    -
    “Trust me, I don’t need luck ”
    -
    Ego

  61. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 10:31 am -      #61

    Ego can help sometimes :D

  62. Commander Cross April 14, 2012 at 10:33 am -      #62

    Too much ego is bad!

  63. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 10:34 am -      #63

    Definitely. Everything in proportion :)

  64. jackn8r April 14, 2012 at 10:40 am -      #64

    When does ego help? Confidence helps in situations but when does an ego get you anywhere?

  65. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 10:40 am -      #65

    It gives you haters which gives you publicity. In this scenario it makes the others start to fear me since I have such a big ego :D

  66. jackn8r April 14, 2012 at 10:43 am -      #66

    No, if this were real life and they realized your ego they would try to take you out first.

  67. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 10:44 am -      #67

    Exactly! I’d get everyone to hate me, so everyone else would team up. Then I can take them all out at once :lol:

  68. tau43 April 14, 2012 at 10:58 am -      #68

    Camp and use stealth and weak botany(I’ve memorized poisonous plant, both common and vague. Like did you know the Elephant Ear plant can kill you?) skills to quietly take out pursuers. Don’t know how I’ll deal with the genehounds though,

  69. Commander Cross April 14, 2012 at 11:08 am -      #69

    @Tau

    You got great odds in there, though.
    Also, care to see Dresden’s odds against the Black Templar marine?
    He’s doing pretty well. :D

  70. Sauroposeidon April 14, 2012 at 11:11 am -      #70

    I won so hard it’s not even funny. Those pipsqueaks bring nothing I can’t handle, and any of them stupid enough to get in fist fighting range get snapped like a twig. I haven’t read the books but I get the gist, and I have a hard time imagining any of them are stronger, heavier, or better trained. Which are really the three deciding factors in any match outside of luck. It sounds like there’s some kind of animal they send after you, which, really, would be useless unless it’s brown bear levels of bad ass. Even then, it’s amazing how useful taking out the eyes of your animal predator is. Humans are naturally better at endurance than even things which normally kick our ass. Once it falls back from having the eyes taken out, follow the trail and when it gets tired out, kill it. Instant dinner. If they teamed up on me like people are suggesting they might with DReager, he’s right in a sense. Although our age difference matters a great deal in this. If they’re all there at once they become easy targets because you don’t have to worry about them trying to be clever little brats. Most of us I assume are adults, which gives us significantly more muscle mass and density, meaning it’d probably be an epic godzilla stomp in my favor as well as anyone else who’s well out of their teens. As Reager is only 13, as I recall, he’d probably get out muscled at some point. I’m sorry, man, but your likelihood of having the muscle mass needed to fight off a whole group is extremely low unless your kid hercules or something. If I get to bring weapons, then it’s all over. Anyone who’s an adult (if they aren’t a total waste of biomass) should be trained in at least one hand to hand fighting style, be it boxing, wrestling, karate, you name it, but a lot of us have also picked up how to use actual weapons. Usually it’s a gun or bow and arrow (and in my case both, although it’s been years and I’m infinitely better with bow and arrow than gun for whatever reason). I also have informal training with melee weapons in general, although it comes from training with people who do have formal training. Namely with pole arms and flails. If one of those whipper snappers has a gun? Take it when they’re sleeping, shoot the guard, kill the kid, kill everyone else.

  71. Commander Cross April 14, 2012 at 11:17 am -      #71

    @Lizard God

    I’m 20, if that’s what you’re asking. :|

  72. Soldier's Shadow April 14, 2012 at 11:20 am -      #72

    Lightning seems to be taking these comments a bit too seriously….

  73. Commander Cross April 14, 2012 at 11:22 am -      #73

    @Soldier’s Shadow

    Watcher, Lightning sort of has a point with regards to these and how caution is to be heavily-advised for the Genre-savvy, really.
    I know, I read the original THG trilogy.

  74. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 11:22 am -      #74

    “As Reager is only 13, as I recall, he’d probably get out muscled at some point. I’m sorry, man, but your likelihood of having the muscle mass needed to fight off a whole group is extremely low unless your kid hercules or something.”

    -

    Just saw that part. I’m 16! I think I’d be able to take them all out. I lost 60 pounds recently so I could be more fit. I’d have no trouble taking them down :D

  75. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 11:22 am -      #75

    @CC The trilogy wasn’t bad, but the more it went on the worse it got

  76. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 11:24 am -      #76

    Though Sauro has a point. For the Adults on Factpile this should be a stomp!

  77. Commander Cross April 14, 2012 at 11:24 am -      #77

    You can’t say the horrors of war are a healthy thing to deal with, can you?

  78. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 11:24 am -      #78

    @CC No sir, I would never venture to say something so rash, yet so bold

  79. Commander Cross April 14, 2012 at 11:26 am -      #79

    I figured.
    Its hard to tell which would be the best presentation of war, to show it in all its potential glories, or to show it in all its confirmed horrors?
    Why not do both, as William Shakesphere did?

  80. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 11:28 am -      #80

    But Shakespeare was a legend. We cannot hope to aspire to be like such a genius. Our best bet is to read lots of comic books and degrade our brains to the point that we will be a genius through sheer willpower.

  81. Commander Cross April 14, 2012 at 11:29 am -      #81

    Is he really the only legend worth noting?
    I think not, I point to you Vergil(guy who brought us The Aeneid, depressing as it is) and Geoffry of Monmouth, in fact! :cool:

  82. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 11:30 am -      #82

    Sadly, I have not heard of either of them :( The tales from Japan have made me too impressed too look back at my proud american heritage. To be or not to be! That is the limits of my knowledge of the old and honorable ways -_-

  83. Hermit April 14, 2012 at 11:31 am -      #83

    @ Sauro
    Reager’s 16.
    -
    I’ll probably fight for a few minutes, before throwing up my hands and admitting defeat.
    I’m good with a machete, and have informal training in boxing.
    I’ve used a pistol one time. I know it’s not much, but at least when I’m handed a gun I know how to aim and fire.
    -
    I know that a lot of people here on this site are soldiers or have connection to the military (I have good memory), I think those guys will have the greatest chances of winning the Games.
    I pity you when you face any one of them Reager.

  84. Rorschach April 14, 2012 at 11:32 am -      #84

    I have returned.
    -
    Hm… I have extensive knowledge of the art of stealth, I’m pretty agile, I am resourceful, so even if I don’t get any weapons at the start, that doesn’t mean I’m not gonna make a couple of my own… I could also make several traps for them. I have extensive knowledge on pressure points, well, more specifically the ones that can disable a person, and have a high tolerance to pain and fatigue. Indomitable will, if I may.
    -
    First thing’s first, I’m killing that blonde guy with Katniss…Use his weapon, if he has any. Get that lame excuse of an actor off the screen… Maybe even Katniss too, but she could prove a useful ally…
    Those elite group of kids, they may prove a problem. The rest… I’ll just wait out most of it, only killing those that I have the chance too, stealthfully… Or just go loud and end it in a
    hurry…
    -
    I don’t know how to deal with a random forest fire, other than running, and probably getting injured in the process.
    -
    Sponsors… I’ll use some of Katniss’.
    The lame CGI wolves… Shouldn’t be any tougher than the ones in The Grey… If they are, I went down trying… By then though, I’d be one of, if not the last one…

  85. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 11:32 am -      #85

    @Hermit As fellow Factpilers we’d team up anyway…..(Depending on which ones I suppose) As for the random chu-people from the film, I could take em out no problem :D

  86. Hermit April 14, 2012 at 11:32 am -      #86

    “I lost 60 pounds recently so I could be more fit. I’d have no trouble taking them down ”
    -
    Just how heavy were you before then?

  87. Commander Cross April 14, 2012 at 11:33 am -      #87

    @Rorschach

    Great to see you back here. :D
    So in any case, how’s life?

  88. DReager1 April 14, 2012 at 11:34 am -      #88

    @Hermit 217…….See that’s why I had to lose (And as an added bonus, I got 60 bucks worth of Video Gaming because of it, Games over food was my motto)

    @Rorsch Was the CGi really that lame……well maybe it was, but I’d say the wolves from the Grey were tougher

  89. Rorschach April 14, 2012 at 11:36 am -      #89

    @Commander Cross
    Life… It’s pretty good.
    @DReager1
    Yes, they were lame…
    The wolves in The Grey were tougher… But, with what happens after the credits, I’m sure I’ll have a chance.

  90. Lightning April 14, 2012 at 11:37 am -      #90

    Guys. I have said it once and I’m saying it again. This also goes out to Sauro. The Elite 4 from district 1/2/4 have trained since the young age of 10 or so. Cato himself was stated to go several hours against a pack of human level intelligent wolves for several hours, before dying. Unless you’re stamina=his, you’re nothing great. You’re not stealthing anyone if you haven’t been trained in it. Stop overestimating yourselves. Also, your HTH combat or something similar must be at least a high black belt. Unless you guys have proof you can equal all these and not come up with bullshit saying you’ll win bla bla bla, just stop.
    -

    @ Lightning
    I do remember some people here who mentioned that they have military training (I’m not giving out names). Those guys have the highest chances of winning.

    I don’t know about the others, but I admit I will not win. Probably I won’t even survive the first round.

    I sprint away from the cornucopia as fast as possible, then hide out in the arena until there’s only 1left, then kill him/her in a sneak attack.

    @CC
    I’m really tired from studying for my upcoming exams so I’ll check it later. Don’t worry mate. I’ll get to it by tomorrow latest.

    @Hermit
    I feel the same. I know I will die. Only those with military training, especially commandos have a chance.

    @ Reager
